Unclaimed part of Wolfville. 300+

Despite the fact that it was a cold and rather blustery day, the Italian wolfess had decided to take a bit of a trip. It had been far too long since she had been able to set eyes on the ocean. Admittedly the shoreline to the south was much closer to home, but she hadn't been up north in a long while. The last time she had been up this way was when she had escorted Cercelee back to Dahlia de Mai when she had recovered. That had been when Twilight Vale was still around. It almost seemed like ages ago even though it had only been a matter of months. While her coat would have provided extra protection from the cold, she had wanted to travel in her natural form today. It was faster and she was the most comfortable in it.

Savina was aware the the Dahlian border was off to the west, but she decided to keep moving outside of there. It wasn't that she didn't want to see anyone, she just didn't feel like waiting around for someone to come find her. The obsidian fey made her way to the shore and the little town that sat there. It was a cute little place and somewhat reminded her of the first pack she had come to in these lands. Sometimes she still wondered what had happened to those wolves. They had come from the same country as she had, and had seemingly just disappeared into thin air. She didn't bother herself with those thoughts much though. After all, she had much more pressing matters at hand most of the time.

Walking into one of the shops to get respite from the cold air she shook out her coat. Emerald eyes looked up and found all sorts of trinkets hanging from the rafters. Many of the little things had shells on them. Her own shell that her mate had given her tapped lightly against her chest from its silver chain. Savina began to browse through what occupied the lower half of the shop. A familiar shape caught her eye and she walked over to look at the dried form of a starfish on a shelf.

An infallible smile adorned the Circèe’s features, accompanying her wherever she went. Alexey was genuinely happy for once, and she refused to let anyone rain on her parade. Her pessimistic attitude was no more: her darkened thoughts had been disposed of. She was back to being her old self again and seeing the positive side of things above all. She had been reunited with her siblings, and despite their incessant bickering, Alexey was happy to have them around. Of course, that was something she would never say out loud; especially not in front of Adelaida. And if that wasn’t enough to cheer her up, Kol‘s return to Dahlia de Mai certainly was. Alexey had also earned a co-rank, one that would require her to care for Firefly’s two little boys. What else could she ask for? She had everything.

Lexey was simply taking a stroll through the olden town when she caught a glimpse of another wolf through one of the frosted windows. A normal person would’ve probably kept on walking and ignored the stranger, but not Alexey. Curiosity was one of her major flaws: she just had to take a look. The tawny girl pushed the door open and stepped inside, hoping to get a clearer view of the obsidian lupine. Surprisingly, it took her a few seconds at most to figure out who the other female was. “Savina!” she exclaimed, truly happy to see the Italian lady after all this time.

She prodded at the form of the starfish with her nose. The little spikes on its body tickled her nose and put a warm smile on her face. Back in Italy she had spent lots of time on the beach with her mother and siblings. Playing in the surf, digging up shells and seaweed, toying with the crabs and gulls. Whenever they had been lucky enough to find a starfish it had been an inordinately special treat. Mother had told them that the sea creatures would bring them good luck. Whether that had been true or not was debatable, but Savina still liked to think it. She made a note in her mind where the star fish was. She wanted to take it home and show Kansas. Had he ever seen one before? If not he would soon.

Emerald orbs drifted over the other trinkets that were housed here. There were vast amounts, and all had something to do with the ocean. It made her feel at home and calm. Almost like she was surrounded by dear friends. Shells of every shape and color hung from all places. There was a glass box filled with perfectly intact and pristine sand dollars. Pictures with dolphins hung on the walls. Shark's jaws were on display. There was even a shelf with shark's teeth. Those would be fun to bring home too! Maybe some of the pups would like them. Haven surely would, she imagined.

As someone else unexpectedly entered the building the wolfess turned to see if it were anyone she knew. They both sized each other up for a few moments. There was something familiar about her, but what was it? It wasn't until the other exclaimed her name that she was able to connect the dots. "Alexey!" Savina had never seen the Dahlian female shifted before. That had been why it had been difficult to place her. "It's been a while! How have you been?" Her tail waved happily from side to side. They had switched places. This time it was her who had taken a recent beating. Though the cuts were now scars that were slowly beginning to be hidden by her midnight coat.

A vague feeling of satisfaction surged through her mind. She hadn’t stopped to think that Savina might not remember her after all these months, and luckily she didn’t have to. Despite her slight hesitation, the obsidian lady eventually uttered the right name. Lexey let out a relieved sigh, pleased to find out that she hadn’t been forgotten. There was something serene about the Crimson Dreams wolfess; it was no secret that Alexey enjoyed the times she’d spent with her. During their last encounter, the Circèe had played the role of the damsel in distress, and Savina had provided the warmth and comfort she’d needed without thinking twice about it. To this day, she still couldn’t quite understand why she’d chosen Savina over her closer friends that day. Regardless of what had pushed her to seek out the obsidian lass in particular, Lexey now knew that it had been the right decision.

