all welcome
take place right after this thread

Her mind raced, but it still fell behind her paws. She left it back where the attack had occurred, watching the monster come at her again and again with fangs gleaming. The beast grinning at her, waiting for her to flinch before clutching her into his jaws, large clumsy paws had just gotten her away from his deadly teeth. The pain in her neck reminded her how close it had come, but the rest of her body had become numb as she fled the scene. Legs carried her until they grew so tired that it felt as if she ran on jelly filled stilts. The pain in her chest constricted her lungs making each breath laborious.

Jazper, the black-coated warrior had come to her rescue. Saving her from the crazed beast but she wasn’t sure if he was the victor of the battle or not. Had he survived? The question filled her mind, but still she couldn’t look back. Not for the briefest moment would she search for a sign he was alive. He would come for her, search and indubitably kill her. Instead she ran until the sight of the large manor filled her blurred and tear-stained view. Blood seeped from her small wounds, mixing with her dark coat. They would heal easily, but as she began to walk towards the house they were the least of her worries.

Her broad chest heaved, up and down, again and again. The air was too thick, suddenly becoming something that wouldn’t fit down her windpipe. Her lungs refused to accept it, and she was drowning among the melting snow just outside the white wooden fence that lined the yard. Painful breaths brought her just enough oxygen, but the sudden attack on the fragile organs within her ribcage was leaving little back dots in her view. Pulling and pushing the air in and out Mati found she couldn’t move a step closer. Standing as still as possible she fought the internal battle.

Zana had escaped from Inferni to explore the world. There were few times she actually left the clan's lands. There was a security there that she couldn't explain nor did she want to question. Her small frame had grown tired from the long walk across the territories but she was happy that she'd moved this far in such a short period of time. Ryan was use to Zana staying gone for a few days at a time but she knew that if she didn't return sometime soon that the older clan member would become concerned. She knew she shouldn't be inside the pack's lands but she was curious as to what the creatures who lived here looked like.

She hadn't seen many youngsters and she had been quite sad about that. Val and Siobhan were the only two that she ever really got to play with and she hated the fact that they seemed to grow so quickly while she was left behind. She never would tell her friends that but she wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't noticed over time. No one ever really mentioned or even teased the girl for being so small and so at times she was able to just let it slide but she still was perplexed about the fact that there seemed to be no other youngsters around. Life as a pup was very frustrating for Zana and she only wanted to grow up so badly.

Her sour thoughts were interrupted as she caught sight of another in her stroll through their territories. She paused a second and watched the strange girl sitting there gasping like a fish out of water. She was uneasy about approaching the girl but she did just that. Her steps quiet as the small figure came up beside the other, her voice soft as she asked. "Hey.. you okay?" Of course she wasn't ok, anyone could see that.. but what else was Zana suppose to ask.

sorry for the wait

Her legs shook, threatening to buckle from under her. Again and again she tried to breathe, and each time her lungs were denied. The violet eyes girl's lips grew blue from the lack of oxygen, and her head became lighter and lighter. Black dots played in her vision, and she swayed as she stood. A sound filled her ears, muffled and distant. The notion of another being brought her further out of her fight and daze, focusing on it and letting it pull her mind away from her fighting. It was female, and for a moment she thought it was her sister's. Looking up Mati faced the strange girl who stared at her, and for the first time felt the rush of air enter her chest. It inflated her, and she only had to battle for the second briefly. Mati shook her head at the question, before lying down against the soft grass. The air was sweet, soothed her aching chest and savored. Beyond relieved, the girl could only take in each breath until her heart no longer pounded in her ears. There was a wolf. She gasped between each precious inhale. Is he following?

She watched quietly as the other girl sat there like a fish out of water gasping and staring glassy eyed at the world. She wasn't sure what in the world she thought of the whole mess but she didn't like the sight of the other looking so pathetic and helpless. It seemed to take forever for the other to register that she was even there and in the dreaded minutes Zana became even more aware that she probably shouldn't be there, but no one else was checking on the other girl. She wouldn't get in trouble for trying to help would she..

