bit by bit torn apart, we never win

Birthing thread, Alexey, Haku, Svara, Cercelee welcome, anyone else can join if they know Firefly, she's not one to actually just let/want strangers show up.

Firefly had just left the Rosea behind in the park, the twinge of pain that kept interupting her thoughts and words with the leader had finally grown to be serious enough for the Acer to attempt to return to her cottage and lay down for a while. She really wasn't feeling so swell and though it was cold out she could feel the heat of her body warning her. The bronzen woman had turned down the lane to where Haku's home was located, her eyes trailing on the house as she meant to pass it by but as she was a surge of pain rippled across her body as the women let out an alarming high pitched yelp before dropping down to huddle close to the ground to ride out the wave of pain coursing through her body, her water breaking as she just sat there whining to herself, the woman who wasn't afraid of anything was afraid for once.

Once the pain had resided the woman gave up attempting to move herself to the vineyards, instead she rose to shaking paws and moved inside the home that she shared sometimes with her mate and Svara. She'd been surprised for once that day that she hadn't had a little shadow behind her the whole day but she figured the kid must have been off bothering Haku's daughter or Haku himself.. or the two of them were heckling the woman together. She didn't know but at the moment she didn't care. She walked quietly into the house, trying to remain as calm as possible as she shifted along the outside of the livingroom and moved on past into the small study that resided in the back. The golden bronze woman didn't know what possessed her to climb into the papason but the young lady curled up halfway and closed her eyes as another wave of pain tore at her frame.

Honey-hued eyes frantically scanned the area for any sign of her younger friend. Alexey knew what was going on. Not only had she heard the yelp, but it was as if she could feel Firefly’s fear and pain. She had been smart enough to stay close to the Acer over the last day or two; making sure to stay out of sight. Lexey wanted to be there for her friend should an emergency such as this one arise. Her reactions came naturally; she was at Firefly’s side within minutes. The Bluet didn’t care whether she was allowed in the cabin or not, and at this point, she simply didn’t give a damn. Hell, she wasn’t even sure if Firefly would accept her help, but she wasn’t going to leave unless Firefly requested it. No, scratch that, they were going to have to drag her out of there because she wasn’t leaving no matter what.

“Firefly?” she murmured, gently nudging the woman with her nose. She was no apothecary, far from it. The only thing she had to offer was comfort. “Hang in there, my little lightning bug.” Taking a step back, Alexey adopted a sitting position beside the papason chair. Firefly needed her space, it was obvious. Lexey could only hope her presence would be enough to calm the younger lady.

Firefly hadn't expected anyone to appear since she hadn't scented Haku in the home, she'd enjoyed that fact for a brief moment before the pain had set in again. She had her ears pinned back against her skull as the sound of Alexey's voice broke the silence of the home. She flicked one forward as she opened her eyes and turned her face towards the golden lady as she whispered. "What am I doing.." Firefly had no clue how to raise puppies, she had no clue what she was even doing right now, luckily it was one of those things that was ingrained into every female and thought fear had stolen into her heart the process was already being taken care of by the computer within.

Her emerald eyes searched Alexey's for a moment at the silly little pet name the woman had given her, once her own mother had called her that but she never told anyone that. She never really had dove down into those little memories of the past and she doubted she'd find a reason to ever do that. She turned away from Alexey as the waves came crashing against her body again as the prcess began.

She didn't know how long she'd pushed and panted but in the end she found herself staring down in wonder at the small forms of three puppies laying clcose against her chest. She lowered her nose down to the tiny white and silvery form of one puppy that lay there too still even for her. She lifted her face up to look at Alexey as a soft whine caught in her throat. "What did I do wrong.." she asked. There were a million guilty reasons that echoed in her mind on why the tiny figure wasn't breathing but she didn't want to face them and she couldn't. Nestling the stillborn puppy closer to her side she licked the two remaining children softly, tiny squeaks calling out in protest as they were disturbed.

Her emerald eyes gazed at the two small earth toned males that suckled greedily against her belly, unknown that they were being studies and stared at in wonder. The two little innocent souls knew nothing of who their parents were and they were lucky at that. They were a perfect mix of both parents, rich brown mellowing out to bronze and gold. She smiled at the beauty of the children before looking back to Alexey, uncertain what she was to do next.

The young wolf heard firefly. Her young ears perked and she stood stalk still for only a few seconds, a dead rabbit at her paws. Without even thinking she left the fresh prey and ran for the cabin. Her long legs moved in long fast gapping strides to where home was. That sound hadn't been far, but it had been pain filled. The snow was cold and light against her paws as she ran closer and closer. For once the girl could almost feel fear for another, but she didn't think on her pride and continued to run.