Smiling softly, the Koios femme gladly provided a reply to the question thrown her way. “I’ve been doing okay. I left for a little while to go visit my mother and just recently came back. A lot has changed. My siblings joined Dahlia de Mai, though I’m not too thrilled about that,” she said a little too honestly. Truth was, she didn’t mind having Sankor around. What puzzled her most were Adelaida’s motives. “Enough about me though! What’s new with you?” she said, saffron-colored eyes scrutinizing the woman’s now healing wounds.

It was good to see that the tawny girl had recovered since their last meeting. She hadn't been in horrible physical shape, but she had seemed deeply rattled emotionally. But now she appeared to very happy and content. It was a nice change to see take place. Savina reclined back to her haunches as they began to talk, nodding her head at Alexey's words. The mention of her siblings brought back the memory of her not-so-pleasant encounter with the other Koios girl. How strange that she had decided to join a pack. Even more so that she had been accepted. "With a sister like that, I can't say I blame you..." If her friend hadn't shown that apprehension in the matter, she wouldn't have said such a thing. It wasn't her place to go bad-mouthing someone's blood. But Adelaida had left a very bad taste in her mouth.

The Marino felt her companion's eyes on the scars that ran over her legs and chest. It was easy for her to tell when someone else was looking at them for she herself had studied her physique critically all too often. She decided to avoid the topic unless directly questioned though. If Alexey asked then she wouldn't keep it from her, but she had spent the better part of a month climbing out of the hole she had put herself in. "Oh, not too much. Still helping Naniko run Crimson Dreams, keeping an eye on the pups, border duties, all that sort of thing." A warm, somewhat sheepish smile crept onto her lips. "I...do have a mate now though." Kansas was the man of her dreams. Thinking about him always made her smile.

Honey-hued eyes widened in surprise as the dark lass made a rather bold comment about Adelaida. She definitely hadn’t expected Savina to know who her sister was. But it seemed Ade had done quite a lot of ‘socializing’ during Lexey’s absence, obviously earning more enemies in the process. Firefly had it made it clear that she disliked Adelaida’s attitude, and now Savina was about to do the same. How many people had her sibling offended? Shaking her head in an apologetic manner, the tawny girl finally spoke up. “I’m sorry if she said anything out of line. She’s a little insecure around people in general.” The Circèe lowered her gaze to the floor, remembering how Adelaida had reacted when she’d found out that Alexey was a Luperci too. “Should see the way she treats me now. It’s like I have some kind of contagious disease or something.”

Savina’s good news was enough to lighten the mood though. The twinkle in her eyes when she spoke of her mate was beautiful to watch. Alexey hadn’t exactly experienced true love yet, but the brief romance that had occurred between her and Aiden Oriel had definitely been special. The Dahlian girl suddenly brought her hand up to touch her triskele necklace, noting that Savina had a pretty one too. “Congratulations honey! Did he give you that necklace?”

Now that the words were out she felt a bit sorry for it. That really wasn't like her at all, to talk ill of anyone. But the annoyance and anger and hurt that Adelaida had brought to the surface had just reentered her mind. They had been having a perfectly pleasant conversation until she had gone off and starting throwing harmful names around. Savina's temper was pretty hard to rise, but once it was it was a force to be reckoned with. The Italian fey shook her head.
"No, there's no need for you to be sorry. None of that is your fault." Alexey wasn't her sister's keeper, nor should she be. One eyebrow raised at her friend's next words. Now, that was very peculiar.
"A contagious disease? You mean one that she already has." It made her upset that she would act that way towards her own sister, especially when she herself was a luperci as well. What a hypocritical coward.

As she was congratulated she felt her cheeks grow hot beneath her inky fur. She really wasn't one to go around tooting her own horn, but somehow this was different. It wasn't as if she were trying to brag or rub it in. It had been such a sudden and special thing that she couldn't help but to share it. Savina had, while always wanting one, never really thought that she would ever find a mate. The damage her sire had done to her confidence in males had been grave. But Kansas was almost the opposite of Serge in every way. "Thank you! Yes, he made this for me. I never take it off. It helps remind me of him even when we aren't together." With the necklace, she always had his love close to her heart. Her eyes scanned up to where Alexey's hand had went. "That's an interesting design. Was that a gift from someone?"

The tawny girl felt a little relieved when she saw that the other femme had enough common sense not to associate her with Adelaida. They truly had nothing in common, personality-wise that is. When Savina dropped the bomb, Lexey had to lean onto a nearby table for support. Her legs were threatening to give out right then and there. What was this all about? The Italian wolfess’ words replayed in the back of her mind and Alexey tried to make sense of them. She understood what Savina was trying to tell her, but there was a part of her that refused to believe it. It all seemed so surreal; Adelaida, a luperci?

