Set in Shiloh Hills, not too far from CD boarders, ^=^ Also, could we backdate it to yesterday (27th)?

The pup had slept in. In fact, she had slept so late that the sun, hidden by the still angry (but not too angry) clouds with dark faces, had nearly reached his zenith in the sky. The pup, having risen, trotted over to far wall. Her steps were still quiet despite the contact her little claws made upon the wood, for had practiced that quiet walking, although she could not yet catch the rabbits. Rising up on her hind legs, the little girl pressed her forepaws against the wall, her head craned back so that she could look up and out of the window. The green and blue eyes squinted up at that spot where the sun’s light burned a place in the clouds, and she squinted up at that spot for a long while. It was as if a great contemplation were commencing behind those young eyes, and yet there was nothing of great consequence to contemplate. Perhaps she thought of where she should go while the day was still awake, but in the silence, nothing was certain.

At length, the young one pushed off of the wall and went flying through the room and down the stairs and through the mansion’s door and then through the still-green fields of summer. Her paws moved with great speed, far greater than what would be expected of her true progress. But her energy was tireless, especially after that long, long nap. Amata smiled brightly as she ran, her tongue lolling happily as she tasted the air, occasionally getting a leaf or a stem or a petal stuck on it. But she just took a deep breath, swallowing or spitting whatever it was out before continuing on her way. And she had been running with such speed that, yet again, she had not even noticed that she had crossed over the boarders of her homeland. But because she did not know that she had crossed into unsafe territory, the girl had very little concern.

The creamy pup slowed her pace as her eyes, round with the need to see everything, pranced around the landscape. And she, too, pranced about, as she imagined a bird or a butterfly might when walking across these same hills. It was when she began to hum a loud and friendly tune that had no apparent rhythm that she saw a pretty bug. Suddenly, she stopped, lowering herself to the ground in a crouch—it wasn’t a perfect movement, but that was why she practiced. The blue and green eyes glittered excitedly as she watched the bug eat something from the flower. But then, as she watched, it did not seem to be a bug at all, but a strange bird! "Wow," she whispered quietly. Then she jumped up, a poor attempt to pounce on the bird that now flew swiftly away (although it had never been her intention to hurt the bird—it wouldn’t have tasted very good, she decided, because it was so small). And so she simply landed on nothing—only, there was something!

She yipped and yelped in pain, rearing back immediately from the place on which she had landed. Amata, having fallen on her back, rolled over and tried to run away from the place that hurt, but it only hurt more in her paw. Smartly, she stopped and sat upon her rump, a small whimper coming from her. The girl lifted her paw and peered under it—an awkward feat for an unshifted pup. She thought that she could see a black line poking her pads, but she didn’t know. And she couldn’t see. Tears of pain welled up in her eyes, but as she tried too look around with that wet, blurry vision, she found no one nearby. Amata gave a little howl that rose weakly to the sky before she tried to get up again, but it still hurt. A smaller yelp broke the silence, and she simply sat back down, a little afraid now.

Absolutely. Big Grin

Despite his wounds, Charon still managed to be upbeat. His headache had finally gone away the other day, and the wound on his shoulder was healing nicely. The big pale wolf was no healer, but neither was he completely stupid when it came to medicine. He was lucky the spear had only grazed him, though he knew if the pretty black wolf with the blue markings had intended to kill him, she could have rather easily. He had been pretty upset for a day or two, but Charon was an optimistic creature, and he was already back to his normal, upbeat self. He would just have to remember to avoid that particular place and that particular smell from now on, since he was sure running into that wolf again would lead to more unpleasantness.

The pearly wolf considered himself rather lucky he had only gotten off with a scratch and a smack to the dome, and he was glad to put that even past him. He was wandering southward now, seemingly gravitating toward what would be the heart of activity in the lands. He hoped he would meet some more familiar faces here. The arctic wolf wandered in his Secui form as usual, panting heavily in the midday humidity. He was glad the sun wasn't out in full blast; these lands were cloudy quite often and it was a heck of a lot better than constant sunshine. He wasn't really built for warmer temperatures.

There weren't as many trees here, and the land rolled gently, reminding him of the enormous snowdrifts back home. Only, these were green hills, and they surely weren't covered in snow. Still, it was a quiet, comforting place, and as the wolf trotted along he watched as several rabbits darted back into their dens, burrowing into the earth in fright at the big wolf. He wasn't hungry, and anyway he wasn't any good at hunting when he was running at a hundred percent, and his shoulder wound slowed him down considerably in his four-legged forms. He was next to useless hunting as an Optime, though, and so he supposed for now the slight hunger in his belly would have to do.

A loud noise brought him to attention, and he headed forward in curiosity, walking at a quicker pace than before, though he surely favored his injured limb. He crested one of the hills and came across a young pup, yelping quietly and seeming to be in some kind of trouble. Immediately the big wolf puffed up, the natural love of children combining with the desperate need to prove himself worthy of something following his sound beating on Dahlian borders. "What seems to be the problem, miss?" he called out in his deep, merry voice. The youngster reminded him of Soare when she'd been younger, and that instinctive love of puppies made him immediately worried for the young creature. Was she lost? Maybe he could escort her home.

