arachnea's revenge! post dated to early september ^^

She knew that one of the only packs that Inferni did not know much about was one of the largest packs, and potentially dangerous - she had heard whispers and rumors that it was a knightly pack, a warrior pack, but she could not be sure. Before she had left for the area, she had disguised her scent as best as she could - first by taking a thorough bath in the ocean, and then disguising it further by rolling in the dead leaves and muddy areas of the neutral territories as much as she could without dirtying her fur beyond recognition. She had cleaned it since - but now, the Inferni scent was so faint that it was more likely that she was a loner passing through Inferni rather than a member herself.

She wasn't quite by the borders of the mysterious Casa di Cavalieri, but a little ways away, thinking of how to get information properly from the pack - perhaps she could pretend to be a potential joiner, innocent and vain, as her normal facade was. Her snake was still with her, but hidden within her hair, so that only the tip of his tail could be seen. Even then, it could be mistaken for almost anything - the warm weather was receding faster than she would like, and so her pet wouldn't come out of her warm hair any time soon.

Hadley was feeling better now. A lot more calm about the entire thing. Feeling guilty about neglecting his family since the assassin showed up he decided to get them something to prove that he did still care about them. He spent a fair amount of time thinking about what they might like unsure of what would happen. Would they forgive him? Had he proven himself a terrible parent with that relapse? Would anyone trust him after that?

Lost in such thoughts he jumped a full foot in the air when he realized there was someone else there. Wide eyed he stared at the stranger, ears swiveled forwards. Taking a deep sniff he determined she was by herself, close to Casa. Not so close as to be mistaken as someone just poking her head around the pack, but close enough that she might be interested. Amiably Hadley changed direction, reciting to himself that she wasn't going to kill him, and that he had to be brave. Hello.

She caught a scent on the wind, suddenly - a member of the nearby pack. It was a strange scent - almost domestic, with the scents of stones and horses and other wolves. She turned to the scents and sounds, seeing a dark and light colored man, who was quite tall - much taller than herself. The black jackal hybird looked up at him, taking only a split second to spark innocence in her eyes - she was a prospective joiner.

"Oh, hello!" she said with a smile, stroking her hair absentmindedly. "Are you from one of the packs nearby?" she asked. Her voice was slightly higher than normal, giving off every impression that she was vain and perhaps a bit dumb. Her snake remained hidden in her hair, not moving or otherwise being noticeable.

She was a small dark figure. The sparkle in her eye was bright, the unease that Hadley felt rising for a moment. Of course, that was foolish. He was simply on edge because there was a killer in his pack, and he had to accept that fact. A former killer, perhaps, but there was still blood on his hands that Hadley could sense. His ears were flicked back submissively, subtle signs in his body putting her in charge of the situation.

Nodding his head Hadley gestured with his hand back towards Casa. I belong to Casa di Cavalieri. He paused, considering what to say next. Perhaps she didn't know much about the pack. She seemed rather new to the area. His words were chosen carefully, trying to tell her as much as he could in as few words as possible. The pack's full of fighters. They protect others. Like they had for him.

Sepirah noticed that he seemed a bit of a nervous sort - although she was the one close to his pack, he still submitted slightly to her, his ears folding back slightly and his posture submissive. Nevertheless, he still answered her question - he was from the mysterious pack. Good, then.

And it seemed that the rumors were true, as well - it was a pack of fighters, warriors, and knights. Protectors, guardians. Protecting others - she wasn't sure what to make of that idea. It seemed a bit overbearing - but then again, she did not know the full story, not yet.

"That sounds so wonderful," she said brightly. "What is it like?" she asked, her curiousity showing through, although it still fit in with her current demeanor. For the most part, canines, she gathered, enjoyed talking about their packs, about what they are like and what they do - she just hoped that this timid canine was like that as well.

