The poor rabbit had had no chance. His neck was broken within a matter of seconds and Cercelee preferred it that way. The Rosea did not wish to cause the animal pain, she knew that even stupider animals had thoughts and feelings, but a wolf had to eat and to eat one had to kill. Even more so with a growing family. The pups that had arrived on her doorstep had not left, and Cercelee did not believe they would. The church, which only the two back living rooms had been used previously, was now alive with yips and yaps as they played in the pews, beneath the altar, in the rafters and anywhere else a curious pup might find intriguing. Of course, that was mostly at night, when they came in from the pack lands. Despite Conor’s and Emwe’s disappearance, Cercelee felt that Dahlia was safe enough to let them roam, provided they returned at night. Besides, much to the leader’s displeasure she learned that Haku’s and Firefly’s children had not been kidnapped after all, only relocated by their very own mother. It was a sore point and Cercelee still could not look in Firefly’s direction without a feeling of disgust.

She did not worry about the group of five that now took up her home. Instead she was fascinated at their personalities, so distinct and different. Even if it was hard to communicate thoroughly with them, it was not hard to bond, or feel as if she did so. Maybe the pups did not feel the same, no doubt they still missed their mother, but they minded her well enough, and more so they minded Slay. Cercelee had known the male feared it, and she had tried to avoid it, but far too often pack duties called her away from the home. When she was home she threw herself into the children, teaching them and talking with them, but her time was torn between too many things.

Slay took to it like a champ though, complaining little and never in front of the pups. Cercelee was sure that truly he was beginning to care for them, the white lady knew she did. Even if she was not biologically their mother, so quickly she begun to think of them as her own. Today she would give “Slay-Slay” a break. The rabbit was still fresh when she returned into the little garden and private vineyard behind the church. The meat dropped with a thud from her jaws and two pairs of eyes appeared from behind the well a few yards off. Bounding one after the other, Avarice and Catalyst came forward to claim the meal.

They were an odd pair to be together, the leader and the rebel. “Where are your brothers and sister?” Catalyst gave Cercelee and honest shrug but Avarice said nothing, she probably knew what Roulette was up to but kept it to herself. Avarice was going to be a handful when she got older, Cercelee knew that to be true already. “Okay then, dig in guys.” One rabbit wasn’t really enough for all of them, but Cer and Slay had both been storing up food and there was meat left in the kitchen. The rabbit was just more of a treat for them to tear apart, it being so fresh. Throwing back her head Cercelee let out a call, one the pups were surely growing use to. She summoned them.

schwarzThe call broke through his thoughts like a rock through a glass window. Roulette blinked his aqua eyes a few times before stretching and turning towards the sound. Cercelee’s voice was one he had come to know well over the past few weeks, though he didn’t always “understand” the words. Conveniently pretending they couldn’t understand was a good way to avoid having to listen. Truthfully, he understood English well, perhaps better than the other pups, but he had yet to exercise the ability to speak it around their new guardians. Generally he sat at Avarice’s side and let her speak for him. If she was not around at the time a level gaze was all he contributed to the conversation, blank, with no sign on whether or not he comprehended the words.

schwarzPerhaps it was the separation from his mother that gave him pause to interacting much with the older wolves. It seemed like the other pups were starting to regard them almost as taking her place. Sure, they all missed her, but had they already given up hope that she might come back? It wasn’t necessarily that Roulette didn’t like the white wolf and her mate, it was more the fact that he didn’t fully trust them yet… and he was sure his mother was coming back soon.

schwarzA slow trot brought him back to the church in his own time, not too worried about whether or not the matter was important. Poking his head through the door his eyes fell on two of his sisters and their female guardian. Tail instantly wagging, the male pup joined Avarice’s side and plopped down beside her. Wagging slowed as he regarded the rabbit before them… or more the rabbit Avarice and Catalyst were playing tug-o-war with in attempts to tear it apart to eat.

I slack so hard. Life has been crazy. >_<; [WC: 365]

If Ava, Cat and Pal want to join, they should. <3 Powerplaying Ava and Cat until they join, if they decide to join.

