The young she wolf growled deep in her throat. The woods were dense and the smell of one to many things clouded the air. Svara hated not know where she was or where to turn from here. She had been in the pack almost a month and she had yet to really find her way around the place. Already since she had gotten to the pack the young wolf had changed alot. The gaunt look she had sported when she had first arrived was wisped away with a well fed pup with long legs who was starting to grow into a she-wolf.

Her yellow eyes kept on her surroundings peering at everything. It was quit and cold. Even healthy as she was now, she was still cold. Her dark shaded fur was risen by the lack of sound. The scents were so strong and yet she could hear or see nothing. Stepping forwards Svara stopped in her tracks when she saw a bunny. It's coat was fluffy and it's tail round and jittering back and forth as it nibbled on a peice of grass. Hunger rolled in her belly as she watched the little creature. The young she wolf had found she was always ready for a meal, the thought of starving again almost made her cringe.

Lowering her body to the ground she started towards the creature. She was slow and patient. Her breathing became less frequent. Her mouth watered and her yellow eyes shinned with the need to feel blood in her mouth and the death of that creature inbetween her teeth. When she moved her paw a twig snapped and the rabbit turned and looked towards her. Anger rolled in her gut as a growl erupted from her chest. Svara knew the bunny was history after it had spotted her, what she hadn't expected was for a larger creature to burst from the bushes and take the bunny into it's large jaws.

Brown large and savagly ripping into the small rabit the hungry bear didn't notice Svara. The young pup laid her ears back on her head and staied really still. Her only options were to run as fast as she could, or hope the other animal didn't see her. Svara stepped back once. The snow crunched when she did so. The bear who had been tearing at the small bunny now looked at the larger wolf pup. It seemed to grin when it realized what it had on it's paws. Dropping the small animal from it's jaw it turned and started towards Svara with no hesitation. The wolf pup knew that running was not in the question here, it was going to have to be her speed and cunning.

The she wolf backed up another step the bears own paw steps became quicker. A growl poured from her young lungs. "You'll regret messing with me fucking bear!" Right after the words were out of her mouth, the beast was on her. It was so fast the pup felt the heavy animal push her making her land underneath it on her back. Rage ripped through her young body as she put her long hind legs under the belly of the bear she shoved up and rolled to the side the bears teeth missing her throat and scrapping her face ripping the flesh. A growl and whimper escaped her as she rolled from under the animal and leaped to the side making sure to bite down on some of it's flesh on the way. The bear swipped it's large paw under her young legs causing Svara to fall and stare up into the large animals eyes, blood dripping from the teeth marks on the side of her face. So this was the end of her additude problem?

ooc-who'd have thought it'd be Firefly to the rescue?

The golden bronze woman was walking the lay of the lands once more, her mind on end from the squirming and kicking that was taking place like a battlegrounds between her ribs. She had caught the scent of Svara on the wind and had decided to go check up to see what the runt was doing before returning back to the cottage that she shared with Haku and the younger bad mouthed girl. She figured that if the child was done working with whatever she was annoying today that perhaps they'd just head back in early. Firefly knew she was tired enough to just head back to the warm house now, but she figured that she might as well check on her ward.

The closer she came to the area where Svara's scent was leading the more alert she became, searching for the darker pelted girl. Suddenly she heard the grunts and call of the bear as her fangs came out quickly with a snarl. Digging her heels into the ground she pushed herself through the woods, the scent of the bear overlaying that of the young pup . She ignored the girth around her waist that weighed down on her normal speed and threw herself into the work that was needed to find the child. The sound of the bear calling out made her growl as her ears flattened against her skull, giving it one final push down the trail.

Bursting through the same bushes that the bear had taken the golden bronze woman's voice rang out, "Svara!" she called as she launched herself onto the bear's back, her nails digging in as she raced up the beast's back as she sank her fangs into the bear's ear and side of it's throat. She hadn't even stopped to think about the fact that she was heavy with child, the younger packmember wasn't going to lose her life to the bear.