His smile broadened, pumped by her enthusiasm. Again, there was a slight tang that he was missing something, but his nerves were so off the edge right now he couldn't tell what was imagined and what was real. He was jumping at everything, including trees. Talking to someone about the pack that he loved might help him relax a little, actually stop worrying about things. Hadley thought about Casa, wondering how to answer her question.

It's home. Everyone works together, cares for each other. The pack is very large, and usually they can be found training. Adelle, she wakes up first thing in the morning and trains all day. Not everyone does that. I'm a healer in the pack. And it's not just warriors. Those that need help come in as well. If members of a pack need help learning self defense, Casa offers to teach them so that they can protect themselves.

She nodded enthusiastically as he spoke - it seemed like the kind of place that most members of Inferni may not enjoy. In the coyote clan, the ranks were less strict, the submission and dominance lesser, and the concept of a tight-knight, close group was looser. Exclusive, yes. Willing to help the pack, yes. But it was very different from the way that this man described his own pack - Inferni was more secluded; it had to be, what with its coyote heritage. But a pack of mostly wolves, self-proclaimed 'warriors' who helped others - although both groups contained mostly warriors, it was very different indeed.

"You all sound very close together," she said, intrigued by the dynamics. "I'd imagine that it takes quite a warrior to lead so many like you." She imagined who might lead this pack of knights and fighters - to be able to lead and control them, whoever it was must be strong. She idly wondered if there were many wolves in the pack, or if it was simply a mix of canines like so many other hybrid packs were.

She seemed quite eager with his words, his tail beginning to sway as his spirits rose with her responses. It was wonderful to be able to share something like this, and get such a positive reaction. It wasn't often such things were possible. He'd tried sharing how happy he was about Amatha with Sebastian, only to have him run in the opposite direction. Tragic, really tragic. He'd burned with shame about the entire situation.

Nodding his head Hadley thought about the pack. He knew almost everyone in it, in connection to everyone else. There were those he didn't know as well, but they were isolated from the rest of the pack as well. Jazper is an amazing sole. He runs the entire pack. I trust him completely. Aly helps him as well as the luna. She's very enthusiastic, and listens. The pack was worth belonging to, even if they did accept a killer.

The name he uttered was foreign to her, but she still kept it logged away in her mind, in case any else could provide some insight to who this Jazper man was. She envisioned him as a large, and powerful, perhaps, if he ran the entire pack of warriors and strong fighters as this man described. And not just one leader, but two - similar to how Myrika and Vesper both ran Inferni, but Myrika, like Jazper, was the primary leader.

The question of what kind of canines resided in the pack struck her again, and she quickly formulated a question - "Would someone like me be allowed to join?" she asked, stroking her hair once again. "I know that some packs don't like coyotes..." New Dawn mostly came to mind - she knew that they did not allow any without wolf heritage to join their ranks, and as far as she was concerned, that was just fine for them.

He waited, wondering what else she might like to learn. Perhaps she was interested in joining the pack. Briefly Hadley studied her form, searching for signs of black around her body. None of the swirling darkness was there though, satisfying his quest. His gaze returned to it's open nature, never doubting that she might be innocent. She wasn't a killer after all, and with Hadley's simple straight forward nature that was good enough to satisfy him.

Surprise struck him at the question. He himself was a mottled hybrid, and had never really considered species as very important. Yes. Aly is part coyote herself. It's not a problem. The main thing that was looked for was the ability to contribute to the pack. He hadn't contributed much when he'd first arrived in the pack, but that was a different matter. Hadley had been a shell of a canine, barely existent at all. A rescue case really, something he felt he had to repay.

Aly. Another name to remember - she assumed that this 'Aly' that the man spoke of was the secondary leader of Casa di Cavalieri. Her ears had relaxed some, her tail wagging slowly, and her voice had lowered a pitch, but only slightly - the conversation was going quite well. A pack of hybrids - it really was not all that uncommon, she gathered, although it did not used to be that way she was sure. Sepirah stepped to her left, feeling a bit more energetic than she had earlier int he conversation - she supposed that she may leave soon, but only after a few more questions for the male.