When the words finally came through she glanced around and shook her head as she asked, "Are you gonna be ok?" There really did seem to be something wrong with the girl. She'd never met anyone who was just concerned if there were wolves following after them or not. There were lots of wolves in the lands and she couldn't tell what scent belonged and what didn't. She might have just lied to the other girl, she didn't know if she was still being followed or not. "I'm Zana.." she tried, hoping that she could atleast distract the girl enough to get her to return to normal for a moment or two. She didn't like being out of drift of all the information, and she felt very out of sorts right now.

It hurt to arch her neck upwards, the pain of the bite wounds flowing down her back. She was able to feel it now that her breathing was manageable, and she almost wished to loose her breath again to keep the pain away. Sure she would live Mati didn't bother announcing the injury, knowing if the male was in pursuit was far more important information. She looked up to the other's face, watched as she shook her head after checking their surroundings. Lowering her head, the girl rested. The adrenaline dwindled in her system, leaving her exhausted and dazed.

What was her name? Mati remembered and figured it was best to give her own. Mati, her name spoken as she exhaled. it wasn't until she had the strength to rise and turn her head painfully behind her, check herself that no one followed did she remember the answer the question that been asked. I dono. the tired girl spoke honestly to the smaller coyote creature. Though if she could guess she was say that she would be fine, and recover. Just as long as he didn't follow. Suddenly confused by her presence Mati questioned her, Who are you again? She knew that she had given her name, but Mati still didn't understand who she was and why she was here.

The small girl didn't exactly understand what had happened to the other puppy before her but she had just realized that the other was injured, the scent of blood teasing her nose as she moved back away from the girl. She had no idea what to do to help but now she was slightly confused as to what happened. She whined softly as she asked. "What happened?" She was beginning to think she already knew what happened but she didn't want to go assuming that the wolf had done this. Wolves were bad she knew, but they didn't just go attacking puppies, did they. She surely hoped not.

When the girl gave her a name she smiled slightly, still worried as she watched the other examining her wounds and answered Zana she began to relax a little. If the other girl could move and talk she didn't seem to be hurt too bad. What did Zana know though, she'd never been attacked by another wolf, except that crazy one, but he was from Dahlia de Mai and they were all bad, or atleast, they didn't seem to like her clan any. She flicked her eyes back to the other as she was asked once more who she was. Zana smiled shyly and answered. "I'm Zana Lykoi.." She was rather proud of the large family she belonged to and she didn't care what others thought, though so far no one had given her reason to care.

Mati found that the less she thought about the pain, and the less she focused on her breathing the less she felt either of them. It was as if they didn’t even exist. She had no problem, if she ignored it. The large pup even found that she could sit up and face the other female if she worked hard enough at ignoring the pain in her neck and chest.

Several moments passed after she spoke, and Mati gathered all she had to recount the episode for Zana. A wolf attacked me, for no reason. Crossed our boarder and just bit my neck. Jazper came and saved me, and then I ran. the recount of the fight was as quick as the event itself. Mati took a big relieved breath, and continued with as little fear in her voice as she could muster. He had yellow eyes, but I can’t remember his face. She was just happy that he hadn’t followed, and if she hadn’t started putting the even into the dark locked part of her mind she would start to grow worried for her rescuer. But all she could do was try to forget.

(my replied are getting worse as the night goes on..)

Zana's ears pinned back as the other girl began to sit up, she moved back a step as she gave the girl room, her eyes shifting from the wounds on the girl to the distance as she tried to believe that the monster who'd been after the other puppy wasn't going to come back to get both of them. She flicked her tail back and forth as she settled down and relaxed for just a moment in time.

She listened quietly as Mati began to explain just what had happened, Zana's eyes grew wide at the words as she gasped. "Are all wolves bad?" She whimpered as she admitted. "A big brown wolf with blue eyes tried to eat me once.." She had been told that wolves didn't like the clan but she didn't believe that they'd just go around trying to eat little children but it seemed that maybe everyone was right and they were horrible things. She sure was glad she belonged to the clan now, they would protect her from the horrible wolves.

Tongue

Mati looked to the other young girl, finally looking at her fully. She smelled of Siobhan, and thus of Inferni. But she didn’t know of any rivalry that they coyotes had against wolves and vise versa. She was very ignorant to the ways of the world, but she was still so young. But Zana’s question had an obvious answer, No, of course not. She was a wolf, and not bad at all. Mati had always thought that she was pleasant, but it made her wonder why the male had attacked her. Was there something wrong with her?

