No matter what had happened, and where she had found herself waking up in a different place night after night…nothing ever felt like a place to call home. She had fought the want time after time to find her sister, and keep looking for her mother and father…where ever they might have wonder off to. Though for the last two years she hadn’t even picked up a stale sent of either of them…she knew they were off somewhere, happy as any couple in love could be, making love sick faces at each other…oh how nice it was to find that one that you loved for the rest of your life…and you just know it.

She had to sallow her pride and come back, to the lands that she was born into, however once she had done that she was in for a shameful surprise…they were gone, charred, just shadows of what use to be. She was ready to turn back, but something…someone called her to push on, and head west, she would find what she was hunting for. So once again the ivory lady followed the voice in her heart and went about the path that her two legs took her upon. She wasn’t sure what she was going to find, but hey it was going to be there…whatever it was.

She stopped sighing as she lowered her bag, as a nice bleed of scents hit her in the face, yup…this is what she was suppose to find. It was different but a warm feeling inside of her told her that this was really was where she was supposed to be. She shifted the hat upon her tan hair, as the brim shadowed over her face. The white she wolf would stand and wait for someone to kick her into the right direction.

Hi!

I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in too deep.
But you, I can't believe you're gone.
You were the first; you'll be the last.

Geneva was very grateful for the break in the rain. The summer had mostly been comprised of stormy weather and the shadows of storm clouds. At one point, she had fancied that she could not recall the color of a clear blue sky. But today the sky was clear, blue, and beautiful. Lime green eyes turned up toward the sky to take in the blessed sight and to ponder the long elusive color.

The sub-leader had risen, like she had most days, creeping quietly from her rom in the ranch. She had searched for any sign of Jefferson, but it seemed that he had risen before her and he was probably well on his way, navigating the borders and executing his duties. She sighed, thinking that she wished she could have more time with him. But she was accepting of their roles in the pack. No matter how the one-eyed Patriarch protested, she knew that the man acted out of love when he slipped away from the peace of the ranch and from her.

The small-boned woman thought it strange that she should patrol the borders. She did not display any obvious threat to intruders. She was short and thin - on the best days she looked delicate, and on the worst days, she looked fragile. Still, no one could love this pack as much as her - except perhaps Jefferson. She rose every day and traced the familiar paths, safe-guarding her pack as much as possible. She did not have any sense of smell to speak of, and so she had to rely heavily on her eyesight. This meant that she would travel the entire length of the territory throughout the day. But she did not mind. It was during this time that she saw a traveler standing at the borders with a hat pulled over her face. Geneva approached openly, eyes bright and with confidence, as she spoke to her, "Hello. Are you looking for something or someone?" she asked mildly.

The ivory lady enjoyed bathing with in the warm rays of the sun, when there was one scent that came from within the pack; it was a rather strong sent. The lady smiled as she gave a nod, taking her hat off of her head and with her other hand she ran it though her tan hair, as she lowered her head down a bit. ”Well you see Miss…I’m in search of my sister.”

Pontiac put the hat down upon her bag as she let the string of her bag fall upon her fingers as she twisted it around, and around, till it was cutting of the circulation within the tip of her finger. She smiled back up to the lady as she untwisted her finger from the string, look down to the ground.”Maybe you have heard of her, or see her. Names’ Naniko..Last time I see her, she looked like a white wolf that was just randomly painted with different shades of down..Like one of them human pets…What where they called…AH! Calico Cat, yeah she looked like one of them but a wolf, well a pup last time I see her.” Pontiac laughed thinking of her sister still having that patchwork colored fur. Her brown tipped ears flicked forward then back as she looked up to the lady again.”Naniko D’Angelo…Gosh I haven’t seen her since we where only a few months old. “

Hi!

I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in too deep.
But you, I can't believe you're gone.
You were the first; you'll be the last.

Geneva's gray ears flicked forward as the white colored stranger spoke. For a moment, she allowed her mind to wander among errant thoughts. It seemed that she knew very many wolves with white pelts. There were three wolves she knew of in Phoenix Valley with pelts that looked like fresh driven snow. Pendzez and Xeris were a mated pair now, and Naniko herself, her friend from Crimson Dreams, was expecting puppies in the next few weeks as well. She wondered if that would mean there would be more snowy-colored wolves running around the valley. Geneva had also recently met a Dahlian wolfess named Mew, whose coat was the purest color Geneva had ever seen.

Her mind returned to the present situation just before the white colored stranger spoke ago. Her eyes suddenly widened as the stranger spoke. Naniko's name sent a jolt through her, but other than the widening of her lime colored gaze, her face did not betray any of her recognition. She was hesitant to reveal anything about the woman. It was her first instinct to protect her friend, even if that meant closing off the rest of the world from her, for now. Although the woman was inherently and extrinsically strong, she was vulnerable right now, so close to delivering her litter.

After a moment's consideration, the sub-leader spoke. "Naniko resides here," she said. There was no need to beat around the bush. "She is under my protection," Geneva added without hesitation. Her words were soft, and not a threat. She was merely letting this stranger know that she had a vested interest in Naniko D'Angelo, and that to see the woman, she would have to gain Geneva's permission. "What is your name, and from where did you come?"