Svara stared up into the beasts eyes. They were brown and as dark as the night when the moon was gone. The teeth of the animal were large and white baring down at her about ready to end her life. Svara smiled slightly and looked right into the creatures eyes with her own yellow ones. She knew she wasn't nice, or that she didn't know how to show compassion to others; Maybe then this was her punishment for not showing some? The she wolf let her head turn to the side looking into the deep woods, seeing the long abyss that she now called home.
The sound of the beasts rumble was loud and close to her young ears. Svara just kept that smile on her face as she watched the woods. No one would come, no one would save her, they never saved you.

"YOU BITCH!" the young pup shouted, her foul laungage unheard of for a pup so young. The larger black females looked at her. Her muzzle was covered in blood and two young bodies lay at her feet. Svara's baby legs quivered in hatred and sorrow. Those two bodies eyes stared out liflessly right at the wolf pup, her litter mates. "I won't have something so foul living. It took me three months to convince drake that I wouldn't kill his little rats. Now your the last one." Svara watched her black mother stalk towards her, the blood of her brothers on the womens muzzle. A loud growl erupted in the air around them. Svara's yellow eyes turned to see her grey father, his large body was sleek and beautiful and his grey eyes on his two dead sons.

There seemed to be a sorrow in those eyes as he looked upon is dead children. Svara didn't think twice she rushed towards the male, she didn't stand behind him scared, but beside him her yellow eyes full of anger and regret, that she couldn't have died in her brother Zack's stead; Her father deserved a son. "Sabeen this is the last straw! I have dealt with your trickery and bitch tatics one to many years." Her father didn't look down at her as he passed his daughter and went towards the black female. Svara couldn't wait to see the blood of that womens on the ground with her lost brothers.

She kept watching those woods death would be coming soon, it had only been a few seconds since the bear had pushed her underneath it's body. The sound of paw steps made her ears twitch and the bears above her making it pause. What was even louder was the sound of her name beind hollered as a tan flash of fur was launched onto the beasts back it's jaw locking onto it's throat. Svara's eyes were wide as she watched firefly on the bears back. Out of all of her pack members, she was closest to this tan female, and she had come. Narrowing her eyes she watched the bear fly back into a tree. Svara heard a crunch, she wasn't sure if it was firefly or the tree its self.

Jumping to her paws the young she wolf went for the bears ankles snapping down hard on flesh and bone. Between her and firefly the pup only hoped that they could take down the beast. What she hadn't imagined to happen was for the beasts teeth to grip onto her shoulder and pick her up throwing her a good ten feet away, ripping the flesh on her joint. A pain filled snarl was torn from her body as she got up and went for the animal again. Blood dripped into the snow. If anything the she wolf wasn't a coward and wouldn't abandon the one female that had come to save her in the first place. This time when Svara launched herself at the large carnavor she went for the throat, and hoped that was what she had grasped in her strong fangs when they meet flesh.

Firefly had never even thought about what she was doing as she had thrown herself into the fray. The sound of the bear's roar in her ears as she dug her fangs deeper made her growl and snarl. She wasn't watching one of the youngest packmates die before her eyes just because she wasn't willing to put herself in danger. The taste of blood welled in her mouth as she jerked her head from side to side, riping at the beast's flesh.

Too soon it seemed that the bear had thrown itself back from the youth and yet Firefly hadn't been able to free herself from the mass of muscle before the creature pinned her back against the tree. A harsh yelp rang through the lands as the pain rippled down her back, her fangs jaring lose from the beast's throat as she crashed to the ground.

Lifting her bruised body from the crimson stained snow she shook her head, trying to get sight of the world that was spinning. The sound of the bear's harsh breathing and the snarls of the small girl made her work harder to get a clear view again. She was too late as she realized that the bear had thrown the dark hued woman across the clearing. Snarling in rage Firefly sprung forward before she even had solid ground beneith her swaying paws.

Finally it seemed the world stabled as she threw herself back into the battle. Her paws dug into frozen land as she launched herself back onto the beast's back, the child keeping the bear distracted though she hoped that it wouldn't cost her life. She didn't make it all the way to the beast's throat again but her fangs dove into the bear's shoulder as she racked her dull nails along the ribs of the bastard that had attacked her packmate.

