For Firefly <3

pushitinThe air was chilled, the zephyrs that blew through the lands filled with snowflakes, falling in flurries to cover the ground. The ebony fae that was sitting just inside the borders fluffed her long fur once again, trying to keep the cold away from her body, she was never too bothered by the cold, but when she had been standing in the same spot for what felt like hours she was suddenly aware that it was cold enough to snow, cold enough that she should be losing the feeling in her fingers, she hadn't yet, after all she was a hardy femme and refused to be beaten by such a simple thing as weather. She stifled a yawn with her hands, running a finger down the scar that cut across her right eye and down her muzzle, she yawned again. Soran's jade eyes scanned the landscape before her, her velvet ears swivelling this way and that, the pair of silver hoops in the tip of her left ear glinting in the sunlight as she took in the sounds of the lands, the sounds of the small animals who were foraging for food and the hardier birds who had stayed on during winter twittering in the branches of gnarled trees, and the faint whisper of the wind as it rushed through the lands. It was fairly quiet and still, even though it was swiftly turning into noon, the ebony fae had been standing here since dawn, she wasn't sure why, she had been happily dreaming and then the nightmares had come and she had found herself out here, lost in thoughts of her pups, and Hollow, the bastard who had fathered them.

pushitinBut now the dark lady was happier to take in her surroundings, so this was Dhalia De Mai, the pack that hated coyotes and hybrids, had gone as far as to war with the Inferni. The ebony grandmother did not quite understand why they felt that way, she had not ever fully comprehended the politics of it. But she supposed she understood the hatred of coyotes, she remembered the brutal attack on Aremys by the Inferni, when they had been driven back across the lands, away from their beloved seaside home, she remembered watching wolves die at their hands, the brutality of it all, the way she had had to fight fiercly to protect her young son. Hybrids however, she had mixed feelings on, after all technically her sons and daughter were not pure blooded wolves, and their father was evil... and a hybrid, but she couldn't see that as making every single hybrid bad, after all her son was the light of her life, he had done terrible things, that much was true, but underneath it all his heart was still purer than any other she had ever known. In fact, when she thought back on it properly she was sure that Hollow had been there at the attack on Aremys, perhaps it was not all coyotes and hybrids that were evil, but those who allowed their minds to be poisoned by the evil red male. As far as the ebony fae was concerned it was easier to give everyone a chance, you could not hate someone instantly because of who their parents were, their breed, their colour. The dark lady knew all too well of discrimination of that kind, her father had been set on killing her after seeing that she was dark pelted, he had gone as far as to slay her mother for even bearing her. She couldn't face the idea of instantly cutting a group of wolves, or even coyotes out of her life simply because they were coyotes, it was true that she hated the Inferni wolves who had been at the fight at Aremys, but that was because of what they had done, not their lack of wolven genes.
pushitinSoran waited patiently, wondering if Deuce would happen past and see her sitting upon the grass, her legs crossed as her green eyes continued to rove over the lands, scanning the horizon for any sign of life, she was still hoping to see her pale ex-lover wander over, to see her sat there and come over to talk, Soran missed her.

Firefly had taken the nearly one month old brothers out onto the proch to let them experiance their first taste of the bitter cold world they had been born into. She hadn't been out long with the litter before she'd caught the scent of a stranger near the lands. Her fur had bristled at the idea of someone who didn't belong near her puppies and swiftly and silently she'd picked up the two little ones and had placed them within the napsack that she had found in Haku's cottage. She didn't know what the leather bag had originally been used for but while the two boys were small it was an excellent sling to carry them about in.

The Sadira woman hadn't been in her luperci form in so long that it took her a moment after getting the boys into the pouch to gain her own bearing and realize where her center of balance was with the added weight. She growled a soft warning to the children as she set out upon the edge of the lands towards the scent that she knew did not belong. Bronze and gold glittered in her pelt as she stepped softly, between the trees she could see the dark fur of another as she turned her way towards the stranger. She paused for a moment as she studied the woman who was just sitting inside their lands. Firefly couldn't help but grow irritated with the bitch for choosing to make her stand inside their borders. There were miles of unclaimed lands for the woman to sit along and yet she decided she was going to sit her arse on theirs.

She stepped forward, her eyes narrowed as she caught the pack scent associated with the other woman. She wanted to sneer at the fact that the Crimson Dream's packmember didn't have the brains to sit outside their lands if she was waiting for someone or something to happen. Her voice was snappy as she came into the open and called out. "Who do you think you are?" those emerald eyes were flickering with annoyance at the woman, she had demands and they would be met. This creature did not belong to the pack and she did not want her here, not anywhere near her children or even inside the packlands. Firefly hadn't heard anything from Haku or Cercelee about any members from other packs having free reign anywhere within their territories and she wasn't about to let the woman have that.