Slowly and gradually, panic began to sink in. She was alone and, she realized suddenly, outside of her safe pack, and her paw hurt so that she couldn’t walk. Returning home to ask Mamma or Dadda or the other adults for help didn’t seem like a reasonable possibility. And her little howls wouldn’t reach anyone. She would be stuck here forever! The tears fell from her eyes in big drops as she sat there, falling silent as she held her paw up in the air where it wouldn’t get hurt from the ground. Amata didn’t understand—all she wanted was to play, and the mean line in her paw didn’t want her to. Small whimpers began to sound as the crying grew louder. Why was she so alone? She should have paid attention, but playing was not hurting anyone, and it was fun. But this wasn’t fun anymore, and, unlike the last time, there was no fun stick to carry and she couldn’t go home. And all she wanted to do now was to go home.

Amata was about to set her shoulders and attempt to somehow get home when a loud voice sounded, causing her to gasp and jump in surprise. She turned quickly to look at whoever had spoke, but she stepped on her paw and cried out, falling over in the attempt to relieve the pain. Instead of sitting up, the little pup simply lay on her stomach and looked with doleful eyes to the large and currently scary boy wolf. For several moments, the little girl simple gawked at him, unable to speak. What if this wolf was here to hurt her like that mean, mean Tok-yo Chance? But he didn’t seem as mean, and he had called her ‘miss’, which made her feel very special and princess-y. So, in the end, the creamy pup decided that it would be okay to respond to him. "I’s gotta hurts in my paw," she said quietly, neither bold nor shy. "And the mean line won’t lets me goes home." Her lip stuck out a bit as she prepared to cry once more. The thought of not being able to go home made Amata very, very sad. What if she couldn’t be there with Cambi when the cat-pill became a boy-butterfly?

The creamy pup whimpered, looking down at her paw that was curled safely against her chest. She licked it to make it feel better, although it was still hot and throbbing angrily. She looked up at the adult and his blue eyes. One of her eyes were blue too, so that made it okay to play with him, right? They were similar... But she couldn’t play because of her paw. A soft whimper sounded again as she sniffled, her crying slowing. Her face was all wet now, but she didn’t know and it didn’t matter to the pup at that moment. "Who is yous?" she spoke through her sniffling. Tilting her head, she watched him. Maybe he would speak in that funny deep voice that made her ears tickle.

Though the sky was filled with deep gray clouds which threatened rain, none had yet fallen, and the ground was still relatively dry. Charon was pretty glad for that, and as he sized up the youngster he supposed that feeling was mutual. She was really young, and really small. He was no good at all in guessing ages, but he didn't think she was much older than five months old. Char had no knowledge of Crimson Dreams and how close they actually were, so for all he knew they were miles and miles from the girl's home.

There was a reassuring smile across the wolf's charcoal lips, and he approached slowly, leaning his big head down to look at the youngster closer. His tail was wagging and there wasn't so much as a hint of aggression in the silvery wolf. She answered him, and that smile turned into a frown. "Aww, I'm sorry," he murmured under his lips. He didn't quite know what the child meant by mean line, but that sad face tugged on his heartstrings and those big indigo eyes widened, empathetic to the youth's plight. "Can I see your paw? Maybe I can help you," he said, that warm, rumbly voice as quiet as possible. He was trying really hard not to startle the youth; he remembered being a wide-eyed child and how frightening the unfamiliar world could be sometimes.

"I'm Charon. What's your name?" he said, halting a foot or so in front of her, still peering at her paw, trying to get a better look at it. Was it broken? She would have had some strength to contain her wailing if it was broken, so he assumed it wasn't that bad. Her eyes were two different colors, something Charon had never seen before. He looked at them, and wondered if one was simply slower in changing than the other. Both of them were pretty, one a much brighter blue than his own deep azure eyes. The other was a gleaming, brilliant green, almost lime.

When the male gave his words of sympathy, the little girl simply nodded slowly and sadly, sniffling quietly as she stared at the ground. There was a funny green bug that was tiny and had two eyes that were even tinier, but the bug didn’t make her much happier, although her sniffling seemed to slow down. She offered the little bug a mental, His, before she looked back up at the adult. She wondered where he came from, because he seemed to pop out suddenly—and it was just when she had needed help. And that made Amata wonder if he was like those guardiangels in the stories that came to help and guide the normal living creatures. And so the girl stared at him for a long time with those sad eyes that blinked occasionally, like the eyes of a deer. He didn’t seem like an gaurdiangel. He looked just like everyone else. Maybe he wasn’t even here to help. Maybe he would be like Tok-yo Chance and Air-es Chance and seem nice but then be mean later. That would make the day worse, the young pup decided, and so she was a little apprehensive, although curious.