"." Hanna would have had to have been deaf to hear the snarl of the bear from her proximity to where it was, as well as the cries that arose near it. Someone was in trouble, or rather, two someones, as Svara's name rose from another's lips. Debating only a moment as to the wisdom of her trespassing, the ebony female was off to go and get supplies from the clinic where she'd set up residence as a Dahlia member. She still carried many things in her satchel, but there were likely to be broken bones which would need to be set and bound, deep, bleeding wounds, and a need for pain medication for it all. She tarried very little at the hospital, rushing to get what she needed and putting it into her satchel as she ran.

Racing back to where she'd first heard the snarls, tracing them to the source. She paused upon entering the tree-lined clearing, taking in the scene. There was Svara, leaping for the bear's throat, and a heavily pregnant female perched on the beast's back. Setting her satchels on the ground, she drew her ever-present knives and bolted for the bear, waiting for a strike opening where she didn't risk hurting the other participants. Blood marred the snow at her feet, and as soon as she saw an opening, she took it, driving both knives to the hilt in the bear and twisting slightly before leaping back with them. The ebony arms feinted, the blades glinting fiercely in the dull sunlight, even covered with bear blood as they were. She struck again, and again, as opportunity arose. She did not get off scot-free, however, as a set of claws raked her left shoulder. It hurt, but it wasn't incapacitating.

Fangs locked down onto the bears throat. She let them sink in as deep as they would go and then the female child pulled at the throat of the bear hoping to end this before either she or firefly got killed. Blood seeped into her mouth and the feeling of gaining some ground made her hold on tighter as the animal started to rake it's claws down her back. What the girl hadn't expected was for susquehanna to appear. The black she wolf came at the bear a knife clutched in her hand and she started in on the animal.

A large rumble was emitted into the air. Svara kept her hold tight refusing to let go of the animal. Her shoulder burned and the pain was increasing by the second, she held on tighter. The stabs at the bear Hanna was making was helping to take the bear down. Finally it was weakening enough to make the beast fall back on it's front paws and for svara to pull at the throat. A gurgle of pain escaped the beast as it was being asulted from three ways.

Weather it was the lack of air, or blood, the animal finally gave in to death and collapsed in the snow. The moment that the large creature went down so to did Svara. Her young sides heaved taking in as much air as she could. Her shoulder was torn from where the bear and thrown her, and her face sported three claw marks, way to close to her eye. So she had lived, again. This time though some one had came to save her. Yellow eyes looked on the female who was heavy with pups. Svara said nothing, becuase even now she couldn't find it in herself to thank anyone for anything, not even a chance to keep living.

Firefly had barely noticed when the former packmate had joined in the brawl until the scent of blood came strong and she shifted her hold on the bear to lash at the base of his neck again, trying to dig into that deep fur and get to the flesh beneith. The sound of the small girl atleast told her she was still alive, something that had been worrying at the back of Firefly's mind since the girl had first dove for the beast's throat. She shifted her weight to dig in again with her hindnails, raking them down the beasts back once more as she felt her grip slipping.

Just as she thought that she was in control again it seemed that the dark hued elder woman had lashed at the bear again with her knife, causing the bear to rear up on last tim, the bronze and gold woman's hold on his ruff tearing away as she slide sideways and into range of his flailing reach. She barely caught the sound of his tormented roar as she felt the power of the beast's arm throw her off into the edge of the woods. His claws had luckily missed her flesh though had grazed through her fur, leaving four furless swipes across her hip and rump. The thud that rattled her body and the pain that blossomed was too much as Firefly let out another yelp, this time she didn't even bother to get up as she just shut her eyes a second before trying to open them to make certain the foolish girl would live.

She hadn't expected to have landed in the soft snow, but below the soft snow was the solid surface of a outcrop of boulders, making her landing even more painful that normal. She didn't even care what she'd done to herself, but she watched quietly as the two others ended the life of the creature that had foolishly wandered into the claimed lands of Dahlia de Mai. A soft whine escaped her maw as she caught sight of the girl and the wounds that marred her flesh. Firefly knew she hadn't escaped with no injuries, she could taste the blood in her mouth, not the thick heavy taste of the bears but her own. She just lay quietly, knowing that she wouldn't help herself if she tried to move now.

