Calling on Blue Skies

Jaz, hurray!

The Sun shone. Looking down on the world with a smile of warm raze. It caught the glass of her window, letting the light pour through the panes. It woke her, a god of heat and consistency. Every day, he rose on one side of the horizon and set on the other. It was the lords of clouds and rain that covered him; they were the ones of inconsistency. A simple greeting, quick to rise and descend the stairs Anu wanted to begin the day. Hesitation would not rule her, not when times had become hard. Crimson Dreams was in transition, a change that Anu had not wanted to go through. Exiting the Manor her eyes were drawn to the sky, the golden orb looked to her and gave her courage and confidence. Hesitation would breed insecurity among the pack. She needed to be strong, strong as steal, as solid as a rock and yet as warm as the Sun.

Walking through the clear morning she found that the Sun was higher then expected. It seemed like the day had already begun and if she did not hurry she would miss it entirely. With the Sun came the summer heat, and as she strolled through the simple landscapes she tended Anu found her trail drifting towards the lake. With soft steps the woman moved over the Sun dried grasses, the shadows of the plush canopy dappled soft tones of gray over her face. The lake came into view, its shone gleaming under the smile of the Sun.

A figure stood at the shore, things Anu had never known standing beside him. The height and size meant only one creature. “Jaz.” She called, her soft voice matched with a small wave. Strength would not be needed, not at this moment. It was only warmth she would bring.

OOC: Forward to August 15th so it doesn't conflict with the Ghita thread?? Big Grin

The hot day meant one thing, time for relaxing outside. He was sick and tiered of the seasons changing and soon enough winter would come once again, as it did every year, and make it hard for the boy to get out of the mansion. The lake was beautiful at this time of year. The water was almost clear and fish where more then plenty. Over the course of the last week he had started collecting worms and storing them in the cold basement in a pail of dirt. He had managed to get a fair bit by now and was looking forward to finally trying one of the boats he had brought home from Halifax and fixed up. Holding two wooden stakes, pointed on the end he started hammering them into the ground, approximately the boats length apart. Finally he grabbed the rope of each boat and one at a time placed them in the water and tied them to the posts.

A familiar voice caught him off guard as he finished tieing the larger steal boat. Turning around he smiled to the face he knew would be there, "Anu! Good to see you out and about." He greeted as he closed the distance between them with a hug. He truly was in an amazing mood. "I was just about to go fishing, would you care to join me?" He asked as he started loading the steal boat with supplies. He had brought an extra fishing rod incase his broke, but now it seemed he may just have a fishing partner. "Of course, it's fishing the human way but it really is quite simple, you should learn fast." He encouraged. It was a gorgeous day for fishing and what better then relaxing with a pack mate in the middle of the lake? the last thing he put in the boat was a large, thick, plastic box with a lid. It would be useful to keep the fish in.

fun!

A smile crossed her maw, the storm had indeed kept them all indoors. The garden had been watered daily by the rains, and though the weeds still needed to be plucked Anu had covered the Manor with potted plants while stuck inside. But they would all be out this day, and Anu was happy to spend it with the tall onyx male. He greeted her with warmth, and she was almost lost in the bear hug that he gave her. Anu wondered what made him so happy, the last time they had met they both were all sorts of blue. Eyes gleamed upward, “Sure.” her voice sounding excitedly as her tail began to wag. Looking at the boats she as felt a sense of hesitation, never having been on the water in one. There was confidence in his voice, confidence that flowed to the older woman.

The human way? She didn’t do much the human way, though gardening was not a natural wolf instinct. Into the boat she went, sitting on the small bench. Seated and eyes filled with a childlike excitement watching Jaz, “What can I do?” she asked, unsure where to be placed or what to do with the fishing rod that would be hers.

OOC: Hehe, yay fishin!! Smile

He watched as Anu hurried into the boat and almost laughed as she stared up at him asking what she should do. "Well first off," he chuckled as he climbed into the steel boat, the water moving it from underneath, "We have to get away from shore." Sitting his over-sized self down across from Anu he moved the fishing rods and bucket behind him, leaving the white plastic container and a couple nets between them. Grabbing the paddles from the flooring he placed them on the half moon holders sticking out from each side of the boat and began to row. The feel of resistance that came with ever pull towards his chest felt good. A new form exercise purhaps. The lake however, was not that big when each stroke moved you speeding toward the other side. Maybe he would show Ghita the boat? Take it down to the ocean and take a boat ride.

