Word Count :: 680On the Quarts Shoreline, pp of Perci's presence was permitted, yiss <: ALSO, matured for bloody/injuries for you squeeeemish folks O:

The captain had grown to be a glimmer of his previous, self-upheld glory. Some could say he was driven to some form of madness, calling off what he had attempted to rebuild, shunning those who offered support, although truthfully, paranoia had driven a distrust of all of them, save for the golden-pelted jackal hybrid who followed him still. His tattered hark had fallen back slightly as he returned to a cliff-side on the coastline that brought him to this barbaric, predominantly-nude inabitant landscape. Savages. All of them were savages, looting his belongings from the shattered corpse of the ship like vultures to carrion.

Growl slipped through dark lips as he peered out over the water, puffy clouds heralding a fast upcoming storm. The wind was whipping about that ledge, tossing those dark, wavy tresses about. Coal and flint sights looked over to the fair-pelted jackal. It wasn't fair of the dark beast to keep him lingering about, but alas, he was selfish. Percival was his sole friend, the only ray of light in his otherwise dim and hazy world. As the first raindrops began to pitter on the moss and rocks, he continued his contemplative traipse over the landscape.

Hark pinned itself back as that pensive gaze turned out towards the dark navy and black waves, and Tobias gave pause yet again, padded fingers unbuttoning his captain's jacket, holding it out towards the wind until the breeze lifted it from his fingers, the crimson cloth dancing through the air before being thrown into the foaming waves below, floating a moment as it was tossed up onto rocks, before being pulled down in the undertow.

"Don't believe I much deserve to wear that," came his growling tone, though it held a somber, soft tone, nearly drowned out from the breeze. Shadowy gaze turned back to the jackal, a crooked smile tugging his lips only faintly, before he continued on his way down the slippery rocks.

His black claws gripped at the mossy stone, dirt giving way to mud under the influence of the rain. The gale tugged at his loose shirt much like claws, altering his already swaggering balance. A misplaced step was all it took to send him over the edge of the eleven or so foot ledge, and tumbling down the outcroppings of rock sticking from the stone wall. A sharp snarl and startled sound issued from his maw; clawed fingers scraped at the stone to regain balance as he fell, though no purchase was gained, casting him down into the swirling currents below, throwing him into the rocks once more. Other rock outcroppings slammed his ribs, clothing tearing a bit as the male was yanked about, disorienting him.

Up was down, left was right as he tumbled in the surf, hands trying to grip at rocks as he was smashed against them, only to be yanked free once more. Bones cracked and snapped under the force of his collisions, ribs aching and muscles quickly tiring as he continually tried to capture air from the surface, only to have it ripped from his lungs just as quickly. Relief only came as he was thrown onto onto another rock, broken torso finally coming to a rest. Coal gaze looked about near-blindly at the spinning world, attempting to regain composure. The male's chest ached as he wretched and coughed, water and blood sputtering from his dark maw, ivory teeth stained red. Blood trickled from his flaring nostrils, a hand reaching for his ribs and clutching at his chest, some of the bone caving inwards into a now-punctured lung, side torn open, the wound seeping his life-essence. It occurred to him as he attempted to overturn himself that he was having difficulty moving, his legs numb, and left arm and shoulder practically non-functioning, muscle torn and lower spine shattered and severed, as well as part of his hip. With difficulty, he rolled himself over to face skyward, fading sights rolling about in his skull. Tobias was seeking out something, or rather, a pale-pelted Percival, wheezing breaths hissing in through his bared teeth.

Aw, poor Tobi! ;n;

Word Count → 520

Perhaps it was for the best...

The potential crew didn't much pay attention to him anyway, and the frustration it brought Tobias both worried and irritated the jackal-hybrid male. They had lost almost everything in the ship wreck that had massacred the entire crew, save for Percival Teach and his captain... And what was left was soon taken from the scavengers, leaving them with nothing but each other.

Percival and Tobias, two lone pirates, each their only companion, damaged and with lost hope.

His slate grey eyes peered over to the other, watching the dark wolf's movements, before turning away as Tobias freed his captain's jacket from his possession. Seeing the garment tossed aside, given to the dark and mysterious waves of the crashing sea below, caused Percival's heart to sink like a vessel who could no longer hold her own.

Taking in a deep breath of the salty sea air, the jackal-dog gripped his wrist, fingers caressing the leather band that was tight around it. He held it close to his chest as his touch met the engraved letters. Sybille... I'm so sorry... He muttered, his voice typically monotonous, but clear. His grip grew tighter as the lighter male stared into the sea, breath shakey and large ears laid back.

A sudden snarl broke him from his trance.