"." An involuntary cry escaped Hanna's lips as she watched Firefly soar through the air from the bear's back. The beast had finally fallen after rearing to his hind legs once more, his lifeblood seeping from the many wounds on his neck and body. She collected her medical pack, then glanced from one girl to the other, to Svara, then Firefly, trying to decide who to help first.

Her decision was not long in coming. The problems were equally large, mostly because of the pregnancy. However, Svara had lost and was still losing a fairly large amount of blood, and unlike Mew, Hanna did not have a viable donor to replace that blood. The female would be weak for a long time provided she recovered. However, Hanna took the time to go to Firefly's side and draw up a dose of the morphine that she had earlier put in her satchel in case of times such as these. From what she'd read, the analgesic would dull the pain quickly without harming the pups.

Hanna scoured Firefly's body for any hidden injuries, and then dashed back to Svara. She had deep lacerations in her right shoulder, near to the bone, similar cuts on her back, though not as deep, and a worrisome trio of slashes across her right cheek. It was these that Hanna tended to first, after dosing Svara with a lesser dose of morphine to lessen the pain that the stitches would cause. She changed out the syringe used to do this, and as with Firefly, injected the opiate into the great vein in Svara's upper and inner thigh, where she found the pulse strongest.

Out of the satchel came sterilized horsehair for thread and a sterilized bone needle. With a fairly practiced hand from sitting and doing this outside an emergency, Hanna knotted the hair and threaded it through the needle's eye. Cautiously, holding Svara's face with one hand, the dark medic stitched back and forth, sealing the gashes closed. Once the cuts were closed, Hanna took a closer look at the eye that was so close to being ripped from its socket. It looked alright, like there would be no damage, and Hanna hoped that was the case.

She moved onto Svara's shoulder and then to her back, closing the wounds and ceasing the bleeding. She went over each spot with a fresh alcohol pad to try to keep it clean, and then gathered several sturdy pine branches to form a litter. A leather thong from her satchel bound the wood. Despairing that she didn't have ten hands, Hanna cried out loudly for Slay and Haku, needing their manly assistance. Then she turned back to Firefly.

The young pup hadn't expected to see firefly on the ground, thrown from the beasts back. She had not expected to be the cause of all of this trouble. Hanna the healer was going around doing what she could. The moment Svara seen the siringe in the womens hand she growled in protest but didn't make a move to stop her. Even as young as she was she knew that she was being doped to block the mind blowing pain. Her shoulder hurt her more then anything. It was shreded open. The need to lick the wound was almost undeniable. Yet she knew that would only make things worse, causing her to pull her muscles as well as lead to more infection.

Laying her head down on the snow she made no movement as those drugs took away most of her pain. Susquehanna began her work about the pup. Svara didn't do anything as the women stiched her back together. Her yellow eyes were on the other female. She had gone so far as to come and risk her own life to save her. The childs fathers words rushed through her head. "You must look out for yourself, if you don't no one will come save you when you screw up." Svara grinned and shut her bright eyes.

"Guess you were wrong again." She mumbled to herself. After Hanna went as far as putting her on a litter to move her Svara took a deep breath and moved from her side over onto her three good legs, holding her wounded right leg up so not to rip the stiches. Moving slowly and being cautious of those back wounds she made her way towards firefly. When she did get there the pup was breathing hard from the strain it took. Between her wounds and the morphine she was close to loosing consiousness. Letting her legs give out she laied in front of the pregnant women. "thank you." She wanted to say more, to make a muttered snap that she would never say such a thing again, but Svara didn't as she let her nose touch the other females in thanks before loosing consiousness. the pup stared to snore.

