Tharin

Family. Duty. Honor.

Word Count→ 000 OOC: time to relocate! sept 22

It was a bad storm, that much Tharin knew for sure. Even better, he now knew what to do about it. No one had explained to him, but he'd talked to Zalen, telling him that he felt the pack should move. The alpha was ahead of him, already having a place picked out for the pack to head to in the midst of the storm. Tharin's deep call pulled through the air, making sure that as many members were gathered as possible. He had to help get them all to the caves so they could be safe from the worst of it.

Scanning over everyone Tharin nodded his head, and scooped Saki up. She was getting older, and he wouldn't be able to carry her around for much longer, but she fit in his grip for now. Padding away from the dens that had been carefully barricaded for protection he began to head up through the forest, away from the familiar lands to the heart of the pack. The feel of the stone was cold, burning through his body. The wind whipped mercilessly at his ear, Tharin doing his best to keep low. Reaching the cave he placed Saki down and looked out, watching for those that came in. He'd go back for any stragglers.

Family comes first.

Word Count :: +1 :: I pp'ed Shaw, assuming he's there, but Shaw, don't feel obligated to reply Smile

The downpour was horrendous, but the Alpha knew it was nowhere close to what he knew was coming. This storm was just like a bad summer rain, but on the horizon a dark monster threatened them. He knew that they couldn’t stay in the den, no matter how well Jiva and the others had protected it, no, who knew how long this storm would last? They had to be somewhere high and dry, somewhere protected from the brunt of the wind, and Zalen knew the Dagger Caverns would be the perfect place. It might not be as comfortable as the den, but they would have clean water there, and warmth if they stuck together.

Tharin had come to him with similar concerns, and Zalen had been bolstered by his moral; it was not often that Tharin showed this side of himself, and it made the Alpha feel good about his decision to make him Gamma. The non-luperci called to the pack, and they all appeared, wet and sopping as Zalen was. The Alpha smiled at them all, and blinked the water drops away from his eyes, giving Tharin a nod, and they were on their way.

The trek to the Dagger Caverns wasn’t the easiest, the terrain was rocky, but everyone helped each other out. Zalen helped to carry Shawchert, carrying him against his shoulder, until they reached the jagged mouth of the den. Inside, it was dry, as he had expected, and the weather seemed to be not as bad up here in the mountains; the dark Alpha knew that they would be safe here.

(346) Lena is a'scared. :c

Lena didn't quite understand what was going on. She knew there was a terrible storm, but to what extent, it was left up to her imagination. She had bunkered herself down in the den, for once in her life complying to lay still, and all she could do was listen to the rain as it got heavier and as the wind began to howl. She, frankly, felt scared--but she wouldn't allow herself to show it, as stubborn as she was. She was safe, and there was not nothing to worry about, so she didn't let any fear register on her face.

Then came the call from Tharin. They had to go. A weight formed in her stomach, and it took her a moment to move despite being so close to the howling male. She was recluant to leave; going out into chaos she couldn't see made her uneasy to the point where she wanted to stay within the den even if it was becoming dangerous to remain. But, she forced herself to move, and hovered near the mouth of the den as the others arrived, attempting to shield herself from the onslaught. Too soon, it seemed, and they were heading out. Lena trailed behind the others, walking in the end of the group, but she stayed close to a pack member, clinging for whatever guidance she could have at this point.

She slipped occasionally on the slick ground, but luckily she never did fall flat on her face, and was especially thankful of her luck when the ground suddenly turned rocky, and the prospect of slipping would earn her a mouthful of hard stone instead of soft mud. When they finally reached the caves, she suddenly sped up and rose from her position in the back to being one of the first few to enter. It wasn't the same as the den, but she could hardly care less as she immediately tucked herself into a nick in the wall and curled into a ball, blank eyes wide. She didn't even bother to lick herself dry.

((251)) Sky's in her lupus form.

Her spite towards the Gamma had faded in the chaos that had come with the fierce weather. The rain began hammering against her pelt even as she worked to pull those last few flats of wood into place around the den. She willed for there to be time to ready the clinic but Tharin's call cut that dream short. The clinic was on its own. It was time to move. She shifted down into lupus for the journey, moving amongst the pack between her children, her friends and of course, catching up to Zalen and Shawchert every now and then. Her top priorities were those with complications- the injured and crippled, such as Shawchert and Noah, and the pregnant. When finally the caverns were in sight, she calmed down a bit.

As the pack came in out of the rain, Sky searched the crowd of matted, wet, furry bodies and spotted first her daughter. The terrified expression that met her was heart-breaking. She trotted over and nudged at the black-furred girl's face gently, whining softly. "It's okay, baby. Nothing to be scared of." She whispered, moving herself around to groom her daughter's soaked fur, her eyes flicking through the dark cave to try and spot any other members of her odd family. She gave a few short yelps, loud enough to be heard over the pack's murmur, hoping to call her family to her- Cody, perhapes even Shawchert and Noah. She didn't want to lose track of any of them.