pushitinSoran had totally been lost in her own thoughts, her mind had been wandering through the recesses of her mind, most of which she didn't mind, the happy memories that it brought to the surface were most plesant, like the way her ex-lover had looked when she had last seen her, so beautiful, so peaceful, but her thoughts kept dancing into the darker aspects of her mind, things that she did not particularly want to muse over on a day like today, Hollow, Rokus... all things that she didn't want to remember. It was almost a relief when a voice cut through her thoughts, snapping her from her reverie, though the words that were spoken to her were less than plesant. The dark lady raised her head, to focus upon the source of the voice, there before her stood a red-brown fae who looked oddly familiar, though the dark lady was sure that she had never met her before, the reality, the fact that Soran had had encounters with this fae's mother on a couple of occasions did not even cross the dark lady's mind, she wasn't that familiar. As the words sank in properly the lady rose to her feet, stretching out her long lithe limbs, before bowing her head low in a sign of submission, Soran was not sure of this fae's rank within the pack, whether she was just a power hungry lunatic or not, but that was irrelevant, after all she was a member of this pack and the dark lady was not, she had every right to be suspicious of the fae within her lands.
"Apologies if I am intruding miss, I did not intend to cause anyone offence, I was just waiting for a friend.” Soran replied with her head still bowed, a custom that she remembered well, a sign of submission, though she never usually had to use it, she supposed that was because Crimson Dreams was so much more like a family than a pack, everyone was greeted warmly and although there was a heavy aspect of mutual respect, and respect for those above you in rank, they rarely bothered with such behaviour as bowing away and tucking one's tail between one's legs and the like. She supposed that this pack simply ran more like a pack, and that was fine, it was there perogative to do so, even if Soran thought that it would be much easier, much smoother to get along with everyone if they were just friendly.
pushitinThe lady could not remember the last time that she had greeted anyone so harshly, she was usually polite to newcomers, she preffered to ask them nicely who they were and then throw them out if necessary, apparently this was not this lady's way. That was her choice though, the lady would give her the due amount of respect and politeness, even if her agressive greeting had riled her, the ebony grandmother could not stand rudeness, it was one of her pet peeves, she preferred it when wolves were willing to give a polite hello as they passed and if they were to see someone they did not know of their lands to tell them calmly and politely that they were not welcome here. But this was not her pack, and her opinion had no bearing here she supposed, she would never think of correcting this fae the moment that she had met her, especially upon her own lands, she would try and be warm and polite to her and see if that helped.
"My name is Soran Aatte, I am from Crimson Dreams, I assume that you are of this pack, may I ask your name?" Soran added, her head now raised, a hesitant smile playing on her lips. Her eyes fell to the bag at the girl's hip, it seemed to be moving slightly, perhaps she had something living in there? How very odd, she knew that these wolves had some odd beliefs, hating coyotes and hybrids (though she could understand hating some of the Inferni wolves, after the battle at Aremys), but carrying around living things in bags? Surely they didn't keep their prey alive long enough to toy with it? Or perhaps it was a companion, but surely they would be able to walk for themselves? The dark fae was most perplexed by this bag and it's potential contents.

IF it had been anyone else that the dark fae had come across she probably would have been perfectly fine in just speaking on regular terms.. but Firefly was a council member and she wasn't exactly the friendliest form in the pack either. She didn't like finding strangers idling along their borders, even if they did have reasons, as this woman seemed to think she had. The Acer bared her fangs slightly as she demanded. "Why didn't you just announce you were here.." she said plainly, "Only an idiot would sit in the snow for hours.." she wasn't for certain how long the dark lady had been there but by how strong her scent was she hadn't just arrived. She was glad that those few who seemed to want to seek her out from time to time were smart enough to go looking for her along the borders or atleast call out, she'd have wrung them a good one if she'd found them sitting like ducks for the kill like she had this female.

Frankly Firefly could care less for the woman who had imposed upon the packlands except for that one little bit, she'd chosen to sit inside their lands instead of outside the border. Like having a friend within the pack granted her that much access to the lands. The coppery gold woman knew these weren't really her packlands, that all in all she might be a member that Cercelee looked to to help maintain the pack but her words had no say in how things panned out in the final call. Right now though Firefly was the only wolf in sight and she was itching to give the bitch an earful for sitting there like a lump of coal.

It seemed that the woman was able to speak and soon enough she was speaking before Firefly, her manner giving to that of a submissive lower ranked wolf. Firefly's heckles lowered slightly at the show but she still kept her emerald eyes sharp on the lady as she spoke, the irish tenor coming out as she nodded slightly to the fae. "Firefly, and you'd assume right that I belong to this pack." she said, thinking to herself that the woman before her did not and wondering just what she was wanting as she caught the woman's sight drift to the pouch where her young children were.

Shifting her weight and her frame to where the pouch was in shadows again and moved a little out of sight she asked. "Is there anytihng I can help you with.." The words were dry, she didn't want to share what she was holding in the pouch with this stranger, the rest of the pack had barely known of their existance and she wasn't exactly one to howl to the rest of the packs of their news. She'd rather leave the children of Haku Soul out of the mainstream. Her mate wasn't exactly loved by the masses, and though his children were innocent she doubted that would be the first thing one another's mind upon finding out the father.