The golden bronze bitch snarled as the healer woman moved towards her. Those emerald orbs narrowed as she spat, bits of blood speckling her paws as she threatened the woman. "Tend to her first!" but it was too late, the shaman had already stuck her with the needle. If Firefly was feeling up to par she would have taking a good snap at the dark hued woman's flesh when she moved by but instead she just grunted and kicked her hindleg out of the lady's hands as the needle was removed.

Firefly didn't offer the woman any thanks as she flicked her orbs back to the form of Svara as Hanna moved into do her duties and work that had once been her ranking in the pack, now just her calling. Firefly knew that the healing arts were a wise thing to have, a knowledge worth absorbing but at this moment she could care less to add the skills to her talents. She closed her eyes for a moment as she waited, breathing slowly to keep the pain that was slowly easing away at bay.

When she openned them again right before her nose it seemed that Svara was. The soft words from the pup made Firefly have trouble swollowing as she felt the cool touch of the young girl's nose against her own.. within moments the girl was snoring and Firefly was left blinking as she tried to figur out what to say or do. She honestly knew she didn't have to say or do anything, the girl was out like a light and won't be hearing the words she spoke. Instead Firefly lifted her muzzle and pressed her nose softly above the girls' eyes as she sighed. She didn't know why she'd gone after the bear, actually she did, but she wasn't going to admit to the world that she actually liked the bad mouthed young woman, that just wasn't her thing.

I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Slay heard the cry from a distance, and set off at a loping pace to answer it. He had been too far off to hear the grunts and cries, but the desperation in his friend's howl had been clear. His mind raced - what had happened? Was it another coyote attack he was getting himself into? Who had been hurt? Did they need him to fight? The air was thick with the scent of blood, and Slay felt his stomach turn, uncomfortable with the dense coppery scent from the injured wolves.

It was quiet when he reached the scene -- too quiet, as he soon realized. Pale eyes darted across the snowy clearing, torn up by signs of scuffling and spattered with blood. The hulking carcass of a bear was startlingly large in comparison to the three females that had brought it down -- Hanna, Svara, and Firefly. Hanna was comparable to Cwmfen in terms of speed and power -- she must have protected the child and the pregnant woman with her knives. "I'm here," Slay panted, padding up to the dark-furred Optime. Svara was unconscious; Firefly was sharing a tender moment with the pup. Both had been hurt and tended to by the herbalist. "Hanna, what do you need? I'm here to help." His pale eyes shone in admiration of the lithe wolf; her skills as a medic and a combatant were impressive indeed.

Hanna's heart very nearly leapt out of her chest when Svara dragged herself over to Firefly, and then it melted, though she didn't hear what was said. Once she'd dropped off to sleep, Hanna turned back to the other woman. Despite the bad attitude from Firefly, Hanna had injected her with painkillers, and she hoped they had taken effect. Regardless, she needed to patch the lady up. She felt along the woman's ribcage, found an inconsistency, and began binding the ribs up with gauze from her pack.

As she finished rolling the last bit around Firefly's ribs, Slay arrived behind her, announcing his presence and then asking what needed to be done. Her relief at his quick arrival was great and she threw her arms around him in an awkward but heartfelt hug, wincing when her shoulder tore open again. A few droplets of her blood fell to the snow, and the medic packed some of the white stuff into the cut to attempt to stop it till she could deal with it otherwise.

Regaining her feet, Hanna moved the snoring Svara to the litter, and rushed around to form another, thicker one for Firefly, which she put close to the female for her to move herself onto. She wasn't going to risk being bitten; if Firefly didn't want the litter, then it was up to her, though Hanna strongly suggested it to her. The females needed to be moved to her clinic in Wolftown, and she couldn't haul both at once. She turned to Slay, speaking softly and relatively calmly, "I need to get these guys back to the hospital in Wolftown, or at least Svara, so I can make sure her wounds don't get infected. If Firefly accepts her ride," she glanced pointedly at the woman, "Is there any way I can ask you to pull one of the litters along?" After the women were taken care of, she'd come back and butcher the damned bear. No sense in it going to waste. Bearhide was notoriously warm.