The moment she was near the cabin the scent of another female was there, one Svara didn't know. A growl went through her as the familiar scent of blood was almost hanging close by. Running up the steps and into the back door by the kitchen, Svara moved through the house to the back study finding firefly and this unknown female. She knew then what was going on. The sight of birth and the smell, but Svara was uneasy about the stranger in the house. Growling deep and threatening the young she wolfs back fur rose. Passing the unknown wolf with her head lowered and yellow eyes warning she moved to firefly's side.

Looking at the pups Svara tilted her head and moved closer almost curious about the small mewing things. The sight of the white ones stillness made Svara's heart leap into her throat. One of them hadn't survived from the attack. Bile rose in her throat at the sight. Looking towards the newly made mother the pup let the dead pup fall from her mind. "Looks like you'll have more brats to worry about now." Looking over her shoulder Svara's smile faded with the sight of the stranger. "Who are you?"

Alexey had remained by her friend’s side throughout the whole birthing process, both of her front legs shaking uncontrollably with anticipation. She suddenly had a newfound admiration for the new mother, who was going through incredible pain with such grace and elegance. Every once in a while, she would gently nudge Firefly as if to say “don’t give up”. Once it was all over, Lexey curiously took a step forward to peek at the newest pack members. Three tiny puppies were there, the two darker ones healthy and well. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for the silver-colored runt. A lump caught in her throat as she laid eyes upon the remaining puppy, wondering why life was so cruel at times.

It took Alexey a little while to regain her bearings as she watched Firefly cuddle close to her stillborn child. It was a terrible sight. She was hurting for her pack mate. What did I do wrong? The tawny woman shook her head, swallowing hard before providing a reply. “You did nothing wrong. It’s not your fault.” She smiled reassuringly before turning her attention back to the two boys.

It wasn’t long before something else caught her attention. The Bluet hadn’t expected anyone to come barreling through, especially not someone she’d never seen before. The youngster bore the smell of Dahlia de Mai, which is why Lexey did not interfere with her coming any closer. However, as the kid emitted a threatening growl, the Koios femme couldn’t help but return the favor by slightly baring her pearly whites.

Her attention was entirely focused on the stranger, scrutinizing the adolescent’s expression as she caught glimpse of the dead puppy. For a moment, the sandy wolfess thought the kid was going to hurl. “I’m Alexey, a friend of Firefly’s. And who are you?” she retorted, saffron eyes examining the youngster from head to toe.

It was sometime after Firefly had left her at the park that Cercelee came by Haku’s home by chance and heard the commotion that was going on within. Ears falling flat against her skull she approached slowly, cautiously. The voices inside were those of Alexey and Svara and she wondered if some sort of conflict had arose with the two, though it was not her home she felt the right to approach at the moment. Pausing at the door the scent of after birth and the sound of squeaking pups floated out to the Rosea and Cercelee relaxed, entering slowly into the dwelling.

Eyes fell onto the two females huddled about Firefly’s resting spot and then onto the new mother herself. Absent mindedly nodding to the hot tempered soon to be adult and the sweet Koios female Cercelee moved between them and closer to the children. Navy eyes fell on the stillborn but quickly blocked the sight out. There were two that were alive, and after the incident with the bear Firefly was lucky to have them. The two wiggling puppies, contentedly suckling their mother captured Cer’s attention and she could help drawing closer and poking one gently with her nose.
The small male let out a squawk as the wetness of the nose touched him but quickly forgot about the foreign sensation and went back to working on his mother’s teat. Looking up Cer met Firefly’s eyes and smiled warmly. Despite their differences and Firefly’s initial distaste for the pregnancy this was a moment they could both celebrate. “They are beautiful.” And she meant it, though aesthetically newborns were not the prettiest sight in her book. Yet these children were. They were born of her two cousins, and two of her biggest rivals in the pack, yet they were the first of their kind. The first to be born in Dahlia de Mai. The first to be fully blooded to the pack.

Firefly was tired, but when Alexey had spoken of the puppies and how it wasnt' Firefly's fault she smiled weakly, unsure of how she felt about the fact that she had been responsible of her child's life. She'd thought she would have no problem killing the children if it had come down to that but it seemed that she was wrong. The dark lady did seem to have a place where she would yield, though she hadn't known it til this moment. A little voice warned her though that once they were grown she might no longer feel the same towards the small ones she'd carried for two moons. She shook her head as she looked down to them and sighed. "They're so tiny.." she said softly, her eyes eyeing them doubtfully, how could something so small be so scary.