She gave a little gasp when he asked for her paw, although she wasn’t afraid. Maybe she was filled with awe: it seemed as if this male wolf was here to help her. Slowly, the pup looked down at her paw, lifting it and tilting her head awkwardly to see the paw pads that walked on the earth. And the creamy pup found the mean line that was poking her, although it was deeper in her paw. She had no doubt pushed the thorn in further when she had attempted to run from it, and again when she had stood. But the young girl didn’t know that, and such a thing never occurred to her. She didn’t know that the mean line was simply a thorn. She thought that it was something alive, and it scared her that it was going in further. What if it went so far in that it couldn’t come out? That was very frightening. And so the pup suddenly fell over on her side, frantically holding up her paw so that the male could easily see. "Looks, looks! The mean line iss going ins furthers!" And she greatly hoped that the male wolf would be able to help before the mean line was completely gone and stuck inside her.

"Hi’s Char’n," Amata replied politely as she lay there, her eyes lighting up happily despite the great calamity that had befallen her. "I’s Amata," she said in introduction, her voice taking on a happy whisper. And then the creamy pup was silent as she intently looked up at Char’n, watching him as if she were contemplating some great matter. Blinking away the last tears, feeling better because she was now no longer alone, she took a small breath as if she wanted to say something. Pausing, the little pup considered whether she should. In the end, she simply decided on an opener: "Umm... Char’n? Cans I’s asks yous a question?" But then she waited as if expecting him to do something before she continued.

I have a question! Was Amata by any chance named after the character in Fallout 3? I'd never heard that name before I played that game, and I'm curious, haha. xD

The puppy seemed to grow increasingly distressed as time wore on, and he wondered if maybe she was suffering from some kind of shock. He had heard of that before; when something traumatic happened, the person who it happened to almost blanked out and went totally numb, like they were replaced by someone else entirely. Char frowned and hoped that hadn't happened to Amata. Without warning, the youngster was on her side, completely freaked that the thorn was digging deeper into her paw. It allowed the big pale wolf a closer look, however, and he thought he might be able to get it even without shifting. Even as she was so frightened, the little one hadn't forgotten her manners, and she greeted him and offered an introduction in kind. He smiled at her, wagging that dusty tail before he leaned in closer.

"Sure, just a minute. Now please hold still, miss. This might hurt a little bit, but after it's out you'll feel a lot better," he said, almost cooing to reassure the child. She had awakened all those protective fatherly instincts he remembered upon first seeing Iacho and Soare, and he hoped desperately he might be able to be a father soon. He knew he couldn't chase those kinds of dreams while he was at home; his father held sole breeding rights within their tiny family place until he passed, and that had seemed way too far in the future for the gray male. He thought he'd have better chances if he left and found somewhere new. Maybe this was just the place. If there were little ones like this running around unattended, it must be a great place to raise a family.

He reached forward ever so gently with that big muzzle, carefully making contact with her little paw before he opened his mouth so he didn't accidentally bite anything other than the thorn. He felt it sticking out of her flesh, a hard nub against his lip, and he grasped it with those teeth, tugging backward in one quick motion to free the thing from her paw. He spat the thing out onto the ground in front of them, and it bounced once and lie still. He grinned at her, and nodded toward it. "Better? It's part of a plant. Can't hurt you unless you step on it," he said, burying it beneath the soil with one toe for added effect, proving it was not among the living. "Now, what is it?" he said, sitting down on his haunches in front of her, that tail still wagging at her.

No, I don’t think so, ^=^; Amata was named after Savina’s mom, Amata Marino~ It’s just a Latin name—or an Italian name derived from the Latin verb amare (to love) because the principal parts are amo, amare, amavi, amatus, and ‘amatus’ can be changed to ‘amata’ which is feminine and a past participial meaning “having been loved”, ^=^ Sorry, I’m just a Latin nerd, hahahahahahahahahahahahah

Amata smiled up at Char’n. He seemed friendly and not mean at all, and the little girl was reassured by his happy tail. And then, as the male wolf spoke, it seemed as if he was going to help her! The creamy tail wagged once, hitting the soft ground with a soft thud. The blue and green eyes looked up at his face as he came close to inspect her paw, and she held it up for him, although she did not spread her toes in fear that the mean line might slide in further. With a soft smile, she murmured, "I hopes sos," shutting her eyes in the anticipation of great pain. The light hued pup held her breath. She could feel his warm breathing moving the furs between her toes, but she didn’t giggle as it tickled her foot; the nervous anticipation that gripped her stomach was far too strong to allow something like that to pass. And she lay there stiffly, trying her best to do as she was instructed and not move. Char’n moved gently over her extended limb, but she whimpered slightly as he bumped up against the mean line that was now saying that it didn’t want to leave. But the whimper was simply of fear than of hurt.

And then, she felt a sharp tug that made her eyes snap open. Slowly her head turned up to look at him with wide eyes—what did that mean? Had the mean line gone in. The small girl, because the male wolf’s mouth was no longer near it, pulled her paw back, twisting about on the ground so that she could examine it herself. There was a slow intake of breath—it wasn’t there.... At the sound of his voice, however, the girl looked away and back to the dark blue eyes. It was okay, then? Sitting up, she watched the mean line and the dirt as it covered it up. "Thanks yous, Char’n," she said with a slow smile of relief. "I’s feelin’ much betters." And then, to emphasize that she was not lying, the small girl placed her paw on the ground. She did it slowly as if she herself were expecting some pain. But, apart from the soreness, there was no sharp poke as there had been before. Amata smiled brightly, her tail wagging on the floor. "The mean line was parts of a plants?" Her head cocked slightly, but she chose to believe him. Well, that meant that it hadn’t been alive at all, if it were only a part. She giggled. "I thoughts it was alive," she explained with a bashful shrug. "Thanks yous," she said again, and she licked the bottom of her paw.

