Oh, but perhaps.

Watch the skyscrapers as they melt away
She had been there for a few days, alternating between dropping by at the end of the day to enjoy his company, and at other times, simply sitting there, waiting. She had not done much in the time she had found him, but he had been understanding enough. She had told Vedr what had happened to the pack, confessed her worries about the future, but had told him nothing more. In fact, the few days she had spent with the male had been quiet and serene, peaceful, if anything. It was strange that she would think this, what with Agani's return and the fall of Shadowed Sun. But she felt oddly at peace, content with everything even so. Maybe it was because Agani had found her, or maybe it was because she had nothing, apart from her friends. She had no pack or home to call her own, and last night, she had fallen asleep on the porch of the home.

Now, she felt rejuvenated, ready to do something. She had flipped through all the work she had written on the history of Bleeding Souls, but had spent more time staring at the empty pages than the ones that were filled with words. She felt a certain desire to finish the history, but she was unsure if that would ever happen. She was so far behind, and she was fairly certain that the ones with the answers, the knowledge, had since been scattered across the ends of the earth. Wolves and coyotes alike seemed to drift through these parts, and few ever seemed to stay. Even she had managed to pick up her roots and leave. She felt like a walking tree, doing something no plant should ever do.

In some ways, she felt like she had abandoned Bleeding Souls, and Jaded Shadows. It had been her home when she'd had none, and it had been the one place she had felt like she belonged. Even so, what could she have done? She had contemplated staying there, and simply letting herself burn away with the rest of the pack, but when the time came, she couldn't do it. It had been a fleeting thought, anyways. She couldn't give up.

She wasn't going to give up here, again, either. She would find something to do, and she would make a new life for herself, again. She would do it as many times as she needed, and would continue to do so until she died. She smiled quietly to herself, amused at the thought. After she had seen death so many times in the past, it no longer seemed so scary. She had seen the ghosts of her friends and mates return, and even her sister at one point. When the time came, she would know. Until then, she would keep on her own path, no matter where it took her.

She cast one last glance around the small house, a bittersweet smile. It had been nice staying here with Vedr, even if she knew it would not last. But she realized it now-- it was time for her to leave the male, time for her to start over again, on her own this time. This had been a transitional point, the turn in the road, and she was ready to continue on again. She would see Vedr again-- just not now.

She slung her bag over her shoulder and set out, to find whatever it was she needed. She had left him a note-- written in English, and then a second bit at the bottom in French as an afterthought. She hadn't been able to write all of it properly, for she hadn't used the language in years, but... it was the thought that counted. And besides, she would be seeing Vedr again soon. Perhaps next time she could tell him about Agani and Shaeniire, Ember so many others. She had stories to tell, but first, she had adventures to go on and nothing to do. She would be very, very busy.
