He followed me home

((This post feels way derp, but it's just an explanation for Rurik's presence, so. *shrug*))

Null had been absentmindedly sketching out the plans for a new kind of trap when the howl sounded from the border. Her ears immediately pricked up and she snapped to attention, nearly dropping her sketchbook. She knew that howl; the sound of it made warmth bloom in her chest and set her tail wagging before she even consciously realized it. The runt shoved her things into her bag and set off at a run for the border, nearly falling repeatedly as she stumbled carelessly over obstacles.

After much swearing, labored breathing and a begrudging slowing of pace, Null caught a familiar scent-- a musky wolfdog smell with notes of spiciness that had her wagging her tail again. She practically bounced as she followed it, ridiculously excited to see her dear friend again. How they had both wound up here at the same packlands was a mystery to her, but knowing him he had probably caught wind of her from one of their traveling acquaintances and followed her trail.

By the time he came into sight it appeared that the Boss had already accepted him into the pack. Salvia was walking back into the territory, and there he was, crossing into Salsola's lands. Null nearly squeaked, and she ran to him like an excited pup.

Rurik Volkov was a huge, hulking black beast of a wolfdog, towering over most Luperci and especially Null. She had met him shortly after leaving home and coming to Nova Scotia, when he had only been in the country for a short time after traveling from Russia. She had quickly learned what a soft touch he was despite his intimidating appearance, and the two had soon become fast friends. And now here they were, in the same pack together.

Null practically hurled herself against Rurik, clinging to him. Ruriksha! She cried gleefully, yipping when the huge wolfdog lifted her easily off the ground into a smothering bear hug.

мой друг! Rurik rumbled back with a laugh, tail wagging furiously. The pair continued to giggle and coo at each other as he set her down, and he told her of his journey to Salsola as he allowed her to lead him further into his new pack's territory, Null bouncing along like a spring lamb and Rurik loping along contentedly after her.