“What? That’s not possible,” she said convincingly, but deep down she knew that Savina would never lie about such things. There was a flash of fury in her eyes as she focused on her last encounter with Adelaida. “Fuck you, I’m done with you.” had been the words the masked femme had used before storming off and leaving Alexey behind. “How could she do this to me? That hypocrite,” Her head was spinning uncontrollably and for a moment, the Dahlian lady thought she was going to hurl. How could Adelaida treat her this way when she was a luperci herself? It didn’t make any sense. “Are you sure she’s really a shifter, Savina?” she asked, hoping that this was all some kind of mistake.

The Koios girl wondered if her family would ever be the same. She could not remember the last time she’d had a pleasant conversation with her siblings; they always had something to fight about. It took a lot of effort, but Alexey managed to snap out of it long enough to offer a weak smile. “He sounds like quite a catch,” she murmured before turning her attention to her own necklace. “It’s a gift from an old friend, Aiden. We had a thing but… he’s gone.”

Savina was a little taken aback by Alexey's reaction to the news of her sister. Had Adelaida not told her? Had she berated her and called her a monster and kept the fact that she was no different in the dark? Honestly, she wouldn't be at all surprised if that were the case. What a selfish, spiteful little bitch that Koios wolf was. The onyx girl was usually pretty accepting of everyone and it took a lot for her to feel so negatively about someone. So the way she thought of the masked female was certainly a statement. "That's just it. She is a hypocrite. And a damn coward at that. She has no problem throwing her words about but the moment someone reacts poorly to them she cowers like a pup." There was an edge to her voice that was not usually there. Seeing what had been done to her own sister brought up all those feelings of anger and hurt. "As surely as one can trust the word of someone like her. Once I began to leave after being called a monster, in a pathetic attempt to make things better she stammered out that she was one of 'us' too."

She had no idea what it was like to lose someone you had that sort of relationship with. Kansas was her first, and only, love. No one had ever taken any interest in her before. It hadn't helped that she had been far too shy to even try to initiate anything either. The thought of the careless male that sired her had always been lurking in the back of her mind, holding her back. The fey hadn't wanted to be hurt like her mother had. Amata had been strong and kept the pain from her children for the most part, but Savina knew how it tore at her. "Oh...I'm sorry to hear that Alexey." Her eyes held a deep sincerity, though she didn't know what else to say.

I'm making Alexey run off to find Adelaida. FIGHT! =X

Alexey couldn’t shake the feeling of betrayal eating away at whatever composure she had left. She remained quiet, amber eyes staring hard at the wooden floor beneath her paws. It just didn’t make any sense. What the hell was going on? Savina couldn’t have described Adelaida any better than she already had. It sounded exactly like her to start trouble and then play the victim when things didn’t go her way. The Circèe had seen it happen too many times, and that little act of hers was getting old. If Adelaida had admitted to being a shifter, it probably was the truth. Alexey didn’t think her sister would go around pretending to be one of ‘them’ for shits and giggles. “That conniving little bitch,” she growled, her tone of voice dripping with animosity. The hurt she’d been feeling evolved into something dangerous; untamed anger.

The Koios girl didn’t want Savina to see this side of her, but her emotions were taking slowly taking over. She wanted her sibling to feel pain; the same pain she’d been feeling since their last encounter. Alexey took a deep breath in a desperate attempt to calm down. Her gaze then met the other femme’s emerald eyes as if seeking an answer to her problems. She didn’t know what to say or what to do. “She’ll pay for this,” was all she said. All she wanted to do was find Adelaida right now. “I-“ she paused, wondering if it was in her best interest to find her sister right now. “Savina, I have to go. I’m sorry.”

oh snap! :o

It was all too easy to recognize what was going on inside of Alexey because it had happened to her on many occasions. Whenever she had been forced to deal with Serge, the wolf who had sired her, a white-hot flame of hatred and pain had burned inside of her. The bastard had convinced Amata that he loved her and then as soon as she was pregnant dumped her and the litter he had helped create like a bad habit. Sometimes she thought it would have been better for all of them if her mother had left that pack. Maybe she thought once they were born Serge would come around. But he hadn't. He had just treated them like any other member of the pack.

While she understood what her friend was going through and would make no move to stop her, she couldn't help but feel a little concerned. But there was nothing she would feel right doing. Adelaida deserved whatever was coming for her. The prejudiced female had no one to blame but herself and her selfish thoughts. Savina looked back into Alexey's eyes and nodded her head. "I understand." There really was nothing else to say or do.
