Oceane had no clue what had possessed her to travel so far from the tribe lands or even to come so close to the clan's grounds. The small girl had once more traveled with her small nestlings of fire and upon reaching the long stretch of bare beach with the white bleached driftwood thrown too and fro on the coast she'd followed the advice of Ethador and had begun to gather twigs, sticks, limbs and larger pieces of the dried out wood. The long limbed ocelot had helped her as well and he'd sat by guarding the basket of embers while Oceane had set off to find some dry beds of grass and weeds to use as started.

It hadn't been long before she'd stumbled upon the nesting grounds of a flock of sea birds that had long since abandoned the nests. Believing that this was just as good as any other firestarter she might find the young lady pulled the bandanna off her neck and laid it out to pile the nests in. Picking up the open ends of the cloth in her teeth she lifted up the slight weight of the nests and went back in search of their resting spot on the beach. The sun was beginning to go down and Oceane knew that Ethador and her needed to start their fire before it got to cold or they would be quite sad indeed. Hurrying over the last rise she spied her spotted pyromaniac friend building up the house for the nests to rest in.

Oceane wagged her tail and quickly joined the ocelot there on the beach where she displayed the few tightly woven nests and begun to paw one carefully into the hollow of the stand that Ethador had created. Tipping over the basket of coals she scooted the hot embers over next to the nest and quickly let the nest settle onto the hot coal, breathing gently on the nest, the smoke beginning to pour and the tiny glow of light from the ember burning brighter. Pushing another nest next to the first she angled in some more coals and watched as Ethador assisted this time in bringing life to the fire. She closed her eyes in a display of contentment at their teamwork while a soft purr rose from the feline. Soon the small flames were licking through the nests and teasing at the wood above and the two companions were lounging beside the flames, waiting for them to grow stronger.

  • The climb over the mountain had been draining and Tynan wanted nothing more than to stop and rest for the night. She wouldn’t, however, because the sun had yet to drop beneath the horizon. The young coyote had been traveling like this for weeks now, in search of something she had yet to identify. Her pace had slowed considerably and the golden locks had long since drooped from a day of traveling in this awful humidity. A sigh escaped her maw as she turned to look back at the mountain she had just navigated. It loomed in the distance now, for she had begun to stake out a place to spend the night. Though the area may not have been superb, it would suit her for tonight. As Tynan's pale green eyes caught the horizon, a smile of glee appeared beneath the mask of rust; the sun had disappeared behind the earth and what was more, smoke was billowing into the darkening sky.

It was the intrigue, perhaps, that pulled her to the beach. Alongside the fire (which had grown considerably now) Tynan could make out two figures. She did not mind that she might be intruding, and made her way towards the couple. Her gait was unsteady and came inelegantly, for the sand felt awkward beneath paws that had just finished scaling rock only a few hours before. When she had come within reasonable hearing distance, a hand swept the golden hair from her face while she called out, "Mind if I join?"

Oceane being young hadn't been paying attention to the sound of the shifting sands as Ethador had. She had been rather surprised when the feline had sprung up and began to pace along the edge of the flames. Turning to scan the darkness she saw nothing but the flickering light of the fire had turned her eyes weak to the night. Frowning she had been about to stand up to explore further when out of the shadows a voice called out. She jumped slightly and glanced towards Ethador who seemed to have calmed down slightly though Oceane herself wasn't for certain if she trusted this stranger. She knew afterall that she was mighty close to the clan's lands.

The young girl swallowed her fear and tried to be brave as she invited the other one to join them. "You can.." she glanced towards the other woman as she asked. "Who are you? I'm Oceane.." She hadn't thought of Ethador until he gave a chirp towards his partner in crime until she smiled weakly and introduced the ocelot as well. "This.. is Ethador too." She hadn't realized yet that the feline didn't have to show himself to anyone or everyone but that didn't matter now, she'd already announced him to this stranger.