His gaze was soft as he looked down at her. Those grey eyes of her father were something that always made Svara smile, and a true one not her arrogant one. He was kind to her and mostly over looked her sharp tounge. Maybe it was only becuase he knew she had inherited it from her mother. "Svara if you ever do join a pack, you must learn they will not accept you the way you are. You will have to change." His words burned her little ears and made her growl. "I won't change! I want to be the same me for the rest of my life!"

Her father shook his head. "I hope then you find a pack that is more loyal to you then you are to them." He stated making Svara look at her father in confusion. As a child she didn't understand these words, but as she grew they started to make sense.

I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Hanna always seemed so cool and efficient when she was working, but the abrupt hug she gave him upon his arrival showed how worried she must have been. Slay smiled; the brief embrace was warm and pleasant. But there was work to be done, and reluctantly he let her slip back, tending to her lacerated shoulder. Was that her only injury?

"I'll pull both," he asserted without hesitation. Slay was a big wolf, with malamute blood to boot - dragging the pine boughs and the two small females would be no problem, so long as they could be tied together and towed from one line. "Your shoulder is bleeding - it'll be faster if I get everyone to your clinic, and then you can tend to yourself..." He nudged her lightly with his muzzle, concern shining in his pale gaze. "...I'll just need your help securing them." Slay turned for a moment, looking at how stubbornly defiant Firefly's posturing was, the angry pride she seemed to exude everywhere she went. She would ride, wouldn't she? Why would anyone willingly choose to take the long walk back after being tossed around by a bear? Especially since her heavy load would cause extra strain...

ooc-Firefly is in her wolf form, not two-legged, but it doesn't matter. I think all my poor characters get stuck in wolf form when it comes puppy time. Big Grin

Firefly lifted her head suddenly at the appearance of Slay, she narrowed her eyes and bared her fangs at the larger male as she growled. "Don't ever speak of this Slay.." she threatened as she lifted her muzzle from the smaller girl's forehead and softly lay her head on her paws. A small bubble of blood appeared at the edge of her lips as she watched the two speaking as though Svara and she weren't even there. They'd done the hard work and now they were being treated like luggage because they'd been injured. How grand it was to belong to the pack from time to time. Not that she wasn't use to being ignored in her current state, Haku had done enough of that for her to know when her input wasn't wanted or needed, though she never listened to good or bad advice, just made her own.

The fiery bronzen woman wondered just what in the hell the gauze that the healer placed around her ribs was intended to do, it wasn't like it was going to help her inner problems, not that she was going to announce that she had anymore problems than what the healer had already detected either. She bared her fangs at the healer when she was finished and eyed the damn branches and brush that they expected her to sit upon like a pathedic little puppy and be carried. She rose to her feet, wincing at the pain as she hissed, the blood in her mouth seeping from the edge as she licked her lips, trying to remove the trace evidence that something more was wrong than she was willing to admit. Her paws shook under her weight as she grumbled and gave into their wants just this time.

Shifting onto the branches she narrowed her eyes at the two adults present and threatened the larger male once more. "I can hear you, you know.. and Slay, I mean what I say.." She would think of a million little pains she could cause the bi-colored male if he decided to mention to anyone the scene he'd witnessed today. Firefly was not one to sit down and be catered to.. but like it or not it looked like today would be a catering day. She shifted her eyes to Svara and asked gruffly. "She'll be ok.. right?" She didn't want the world to know she cared for the younger girl, but she was a packmate as well and she would have died if no one had come to help.

Without a pause, Slay offered to pull not just one, but both of the makeshift sledges. She wanted to tackle him and hug him till she couldn't hug any more, but she settled for a wide smile and began rummaging through her pack. Somewhere in there were a couple of braided deerskin ropes that would be perfect for the task.

She finally dragged them out and tied the limbs of the sledge holding Firefly to the ends of the branches of Svara's, then carefully lashed the sleeping girl to her bedding to keep her from falling off. Hanna didn't think that there was much chance of Firefly falling simply because she was more aware of herself than Svara, who was sawing logs.

