Once again it was a bright day outside which somehow became even brighter in the small room. Savina rested in her nest of blankets, eyes watchful and bright. Cambria was curled up asleep at her stomach, but Gotham and Amata were awkwardly making their way around the room. A soft loving smile was planted on her lips. They were growing so fast. To her it seemed like it had only been a few days since their birth, yet here they were stumbling around the den. "Molto buono! I miei due piccoli esploratori." Encouragement was what they needed. Trying to move around at that age could be frustrating. Though the light girl and dark boy showed no signs of that.

Her attention turned to her chocolate daughter and she gently licked the pup's head. "E lei il mio piccolo cuddlebug." Cambria yawned wide and her little feet kicked out, though she quickly settled back into her sleep again. Amata had for the past few seconds gotten a good footing and she pounced at her brother. The boy gave a little squeak of surprise. "Amata! Te stesso comportare. Lasciare Gotham è." A little wrestling was of course fine, but until now this had been learning time. The mother wanted her son to feel confident as well as her mother's namesake.

Yay! Oh, Amata's the name of a character in Fallout, my favorite XBOX 360 game! *dork*

Kansas had underestimated how thrilling it would be to watch his children grow. Already they were moving around on unsteady paws, their little bodies plump and clumsy. It seemed like they'd just been born, three helpless bundles he and Savina had needed to pick up themselves in order to move. The fact that the puppies be able to run around and play soon scared him a little.

The pale Sadira dropped the rabbit he'd caught for Savina on the porch and shifted quickly, picking it up again and opening the front door. He almost ran to their makeshift den, excited as always to see his little family again, but he entered the room slowly. "Ciao a tutti." he said softly, falling back onto the blankets near Savina and placing the limp rabbit beside her. He kissed her cheek, then gently lifted Cambria into his lap while watching his other boy and girl play nearby. Amata had a look of shame on her face. Kansas glanced at his mate and grinned. "Is someone in trouble?" he asked.

Haha really? It was just a random Italian word/name I picked xD

The mother was giving her light daughter "the look", but soon all of their attention was distracted by the entrance of the father. Savina's eyes lit up and a large smile blossomed on her face while her tail swayed to and fro. Hearing her mate speak the phrase in Italian made her heart leap. He had picked up on her language so easily and it made her so happy that they could both speak it to their children. The cream Sadira had really come into his own. Always providing for she and their babes. Reading to all of them. She had been right. He was everything she had wanted for her puppies.

The fey returned his kiss with one of her own. The smell coming from the rabbit he had brought her was quick to take her attention though. "Il Mmm, la ringrazia il mio amore." As she began to eat and he lifted their small daughter into his lap the sleepy girl smiled. "Dahdah!" The child buried her face in his fur as her tail wagged. Savina smirked back at Kansas, licking her lips. "She likes to startle her brother." Gotham gave a curt nod in agreement. "I'ss jus pwayin," she said, giving her father an abashed look.

Hehe... was she going to tell him about Iskata in this thread?

Caring for Savina and the puppies was more than a duty of his - in fact, he didn't even really see it that way. It was too automatic, too rewarding. He honestly could care less about most anything else. Even that his mother and siblings had drifted away from him didn't hurt as much anymore as it once had. Savina and their children was the most important things to him, and though he'd never expected to have a family this soon, Kansas was sure wouldn't have traded it for anything else. "You're welcome."

Kansas felt his heart flutter as his daughter burried her face in his chest. "Hey sweetie," he returned, offering a thumb for her to gnaw on. So Amata was going to be the fiesty one. Kansas eyed her with more curiosity than anything else. He reached out with his free hand and rubbed her small head, trying not to smile. "Just be careful..." He didn't think they could hurt one another, but they did need to learn how to be relatively civil (eventually). The Sadira smiled at his son as if to comfort him before turning to Savina. "How's your day been?" he asked his pretty raven.

Sent you a PM :o

Kansas may have been young, or at least younger than her, but he was very mature for his age. Especially mentally. He was so bright and gentle. She could already see traits from both of them that had carried into their children. Already Gotham was showing the signs of his mind progressing faster than the rest of him. He was quiet, but not particularly shy. He only used words when he felt he needed to. Amata was the outgoing and personable one (perhaps even more so than her mother) and Cambria had a shy streak, but she was also the most loving to her parents. Though that wasn't to say that Amata and Gotham weren't, they very much were, they just liked to do more than sit with mom and dad all day.

