occ- Only two others please Big Grin (300+)

From his den up high, Vexx could see the entire Inferni land, spread not too far or wide. It was pretty small, but then again they were a smaller pack. A clan, if you wanted to argue semantics. Semantics weren't something onVexx's mind though. But rather, what was going on down at the beaches. He could see seagulls flocking towards the shores, but he wasn't sure why.

When he looked at the beach from the cliff outside his den, he gasped in shock. It seemed that something was littering the beaches. Although, one of the objects was just too large to be an item. But it actually looked like... an animal of sorts. It had a head, and a tail, but Vexx didn't see any legs. Intrigued, the hybrid decided to check out the scene, heading down at a quickened pace. Last time he was at the beaches, the sands were free of any sort of debris. The junk that was there now must have washed up recently. Vexx did remember there being a series of storms recently, and he figured that's what washed the scarps onto the shores of Inferni.

When he reached the shore, the coyote was overcome by a strong, foul smell. He gagged, but held his ground as he approached the largest thing there. It appeared to be a corpse of something, because he sure as hell didn't know what it was. The tanned canine had never before seen anything like this hunk of flesh, and it disgusted him. The seagulls were picking off skin and meat from the dead body, and Vexx barked at them, scaring them all off. He turned back at the body, his ears flat against his head and his half lidded eyes watering from the stench. "What the hell happened to you?"

Omg I totally forgot I was supposed to reply to this, I suck.

The rains had come and gone, and though they had not altered the landscape in a permanent way, such as when a flood ripped through an area, there were some changes. Spring had saturated the earth with moisture, and now summer had arrived, and with it brought rising temperatures that would only grow hotter as August drew nearer. Then, the heat would break, and finally towards the end of September the brisk cold of winter would blow in again. Kaena enjoyed summer immensely, though she did not mind the cold season so much. Snow annoyed her more than anything—it made everything wet and frozen, and meat did not stay warm very long at all, though it stayed edible longer than in the melting heat of summer.

With the storms had come a peculiar thing—debris on the beach. Kaena had roused that early afternoon to the seabirds' exceptional noise, several hours earlier than her usual waking time. She was somewhat grumpy, having slept fitfully the night before, and she approached the beach in rather angry curiosity, intent on finding what was worth making so large of a ruckus. As she crossed the line of sight into the beach, the hybrid's gaze fell upon several pieces of debris. There were numerous bright plastic things scattered all around the shore where the high tide had left its mark, and in one of the shallowest parts of the inlet Kaena could see a massive form, unfamiliar to her eyes.

Her grumpiness immediately faded and was overtaken by clear interest, and the coyote paced forward at a jogging speed, taking the quick trot of the coyote across the sand. She moved expertly over its surface, dodging the bright things and giving them long looks as she passed, but they could be investigated later. The large thing was most interesting to the ashen hybrid. As she approached, she saw that another had already discovered the thing. Her proximity to the corpse brought the stench of death, and Kaena correctly identified it as a body—though she had no idea what sort. The golden coyote standing nearby was Vexx, whom she'd met previously.

The coyote made a noise, and the birds scattered, frightened off by the canine. Kaena was glad to see some fight in the boy, even if it was toward a bunch of birds—it showed promise. She recalled how frightened he'd seemed the first time she'd come across him, and that had disappointed her in a way—something in her had wanted to tuck an arm around him and show him how to be a real coyote. If he acted that way around the wrong wolf, that same wolf was liable to eat him alive. She paced over to Vexx, her charcoal nose twitching as the stench from the corpse became overpowering. It was bloated and green in spots, parts of it already picked clean. "Nasty," she said to Vexx, a disgusted look displayed clearly across her features. The roan-splashed muzzle wrinkled and her ears were back, too, and she took a few steps back from the thing. It sure wasn't any good to eat to them—maybe to the gulls, but a few bites of that thing would leave any canine with a rotten stomach.