Bringing his attention back to Anu and the lake he had easily travelled to the center by the time he finished thinking about the Marino girl. Smiling he Picked up a long net, "This is a method of catching fish over time. You put the net into the water, the net being held up by these floating devices, and you come back the next day when fish are caught in it." He lowered the net into the water as he explained, struggling slightly to move the boat forward in order to spread the net across a few meters of the water before continuing to paddle away. Slowly, he stopped rowing and let the boat drift along.

"Alright..so, why don't I show you and explain then you can give it a try?" Before waiting for an answer he picked up a fishing rod, found the hook on the end and started digging for a worm. "You take the worm and stick it onto the hook." After he completed that step he held onto the handle of the rod and pulled a small trigger, "You have to hold this until," as he brought the rod behind him and flung it forward he exclaimed, "you release it as you swing the rod forward. Then you just wait till the red and white floating thing starts moving up and down. Then you use this," turning a the reel on the side, "to bring the fish in." Holding onto his rod tightly he passed he wolfess the spare, "Go ahead and give it a try." He encouraged with a big smile.

She sat in the boat, staying very still. She was an earth bound wolf, connected to the soil and the flowers that she tended to. In the middle of the lake there was no soil to root herself in, no trees to guard her from the Sun’s raze. She swam, but not like the creatures that lived beneath the lake’s surface. There was an excited look on her face even with the insecurities. This would be fun, and something new to learn. Blue eyes watched the male closely, noticing the way that he took to the ship and brought the oars out to settle beside it. With a motion that Anu studied in the male’s arms and chest he made the small boat glide over the water. She smiled, feeling that slight breeze that caught her mane. The motion of the boat rocked her stomach back and forth, but it was only subtle and it was soon gone.

He spoke, and Anu watched and listened. The way he set the net in the water, how the fish would be fooled and swim into the net, how in a day he would return and harvest the catch. Anu listened to it all, having never known that this was a way of hunting. To her hunting was tooth and claw, the chase and the kill. She watched the water as they drifted, a slight hand touching the surface and feeling the cool water against her summer warmed fur. “Okay” The older fey spoke as he questioned her, eyes returning to the large onyx furred male. Watching closely, she frowned slightly as he stuck the worm on the hook. But she focused on the technique that he taught, instead of the life they would sacrifice.

A hand went to the fishing rod, it was light in her paw and she picked the worm from the dirt that held them. Holding her breath she stuck the creature with the curved hook and then turned towards the water. With a single fluid movement she held the button, and threw the line into the water. The weighted hook flew through the air, and then gave a low and loud thud as it hit the water no more then two feet from the boat. Anu laughed, looking at the gold eyed male. His own had flown through the bright sky like a caged bird finding freedom. “I think I need practice.” she spoke with a small embarrassed smile.

The lake was so beautiful at this time of year. The fresh breeze pushing the top of the water and gently rocking it back and forth, back and forth. The high whistling from the different birds that flew overhead, the new chicks of spring finally flying around like masters of the air. The sun warmed his dark coat and the skin hiding underneath. It felt so nice to be out here with company. It was the perfect day. He sat back and watched Anu with his shoulders slumped in a relaxed position. Jazper knew Anu to be a very compassionate woman when it can to nature and silently pressed her on when she finally stuck the wiggling worm on the hook. His anticipation grew and he watched her body move, shoulder rolling backwards in motion with the rod, the flinging motion forward and the sound of the fishing line flying forward.

The sharp sound of fishing like moving against the plastic loops was quickly followed but the plop of it hitting the surface of water. He looked out searching for the bobbing red floating sphere that would mark the place of the bait. Her words brought his attention back to the boat, where the marker bobbed happily just a couple feet from the boat. His arm reached to scratch the top of his head as he chuckled lightly, "I guess it's a good thing we're in the center of the lake." His smile beamed as he reassured the wolfess, "No need to wo.." His word was cut off but the sound of his fishing line being put into motion. Quickly he yanked the rod in hopes of hooking the fish permanently and began to turn the small handle in a circular motion. "I've got one!" He explained in an excited call. He pulled back on the force of the fish as he reeled quickly and forcefully until the fish was visible beside the boat. "Pass me the net." He ordered, excitement still coating his voice.