"That's good to hear," she said in response. "Some only allow a certain type of canine.. New Dawn.. Inferni.. it makes for hostile standings with other packs and clans, I think." She trailed off, leading into yet another question - "Surely a pack of knights and warriors has interesting relations with other packs..?" The guise of a curious joiner was still being upheld, but she wondered if he would soon become suspicious of the numerous questions - to counter this possibility, she knit her brows together, causing her visage to look quite curious indeed.

The small coyote female seemed quite relaxed around him now. Hadley himself was in a better more laid back mood, tail swaying a little behind him as she moved around. He was actually being fair helpful, making sure that his pack was understood. He nodded his head, not understanding why some packs would limit who was allowed in. Then again, he couldn't really belong to a pack that had a limit, as mixed as he was, so he was incapable of seeing that attraction.

The next question lead to a pause from Hadley. Interesting interactions with other packs? What did she mean by that? He was the ambassador to Aniwaya, but at the same time he wasn't sure if that was the kind of information she was looking for. In fact, she sounded like she was testing what kind of relations the pack had. Her expression was still curious and eager, at a contrast to the sudden thought. Hadley pushed it away, instead smiling gently. I'm not too sure what you mean. It couldn't be what he'd thought. She was too nice for that. She must mean something about allies, not looking for conflict.

Hadley paused, and she cocked her head - had she said something wrong? Thinking back to her question, she noticed that it could be misconstrued as something else, as a testing of who the pack was enemies with and who they were friendly with. Determined to keep the facade of a friendly, curious joiner going, she raised her brows in faux surprise.

"Oh!" she exclaimed softly. "I was just wondering if the pack was friendly with the other packs," she finished with a small, light laugh. It was the sort of question that a prospective joiner would ask - someone who wished to join would want to be wary of which packs were alright to approach, and which packs were to be wary of in case they held hostile relations. She minded her snake, still wrapped, hidden, in her hair, but her serpentine friend did not move or make a sound - it was still undetectable, and she hoped that that was the way it stayed.

The black female tilted her head, confused at Hadley's hesitation. Was he just making a big deal out of nothing? It was possible. Hadley's encounter with the assassin had set him on edge. He was seeing threats everywhere. The whole reason why he'd approached the coyote instead of leaving her alone was because of her proximity to his pack. It shouldn't have worried him. He had tried to act friendly, to push back his fears. She was being really nice too.

Smiling he nodded his head. Of course. It couldn't be anything else. Hadley thought about it carefully before speaking, reciting what he knew. Cercatori d'Arte is a close ally of our pack. I'm also the ambassador between Casa and Aniwaya. They're very nice and friendly. We've had some exchanges with New Dawn as well. That was the extent of his knowledge about relations between the packs. There weren't really any enemies, just them reaching out and making friends.

Sepirah nodded slowly - she knew of Cercatori d'Arte, and had almost joined them.. twice. Her place was now in Inferni, however, and all thoughts of leaving them was gone. She would never truly belong, would never be accepted, if she continued to leave and come again like a leaf blowing in the wind - so it was where she would stay, and would help by doing all she could to assist the coyote clan that she now would forever call home.

The other packs she was less familiar with, but knew about them. New Dawn particularly.. she didn't care for the all-wolf pack, who seemed to hate coyotes with the same prejudice that Inferni hated wolves and dogs with. She did not show any negative emotion, however, and decided that the information gleamed was enough for one day.

"Well, thank you very much for telling me about your pack," she said earnestly. "It sounds like a wonderful place to live. Maybe I'll see you again some time!" It wasn't quite a promise of a joiner considering the offer of a place to live, but it could certainly be seen as one. Her snake was docile, as it always had been during the conversation - she was glad for it, at least, as it did not give away anything that would be considered.. 'amiss'. She began to turn away, waving shortly to Hadley in a friendly and peppy manner, as an innocent loner would, before heading back to Inferni.
