ooc: if you dont want to continue it i understand <3 just shoot me a PM!

It was cooler now, the late afternoon air chilling the ground and the low sun shedding a dim yellow glow on the moor. Although she reveled in the height of day, the slightly cooler setting was welcome by both her and her snake, which was still wrapped loosely around her neck. She had shifted since the afternoon, now donning her various golden bangles and necklaces in her Optime form, two legs standing on the grassy moor, staring up at the tall trees before her.

She had heard and seen about eagles in this particular area, and so she kept a close eye on her pet, ensuring that he did not stray too far from her, lest he get snatched by one of the great beasts of the sky, never to return. She hummed softly, and the snake hissed in appreciation of the slight vibrations reverberating around her neck and into his sides.

Finding a soft spot in the moor, cushioned by nettles and soft grass, she sat near the base of a tall tree, taking care to avoid being too close to the eagles - as it was, however, she was in a prime spot to see a nest or two of the sky predators. She leaned back against the tree's papery and slightly soft bark, her plush mane cushioning both her and her pet as she closed her eyes, absentmindedly stroking her long companion.

Word Count → 330 :: I do still want, sorry for slowness. Are we having success or failure of the birds?

Willam had yet to dedicate herself to living in a certain place just yet. Instead she still slept wherever she found herself at the time. And where she found herself had Châtiment being found as well. for the most part the female had been staying within the forest. Perhaps it wasn't a wise choice to remain secluded from others but she hadn't had the chance to get her assigned living quarters from the leadership just yet. Of course she was entirely nervous to even get a private consolation with the leadership of Inferni. It was why she hadn't sought them out yet. She wasn't used to direct contact with leadership but she knew that she had to pledge herself to them and get their instructions on daily regimens.

Willam moved through the trees, headed towards the moors in order to get a bit of hunting down. Or that had been the plan until she had run across someone else. "Hello, I'm Willam la Chemin formerly of la Chemin." The greeting and introduction were presented to the female that had rested herself beneath a tree that bordered between the forest and the moors. The large female didn't bother to introduce the large equine that had taken to following her around. She had never really thought to introduce Châtiment to anyone as she had never officially claimed him as her own even if it would seem that way with the way that he trailed around behind her. The horse simply chose to follow her around on his own from how he would be used on hunts.

The call of a predator overhead had Willam glancing up towards the sky to see an eagle soaring high open the open fields that made up the moor. She found her attention drawn to the large bird of prey and wondering if it might have found a fresh kill perhaps. But that didn't seem to be so as it wheeled higher and higher into the sky.

ooc: not sure - success maybe?

Before she knew it, she had dozed off a bit, her black sleek form blending slightly into the dark gray shadow of the tree. A sudden new scent woke her from her light nap, though - it didn't cause her alarm, as the scent was coyote as well as Inferni, but it woke her up nonetheless. Opening her eyes, she saw a female standing before her, one that she had never seen before. Her back was a silvery color, while her front was a rich, creamy-white. She introduced herself quickly as Willam la Chemin - she had never quite heard a name such as that for a female before, but nonetheless nodded to the strange woman.

"I am Sepirah Lykoi," she said amiably. "Nice to meet you." She then noticed that the woman was not alone - with her was a horse, presumably a pet or companion to the woman for her to ride on. Sepirah herself did not own a horse - her pet serpent was all the company she needed for an animal.

She noticed the woman looking up at the sky, spying an eagle beginning to fly out of the nest. She did not worry - Sepirah was close enough to the tree and far enough from the eagle for it to attack her pet. But she did wonder at its beauty. "Interesting, aren't they?" she asked.

Willam had no idea how to ride at all. Châtiment had an entirely different purpose. He was more of a work horse though he was proving to be a companion to Willam. Châtiment's original purpose was simply to pull a travois so that entire carcasses of large prey could be hauled back to where the rest of la Chemin waited for the hunt to be over with. Willam was typically the one to hitch him so he had taken to following her about, even when she had fled la Chemin. She had come to appreciate his presence, a constant reminder of home.

Willam glanced back towards the other female as she spoke of what had distracted Willam's attention. "They are, especially their efficiency." She hadn't witnessed them being unable to catch what they were after. But then again she didn't spend all of her time watching them and studying them. "But they can be bothersome when hunting." She had noticed some that acted ravenous and were quick to swoop down upon a kill, especially if the kill was left alone and unwatched. It had taught Willam to start covering the kills after they were made.

