[p] digging for kryptonite on this one way street

Set a few hours after Adelle thread, probably, and obviously before hurricane stuffs. He's in Ethereal Eclipse near CdC. +480

He felt like he was a puppy again, floundering in the ocean. Waves of emotion broke over his head and sent him under, unable to reach the surface again, to reach warmth and light. He was stuck in this cold, dark void without a breath of air for his lungs, without a reprieve from the grief that had washed him out to sea in the first place. He was only a year old, and while that was a milestone for any canine’s life, that didn’t make him a grownup or able to handle everything God was tossing at him.

Hwin snorted and brought him back to the reality around him, and the boy quickly freed her reins from the twigs, which brushed along his flank as the mare stepped onward, a little more careful about browsing from the trees. The leaves whacked his face on occasion from this height, and the horse was having some issues navigating through the foliage, but Skoll wanted to go north and wanted to stick close enough to the border of the warrior pack. His meeting with Adelle had brought him comfort (although it brought him confusion now too), and he half wanted to chase after her again. He didn’t really want to do that to her, though; he needed to deal with his problems on his own without involving others too heavily.

The bay horse began to grow more frustrated with her rider’s demands as they stepped through the forest, and eventually all the steering and kicking in the world couldn’t convince her to take another step. She had been patient with him, understanding that the young captain wasn’t quite acting normal and that he needed a small break, but that patience quickly ran out. She snorted violently when he asked her to move, instead stepping backwards, and when he continued to give orders, she finally leaned to the side and pressed his leg between herself and the tree.

“Damn it, Hwin,” Skoll yelped at the heavy pressure, but she pulled away from the trunk before the press turned from painful to dangerous. He kicked at her flanks to no avail, and she flattened her ears. There was a momentary pause of disbelief at this betrayal (not realizing the betrayal on his end, too), and he finally growled, giving up.

“You know what, I don’t need you,” the blond werewolf insisted, and fell more than stepped out of the saddle. She gave him a look then removed herself from the thick of the trees, walking away slowly toward the open coast again, pausing once or twice to look back at him. He scowled and threw a stick in her direction, which sent her running off fast enough, before growling and collapsing against the tree.

All he wanted was to get away from it all—and it looked like he’d be doing so on foot.

Raoth had watched that fiasco breaking out. It was far enough from the pack that he didn't feel like he needed to go out there and tell the male to scram. Besides, he'd seen that little scene between him and the black and gold dog. Hitting the male would probably only result in him getting in trouble with the pack. He still kept his eyes on him. Raoth didn't trust many canines, and this blond stranger was no exception. He'd rather watch the hybrid ride off back to where he came from than leave him alone out there.

Silently Raoth laughed, opening his mouth without a single sound escaping. The horse was stubborn, done listening to the whims of the cocky male that rode her. Casually the coyote strode forwards, a wide smirk on his face. Seeing the hybrid stumble again only brought another round of silent laughs from him, keeping from choking out broken sounds. It would be easier, but Raoth's pride wouldn't allow him to make those sounds. He knocked lightly on a nearby tree to draw the male's attention, leaning against it.

A light rapping of knuckles against bark made Skoll alert, though his attempt at leaping to his feet after being slouched against a tree was clumsy. He ended up jarring his shoulder against the trunk, the ache causing his muzzle to wrinkle in an ugly, grimacing snarl before his green eyes flashed to the producer of the noise: another Luperci, a young scarred coyote, leaning nonchalantly against a tree of his own. The sheer carelessness of his posture bothered the prince, who flattened his ears and continued to bare his teeth even as his flaring nostrils drew in some of his scent. It seemed that this young ’yote was a member of Adelle’s pack, but Skoll wasn’t even sure if that meant something anymore. He had no real qualm with her or Casa di Cavalieri itself, but—there wasn’t really anything stopping him from letting out an annoyed growl. “What do you want?”

Raoth smirked as the hybrid straightened up. It was a rather clumsy reaction, slipping over and tumbling all over the place. This youth was rather entertaining. Raoth wasn't much older than the male before him, but he still thought of himself was much greater. The grimace meant nothing to Raoth, his smirk just growing greater in response. Was this pup going to attempt to face off against him? Raoth didn't care for the fact that he'd chosen to hang out right by Aro's pack, and was set to fight over it.

A growl slipped from the male, Raoth's own ears flattening back in response. He straightened up and rolled his arms gently, letting the muscles ripple as a silent threat. His ears raised questioningly, and shrugged. He couldn't exactly answer the question. That didn't mean he wouldn't attempt. He gestured towards the horse that was rapidly fading out of sight, indicating that he'd come over to investigate. He made a show of smelling at the male, tilting his head to show that he recognized Casa's scent on the male.

Skoll was not conventionally vain, but he was a very dominant individual and took any perceived disrespect as a slight against him. His instincts drove him to bristle and punish whichever individual wasn’t taking him seriously. Even if he didn’t think he was that great personally—especially not now—the little alpha within him wouldn’t allow anyone to put themselves above him mentally.

Being smirked at did not help this attitude, and his tail curled behind him as his hands dropped into fists. The small show from the coyote was picked up on immediately, and he let his own posture grow straight in response, though his green eyes followed the little movements as the male gestured in the direction of Hwin’s retreat and his nostrils flared to take in the blond boy’s scent.

Not fully understanding, Skoll grimaced harder but didn’t make any moves. He guessed that the coyote couldn’t speak, and even if he had a dumb face his nonverbal communication showed that he wasn’t really that dumb. Skoll let his lip curl, though, as a final sort of warning. "None of it’s your business, so leave me alone."