As Char’n allowed her to ask a question, the girl silently watched him for a few moments. "Are..." she started, and gave a little blush that could be seen faintly through her light fur. "Ares yous a gaurdiangel?" Gaurdian angel. Char’n had, after all, suddenly appeared like magic when she had needed help, and he had help her. And he was nice and not mean. Even though there were many wolves that she knew that were nice and not mean, the whole particular situation seemed to call for something special. "Yous camed to help me," she explained quickly, "jus’ like in the stories."

Ooooh. Okay. XD Yeah, I fell in love with that game way hard and put about 120 hours in 6 weeks, haha. Are those just conjugations of the word "love" then, in different tenses and genders? :o I actually find Latin really interesting. It's such a great language to know, because it provides a bridge to so many other languages.

He was quite glad to have stumbled on this little one. She hadn't been in any real danger, no, but she'd been pretty scared and it had made the big white wolf so very glad to have helped her. His slightly damaged pride was back to normal, though Char was nothing of a prideful creature. He simply had no idea of his own talents and skills, and viewed himself as being rather mediocre. There was nothing outstanding about him at all, he figured, though he overlooked his massive size and his infectious charisma, the latter being less of an ability or skill and more of a personality trait. He was pretty sheltered, too, he figured now. It had never occurred to him at home that perhaps he was ill-prepared to survive in the real world.

The youngster peered her paw, finding his work satisfactory at first glance. Char beamed at the thanks, and then even wider as she tested out his handiwork, finding her paw whole and unhurt. "You're welcome,' the man replied brightly, his tail finally settling down as he eased into conversation with her. "You have great manners. Your momma taught you well," Char complimented. He nodded at her question, and grinned at the suggestion that it was alive. "Yeah, that part's called a thorn. They're bad to get stuck in your paws," he said gravely. "But when you're bigger and you have bigger teeth you'll be able to pull them out yourself," he reassured her. Plants weren't really alive, they just sort of were. They couldn't move on their own, so they were alive-dead. He had read this in books, that plants were alive, but he still couldn't wrap his wolf mind around the concept totally.

The question she asked surprised him, and it was apparent in his deep blue eyes. He knew what a guardian angel was and he had thought maybe he had one when that bear attacked him, but he didn't really think he could actually be someone's guardian angel? Didn't you have to be, you know, an angel? Maybe. But maybe he was one, and maybe he came back to earth just to help her in real life, too. That had happened in the books, too; God had made his son manifest into a human's body. That was God, though, and if he was just an angel, he probably wouldn't be able to manifest himself in a wolf's body. Lines appeared as his brow furrowed, brilliant blue eyes growing distant and contemplative. He appeared to be thinking about this question thoroughly for a moment before he answered, the gears in his mind turning. "I don't know if I'm your guardian angel," he said solemnly, speaking truthfully. "But I'm sure you have one, and I'm sure if it's not me, then your real guardian angel was the one who guided me here to help you today," he added, satisfied with his reply. How were you supposed to know if you were someone's guardian angel?

Haha, cool~ And they are principal parts, ^=^, and only the 4th has options for gender (masculine, feminine, neuter). But yeah, I totally agree! I love Latin, but I wish that my teacher had taught it well... She was pretty mediocre >n<
500+

Amata’s tail wagged happily when the large male wolf accepted her thanks. And her smile grew brighter as he complimented her politeness. "Thank yous," she replied cheerfully. "My mamma’s teaches me everything!" It was very obvious that she loved her mamma very much. "And she are goods at protectings everyone! Mamma are leader of the pack, and she are takings cares of everyone!" And that made the young girl very proud. She had not quite connected that her mother had risen to such leadership because Naniko had been bad and mean to Cambi, but in the end, her mamma had risen to leadership. That much she did understand. And she was glad that everyone got to have mamma as a leader, because mamma was the best at taking care of her and Cambi and Got’am, and so everyone in the pack should get that care too.

"Dadda teaches me toos! And sometimes he readed me books." She spoke happily and cheerfully, sharing all this information with ease. It had been Char’n, after all, that had helped her. "Ones times, he readed me a story about a human boy that tooked care of a yewling," a yearling, "and I thoughted that it was strange becauze wes easts food, not take cares of it." That had always perplexed the little girl from the moment she had heard it.