There was something silent and peace bringing sitting out in the middle of the lake. Even as they spoke, the words filling her ears, there was something that allowed relaxation. Even the embarrassed feeling that came with her was quickly shadowed by the big smile Jaz gave and the tension that she could not help but notice was absent as she leaned back into her seat and wait for what ever might happen next. She wondered if she would know when the fish came for the bait. If a fish took the bait. So close to the boat there was a slim chance that it would be brave enough to swim beneath it. Tow hands held onto the fishing pole, waiting and watching to see if the line would grow tight and pull against her. It wasn’t until Jazper spoke once more that she realized that such a thing would be obvious, and not just a small tug.

It was like she was woken from a lazy trance. His voice excited and piched to follow suit. Anu looked at him, eyes wide, and watched him pull at the rod with a practiced motion. Even with his commands Anu did not move for a moment. The net? She thought, and with a long blink she realized that he asked it from her. Moving quickly blue eyes looked at the scattered articles in the bottom of the boat and found what she figured was the net he was asking for. It looked like something she had caught butterflies in at one time, though heavier and suited for the weight of a fish. Delicate hand gave it to the larger dark male.
“Don’t loose it!” She spoke with the same amount of excitement. Anu looked over the side of the boat, a smile on her face and trying to find the fish beneath the lake’s surface.

He waited, both hands holding the rod securely as the fish pulled on the line. His golden eyes stared at her stiff grey figure and blank sky blue stare. "Now is good." He said slight sarcasm dripping off his tongue teasing the older female with a smile. Maybe he should have taken more time to explain the equipment in the boat. As Anu finally realized that, yes, he had been talking to her he stared down at the fish and almost felt a small guilt for the poor guy but the pack had to eat and fish was a good resource. Holding out a hand for the net he took hold of the hard rubber grip and nodded his thanks to Anu before catching himself staring at her again. Her excitement reminded him of a pup chasing a butterfly. The same large silly grin and twitchy body language. His own tail began to swish back and forth with his own excitement.

Pulling the fish in close to the top of the water he masterfully swept the net under the sea creature and pulled it out of the lake. It was a fair sized catch, grey in color with a fat bottom lip. Saving Anu the visual he turned around quickly, opening the plastic container of water placing the net and creature into the water he quickly removed the hook before letting the fish swim inside the box of water and turning back with a smile to the grey wolfess. "There's one." He sighed as he sat back down, re-baited the hook and tossed it into the water. He settled his heart down and simply took a deep relaxing breath smiling at Anu. "So, what's new in your life?" He asked as his mind wandered to what was new in his own life...Ghita Marino.

she is dull... xD

For some reason the woman could not retrieve the calm that was so natural for her. It was lost in thoughts of catching fish and the fear of loosing this one that was so close. She handed him the net, her tail moving with excitement and interest. Eyes like water looked through their mirror and at the line that disappeared beyond the surface of the lake. She waited, and paid more mind to the fish then the way Jaz so expertly reeled it in. It felt like in an instant the fish was aboard the ship, and then tucked away in the holding bin. Anu leaned back into her seat, still holding the fishing rod who’s line swayed in the lakes calm waters. She wasn’t sure what to think about the capture of the fish. It wasn’t the death of the fish that kept her voice behind her teeth, it was the way Jaz did it so smoothly and with such professionalism that caught her tongue.

The male smiled at her, calm as ever and gave a casual question. Anu had not recovered as quickly as he seemed to. Her line was loose and did not promise a fish any time soon, and Anu forgot about it. Silence came over her and she gathered the mind that was lost in the excitement. It seemed that they always found themselves giving like updates when ever they met. The last time hadn’t been a light hearted one. Both were heart broken and in pain, and now Anu was not sure how to express the new relationship that was blooming between she and the young Dahlian. It was what was new for her. The loss of Naniko was not new to either of them, and would drag their conversation below the bottom on the small boat. So instead Anu spoke unknowingly, “Nothing much, I guess.” Her smile was back and she fought to find something to say, but Colibri was so fresh in her mind and she wasn’t sure if she was ready to share something so fragile.

“You?”

He felt slightly guilty as he looked at Anu half expecting her to react horribly to the situation. She had always been a sensitive person when it came to the world around her. Himself, not so much when it came to the food chain. As a carnivore he probably could be a little more sensitive to the smaller animals but he had been raised a wolf and wolves had no natural enemies these days. He never knew of a time where wolves where the hunted and he had never been able to understand the chirps of birds or the chatter of other wildlife. Purhaps he was just slightly arrogant, or naive to the rest of the animals but this was the reality he was use to. He took care of himself, of his pack, without a second thought if it meant fighting for tier lives or just getting a few fish and deer for food.

