lost into the weight of gravity

There was a smudge of soil on her nose tip, but Colibri did not care. She was resting, lying on her back in the grass with her face upturned to the sun. She had been diligently working, walking from the lake with her wineskin full of water to carry to the communal garden. It was so heavy, though, and the sunlight was so warm this time of day. Her joints ached from all the walking she had done, and she had only meant to sit down for a brief moment to catch her breath, but... then her back started to cramp, so she laid herself down instead. Now she was reclining in the clearing in Jordheim like some sort of stargazer, long mane strewn about her shoulders, bottle of water carelessly dropped to one side. She would get back to the garden soon, she promised herself. It was just a break.

Coli let her mind wander, her eyes closing peacefully in the summer air. She had not been feeling well lately, something she was attempting to conceal from her packmates. They had been so supportive of her when she had come home last month all bruised and battered, having been assaulted by a loner close to their borders. Everyone had stepped up to increase the border patrols and security in general, and Vinátta had never been safer. But Coli had not fully recovered, and she felt too guilty to ask for further help. She was sick. Something was exhausting her, making her queasy in the mornings and dizzy in the evenings, making her collapse frequently if she overexerted her feeble body. So she tried to rest herself like this, sneaking a quick nap if no one was around to watch her. If passersby thought she was lazy, at least that was better than being so weak she could not walk from the lake to the herb garden with a small bottle of water without passing out. She listened to the droning of bumblebees nearby, contented by the sounds of nature around her. It was tranquil today; her packmates must be off busying themselves elsewhere in the territory. That was fine by her.