"A thorn?" So the mean line was called a ‘thorn’. That must be its name. The blue and green eyes turned to look at the place of the thorn’s burial. Her face scrunched up in distaste, although she smiled through that expression. "Yeahs," she agreed as she turned back to Char’n. "They’s not goods to gets stucked in yous paws!" Not at all, for it had hurt the girl’s feelings greatly. Her paw was still a little sore, she decided, but it was much better now that Char’n had saved her. "Bigger?" Her words were spoken with a hint of dismay and with a little whine. Everything seemed to involve her growing or getting bigger. The girl’s lip stuck out in a little pout. She wished that she could grow now. Then she could catch butterflies and go hunting and shift and, apparently, take thorns out of her paws. But time seemed to move so slowly! "Oh wells," she sighed in resignation, offering a little matter-of-fact shrug. "At least I’s has yous to helps me for nows." And she smiled gaily up at him.

Amata waited patiently for his answer, but he sure did take a long time to answer. Maybe, Amata thought, he was a guardiangel, and maybe he wasn’t supposed to let anyone know because if he did he would not be able to be a guardiangel anymore. Her eyes grew a little wider at this thought, but she was quiet, not wanting to push the matter further. What if he couldn’t be a guardiangel anymore because of her? That would have been terrible. And so, when Char’n finally gave his reply, the girl nodded solemnly as if she shared in his great secret—but she wouldn’t tell anyone! "I’s glads that yous came then," the little puppy replied, "and saved my life!" And she truly believed that he had saved her life. And she believed that he was a guardiangel in disguise. A secretive smile curled the corners of her little lips. Rising, she ran up to him, leaning on his leg as she jumped up and placed her forepaws against him. "Cans yous takes me homes too, Char’n?" She liked spending time with Char’n, and she liked it a lot. And, she decided, it would be safer if she lead him home. Maybe she could share the bugs with him along the way.

Ahh, it's gotta be really hard language to speak really well. They say the best way to learn a new language is to just immerse yourself in the speakers' world and get used to thinking in that language, but that'd be awful hard to do with Latin, hah. XD Amata's so cute. Big Grin

The big wolf listened eagerly as Amata spoke of her mother. It made him happy to know the youngster had a happy life waiting for her back at home. He didn't think he could bear to know she was just a wandering orphan, and though he could hardly take care of himself, he would have had to try take her under his wing. It was a relief to know he didn't have to, and he grinned a big smile. "Whoa, so your momma takes care of you and leads a whole pack? That's impressive," he said, rather reserved for once as he spoke genuinely. It was hard work taking care of a family, he knew. And a pack was like a really big and unrelated family, so it must be triple or even quadruple the work. The child continued, and it made more sense. With a strong mate by her side, Amata's mom had some support staff. "You'll be really smart and strong someday, then," he said with that same grin plastered across his muzzle.

At the mention of books and reading, Charon perked up. "I love books and stories," the man said, excited undertones in his voice now. Maybe Amata knew of a library with lots and lots of books. He'd looked for one to no avail in the city. He listened to her story, though, frowning as he tried to figure out what she meant. Like livestock? "Maybe it was his pet," the gray wolf ventured. He had never had a pet, but his younger sister had rescued a bird once, and kept it for a few months before letting it go. It had been kind of nice, but Charon shared the sentiment; why keep food around when it was just so edible?

He nodded. Thorns and burrs were the worst, but he supposed even plants had a right to protection. And since they couldn't move, they had to have stationary devices to keep them safe. He remembered the impatience of childhood and waiting to grow up, but now that he was much bigger he almost wished he could reverse time and re-experience the blissful youth of childhood again. In due time, he supposed; he could have a second childhood when he became a father and had free license to play and act like a puppy with his own kids all the time. "Me too," he said, laughing. He hadn't really saved her life, but he'd helped her. And he wouldn't correct her, either; it was nice to think that someone would hold him in high regard.

The big silver wolf stood up at her question, nodding his head enthusiastically. Maybe he would get to meet her mother and father? He wondered if they were both the alphas of the pack, and he wondered how far it was. No matter anyway—he wasn't about to leave Amata out here on her lonesome. "Most definitely, Miss Amata," the cloud-colored wolf said with a smile. "Where do you live? Can you walk on your paw?" he asked, not wishing to discomfort the girl if it was still too sore. It was an easy thing to shift to his Optime form and carry her in his arms, saving her the discomfort of being scruffed and carried the traditional way.

Haha, yeah. Latin doesn’t usually have an oral portion of the class because it is a dead language. But some of us just have fun and speak it anyway, ^=^;; We usually just translate poetry from Vergil, Ovid, Horace, and Catullus, and (while my class didn’t focus on prose) there’s also Juvenal, Cicero, and so on.. ^=^;; (Ovid is my favorite! That’s where one of my Cwmfen titles came from, only I had to ellipse the ‘est’ in ‘militiae species amor est’ [love is a kind of warfare]—it’s from Ovid’s Ars Amatoria.) But yeah, it’s really fun, haha.
Thanks! OuO

"Yeahs," she confirmed with a happy exclamation. "She leadeds thems, and then Anu helps Mamma to leads thems toos." She paused, her head cocking to one side as his words finally sunk in. "What’s ‘in-prasses’ means?" That was an unfamiliar word—or maybe she had heard it before but had never bothered to question its meaning. After all, it was not polite to interrupt adults when they were speaking. And she hoped that this was not interrupting either, because she didn’t want to be impolite to Char’n, especially after he had helped her.