Purple eyes looked to the girl, she knew how it felt? Mati had never known that you could be attacked so suddenly and for seemly no reason at all. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that wolf. He doesn’t live here. Mati assured her that, knowing that they were safe. Or at least she hoped they were. Jazper was around, Mati was certain and there was always Haven who would be here in an instant if she called for him.

Where were you when that happened? She questioned, wondering if she was trespassing but not wanting to accuse her of such a thing.

Zana wasn't sure what type of answer to expect from the girl but when she told her that all wolves weren't bad she furrowed her brows as a slight pout appeared on her lips. She wasn't for certain if she believed the girl but she could try. There was only one problem. "If they aren't bad.. why was one chasing you?" She tilted her head to the side as she waited to see if the girl could give her a sensible answer. Perhaps Mati wasn't bad.. but she seemed to be finding too many bad wolves lately and little Zana didn't like it.

She didn't give her the answer she wanted but she did speak of the monster that had tried to eat Zana herself. When she asked where it had happened Zana shook her head as she glanced off towards the lands near Inferni. "Near home.." It was a sad thought that the little hybrid wasn't even safe right outside her own backdoor but she knew that the wolves didn't like her kind, even though she once had lived with them. She didn't doubt that DaVi wasn't bad, but he was like her.. and Jebbers as well. Why did there have to be bad wolves out there.. she wished she knew the answer.

Her little ears flicked back at the thought as she glanced over to Mati. "My mom was a wolf.. she did this to me.." she said as she pulled her tail tightly against her body, the ribbons that wrapped around her wounds bright against the rat like tail. Why she admitted such to the girl she didn't know.

Mati didn't like having to defend her kind, yes they were some bad ones as she had just encountered but that couldn't be true. She knew so many great wolves. Her mothers were wonderful, never capable of doing such evil things that Zana explained. It wasn't just males either, because Ehno and Jazper were good too. Jaz had saved her, chasing the male off as it he had been a stray cat. Or at least she was sure he had done that. Some can be bad. She spoke with a stubborn tone, looking down to the wrapped tail Mati was unsure what to make of it. That meant she had a bad mother, not a bad wolf mother. If she had been coyote she would have still been a bad mother.

But I live with an entire pack, who are good wolves. What your saying is that I'm bad too. So suddenly Mati didn't like the little yote that found it polite to talk to her about such things after she had just been attacked. In her young mind she was growing territorial, feeling the need to claim that space as hers so that the other would leave her and her home. Preach about bad wolves to someone who wasn't a wolf.

Zana was skeptical of the girl that had just been rescued by another monster as she tried to defend the beasts. Zana's ears flicked back as she glanced at the girl and shook her head. "You not wolf, you ok. You only mixed up." She tried to explained. She was all mixed up to, something not coyote and not wolf but somewhere inbetween. They were ok, she'd never had harm come to her from anything other than a wolf and she didn't believe this girl who told her that there were good wolves out there. She hadn't found any yet that was for sure, even the closest one she could claim as a friend had known dark things and dark ways to snuff out the life of another.

She glanced off towards the lands beyond this pack's territory as she shook her head. "Pack different, pack not pos to turn on self, of course all good to you!" She picked up a stick and began to draw in the dirt as she challenged Mati. "I bets if they sees me by myself they not all be nices." She had yet been given a real reason to trust the wolves and until she was given one she'd go about believing that they were just horrible dark smudges on the year who only wanted to breed chaos and insanity. They were doing a pretty good job of it too, seeing the creatures Zana had been running into lately.

She was growing tired and unhappy. Her neck hurt, and she wanted the comfort of her mothers. Mati wanted them to gather her up and hold her close. The pup was growing angry from the fatigue and her face wore a sullen look and her tone grew darker. I am too a wolf. She was standing now, with strength that she didn’t know she still had. Was she saying that Mati was something else? Her mothers were wolves, and thus she was. Mati was no part of her father, he had given her nothing.

Mati took a step closer, shadowing the other creature with her much larger form. They would except you. They love everyone. But as soon as you spoke to them, they would figure out you were no good. Mati had no issue with her looks, it was her words that were upsetting and made her angry. The big wolf stalked off, the pain in her neck growing as she moved. The Manor wasn’t too far of and she just wanted to be home, among the evil loving wolves that she called family.