Fluffy black ears perked up as the call met them, and matching tail perked up and wagged happily as Catharsis took off towards Cercelee, following the echo of her voice. After a long and exhausting journey (which, in reality, took about two minutes), the small black pup skidded into her brother's form headfirst. "Roulette, please! Watch where you's going!" she exclaimed, trying to sound older and more mature, head held high and tone very serious. It didn't take long before she lost the "serious face" though, because she saw the rabbit and dove in. Grabbing onto the torn carcass, she ripped at it, tearing off a piece and chewing. Watching the other girls, she pounced on Catalyst, shoving her away from the rabbit, and growled with as much ferocity as she could muster. As the two would-be "leaders" of the little group, they spent a fair amount of time warring over who was more the leader than the other. As of yet, there had been no resolution, so they continued to fight for the spot, their siblings seemingly staying out of it for now.

"Catalyst de Sadira, you hog, you's gotsta share the food!" came her small voice, which was deeper than the average pup, though that was still rather high. Latching her teeth onto her sister's ear and pulling, she tried to wrestle her to the ground. However, Catalyst was substantially stronger than her, as usual, and she was taken down. Looking up at her sister, who was laughing and stepping on her, she feigned the beginning of a submission, causing her sister to laugh all the more at her triumph. Then, when the white-furred girl had turned away, both of her light eyes shining, Catharsis lunged at her, pinning her to the ground, and tugged at the back of her neck with her small jaw. "Hah! Gotcha!" she cried through the fur, now revelling in her own achievement. She had finally figured out a way to win against Catalyst! This was a cause for celebration. Jumping up, she ran back over to the rabbit and tore off another bite, still laughing with glee. "I win, Cat," she mumbled through her mouthful. "I. Win."

To say whether it was an abominable thing or not that Anka simply dropped her offspring off to carelessly pass responsibility over to someone else in the family, well, it was a hard thing to call. Matter of fact, life had not been that bad whatsoever after Anka made the decision of stepping out of her pup's lives. Maybe it would turn out to be a catastrophic, hurtful reminder of this moment in time for Catalyst de Sadira as soon as she got her wits about her while growing up, but in the meantime things have been treated as if life had been simply normal from the get-go, at least from her perspective. In the beginning, Catalyst had felt a lot like how Roulette did: untrusting, hesitant, guarded, and especially needy of that warmth and comfort only blood bonded mother and daughter could feel. She wasn't sure what the purpose was of coming here to the church in the first place, or where her mother disappeared to. So far, none of what happened to bring them here was mentioned, and life seemed to carry forth on a normal pace. Trust wasn't an easy process, but Catalyst was finding herself warming more and more to their guardian, Cercelee. She was nice, had a soft spot for them, and treated them as if she herself bore them as her own blood. Yeah, life seemed to be normal like any other pup would have.

Catalyst and Catharsis were so polar opposite of each other, it was really an interesting sight to see how the sisters interacted with one another. Like God and Devil, Heaven and Hell, Black and White, anything remotely opposite in the universe was them. Catalyst with her other siblings, Palindrome, Avarice, and Roulette seemed to still be budding relationships with each other, but the growing relationship between the black and white sisters was developing early, and with so many elements to it. They had been sparring over a part of the rabbit, in which when Catharsis told her to move it or lose it, Catalyst wore the cutest puppy-like grimace she could make with her muzzle. "Stoppen Sie, das meine ist!" Stop, that is mine! She said in hissing exclamation, as the two sparred over the bigger half, with Catalyst pulling through the first half, and then Catharsis claiming victory the second time.

Sticking her tongue out, she gave a comical Pfft! of her tongue to her darker sister. Catharsis might have won this round, but Catalyst was well knowing at her age that she was the first out of all her siblings to be born, and so if she couldn't have the piece she wanted, well, she'd just claim an entire hearty section of the rabbit itself, because that was the way life was, right? The dominant and first born got first dibs on it all. So, Catalyst pounced over to where Catharsis nudged her out of the way, and from where she was eating, Catalyst happened to tear off a good amount of meat (and some that was connected to Catharsis's half, in which was greedily taken!) Seemed like she had the biggest chunk out of all of them, and wanted to keep it that way. "'S mine, thank you's!" She said, hauling it off and chewing in the process. Seeing Cercelee near by, Catalyst bounded over to her guardian, smiling up with a wagging tail and a mouthful. "'S vury good, Miss Cerceh'lee. Thanh'nk yo'uh." She said in appreciation to her guardian.