He relaxed back into the boat, letting the excitement pass from his body and focused on the serenity of the lake, his fishing rod, and a friend. He smiled waiting for some good story, the story never came. Sometimes things just didn't happen that where exciting. Maybe she had to much excitement with Naniko being pushed out of the pack to have something seem exciting in comparison. With the return of the question he simply grinned like a fool. "I met a girl." He yipped, excitement returning to his body. "We took a walk along the beach yesterday and talked about our pasts and our futures, shes got a lot of spunk though. Not someone I would want to have mad at me." He chuckled remembering the fire in her eyes. "We met a couple weeks ago at the boarders." Her figure filled his mind. Turquoise eyes sparkling as she looked up at him.

She didn’t know of a world where wolves fought anyone other than themselves, and that of course included the yotes. The woman hunted, killed and feasted with the most wicked. But there was something about killing those that had not been meant for their consumption that made her stomach knot and twist, and the ties she shared with the plants and trees in the world that showed her peace loving side. Anu would rather die then see a healthy tree be slaughtered at the blade of an ax. It would kill her soul to see such an ancient being fall, even if the earth itself look its strength by lightning or wind, Anu felt the loss. Fish, she did not care for. He heart sang more to the worms they baited them with.

Anu could not see herself sharing the pain and pressure that Naniko’s expulsion brought to her, it was not that sort of day. Perhaps if it had been raining, dreary, then a gloomy topic might have been appropriate, but the day was full of Sun. So much so that Anu felt its raze bounce off the lake’s surface and warm her face two fold. Blue eyes looked at Jaz, and knew what the smile on his face meant. Anu relaxed at the topic, happy that he had something exciting to share and there would be no focus on her dramatics.
“Really?” Anu asked, slyly and almost as if she wished to tease him.
“What is her name?” Anu asked, again. She hoped to know that female that he spoke of, but it sounded like she was new, or not of the pack.
“Tell me about her.” Anu asked eagerly, her fishing pole still held lightly in her hand as she began to forget about the task that took them to the center of lake.

The sun was so nice on his black fur as the day progressed. I made his whole body warm up to a nice toasty temperature, the same as his heart. In side of him his heart had sprung to a new sense of life, and it would deeply effect him in the days to come, though he didn't quite know his feelings just yet. What he did know was Ghita Marino was some sort of women. “Well its hard to describe her...” and sure enough it was. He had only known her for a short amount of time, enough to know only the basics about her, “She's other worldly. Comes from a traveling group of wolves. Can you imaging, a pack constantly moving and having no land claim?!” The idea truly was shocking to him. He had grown up on the ideal that you had land that was yours, that no one else was allowed to touch without your permission, unless they where bad people.

“She's very pretty. Its hard to talk to her sometimes because her English is so poor but she's so full of energy!” Jazper was really going to make a name for himself at this rate. Garnet, Mahlouk and now Ghita all within a year. He had the tenancy to fall for another at the simple word 'hello'. However, he was always loyal and always gave them a proper home with all the comforts they could every imagine. Yet, they all seemed to get up and leave. “The only problem is she's a Marino.” He sighed. Savina would not be happy if Jazper went around trying to get with her sister. His memory of the girl was so clear, her turquoise eyes standing out in his mind. When had there ever been someone with such stunning eyes?

Her line danced with the lazy roll of the lake’s tide. A small pressure pulling at it, so small that Anu didn’t even notice its tug. The woman was curious to know more about the female that had seemed to steal away Jazper’s heart. She was experienced in the ways of falling in love, and knew all the signs and symptoms. It was his smile, the change in his features and the tone of his voice. They all told her that his heart beat wildly when he thought of her. Anu knew all too well how a woman could so suddenly change ones life, change the rhythm of a once steady heart.

“No territory?” Anu asked. How did they eat? How could they protect their members without borders and boundaries? The questions welling in her mind, for such wandering was for a lone wolf, one that could sneak through lands claimed by others without being noticed. But an entire tribe? It seemed quite unrealistic. She sounded wonderful, now settled among their ranks and within their borders. What he said lastly was what made Anu react, her smile widened and her eyes looked at him with a playful glint.

“A sister? Of Savina?” Anu had always trusted Jaz, knew of his loyalty and kindness. But, he would need to be careful. That was for sure. Anu did not know the history between their Commander and her sister, but she did know that Savina would not allow a broken hearted Marino. Protecting the pack was truly securing the stability of its members, as Anu had begun to realize more and more.