It didn't seem to take long before the house was alive with the sound of another in the building, the hairs on her neck stood on end as she raised her head quickly and growled softly, the sound almost instantly returned, as Svara came into view. Firefly stopped almost instantly upon seeing the girl as she laid her head back down, sleepy from all the work and excitement of the birth of the two newest members of Dahlia de Mai. She watched Svara join the small group, ignoring the comments she'd made towards Alexey, knowing that the tawny woman would be able to hold her own again the loud mouth quick tempered young on.

Firefly herself bared her fangs lightly at Haku and her's ward as she shook her head. "Just wait til the little rats are bigger, I'll train them to follow you everywhere.." She said with slight glee in her eyes at finally being able to get back at Svara for all the little things the girl had spent her time trying to make Firefly's world hell. She doubted that the puppies would have any chance with Svara but she never knew, they could surprise her, and she hoped they would.

She was just about to ask if either of the woman had seen her unfaithful mate lurking about when the Rosea herself seemed to appear out of nowhere. She really was like a ghost, just appearing when no one was paying any attention. Firefly froze as the woman joined the others in the room, she watched as her leader seemed to study the lives she'd brought into the pack, Firefly trying her hardest to cover the lifeless form as she saw those eyes scanning over the puppies. She felt uneasy being under the watchful eye of so many when the woman was use to being allowed to do her own thing. She almost held her breath until the ivory lady spoke.

Firefly lowered her gaze at the words from the leader and quietly murmured unsurely. "Are they?" Her emerald orbs turned back to the two small ones, all she'd seen when she'd stared at them were tiny lumps that might oneday resemble minuture versions of Haku or herself but she'd never seen tiny puppies before and didn't know if they were worthy of praise or if they'd been better off if she had drowned them.

Svara gave the unknown female a once over before blowing her off. She really didn't like others and this female was already at the top of the list somewhere with Cercelee or Flayra the irritating puppy. Watching the pups Svara didn't really enjoy the fact that she would have to be around small children again, and expecially ones that looked alot like her dead brothers, it was like living through mommy dearest all over again. So she would have to be scarcess around the cabin for 6 or 7 months, until the little whelps became something other then sqweaky toys for the crows.

When the white cotton ball of a leader came in Svara almost had the urge to turn and walk out of the room. Was this really the company firefly shared? An irritated groan emitted from her. Why did she have to part take in Cercelee and this other mutts company?! Sitting not far from the pregnant female Svar a kept her trapped shut not wanting to converse with the other two.

Dude. Leave it up Alexey to start shit after her friend just gave birth. D:

Alexey really didn’t appreciate the lack of respect coming from the youngster. Not providing an answer to her question was one thing, but the irritated groan she had emitted when the Rosea appeared made the Bluet flinch with annoyance. The tawny girl knew that Cercelee was a little too laid-back for her own good, and it saddened her to see that her own pack members weren’t able to treat her with the respect she deserved. Did they not realize how fortunate they were? “Hey twirp. Answer my question and greet the Rosea properly before I show you what discipline is,” she hissed vehemently, taking a step toward the rebellious adolescent. Now definitely wasn’t the right time to pick a fight with anyone but Alexey couldn’t help herself. She already couldn’t stand the little shit.

She now filled the void between Firefly and the youngster, saffron eyes staring down coldly at the untamed teenager. Firefly had been a lot like the Papaver at that age, but never had she spoken to Alexey with such disrespect. This teenie bopper had two choices; she could either test the Koios femme’s limits or walk away.

Svara’s usual greeting went beneath Cer’s radar until she heard the sharp tones of Alexey. Turn her eyes upon the two women, Cercelee grinned to herself. Perhaps Alexey would have more luck than Cercelee had in the past with the small she-devil. It was encouraging to hear Alexey stand up not only for herself but also for her Rosea but Cercelee doubted the teenager would take the words to heart.
Turning back to Firefly she nodded to the female. They were beautiful, perhaps only because they were the epitomes of new beginnings, which many wolves Dahlia desperately sought after. Or perhaps their beauty was just something they had, unexplainable. Noting the squabble behind her she smiled down fondly at the new creatures, murmuring to them in a way she had thought she’d never do to newborns. “Poor fools, do you really have a chance in this pack? You’ll quickly have to learn to hold your own, huh? Of course you have a spit fire mother... Maybe you two will inherit it.” Or maybe they would inherit the darkness that lurked within Haku. Or maybe the puppies would be polar opposites of their parents, Cercelee was excited to watch this strange experiment of life and genetics develop.
This was not his day, why was the cottage full of fucking people that he had not invited? His cottage, no one elses. The only acceptable person in there was Svara, and that was only because she had claimed a bedroom as her own the night when she had first arrived on the borders and it had ended with Haku throwing her into a random room and locking the door. They had started off with great first impressions of each other, yet Svara was the only one he would have wanted to see when he came in. He had heard voices when he had come close enough to the cabin, and confusion had turned into frustration and stress. He could not smell the scene because he had (for some reason only known to him) dug his nose into mud that had decided to dry too fast, and since he was in his lupus form, he had not been able to clean it out.