"I likes books and storwies toos!" How exciting that they had such a thing in common! Her tail wagged happily behind her, causing her rump to follow suit. "But I’s cants reads yet..." It was yet another thing that came with age, she supposed. Sometimes she thought that she could make out what the smashed ants on the page were saying to her, but they were still illegible to the young girl. "A pet?" That was strange. "Would the human boy eats it laters?" Dadda had not finished the book—or maybe he had, but she had fallen asleep. So the little girl could only imagine what was done with the yewling.

The little puppy yipped happily, her tongue lolling out as she beamed at him. And he had called her ‘Miss Amata,’ which, once more, made her feel very special, like a princess. But it was a much better feeling than when she had been the Princess Fish while swimming with Anu. She didn’t know why it was any different, as the title was hypothetical, but she let herself feel as if it were. Pushing from the male wolf’s leg, she dropped back to the earth, turning about and being extra careful so as to not step on another unsuspecting thorn. But there was nothing. A little sad face crossed over her features, for the place where the mean-line thorn had been was hurting with each step; but as she stood there, the hurting subsided and so she forgot.

Looking up at him, the creamy pup replied, "I’s lives in Crimson Dreams!" and turned, pointing her nose in the general direction from which she had come. "Iss ovah theres, somewheres...." She cocked her head as she stared off into space as if she could see the manor from where she stood. It was truly amazing that the pup had never gotten lost before, for she was never watching the way she had come. And still, she somehow found her way back home every time. But today, she had someone to help her, and he, most likely, knew how to use his nose properly. "I’s shows yous the way!" She turned to look back at him. Her help, of course, would be minimal.

The light-hued pup had already began walking slowly, stepping carefully with her hurt paw, when his final question sounded. She paused, looking up at him, considering his words with apparent gravity. "I’s cans," she replied finally, her voice trailing off as if there would be an ensuing ‘but’. A pause followed before she continued. "But iss still hurtings." And the little girl didn’t know if she would be able to walk all the way back on that thorn-wounded foot. The blue and green eyes stared down at her paw—it didn’t seem so bad now. "But I’s cans walks," she finished finally with a faint smile, not wanting to bother the male wolf. What if the guardiangel didn’t want to play anymore and flew away? Thats not bes very goods. But, as she took several more steps, she decided that the pain, however small it may have been, was too much for her to handle. And she was not tolerant to pain at all. "Well... maybes yous cans helps me—if you wants to, Char’n," she added as an afterthought. And when pups needed help walking, the parents carried them. And although Char’n was not her parent, he was an adult and her guardiangel, so maybe he could carry her. She pointed her nose toward the earth and stuck out her neck to allow him to pick her up by the scruff, and she waited very expectantly, but patiently too.

It is such a cool language, though. xD I wish it was still spoken in some remote part of the world. Strange how something that was so very prevalent died out, but then again it was adopted into newer languages and there are still speakers (like you!) out there so it's not all the way buried. XD And I would assume it's okay that I powerplayed him picking her up, but paranoid Sie is paranoid and I wanted to make doubly sure and make this intensely long OOC message even longer. Big Grin

He didn't know who Anu was, but Char assumed it might be another family member of Amata's. Maybe he'd get to meet them all? After all, he was escorting her home. He wondered how many wolves were in the pack that the youngster came from. If there were lots of them, it sure would make him happy. He was already getting excited thinking about meeting new faces and making more friends, though he'd be sure not to leave Amata behind in the excitement if it happened that they let him hang out for a while. "Maybe I could meet your family and your pack," he ventured, beaming even as he spoke. "Impressive," the big wolf gently corrected. "It's a tough word. Kinda like... amazing," he said thoughtfully, supposing that was the best way to put it.

"Aw, don't worry. I'll read to you until you can do it yourself," he said, oblivious to the fact that he probably wouldn't be allowed to visit his newfound friend quite so freely. It simply didn't occur to him that a one-time pass for picking a thorn out of a kid's paw would expire, or perhaps it wouldn't be issued at all. He shrugged at her question, not knowing the answer. "I dunno. If he liked it a whole lot, probably not. But maybe if he was keeping it just till it got big enough to eat?" the man said, though he wasn't absolutely certain how humans viewed their companion animals. The small pale wolf took off, walking a bit and then stopping a ways from him, explaining her origins. Though he'd never heard of Crimson Dreams, the general direction ought to be enough. He took off after her, lumbering in his ungainly manner.

"Alright, let's go!" he exclaimed softly, eager to follow. She stopped, considering his offer for a moment, and then decided against it. As quickly as that decision had come, though, the youngster stopped, looking back up at him and asking so very politely if he would help. Without a word, he began his shift, completing it relatively quickly as he was already a Secui. "You'll be way more comfortable this way," the pale canine said. He stood up on his hind legs, leaning down to scoop her up gently, taking care to avoid her injured paw. He tucked his arm underneath her belly, allowing her small form to rest in the crook of his big arm, supported by his other hand crossing in front of her to rest lightly on her ribs. He hadn't moved yet, and he looked down at her first, the grin not fading. "You okay?" he asked. He wanted to make sure she was alright before he started walking.