Gruffly, the older of the two victims asked if Svara would be alright. Hanna smiled kindly and softly reassured the mother-to-be. "Svara is young and strong. She'll be up and running in no time at all." The urge to insert the phrase 'her mouth' after 'running' was great, but Hanna resisted, able to tell by the body language that Firefly really did care for the girl. She didn't want to offend.

Hanna slung her satchel over her good shoulder, and then extended the remainder of the rope to Slay. She wasn't sure what his plan was, so she figured it would be best to give him the choice.

I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Slay snorted in amusement, rolling his eyes at Firefly. She could barely stand, she reeked of blood and was trembling from the strain of her own bodyweight, and she had the gall to threaten him? Suddenly the big bad Firefly didn't seem all so frightening anymore. "Of course you can hear what I'm saying. I can hear you, too, my dear - surely your ears weren't injured as well?" He smiled innocently at her, wagging his ebony tail behind him playfully. He meant her no harm - it would take a real jerk to honestly make fun at an injured lady's expense - but if he could lighten the mood and make things easier for everyone, why shouldn't he?

Hanna flashed an ear-to-ear smile before rummaging in her packs, and Slay felt relaxed and calm with the situation. No one was hurt too badly, there were apparently bears living in their territory but probably not any more, and he'd get to prove his strength as one of the biggest wolves (or was he the biggest now?) in Dahlia de Mai. He padded over to the sledges, watching with interest as Hanna's swift fingers expertly lashed the makeshift sledges together. He leaned close to Firefly, knowing he was at risk from her snapping jaws, and drawled softly, "Are you sure you don't want me to tell anyone? I daresay, it would be a charming story to relate at the next pack meeting..."

The arctic wolf then pranced back to the front of the pine-bough train, to where Hanna was waiting expectantly. "You'll have to lead the way, milady - I don't spend much time in town, so I don't know which building you're aiming for." He winked cheerfully before lifting the well-crafted rope gingerly in his jaws. Some sort of harness would be an easier weight distribution, but the snow was packed down enough for the stretchers to skim lightly on the surface. Without further ado, Slay dug his heels down, and began to pull.

Firefly might be injured but she was a fierce little bitch, like a cornered tiger she would fight to the death if she needed to. She narrowed her eyes at the taunting large male as she showed him her fangs once more as she gave him the truth plain and simple. "Remember, I won't be in this position forever Slay.." His mocking voice she could deal with for now by the further and further the male took her for a ride she'd seriously fuck him up later if he didn't watch his back. She was rather disappointed that he was one of Cercelee's little playthings but she knew that there were a million ways to make something look like an accident and of course there was Slay's little strange ways.

She was quiet as she watched the healer begin to lash the sleigh together as Slay took the time to play up his game some more. With a wicked little smile Firefly's dark orbs turned to him as she smoothly stated. "Just remember, I know where you sleep.." The comment holding a doublemeaning for today since she did know his little secret and she had no issues with mindless cruelty. Her eyes narrowed as she hissed. "Do you want to live to see the next packmeeting Slay. I can make your life a living hell.." and she had quite a few little friends who could as well, though that market on her friends weren't working so well. One was laying before her and the other was annoyed at her current health condition, not including the newest development.

When everyone seemed ready to go Firefly just grumbled slightly. "Don't be so cheerful Slay, I'm not liking the view from here and you're rump is still withing my reach if you piss me off enough." She could tell she was growing even more weary as the trip began. Instead of waiting for the male's reply she just laid back and closed her eyes slightly to rest, stealing a glance at the sleeping form of Svara before sighing to herself. This wasn't going to be a fun trip at all.

Hanna suppressed a chuckle at the biting words Firefly returned to Slay's fairly easy teasing. Surely after as long as she'd been in Dahlia, Firefly would know that Slay meant no harm. Or perhaps not. Perhaps the two only encountered by mere chance, and at meetings, but otherwise stayed away from each other? Since she'd not been here, Hanna didn't know much about the current inner workings of Dahlia de Mai.