This is not a fucking hotel! He stormed into the house and was well on his way into the room when he realized exactly what was happening. He stopped, seemingly in mid air, and stared at the scene with a blank face that slowly filled up with something that could seem like confusion. What the fuck, not already? Some part of him had assumed she would stay pregnant forever. It had felt like a long time, but truth was it had only been a few months, and the litter had needed to move out into the proper world. Why in his fucking house? Did she not have a home of her own? He had barely seen the female at all the last month, and now all of a sudden she started a goddamn nursery. Fuck. Why did this has to happen to him.
Svara stood in the room. The smells of birth waffing through the air and making her feel a bit nautious. Mostly it was the sound of the brown she wolfs voice that was making her irritable and sick to her stomach. She hated having to deal with ass holes like this. Self rightious pain in the asses. When Cercelee walked in and svara gave the white she wolf a rude welcoming the brown demon spawn seemed to take offense to the whole thing.

"Discipline? You might want to try doing that outside the house that I actually live in. Oh and while your at it Mrs. Shit make sure the door slams on your flat ass on the way out." Svara's voice was sarcastic and a that grin of hers was still on her face. The reddish bown female let her gaze go back to firefly and she trotted out of the room for a second going to her room and retreiving a deer skin then trotting back down stairs with the blanket in her jaw. She made her way over to the mother and put the blanket over her and close to the pups to make some more warmth. It was unlike her yes, but Svara didn't really give a shit she had her reasons for being the way she was.

When she laided down not far from the futton she smelt Haku coming. The smell of the male made a devious grin come to her face. The young female knew he wouldn't appriciate so many people in his home, or pups. Something about the male made her feel like her father was back from the dead. No, he did not resemble the dead male, but he acted alot like him. She could see the looks on his face the ones that stated his distaste, at least that was what Svara was reading it as. "Don't worry Haku how much touble could some runts be to you?" Svara let her eyes slide over alexy and Cercelee. "I mean you already have to deal with these muts." The female kept her eyes on that one female from before that had request respect from the wrong she wolf.

Firefly listened quietly to the scene that was beginning to unfold in the house. She couldn't help but smile to herself at the conversation that was taking place between Alexey and Svara. She knew that Alexey was a kindhearted soul but she was equip with enough spitfire of her own to take on the little brat, atleast for a round or two. She wondered if Alexey would let the kid bring her into another one of her childish games she so liked to play, but whatever happened between the two didn't seem that important seeing how Cercelee, the one who the insult was thrown at seemed to ignore the two bickering packmates just like Firefly was.

She moved enough to where Cercelee could get a better view of their newest packmates and family. Though Cercelee and Firefly had never really spoken of their connections as family they still knew it existed and silently the blood flowed still. She wrinkled her nose at the words that Cercelee seemed to coo to the puppies but after a second she just smiled, knowing everything she said was true. If they wanted to become shining little stars they'd have to show all the wonder and determination not to be left behind. She doubted that anyone in the pack would let them be left behind but puppies were born fighting and soon enough they'd all be watching them make their way up the ladder hot on the trails of the rest of the pack.

She hadn't shown any real change when Svara had left and returned with the deerskin that she'd arranged around Firefly and the puppies. She smiled at the quick mouthed girl and nudged her on before flashing a strange look towards Cercelee, hoping the leader wasn't going to make a comment on the strange ways of the almost grown kid. She knew better than to make a big deal of the workings of Svara but she wasn't for certain if the rest of the pack had learned how to live with the child with the rough edges.