Word Count :: 235 OOC: Did a little pp on le drin, please Tian, if you feel i did wrong Let me know I can change it <3

Jiva heard the call and he was there quickly and promply with his mate and Leaf. This time he held the little fox pup close against him, to let Palaydrian be free to fight against the brutal wind and pounding rain. And this was only the beginning he thought as he came to the small meeting. With everyone gathered Tharin and Zalen made their ways to their temporary home in the mountain. Jiva didn’t like the idea but for personal and stupid reasons. He was afraid of heights. He found out by these very mountains, though he loved the view just thinking about falling made him light headed.

As they climbed Jiva felt sick, but he had to be brave for this little boy in his arms, and the mate who was either helping someone else or doing her best to stay on her light petite feet. He always kept her within eyeshot, not forgiving himself if he lost her, but also looked for Fayne and the others, though it was so hard to see with this blasted wind and rain splashing across his eyes, so he concentrated on climbing, holding the boy close and getting to the caves even for the fear he had of heights. Once in the cave Jiva sighed with relief holding the little boy close to him then sat back up to scan for Drin and everyone else.

OOC: well I did so thar!!! Tongue

Shawchert was putting the finishing touches on the dens’ protection, making sure the logs around it were well in place and the ditch was doing its job. It was so far and he felt satisfied. The man was about to limp home when he heard the call, he limped toward it, to see the others gathered, happy to see Sky, even her daughter, though he never met the young girl, and a few others gathered. They waited only a short time for others to gather before heading to the mountain, which made Shaw’s heart drop.

It was Zalen that came to help him. Shawchert could not climb the way he was so when the man helped him up he was grateful, but his pride was not. He knew now was not the time for pride. This storm reminded him of the snowstorm they had in Cercatori and as they made their way up he couldn't’ help but compare it. The winds were stronger now, but the snow was so blinding and built so fast... he wondered how his old pack was holding up. He helped Zalen when he could going up. He was no small nor light man even with all the weight he lost since he had become a slave. Once in the cave he gave his alpha a squeeze of thanks on the shoulder and let himself down to the cave floor, worried about the others and know he.... he could do nothing to help. Shawchert felt useless now that he had no job.

I assumed Noah is here. If that's not okay I can change it. [WC: 403 | Pts: 3]

The storm was going to hit soon. The winds had picked up and the drips were now falling heavier and thicker from the darkening sky above. The den had been secured, barricaded and had a trench around it now. Hopefully it would be safe until the storm had passed. As for her own den, she hadn't had the time or help to barricade it...unfortunately it would probably flood and be ruined. She be forced to find somewhere else to give birth, that or dig a new den before her pups arrived. But there wasn't much time until that happened. Fayne was a bit saddened by her hard work being destroyed, but she realized it wasn't as important as getting everyone to safety. So, once the communal den was finished everyone started to relocate. Tharin's brisk howl carried through the thickening air, calling for all to follow and find somewhere safe. Fortunately, Noah had been by her side the whole time they dug out the the trench for the den so when it came time to move he was with her. It eased her mind to know he was there. There was no way in hell she'd leave without him and she was sure he'd react the same for her own safety.

The pack gathered together, all moving as a giant mass through the trees that whistled above. The wind was picking up speed, shaking loose leaves from the trees creating a rainfall of earth and water. She couldn't feel the cold against her skin as her pelt was thick, shielding her from the wet and chilly air. There'd been many storms similar to this one where she'd lived up north, but this seemed to be a bad one. There was a bad vibe that seemed to be carried through the air, she was sure everyone could feel it. Every once in a while, the Delta would stop and look behind her seeing if anyone was following. She made it a point to be towards the end of the pack so she could make sure everyone was there.

Once they made it through the usual forest, the land began to go upwards. The terrain was nothing like she'd ever walked on in New Dawn's lands before and she was careful with each step. Her paranoia was still deep and if she made even one bad move she'd be sent tumbling and her precious pups' lives would be gone in an instant. The thought terrified her, so she hurried to stay between members hoping that someone would be able to catch her if she fell. She made sure she was close to Noah as well. With time, she fell behind seeing as how slow and careful she was climbing. Whines slipped from her maw every now and then when she'd come across a difficult looking obstacle. The storm wasn't stressing her nearly as much as climbing this hill was so when she got to the top, she was grateful. Tharin was there waiting for stragglers, which she was one. She greeted him with a nuzzle and then entered, shaking her coat lightly before she found a place to settle down. She'd walked and strained enough for today, now she needed to rest. A kick brought smile to her face. Now she could relax some, hoping the storm wouldn't be too brutal on their lands.

Tharin watched as his pack strode through, many of them unhappy with the slippery slopes. Saki had moved further in, investigating a short distance away from where Tharin was to find a comfortable spot to settle in. Those that came through were wet, Tharin resisting the urge to shake off the dampness that clung to his fur. He didn't want to soak anyone who came in past him. He grinned over at Zalen as he entered with Shaw, relieved to see them both enter safe. Shaw wasn't very respectful, but he was still pack. Tharin had to put up with him.