"Look at that, it made it." Willam pulled out the eaglet that had actually managed to stay aloft once it had left the nest. Willam couldn't help smiling as she watched it. The way that it had struggled at first she didn't think that it would actually make it. Not to mention that it didn't really look quite as big as others of its kind that she had seen. "I wasn't certain if it was going to make it with the way it started off." Of course the eaglet hadn't really gone all that far, just from the nest to a nearby branch but ti was still an amazing thing to watch it even make it that far.

At the mention of the efficiency of the birds of prey, Sepirah felt her snake coil even tighter around her shoulders, and she petted it. The birds were quite graceful when they were at their full size - these, however, were just fledglings, getting ready to fly for the first time. It was expected that they were a bit clumsy, and wobbly during their first flights. She wondered what it was to fly, as she saw one of the eaglets almost fall out of a tree.

"Me too - and there are more, look," she said after seeing the eaglet save itself from a very flat fate on the ground. Soon after, one more of the small eagles began to attempt to fly out of the trees - it, too, was a bit wobbly, but larger and steadier than its brother, and so it flew more gracefully and better than the other one. "I wonder if there are some that just never fly," she said lightly, in a slightly joking manner - she could imagine some canines she had met never wanting to fly if they were born as eagles.

Willam turned her attention to where Sepirah pointed out where another eaglet had taken flight. This was the most time that she had bothered to spend watching the birds. But well, it was proving to be interesting. It didn't mean that she was bout to take more time out of her day to set aside to the study of the avian creatures. She would simply allow this day for it. The first flights were interesting but not enough for her to want to learn more about the creatures.

"I doubt that the ones that don't fly will ever be seen." It was how they hunted. If they didn't fly then they couldn't hunt and so they would just starve to death. "They will die because they can't feed themselves." The words were spoken simply and matter of factly. It was the same thing for any canine that couldn't hunt. Eventually they would starve. Life was all about learning the basics to survival. Food, and figuring out how to get it, was among the very basics. It was like the very first lesson to surviving.

The large female brought her gaze back down again. "A bird that can't fly would be like a fish that can't swim." At least that is how it worked out in her mind. It just didn't make any sense to her to wonder on something that went against the very basics of nature. But then again where Willam came from such discussions never came up. She wasn't really used to discussions in general. The only thing that was ever really talked over were hunting techniques to be employed during that trip out. Any other talk was centered around lessons. At those times it was mainly the leadership doing the talking and everyone else just listened and absorbed what they were being told.

Willam's words were true, and Sepirah quietly pondered them, not saying anything. It was true - the ones that were hidden, the ones that did not do as they were supposed to in life, died. It was simple, it was harsh, but it was fact, most certainly; every creature and animal seemed to have something they must do in life, something that made them different, and if they did not do it.. they would end up like an eagle who never flew.

Sepirah considered Willam for a moment - she seemed different, as if she was not quite used to talking that much. Sepirah responded in kind, simply staring up at the eagles for a while, seeing only one or two more attempt their beginnings at flying.

"I suppose that's true," she said in reply to Willam's comments, after a pause. She looked in the sky once more, feeling her snake hiss and slide against her shoulders and neck and hair, ruffling it a bit. She slid her hand down her hair to flatten it, as if in vanity.

"How do you like Inferni?" she asked Willam politely. As she hadn't seen the girl around the clan quite as much as everyone else, she concluded that she was new. It was a good thing - new blood in the clan, more power to fight with, and to come together with.

It wasn't as if she wasn't used to talking, it was more that she wasn't used to discussing anything other than religion and hunting. So the mundane conversations about nothing at all were tricky for her. She didn't know what there was to say. It was this uncertainty that caused her to remain in near silence. She had no idea what others talked about on a regular basis as she hadn't had contact with any outside of la Chemin before she had ended up coming here to Inferni.

"It is... different." That was the best way that she could think to describe it. "I am still getting used to the way things are here. It isn't bad though. Just not what I am used to." There was no way that she would speak bad of Inferni after they had been kind enough to accept her and give her a home as well as safety. She was pledging herself to the clan now so there was no way that she can betray with thinking to bad mouth the place and its occupants.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is this?" Willam pressed a hand against her own chest but had clearly meant it to mimic a spot on the other female's chest. She had caught sight of a hint of red when the snake had been moving about. It didn't look like a natural discoloration of fur and so she wasn't certain at all what it was. She had never seen tattoos or piercings before. Clothes were the same for her, she wasn't used to them either. But of course, if Sepirah didn't want to answer the question then Willam wasn't about to press it. It was why she had asked as respectfully as she could. She didn't want to come across as being inappropriate after all.