The golden bronze woman had opened her maw to speak when the scent of the male entered the room and his voice seemed to shatter the world she'd been melting into. Svara had already let off some strange comment to Haku but that wasn't enough for Firefly. In a flash the Acer was upon her paws, her heckles raised as she disturbed the small ones, the distressed sound of the puppies deaf in her ears as she snatched up the form of her dead daughter and pushed past the pack as the emerald eyed Sadira stood before her mate, the anger in her eyes showing as she dropped the limp form of their brood at his feet before snarling. "Is this what you wanted, does this bring some sort of happiness to your poor excuse for a life!" She bared her fangs at the male as she paced back and forth, she wasn't going to let the male any further than he'd already come and if he tried to push her she'd push back and he'd discover that female's weren't always the weaker sex.

The child’s outburst did not impress her. By that time, Alexey had already established who the teenager was. Svara. Firefly had mentioned her a few days ago, and how she had put her children’s life on the line for this pain in the ass. Now that Lexey had finally met the kid, she couldn’t help but wonder why the Acer had endangered her puppies’ lives to save this worthless mongrel. A sick little grin spread across the tawny girl’s maw as she gladly returned the Papaver’s attitude. “I can discipline you all I want, just because I can. Too bad that bear didn’t rip your guts out.” she whispered, although it was loud enough for anyone to hear. Cercelee and Firefly both seemed to be ignoring their little argument anyway.

She’d turned her attention back to the two other females when the adolescent had trotted off and gone upstairs. Soon enough, Svara returned with a blanket and another problem came their way. This problem, however, was beyond Alexey’s control. She had nothing to say to Haku, seeing as this was something he needed to discuss with his mate. The Koios femme simply shot Cercelee an unsure look, as if to say “What now?” Firefly was all over him in a flash, and Alexey instinctively moved in to protect the newborn pups while their mother fought her own battle. Honey-hued eyes remained on the Rosea the whole time, waiting for an order that would allow her to take the cubs to a safer place.

The bickering in the background and Firefly’s relaxed state was suddenly shattered with the door bursting open and the booming of the Lilium’s voice. Hurridly Cer came to her feet, spinning to meet the eyes of the Lilium. Of course it was his house, and as the second highest ranking wolf in the pack he had the right to order everyone out, but Cer had the power to override him, especially in this case. There was no way she planned on leaving the newborns and Firefly alone with the male. After they had lived a few weeks and the risks of their deaths decreased drastically she would be less worried, but she knew Haku’s stance on his new found family and she wouldn’t jeopardize the lives of the first litter of Dahlia de Mai.
It was some sort of primal instinct that caused her to move her body and block Haku’s sight of the pups, and it seemed Alexey had acted on either similar instincts or love for her friend and the newborns. Turning her eyes briefly to Alexey, she nodded down at the pups, indicating that while Firefly was up and storming at Haku, the golden hued Circee should cover the newborns with her own body. She did not indicate to move them, just to keep them warm and covered. It they moved them it would only bring them more to Haku’s radar, and hopefully he was too busy with the angry female and dead child in his face to pay much heed to his living offspring.

Chaos reached higher levels, and it did not take many moments before his emerald eyed mate was in his face, twisted with disapproval of his arrival. Even though his focus was on her and what she said and did, the other Dahlia members' actions did not go unnoticed. There were few things that would have stung as much as that. The two females completely blocked out the view of whatever living children there were left, and a dead one had been dropped in front of him by the enraged mother of his children. He took a step back, and his eyes swiftly ran across the room, meeting the eye of every canine that had had turned their attention to what was happening. Firefly's harsh words had entered his ears, but he had not needed to make any sense of them to get what she was saying. Every back was turned at him, and every door shut. With a swift movement yet so careful as if the dead child was still alive, he picked the pinkish gray figure up from the floor and turned around with a last glance that revealed to them all that they had hit jackpot. Haku's heart had officially been ripped open, and in that small moment, he had not been able to hide the pain.

He left the cottage behind and headed for the old graveyard. He made sure not to be too close to the pack border when he picked a decent spot for the child's grave. A small angel in the form of a human child with wings gazed down with eyes full of sorrow as he filled up the small hole where the small child would rest for all eternity. He was a monster, true, but not the one they believed he was.

Anger. It was an emotion Svara felt almost every second of her life. She liked it that way, but rage wasn't something she felt often, not like this. This burning emotion that was so deep in her young gut it could make her hurl. Cercelee, the stranger and firefly all had shown what they were today and the pup was far from interested. Cercelee went to cover the pups when firefly thew the dead baby at Haku's feet and alexy made way to block the pups as well. Their actions were beyond wrong, they were disgusting.