Their little chocolate girl let out a happy giggle as her father offered up his thumb and she wrapped her tiny mouth around it. They had yet to grow their teeth, so she gently gummed on her daddy's cream finger. Amata's tail wagged furiously as Kansas patted her head. "Oookies dahdee!" she exclaimed. Gotham gave a tiny yawn and waddled over to curl up between his parents. Savina lovingly nudged him with her nose and his tail pattered against the floor. Amata, having lost her playmate, enthusiastically pounced on a nearby stuffed toy instead. The woman than looked brightly back up at her mate. "It's never dull with these little ones," she joked with a smile. "But I wouldn't have it any other way." Her neck craned out to nuzzled against his arm.

The pups surely were all different. It was amazing to him that they could shift into very different personalities at such a young age. He wondered if his parents had seen the differences between he and his brother and sisters. Kansas was eager to see what his children would turn out to be like as adults. He looked down at his daughter, who had closed her eyes as she sleepily chewed his thumb. He wished Iskata could have met them all. He wasn't sure she ever even knew he and Savina were expecting a litter.

Kansas shifted a little to allow Gotham room enough to stretch out between them. Amata continued to play. The girl didn't like to quit, did she? Cambria had let go of his thumb and now rested her head in his lap, rapidly getting closer to falling asleep. "That's for sure." He felt bad that Savina had to stay in here most of the time, but he had a feeling she didn't mind. He was always willing to let her take a break while he watched the pups; perhaps it wasn't so bad. He wrapped a slender arm around Savina's shoulders when she leaned closer, kissing her forehead. "Hey. You know how I taught you to read?"

It was amazing how fast their separate personalities were growing. She had known that it would happen quickly, but not quite this quickly. Not only that, but it was surprising how different each one of them were from the other. Their life experiences had been so few and controlled at this age and yet they were so different. What made Amata so outgoing while Cambria was shy? There had been no events that the dark mother could recall to make one or the other that way. Maybe they had just been born that way, it was something inside of them. Either way watching them always made her so happy and proud.

Not content to even have that much space between her and her love she gently picked up their son and scooted herself so she was leaning against him. Then she placed Gotham in between her front legs, giving him a lick. He gave a happy little whine and soon was curled back up. Her bushy tail padded against the ground as he kissed her and put his arm around her. Sometime soon she knew that she would crave some alone time with Kansas, but for now she was content to spend all their time with their children. "Of course, my white knight," she said smiling up at him lovingly.

Kansas was someone who yearned to be sure he comprehended everything around him. He liked to have answers right in front of him - he hated to have to wait for them. But Gotham, Amata, and Cambria were different. He didn't want some book to tell him how their children would be. He didn't want an explanation for their behavior; he loved simply watching it himself and either trying to make sense of it or laughing because he never would. The puppies were teaching him a lot about what it took to be happy.

He shifted a little so that she could pick up Gotham easily. Looking over Savina, he saw that Amata had been furiously wrestling with her stuffed toy. Now she picked it up and dragged it toward them, settling on her tummy at their feet with the toy as a pillow. The girl's beautiful bicolor eyes were half-concealed. Surprising though it was, she would probably sleep too. Why did they all sleep so much? Perhaps it helped them grow, sort of like eating. He gazed down at Savina and grinned to himself. "Well... I've been... teaching others too. Like Mati, and Moose. It was a lot of fun; they were... good students, I guess."

Savina watched with a smile as Amata drug her toy over to the rest of the family and plopped down. It seemed that their cream daughter only had two settings: on and off. One moment she was boundless energy and the next she settled down for a nap. There was no gradual decrease of activity, simply one to the other. Laying there with her mate and their pups drifting to sleep all around them was one of the best things she could imagine. A contented sigh escaped the raven mother as her eyes blinked slowly. How had her world become so perfect? However it had, she was thankful for it.