She nodded when the other female said that it was different, being in Inferni. She supposed the military ways of Inferni were strange without the normally rigid and strict structure that other packs and groups had - it could take getting used to, for one who was not from there. "I suppose it could get some taking used to, if you're from away," she agreed.

Her attention was brought to Willam's question as she touched her chest lightly. She looked down to her own chest, and her serpent friend slowly moved out of the way so that the Chaos Star tattoo on her chest was fully visible. "Oh, that," she said, touching it lightly. "It's called a Chaos Star. It's a tattoo members of the Lykoi family have." She smiled proudly of her heritage and descent; the Lykois had a long and winding history, and as far as she knew, they were among the largest families in the entirety of Nova Scotia.

Actually Inferni was much more lax in its structure than what she was used to. There were too many hours of the day to herself. She was used to having nearly every single hour of the day planned and out scheduled for her. Here she was left to her own devices. She was free to choose what she wanted to do and when she wanted to do it. She wasn't used to such freedoms. She wasn't used to having to make choices for herself. Actually she would rather Inferni had more structure than it had. She wished for firmer rules in place rather than the ambiguous ones that she had been given. She hadn't even found any group activities either when she was used to meeting with everyone of la Chemin in a large group every single day. In Inferni she had yet to meet everyone since there weren't any daily gatherings that she was used to attending.

"I am. I come from la Chemin. Everyone used to gather together every single day but there have been no group activities called here. There have been no messengers passing out the leadership's word of activities that must be completed in a certain time frame. Everyone seems absorbed in their own thing rather than there being a ritual of something that is shared together as a whole. In la Chemin I was in the group that would go out and hunt daily. We would bring back enough for everyone to eat and the entirety of la Chemin would sit together and share the meal. There hasn't been any of that here." The few that she had met already she hadn't had the opportunity to run into again. So it was quite different from what she was used to. She was used to seeing the same faces daily rather than it being as interspersed as it was here in Inferni.

"Tattoo?" The word was entirely foreign to her. Willam glanced up to the other woman's face before looking back to the marking on her chest once again. Slowly she moved closer to be able to see it better. "So everyone in your family has one of these?" In la Chemin everyone had taken on the surname of la Chemin to show that they belonged to the same place. "Does it have any other meaning than just showing what family you belong to? In la Chemin we all took on the name of la Chemin as our surnames to show that we are part of the group. It means the way as we all are raised with the same belief and walk the same path towards eternity together." She didn't necessarily believe that the female had any interest in what she was saying but it was the only thing that Willam could come up with to give a bit of background on herself that would tie into the discussion at hand. Willam knew already that she didn't have any sort of importance in Inferni and because of that she didn't believe that any could ever take any sort of interest in anything that dealt with her. It was why she also lacked any sort of connection that she would consider a friendship. But that wasn't too different from la Chemin for she had only developed only a single relationship there that she would call a friendship. That didn't mean that she didn't like the others. No, she liked everyone but they were all just friendly working relationships to her.

Sepirah flattened one ear as Willam described the stricter and more rigorous rules and events that occurred in her old pack. Coyotes and jackals were more solitary by nature - strict rules and laws did not do for them as it did for wolves. Each one of the coyotes of Inferni, Sepirah thought, would do just fine on their own, even though they lived as a group. It was simply not in their nature for strict rules and tight schedules - each of them did their own thing, although it did all benefit Inferni in the end.

"It seems very different.. Inferni is more independent," she said. "We aren't always with each other, but we know that we stand together." Although the coyotes were different, and were more independent than the wolf packs with their strict hierarchy and dominance and submission, they had proved themselves just as worthy several times over.

"Most have them, yes," Sepirah said somewhat proudly, standing taller to show off her chaos star. She supposed it was not much different from Willam's tradition of changing her surname to match her pack - or, former pack, it seemed. Sepirah wondered idly why she had left, but supposed that it would not do to ask - whatever would have made Willam leave her pack that she seemed to love so much would be painful to speak about, for her. "You seem very close to your pack's traditions," she said, perhaps coaxing the woman into divulging more information about her past group.