Hahah, yeah! I know~ I think that the only place that it is spoken is in the Vatican, with the pope and the others.... But I don’t think that we can just go up and randomly start talking to the pope, hahah... >__> But I’m not certain.... And yeah, that PP is fine with me, ^=^ I PP’ed them continuing on a bit, if that’s okay? And then maybe we could end in a couple of posts? And maybe they should have another thread where she actually invites him into CD to play, and then an adult finds them...? If I can find an adult to play along—if you want to do that, that is >__>

"Im-press-ives," Amata repeated slowly, trying sincerely to correct herself. There was a small pause as she smiled thoughtfully. "Yeahs. Mamma are im-press-ives." She nodded solemly. "I’s not knows if yous cans comes and meets them todays," the girl explained sadly. "Mamma’s nots likes when Unknowns comes insides." Her blue and green eyes grew widened as she finished, her words growing into a harsh whisper as if she were relating some horrible story of some terrible monster that had trespassed. Nothing of the sort had occurred, as far as the girl knew or understood. But she knew what Mamma liked, and she didn’t want to be a bad puppy. "But I’s likes it if you comes again to visits me," she added, almost shyly. She liked Char’n. He was her gaurdiangel, so shouldn’t he come and visit every now and then?

"Yeahs...." It was still weird that a human would keep a pet. Why didn’t he just hunt it? Or why would he want to keep it? Wolves didn’t do that.... And she didn’t think that coyotes did either. "I’s still thinks that its strange!"Her nose scrunched up with her dislike. Amata didn’t think that she could ever understand humans, or at least that concept of keeping the yewling. And it didn’t seem like Char’n understood that concept either.

Amata stood there with her neck extended and her eyes staring at the ground, and she waited, and she waited, but he didn’t pick her up. Carefully, the creamy pup stole a sidelong glance. She saw that he was shifting, and so the girl abandoned her care and turned, looking and watching openly with equally open fascination. The shifting always amazed the little girl, and she wanted to shift too. But, yet again, it was something for which she must wait. Silently, her mouth making a little ‘o’, the pup observed the final steps, recognizing that he had taken a normal optime form. There was a little shard of disappointment; she truly believed that he would have had some wings to go with his guardiangel status, but there were no wings. He was just...normal. But thas okays, she thought. Perhaps it was still part of his disguise. And so she nodded quietly in approval of her thoughts. That must be its!

As he picked her up, she fell limp in his grip, feeling incredibly small. But she couldn’t deny that it was fun; it was like flying up in the sky, like a dragonfly or a butterfly—or a bird, even. The puppy giggled softly and looked up at him with an awkward position, smiling as she ascended. Maybe this was what he felt like when he was flying as a guardiangel. That was a wonderful thought. And then, suddenly, she stopped going up, and he was asking her a question. "Yeahs," she said, although there was a ‘maybe’ hidden in her tone. Her head cocked to one side as she internalized her thoughts for once. She was held all the time by adults, especially by Mamma and Dadda. But, for some reason, being held by this familiar-yet-unfamiliar male wolf was different. Maybes thas because he are my gaurdiangel! And that was the end of that. "Yeahs, I’s goods!" And she smiled and wagged her tail, which bumped against his arm. She felt safe, she decided, and it didn’t feel like she was going to fall down and hurt herself even more.

They continued, and the girl couldn’t help but notice how nice the wind was from her elevated perch, and how nice the wind felt upon her throbbing paw. She smiled happily, swaying her head from side to side and occasionally bumping it on his chest. Then, suddenly, she gave a little jump and her body bounced up and down excitedly. "Char’n! Looks! Looks! A ladybug!" She was staring at a red dot amidst the green grass. It had to be a ladybug! "Maybes she’s my ladybug friend," she thought aloud with cheerfully spoken words. "I met ones once, and we says ‘Good Mornin’’." Amata smiled. That was a good story to share.

i apologize for the wait and I apologize in advance if this is a bad post, 'cause I am in no mood to write happy things. D: <3 sounds good by me to end it in a few, and try for another thread in a bit. i need to request a few more, so i'll throw something about it in there when I post my thread requests.

The big silver wolf nodded solemnly in response to the young wolf. Char now understood perfectly well how pack borders operated, thanks to that big black wolf from the other side of the woods, and he wouldn't be traipsing across anybody's land without an explicit invitation from now on. Of course, when he avowed this to himself, he failed to realize his own ignorance and inability to even recognize the border of that said pack, so it was likely he'd accidentally repeat his mistake. "No problem. Your mom's gotta protect you, and I sure wouldn't want to get you in trouble with her," he laughed, though he was certain if Amata faced punishment for anything it wouldn't be too severe. She was far too nice of a child for that.