Cap'n! He was gone. The larger male, once there and standing still, had disappeared.

She was swept away, the water pulling her further and further from him. He tried to run, he couldn't catch up. As long as he had her in his sights, though, he had hope. He was not a man of faith, but if he could just grasp hold of something...

Percival's gaze switched quickly to the cold waters below.

He caught Tobias struggling in the sea, fighting against the pulling currents despite his injuries.

She disappeared. He ran faster. His sister finally resurfaced... And he fell to his knees.

Before he could think of what to do, the jackal-hybrid had stripped himself of weighted items, and dove into the water.

He came to the surface quickly, gasping in the freezing water as it caused his muscles to ache. Tobi! Cap'n, hold on! He yelped, a wave crashing over and interrupting his calls. Percival came up once more, trying with his might, despite the stinging of the icey sea, to be near his friend as he'd promised to always be.

The damage was devastating. Soaked and sore, Percival pulled himself onto the rock his captain lay, battered and broken, crimson blood trickling over the stone and dripping into the saltwater, instantly diluted, as if it were nothing at all.

Cap'n... Cap'n, please, say somethin'! He pleaded. His breath hiccuped, and tears blurred his vision as he forced himself from the edge, now pressed against his wounded comrade. Don't... Ah can help ya, Cap'n, ah... Jus' need... Percival shook his head. The jackal was known, by those who cared, to show little to no emotion...

He was choking on his tears.

Tobi... Please don't leave me... Percival begged, only wishing it was that easy of a promise to make.

Those rolling eyes struggled to focus on the hybrid, for once a look of fright glazing over those dilating pupils. He had barely heard those cries with waterlogged hark, breathing, waves and gales. His heart was pounding, also working to drown out the voice of his dear friend.

As soon as Percival was beside him, he began struggling once more, trying to bring himself to hold the hybrid, both out of fear and a desire to protect him. This was the first time he had felt this trepidation, so much in fact that his hand trembled as he tried to hold Percival, only able to weakly grasp the nape of his neck, grip slipping down to his shoulder. There was so many things left unsaid... So many things he wished to tell his friend. His only friend. His only anything...

Breath hissed and wheezed, coughed and sputtered as his ribs labored to draw air, his arm struggling to bring Percival closer as he slowly suffocated. A whimper issued from him with the jackal's pleas, some part of him knowing his damage was too severe.

'Me heart is pierced by Cupid...
I dis--dain all glitterin'... gold,
there is n-nothin' can console me... Bu- me jolly sailor b...old,'
came a whispering tone and a few gargles from him, attempting to calm the hybrid, though he himself was scared, much like a pup. He rasped as he tried to inhale, eyes shutting tightly before he pulled Percival closer, bloodied purple tongue giving that pale cheek a little kiss before he slowly flopped back onto the rock, drawing a few more labored inhales, pupils dilating further until his chest grew still, his weak grip loosening further before releasing Percival's shoulder. Those coal sights stared skyward, now serene and cooled.

DEMMIT TOBI GONNA MAKE ME CRY! ;n;

Word Count → 356

He was shaking.

Cold and soaked to the bone, Percival shivered, but refused to rescue himself. The only other being that he could truly call a companion lay before him, his fate decided.

A certain coydog had gained his respect, but the short time hadn't allowed anything more to grow. Others only seemed to avoid, or talk down to him, because of his lack of ranking, or his antisocial personality.

Tobias Roche was the only treasure he had left, and even his shimmer was fading.

Cap'n... Tobi, no, please... No... Percival sobbed, hardly able to see the dying wolf so close to him now.

His captain's darkly coloured tongue against his pelt brought forth another set of tears racing through his golden fur. As the grip on his shoulder released, Percival cried aloud, growling lowly in anger, regret and despair. The touch was gone. Forever.

He shook his head, but it changed nothing; Tobias was dead. There was no point trying to convince himself otherwise, through past experience, he'd realized it only ever made it harder to cope with.

Then again, he never really let go.

His sister's death stayed with him still, haunting his dreams and placing him in hypnotic trances, a constant reminder as to why he should live with the guilt of what had been done. He refused to let the memory pass.

He lay his head down, burying his pale face in Tobias' blood soaked nape, staying still in the rain for what seemed like hours, until the warmth had left the corpse beneath him. He'd made a promise, more to himself, but a promise nonetheless, to never leave the side of his beloved captain, his dear and only friend...

It's time to let go.

Percival Teach sank into the waters, his breath laboured and body weak.

I will always stay by your side, Cap'n.

The current rushed in, pushing him against the rocks first, before pulling him back.

Always.

His body sank. Percival wasn't strong enough. The water flooded through.

It stung... Then everything went dark.

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest...

Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum.