The moment he left Svara had had enough. "YOU FUCKING ASS HOLES!" She roared. Her tall and lean young body shaking with uncontroled rage. The usually husky female voice was deep and beyond pleasent. "You call your selves a mother fucking pack but you do this to one of your highest ranks?!" Her voice boomed around them. Svara's yellow eyes went to the white she devil and a look of disgust formed over her features. "You are beyond a back stabbing wench. Fucking pick what side your on with him! Is he a monster!? OR DO YOU TRUST HIM!"

Next Svara's eyes went to firefly. The one female she had expected better from. Svara had her bondries as to how far you can hurt some one, at some point it wasn't hurting, it was just wrong, death was more merciful. "I thought better of you. That pups death was probably my damned fault. Guess you are just like the other flea ridden mutts in this pack." Svara spat at the womens feet and turned and ran out, she went after Haku, tracking the paw prints in the snow. The young female didn't care about the three females left behind, their actions had been what she judged them by.

Firefly didn't care what was going on behind her as she stood between her mate and the living litter. The lifeless form of their daughter between the two as she growled, threatening him to take a step closer. The look in his eyes told her all she needed to know of what the other females of the pack her doing in the shadows as Haku seemed for once defeated in the face of the pack he'd served for so long. Her sharp anger filled emerald eyes didn't leave the form of her Lillium as he gathered up the form of the Sadira girl, she would have looked just like the truer lines of the family, beautiful as her aunt and cousin and yet she was nothing now. "Take her then.." she spat as she turned away from his exiting form. "Be the perfect father to her, atleast you got part of your wish." she snarled.

When the cruel words that Svara spat at the lot of them and the scene she created ontop of the one that Firefly had already left up in flame started the Acer just snarled at the child, almost lunging upon her to as she stood her ground and spat. "Shut up Svara, you don't know the half of what you're saying." She growled as the girl left hot on the heels of her mate, "You've no right to judge me.." she snarled. "Go sooth his broken heart.. " she hissed, her eyes flaring in rage once more as she watched the dark little bitch exit as well before she turned back to the Rosea and her friend. She was quiet a moment as she just blinked away the hot tears that threatened.

She didn't hate her mate, just what he pretended to be, what he chose to ignore and what he let slide by. He was the perfect example of a character one should never fall for. What could she say, she loved the bad boys and Haku was just that.. or atleast once he had been. She wasn't sure what had happened to him or even what had happened to her. She just stood there trying not to meet the gaze of the two woman as the calm seemed to take over the house once more.

The Rosea’s message was crystal clear and Alexey did exactly what was required of her by forming a protective cocoon around the newborns with her body. Her ears were laid flat against her head as she watched the scene unfold before her. Firefly was out of control; even Haku knew better than to stick around. Never in a million years would she have expected the Lillium to admit defeat, especially not in front of so many fellow pack mates, but he did. The Circèe swallowed hard as she watched the chocolate male leave his own house, then she felt a pang of guilt. It was intensified tenfold when Svara threw a hissy fit and stormed off after him.

Lexey’s upper lip curled into a sneer. “Can someone tell me why her attitude is being tolerated?” she mumbled, mostly to herself. It was easy to see that Firefly was purposely avoiding direct eye contact with the two remaining females, which made Alexey feel a little uneasy. She was hesitating between leaving and giving the new mother some time to think things through, or sticking around and providing some moral support. Once again, honey-hued eyes turned to meet Cercelee’s gaze. The silence was deafening. Alexey finally broke the protective barrier around the puppies and returned to her seat beside the papason chair, waiting for someone to say something, anything.

Haku’s reaction had surprised the Rosea. His words and wishes for the swift cessation of Firefly’s pregnancy has been no secret, and Coli’s arrival had reminded Cercelee that if the pups live they would not have the stellar father they deserved. And so it struck Cer as strange watching her Lilium tenderly picking up his dead child, had she inherited more of her grandmother’s nastiness she might have made a comment about her cousin going to eat his dead young, but as it was Cer knew well enough that he was going to bury his child. For a small moment she felt pity for him, and then the unattended issue of Coli surface and the small squeaks of the pups still safely surrounded by Alexey pushed any sympathy back to where it had come from.
Svara’s reaction however was no surprise and Cercelee merely stood her ground as the female raged and raved and finally stomped away. All this time she did not move but stood protectively in front of Alexey and the pups and for seconds after she kept her pose, as if the two wolves who had just left might resurfaced and harm the young. Finally she relaxed as Firefly turned back to them, her eyes skirting their’s.
“Svara is a child...