Quietly, the dark medic led the way toward her clinic in Wolfville. It wasn't difficult to find; it had the same rickety-looking crossbar symbol attached to the front. She assumed that at one point it must have lit up, but that would have been long ago, before any of the wolves here had existed. She walked through the musty but quiet tiled corridors till she stopped before a room with a hospital gurney. She hoisted Svara up onto it with a slight grunt, then moved it over to allow room for another bed.

It had surprised her, a little, how much space there was per room. How many medics had it taken back in the day to heal one patient, after all? She left the room, sweeping down the right to the next room, and rolled the bed from there into the same one as Svara, for Firefly, naturally, scooting a chair over so Hanna would not have to lift her, nor would she have to jump. She'd figured that Firefly wouldn't want to be separated from her ward. Even with the extra bed, there was ample space for her to move around, which she did, opening the drawer and cabinet. She pulled an unopened bottle of isopropyl alcohol from the cabinet, then shut it. From the drawer, she withdrew a handful of little alcohol pads and more gauze.

She went to Svara's side and dabbed gingerly at the stitches near her eye with an alcohol pad, knowing it would sting but also realizing the problems that an infection that close to the eye could cause. The bottle of alcohol was opened, and then poured straight onto the injured shoulder and back. The gurney mattress had a vinyl covering; it could hold the alcohol till Hanna had time to get towels.

Hanna bound the stitches in gauze to keep infection at bay, then retrieved a towel to clean the mess from around Svara's body. Checking and rechecking everything on the child, she moved to Firefly, though there was really nothing to be done. "Firefly, I'd like it if you'd rest here for a little while. When Svara comes to, you're more than free to take her and leave, though I'd keep her quiet as much as possible." Heh.. Right.

She knelt next to Slay, unable to spare the time that two shifts would take, but needing the quick versatility of her Optime form. She put her arm around his shoulder amicably, trying her hardest not to squeeze him to death like she felt like doing. She spoke quietly to him. "Slay... You've been an awesome help to me today. I don't know how I can ever repay you. Thank you." She looked at her shoulder shyly. Her own lacerations had long since crusted over; she'd clean them up later. "So you know... you're not obligated to stay in here any more.. but I appreciate your company." This last was barely audible, a first admission to feelings which couldn't be reciprocated, though Hanna didn't know this yet.

ooc: No, long is good! ^_^ Ha ha, narcolepsy strikes again. This can be my last post, or he can wake up in another ten minutes or so. The sleeping sickness is uncontrollable, but short!

I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Slay's chest was heaving by the time they had arrived at the musty clinic, and he let the braided rope fall from his panting jaws with relief. He had ignored Firefly's occasional taunts along the way, although he did add an extra swagger to his hips as she complained about the view. Who didn't enjoy that vantage point?
It felt good; the pure physical exertion wasn't something he got to do often, and it was enjoyable, in a masculine sort of way. He caught his breath in the doorway as Hanna heaved Svara's limp weight onto the tall flat bed.

He padded curiously into the room, looking at the cabinets and the stark walls, soaking in the surroundings. Every building was so different here. On his own, he never explored the decrepit structures, although with an escort, he was willing to brave the enclosed spaces. Without knowledge of the human ways, Slay didn't quite grasp the meaning of the symbols, or the full purpose of each separate establishment, but he could understand that this hard-tiled floor and unfurnished room was intended for exactly what Hanna used it for. The scent of the alcohol burned Slay's nostrils, and he made a face as he watched her apply it to the unconscious pup's wounds. She didn't awaken, which was a surprise to the observing male. The scent alone would have rocketed him from a coma.

"...I'd be happy to keep you company," he said gallantly, leaning appreciatively into her one-armed embrace. He had all but overcome his awkwardness around the shifted; they were the same underneath their fur, whether they stood on two legs or four. "It was my pleasure to be of service, and I'll gladly assist you again, should the need arise." He grinned cheerfully, meaning what he said. He knew nothing of medicine or healing, but it always fascinated him to watch Hanna's deft skills. "I... hope you don't mind... if..." His voice trailed off into a mighty yawn, the drowsiness catching up to him. All the excitement was now overwhelming, and the big male settled his chin on Hanna's dark-furred shoulder, drifting into an almost immediate sleep.