The big wolf grinned at the creamy little pup, and nodded enthusiastically. "I'd like that a lot! Even if I can't stay with you today, I promise I'll come visit," the wolf said, his tail wagging even in his new shifted form. Some habits were hard to break. She commented on the notion of keeping a pet, and the wolf nodded again in agreement. It was weird. It was a whole lot less work to just let nature raise prey animals and to just hunt them when they became sick or old. "I think so, too," he said, voicing his opinion. A thought occurred to the wolf, and he cocked his head, wondering if you had to be born into the packs here. His family sure hadn't allowed just anybody to stay forever; only blood relations of the Amrithai tribe would be allowed to stay, like a distant cousin or something. But none of them had ever showed up, and Charon knew no one of his extended family, though certainly they existed somewhere.

The youngster settled in his arm, and Char again was reminded of Iacho and Soare. His younger siblings were long gone—one back up in the frozen land and one beneath the ground—but he still missed them, sort of. He more or less missed how small and helpless they'd once been, and how strong the instinct to protect them was. It was a strange thing for Char, who had just been a year old when his siblings were born. He was still a carefree puppy himself, oblivious to any responsibility or weight in the world—but here were two tiny puppies, warm despite their thin fur. His tail wagged, and he grinned, setting off at an easy pace. He knew he ought to rush her back home; someone was probably missing her. But he was having fun and enjoying her company, so he dawdled here and there. "Ooh," he said, stopping for a minute and pointing out a cluster of pale purple flowers. "They're pretty," he admired, leaning down just a bit so Amata could get a better view of them.

After a moment he continued on, walking until the girl noticed something. He squinted, his brilliant azure eyes narrowing as he peered over the green expanse of of the grass. It wasn't until she pointed the bug out to him that he saw it, and he laughed. He had seen them before, and from his books he knew they were a symbol of luck. Until he'd seen a live one, the big wolf had thought they were just a human creation, a myth just like a centaur or a vampire. Or maybe they were once human creations turned real, just like them? After all, werewolves had once been fictional characters. He pondered this as he slowed down, drawing closer to the bug. He leaned right down over the little red bug with Amata still tucked underneath his arm. "Hello!" he called to her, his tail wagging. "Are you Miss Amata's ladybug friend?" he asked, turning his head to listen for a response from the little bug. After a minute he spoke in as high-pitched and feminine a voice he could manage (which was not very much at all, but it was an honest attempt). "Oh, yes! I remember you, Miss Amata!" He laughed right afterward, figuring even if the Crimson Dreams pup was too old to fall for it, she might still get a laugh out of his silliness.

thanks to jael for the table!

It’s okay! I totally understand! If you are having trouble writing cheerfully right now, it would be okay to end it with my post, if you’d like. ^=^ I wouldn’t mind at all~ Just let me know what you want to do. And, if you wanted to consider it for when you you’re your thread requests, I asked Erin if Savina could be the adult, and she said yes. We can just make sure that she still has time when you are ready to have another thread, ^=^

"Yeahs," she agreed sadly. She was not happy that she had told Char’n that he would not be able to stay today, but she definitely liked that he would come someday. "Yes, yes! Yous has to comes and visits mes!" It was definitely not a question. The little girl would have been very disappointed had the big male wolf not come to see her. It would have been a disappointment, no doubt, that would have been forgotten by a growing mind. But, while Amata was still young, she would hold a grudge against a guardiangel if he did not visit.

As Char’n paused, pointing out a cluster of flowers, Amata beamed brightly. And she was very glad that he had leaned down so that she could see them too. "They ares pretties!" she agreed with an exclamation. The creamy pup liked the purple colour of this particular flower, although she would have liked the purple whatever the shade. If she had been within reach, she would have reached out her little muzzle so that she could pick one. But looking with Char’n would have to do for now, she decided. She could always pick flowers later.

"Hello!" she called down, nodding her head in agreement with the big male wolf’s choice of words. Her tail wagged furiously, the creamy appendage repeatedly beating against the male wolf’s large arm. It was nice of him to say ‘hello’ to the pretty ladybug that was her friend. As he asked the ladybug, Amata responded excitedly, bouncing up and down: "I’s is her friend! I’s is her friend!" "Nows yous can be friend with her toos," she whispered quietly as her little maw turned toward Char’n’s ears. Her eyes, however, were transfixed upon the little bug that was such a beautiful shade of red. As the large male turned his head to listen, Amata did the same, listening very intently. And she gasped, very surprised that the ladybug was responding. But she quickly realized that the voice was far too deep to belong to a girl, and she turned to look at Char’n. She giggled and laughed, giving Char’n a lick on his muzzle. And her puppy mind still registered those words as having come from the little bug. "You’s silly!" she exclaimed happily, but she did enjoy his ladybug-impersonation greatly.

She leaned down very far, careful to not fall off and yet nearly doing just that. "Hellos, ladybug!" She called as she struggled to retain her hold on Char’n. "You’s can comes home with me!" And, as if the ladybug could hear and understand, it took flight, drawing lazy spirals in the air until she eventually landed on the white puppy’s shoulder. It would have been more exciting, the little girl speculated, had the pretty bug landed on her nose, but she had landed on her shoulder, so it was all very excititng. "Looks!" she whispered loudly to Char’n, her blue and green eyes slowly being pulled away from the bright red dot on her shoulder so that she could look up at the big male wolf. "Nows we’s can goes home!"