She was one of the first one’s that came to the call of the free male from the white adult. She would make sure that her and Roulette would eat a good amount, the rest of them could beg for her to go get more, after all she was only the second strongest, and one day maybe she would be much stronger then her sister. Catalyst thought she was going to grow up and be in charge but she wasn’t and Avarice wasn’t going to let her be either, she would make sure of it. She saw her brother and winked at him as she lowered her body down and gave three sharp tugs then shook her head, as she growled as Catharsis came up; she knew that snapping at her would make her lose her footing for the biggest part of the rabbit. She would make sure that Catharsis would be nicer to Roulette. She would make him her second in command.

Getting a nice size for what was left of the rabbit she walked over to her brother dropping it in front of Roulette, making sure he was able to get a good meal out of what she was able to get away from her stinkin’ sister. She loved him and would protect him from all the rest of them. “Catharsis! Seien Sie nett zu Roulette! Wenn Ihr nicht ich werde beißen Ihr Ohr und nie loslassen!” She snarled warning her that she meant what she said to her. Though they where only so old she was already getting mad at them all the time picking on Roulette.

Standing up she looked to her siblings that where having no issues talking to the female in butchered English. The rage shoot though her body as she looked as them giving them each a look. One that wished that they would shut up. “Catalyst!Stoppen! Sie müssen, um die stoppen Englisch!”

Two more arrived and Cercelee went into the church to fetch some stored meat. One rabbit would not suffice, the four pups acted as if they were famished. Cercelee knew this was not the case, Slay kept them well fed, but growing pups always seemed famished. For a long moment she regarded the children, tumbling over one another and conversing in German which she could not understand. Having them all together, able to speak a secret language seemed to make some of them more resistant to speaking English than the others. Or perhaps it just made it harder for them to learn. Either way, often Cercelee would walk in on their private conversations and not be able to depict more than a word or two. It was only when she got them alone could she really motivate them to speak purely English, which was still broken and awkward coming from their mouths.

Setting the meat, venison, down at her feet she smiled. Their interactions often went like this, Catalyst and Catharsis at odds and Roulette and Avarice a team. Palindrome seemed to be the loner out of the bunch, and he either was taking his sweet time in arriving or planing not to at all. Catalyst approached, and Cercelee smiled and waved her tail to show appreciation for the girl’s efforts in communicating. “You are very welcome Catalyst. You know that.” Perhaps she was too indulgent in the pups, but they didn’t seem any worse for it.

The tone and posture of Avarice was concerning, and Cercelee eyed the sassy girl. Often it was best to let them sort out their own matters, especially when it was an ordeal to get one of them to tell her in English what the issue was. Still, she did her best to diffuse any hostility before it started. “Does anyone know where Palindrome is?” Azure eyes went from one child to the next, to the mangled rabbit that would be gone by the time the boy got here, if at all. He’d have to settle for the venison, which was less then fresh.

schwarzRoulette didn’t even blink an eye at the indignity of being run into and then asked to watch his step. Avarice, as always, was quick to stand up for him. She was probably so used to him letting things go without making a fuss or even standing up for himself that she took it upon herself to do it for him. He was grateful that she didn’t let their siblings be mean to him, but also somewhat self-conscious when attention was put on him.

schwarzHe managed to stay out of the way as he watched his sisters fight over the rabbit. The russet pup always waited until his siblings were done before he started on the food their guardians provided. Well, Catharsis and Catalyst anyway. He could stand his own against Palindrome and Avarice always shared with him. In fact, at that very moment she brought him a piece of the rabbit she had artfully snatched from under their sisters’ noses. Tail wagging, he started on the meat, making sure he left half for her.

schwarzShe, however, seemed less than interested in eating and more concerned about rebuking Catalyst for speaking English. Remembering their conversation from the other day, he nodded his agreement, standing behind Avarice like a shadow. “Mama doesn’t want us to speak English.” He added, quietly, in German. Of course, he didn’t have any proof to offer to his white sister to make this true, but Avarice had said it, so it must be!

schwarzHis eyes lifted to his white guardian, a bigger version of the sister he had just spoken to. He frowned. The pup couldn’t dislike her; she was nice to them all, brought them food and let them sleep in her home. But she was ever persistent in teaching them to speak her language. He thought grown-ups were supposed to be smart! Surely she knew if they did Anka wouldn’t come back to them.