He turned in and checked on Lena briefly, sniffing over the blind female. The handicap worried him at times, but she seemed to have made it to the caverns alright. Satisfied he headed back to keep up his vigil. His tail wagged as Jiva and Drin entered the cave. He'd been worried that Jiva wouldn't have the strength to help his mate in this with how thin he was, but the male was proving him wrong. He licked at Fayne's chin as she entered, tail wagging softly before he turned and headed out, looking over the stragglers and heading down to aid those that were struggling.

Ah Bria beat me! Better late than never. :: wc: 5+

The storm had come and everything they had so painstakingly prepared for would now be put to the test. Would the trenches protect the communal den? One could only hope, but Palaydrian’s mind kept drifting to Little Eden as Jiva took Leaf in his arms and the great exodus began. She alongside her mate walked on two legs, finding it easier to usher and help her packmates with the help of her 5 digits and arms. But she was in a haze, offering a hand here and there and a strong shoulder. Zalia had long take up into the mountains with Tobias, so she wasn’t worried about her feathered friend, but she thought about all the damage that could be done to her plot. She’d harvested as much as she could before the storm hit and stowed everything underneath piles of dirt within one of her tractor tires, at least her wares would be safe, but all those transplants she’d worked on over the summer how could they ever survive the soil shock of too much rain at once. No way had their roots had time to grow deeper than 6 inches. She needed to let it go and hope for the best, taking care of family was of the utmost importance now.

The wind whipped about the convoy of New Dawn wolves, managing to tear the green leather thong Zeitgeist had given her from her braid and throwing her long locks about wildly in the wind. She peered uselessly with limited eyesight into the stormy air, a pang of sadness lancing her heart. The last thing she’d have to remind of her Z was gone just like that. Drin found herself bringing up with the rear with Fayne at some point. The view was sad from back here as she kept looking behind her. Who knew what they’d come back to once the storm had passed. Eventually she was last as the expecting mother moved ahead for the incline. It was best that way, more hands to guide and push incase she’d slip. On two legs the Omega was able to grapple the rocks and hilly scree side much easier, and always able to lend a helping hand. A few slips here and there finally she brought up the rear, offering a weak smile to Tharin before entering the cavern.

Everyone had made it, their journey had been successful, but the night was far from over. Looking around, Drin quickly found her mate and child, showering them both with affectionate nuzzles and kissing Jiva on the cheek before whispering in his ear, Everyone looks so scared...maybe a story to pass the time? She suggested. They’d all be holed up for awhile and why not take advantage of her mate’s secret gift. She was sure the mother’s within the pack would be thankful as children often grew listless cooped up like this. She pulled away with a lick to his cheek, gently pulling him towards Sky and her brood hoping the presence of familiar scents would calm Lena.

Word Count :: 521 OOC: Bwahahahaha making you all read a boring tale!! Big Grin

Jiva was extremely relieved to see his mate come into the cave and come to him and their child, he smiled at her and pushed into her nuzzle glad to feel her warm body against his. She mentioned a story and he smiled. “I think I have something.” He looked down at the kit sitting close to him and Drin; “It is about your grandfather. He use to live in lands harsher than this one. Niro was a young wolf once. He lived in a land full of fighting and eagerness to kill. His sister found a book, one that told her of a promised land and she convinced him it was real so they set out on a voyage. One by sea that would change their lives forever. Niro is not a seaman you see, so being on the boat made him sick more than not, but it was one night that got him more. It was a storm much like this, but on the water. He told me he didn’t know how he survived, the waves were so much higher than himself, and when they came down they cared little if there was a tiny ship in their way or not.”

Jiva took a pause for effect, not looking to see if anyone else was listening, he also needed to take a second to remember what happened. It had been one of Jiva’s favorite stories back when he was a puppy and it always gave him feelings of warmth at the end; “As I said Niro was not a seaman so what he knew he had to learn on the ship. They had lost one wolf in the flying seawater, but they had to make sure to keep their sail from breaking and that was hard. Niro said it was like trying to keep a fish dry in a pond. The waves came and came, and he did his best to stay aboard, though he swore once he did fly but for the rope around his waist. He said it was the worst feeling in the world to be flying in the air in a storm as bad as this one. But like all storms they ended, and not quickly, but Niro was happy to get rid of it. They only lost the one man in the sea but also another from a sickness the storm had given him. Once they were out of that storm a day later they were where they wanted to be, at least Niro and his sister were. They had come to the lands of souls onto the sands of Cour des Miracles where Niro was quite ready to kiss the sand.” Jiva said, a small smile on his face as he finished. As far as he knew it was a true story, but it was a relevant one to the storm outside. Because when it ended, as all storms did they would come back to their home and feel all the more thankful for it.