Hearing that he had been teaching others in their pack filled her with a sort of pride. She knew that her love wasn't exactly a social butterfly, so him branching out was good. "Oh yes? That's great! You're a very good teacher." It was true. He was patient and understanding and willing to go at whatever pace that was needed. Then an idea popped into her head. "Oh, Kansas! Would you want the co-rank of teacher? You'd be wonderful at that, it's clear." It would be amusing if he decided that he did want it. Then they would both have the same specialty, even though his would be to teach reading and writing and she Italian.

Gotham gave a muffled little bark and when she looked down she saw his lips and paws twitching. "He's dreaming," she whispered softly. "I still can't believe we made such beautiful creatures."

Lol, on an off switch! AMATAS A ROBOT OHNOES!!!1!1

He thought she might be "proud" of him for attempting to socialize more. He was beginning to find it humorous that whenever he was needed (a rarity in itself), all anyone had to do was check this room or the one they had upstairs. It was a good thing for Savina; he felt better knowing she could find him easily should she ever need him. But teaching members of their pack to read had been a good experience for the Sadira boy. He now knew more about how much one individual could differ from another. How to act around different wolves. Perhaps it would flood into his interactions with those he really cared about.

He could not stop himself from smiling ever so widely when his lover complimented him. She had almost total control over how he felt - she could smile and he'd be happy. Shed a tear and his whole world would fall apart. As she continued, he lent himself to even more complete serenity. ...That's what I was thinking. It'd be a good way for me to... engage. A small laugh escaped his lips. He felt something moving against him and looked down at Gotham. For an instant Kansas was alarmed, not sure of why his son was moving so erratically while he slept. But he realized even before Savina spoke that the boy was in a different world. I wonder what he's seeing. Kansas couldn't imagine. I can't believe it either. They're so... perfect. One could argue to him that nothing was perfect. But he wouldn't have believed it.

*totally just thought of Amata as a Terminator* XD Someone needs to name a wolf John Conor now, lmao

It was nice to know where she could always find her mate. While she had been stationary for these past moons, usually she was running around the lands doing something. Patrolling and remarking borders, checking in on the other members, dealing with leader and members from other packs. The demands on a leader were many and it took her all over the place. Knowing that at least one of them was in the same place most of the time helped anchor the pair. It would be good for the pups too, when they were older and out exploring on their own. But she wanted him to have a life as well. Knowing that he had things to occupy his time when she was away would make her feel less guilty about being apart from him for most of the day.

Savina giggled lightly back at him. "Yes, it would be. And you'll be sharing something you love with other people! That's very fulfilling." She had experienced that satisfaction when teaching Apollo how to speak Italian. "Well it's settled then, Kansas Lieutenant and Teacher of Crimson Dreams!" She nipped playfully at his jaw and gave him a wide grin. They couldn't get too rowdy with the pups sleeping on and around them, but they could still have a little fun.

"Me too." What thoughts were running through her son's sleeping mind? Was he dreaming of being big and strong, out on some exciting hunt? While that's what she wanted for him, she didn't want to think about him being all grown up. Not for a long while. "The most perfect things I've ever seen." She nuzzled against his chest. Her whole family was perfect.

Hehe, they totally should. Tongue And this post is yucky, I are sorry.

Kansas honestly didn't know how she did it. Savina was always on the go, fulfilling her duties as a leader of their pack. Half the time, he didn't even know what it was she was doing, though he asked as often as he could. Even now that she had puppies, she still managed to accomplish what she needed for Crimson Dreams. Of course, she'd been given a reprieve... but his mate still amazed him. She always would in that respect (among many others).

Whatever she needed to do, he would be content with sticking around with their pups. He couldn't imagine a better way to spend his time. And they were definately a lot of fun. He couldn't wait to take them around the pack's territory, to show them his favorite spots. Even now, he got a great deal of pleasure from reading to them just in their quiet room. Ha, thank you miss. Kansas rumpled the fur on the top of her head, grinning.

In his wildest dreams, Kansas had never seen himself possessing something as perfect as this. A beautiful girl, three perfect children. A steady place to call home. In his adolescence, he'd feared that he'd always be a useless wanderer. But he'd received a much better hand than that.