It was simply the way that Willam had been raised and the only thing that she knew. It wasn't like la Chemin was a large group. And well now, it didn't even exactly exist anymore. There might still be others that had once belong ed to la Chemin still about but the group itself had been destroyed along with that land that was called home. Those that could had fled and were now doing their own thing. It saddened Willam to think that she would never again return to la Chemin but she had to move forward with her life and not let it get her down.

"It was. But it was also home." It had been where she had been born. Ones birthplace tended to always hold a special place on one's heart, especially if that was also the place where one hadended up spending most of their life as well. And well, Willam had had a friend in la Chemin. It was something that she hadn't exactly developed in Inferni yet. She had friendly encounters with all that she had met but there wasn't one that she would venture to call a friend. Actually her only friend ever had been in la Chemin but now she had no idea what had happened to him.

She gave up a smile and a nod of her head. "I am. It is the only place that I have ever known. Everyone born there was given the surname of la Chemin to show unity and belonging. It made all of us family despite differing blood lines. It was so much easier to talk to the members of la Chemin since we shared the same beliefs and schedule. We all knew what we had to do. What was right and what was wrong was spelled out, as well as the punishments for each wrong doing. Here it seems like you have to just take a guess and hope you get it right. I think it is the meals I miss the most. Everyone was seen once a day at least and we sat and talked together, sharing what things we were thankful for as well as the goings on with everyone." Everyone's daily tasks were known. Just as there were no secret mateships as those where chosen by the leadership and everyone in la Chemin was invited to join in the ceremony. Births were another joyous occasion that they all shared together. There weren't secrets in la Chemin and she had liked that. Everything was open and laid out as public knowledge. It was so different from Inferni. Here Willam had no idea who everyone was or what their ranks were. She didn't know if there were any mates or who Helote's children belonged to or any of that. These were things that she would never have had to wonder about while in la Chemin. In Inferni she fretted over every little thing that she said or did since she didn't what what could be seen as wrong whereas in la Chemin she knew the exact guidelines that she had to follow.

As Willam continued on, Sepirah realized exactly how strict her former pack was. Sepirah was not sure she'd like that, what with never being alone, and

constantly seeing each other, never having time to yourself to do what you wished. It was good in Inferni, she decided; coyotes and jackals by nature were

more secluded, far less tight than wolf packs.

Willam may have loved her former home, but Sepirah was sure that she would come to love Inferni as well. The nature of the coyote was independent, free,

and that was something that you cannot turn your back to - your inherent nature of your species. Wolves would cluster together tightly, coyotes would be

more free, an that was simply the way of the world.

Still, it had been Willam's home, and Sepirah did not mean to offend her. "Since Inferni is more laid back, you don't have to worry about those things

as much,"
she said, attempting to placate the woman. "Here, if you guess, you're probably going to get it right. It's much more relaxed here."

So far Willam liked Inferni even if it was vastly different from what she knew. It was just going ot end up taking getting used to. Willam simply had to learn to abide whatever new procedures that were to be found within Inferni. But so far there seemed to be hardly any manner of procedures at all. And well, that was just something that she was forced to deal with. But it would be the same manner of having to cope wherever Wilam would have ended up. So even though there was no sense of familiarity in anything that Inferni did she had still been offered a home in her time of need. That certainly counted for something and spoke of the character of those that lived within this clan.

"I'd rather not guess. I would wish to know and leave all of the guess work out of it." And ti was that which caused her the most anxiety. She hated having to guess. She liked certainties far better than speculation. With all of her hoping and guessing she ended up questioning herself more and more. It caused her greater worry and stress as she was forced to analyze what she said and did and have to try to figure out if anything was offensive and needed correction. She simply wasn't coping well with the freedom to make her own decisions. She flourished better when she had orders to follow.

"I should see about completing some form of work." Though the large female didn't know exactly what to do. She simply knew that she didn't want to be caught standing around and having done no work at all. She didn't want to use up the resources of the clan and give nothing back to them. Willam was used to filling her days with some sort of labor or another. Granted much of that consisted of studies but she was still doing something rather than just lazing about. She didn't want there to be any regrets about offering her a place to stay. She was willing to earn her place no matter how she had to end up doing so. So with that said she ended up turning away and wandering off to find something to do to help out.