Hello! Smile
So her sister did live here, this was the place that she picked to call home, how odd that she would come upon the lands that her sister was living in upon the first guess. Though it wasn’t a guess when something whispered in your head making you think that you had to join that pack. She shifted her ears hearing how strong the lady’s voice had gone within that instant; it was just so…cold and demanding. She shifted her weight, as she took a step back, her hand still upon her pack, not wanting to leave her traveling pack too far out of her hand, any beggar or loner could take it and claim the items in there as their own. She just was never use to how to ask to see a family member, someone she hadn’t seen in years. …Is…is she okay? Pontiac tripped over her words and her head jolted up looking to the ash colored female with worry and panic stricken in her eyes. ”My name is Pontiac, Pontiac D’Angelo. I just…I just wanted to be with my sister again, after nearly 3 years of being apart. I didn’t come from any one place…I’ve been a vagabond for the last few years. “ Her voice softened to a soft tone as she went on though her sentence. She had never thought of her sister to need someone to look over her, or take care of her. Well maybe when she had that nasty fall as a pup, but that been so long ago.

Here comes Nani!

I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in too deep.
But you, I can't believe you're gone.
You were the first; you'll be the last.

The sub-leader listened intensely as the woman spoke. She introduced herself with an uncommon name. The side of Geneva's mouth quirked up in a half smile. Naniko also had an unorthodox name which she had never heard before she had made the other woman's acquaintance. Perhaps it was a family trait. Despite her initial caution and wariness, Geneva was inclined to believe that Pontiac's story held some merit. She seemed to know Naniko's age, at least. She felt secure in the fact that if Naniko were to appear, that she would be able to defend her friend if need be.

Geneva nodded once, without really speaking. She would let the facts speak for themselves. The gray woman leveled her eyes with Pontiac's blue orbs and let a silent message pass between them. She was asking for this woman's patience and for her to be passive. Geneva was not usually so overly cautious, and her gaze was no unkind, but she let Pontiac know that there were boundaries not to be crossed. If she so much as upset Naniko, Geneva was prepared to chase her from the borders. Where Naniko was concerned, Geneva would use everything in her arsenal to keep her healthy and happy.

She sent a call floating deeper into Phoenix Valley territory, a low melodic sound whichj she stopped abruptly. She called for Naniko, but let her know that the summons was not an order, but an invitation. She let her know that there was something who wanted to see her, but to take her time and only to come if she wished. There was no urgency, and she wanted Naniko to take her time.

ooc: Ohai!!

She was getting more and more uncomfortable with each passing day, but it didn't stop her from trying to get around anyway. If she had been a loner she would have had to hunt for herself, to be able to get enough food to feed her and her growing pups...she was lucky to have a pack to support her. Naniko had originally thought that this litter would grow up in the same place that her last one had, Crimson Dreams, but the leadership there had turned on her. They had given up on her in her time of need. She had needed rehabilitation, care, and time to recover from her addiction. Ehno had been the one to do it in the end, through the pups. If they hadn't had that night together then it would have taken her much longer to overcome her demons.

Naniko was considering how many more days she would look after the sheep. She did want to hunt and get a little food stored up...unless that was what the sheep were for? She would have to ask. She'd never been around something like this, domestic animals, and wanted to know what the rules were. Killing a domestic animal wouldn't be as exciting as killing a wild one, no thrill of the chase...but it would be food, and that was what mattered.

When she heard Geneva's howl she rolled over onto her feet (with some difficulty), rising. The sheep would be alright for a little while...they were grazing and she doubted that they would go far. Even if they did, she had the feeling that Kvaesir might be around later and that he would keep them in check. The howl had not sounded urgent so she padded toward them at a normal walk, not running or putting any strain on her body. Whatever Geneva wanted her for had to be important, or she wouldn't have called her.

For a moment she wondered if Savina or Anu had come to the borders. She didn't know what she would think of that; she definitely didn't want to see either of them, but if they wanted to talk then she would talk to them. She moved just a little bit faster, white paws taking her into the border area. Geneva came into view and then an odd stranger, a wolf she didn't recognize. The last time that she had seen anyone from that side of the family it had been Selene, a pup from Kaelyn and Roman's second litter. Before that it had been her father Roman, when he had come back to see what had gone on since he'd left. Currently there was another D'angelo running around the lands, a cousin of hers...Addison D'angelo. Misery's granddaughter.

She came nearer, offering the silver wolf a sloppy grin when she stopped. "Sorry for being so late! I hurried a bit near the end...but it feels like I'm getting slower and slower" Jade eyes turned to the other wolf, big white head tilting to the side as she considered them. Was this why Geneva had called her here? "Hullo there. Do I know you? You look familliar"

bumpPontiac gave a grateful smile to the grey lady in front of her, she wasn’t sure who she was calling for, but she had only just assumed that was who she was calling for. It had been way to long since she had seen her. So when the white female waddled in, with her rounded stomach, Pontiac’s ears flipped backwards as she curled her face up in a questionable look. ”Naniko?” Her tan tipped tail flicked around her legs as she stepped forward looking down to her stomach. Then back up to her face, Pontiac smiled, her sister was with children.

bump”I..You...I’m your sister…Pontiac. You ran off one day, and I heard rumors that you had, had a nasty fall. I been looking for Mom and Dad for the last few years…but of course I never could stick around long enough to find any of our family. “ She sighed as she looked down to the ground, kicking the dirt around on the ground. She really wondered if her sister had really forgotten about her. ”You honestly don’t recall who I am?" She pushed a smile onto her face trying to hide any signs of being hurt by her sister not able to re-call who she was. Her hand placed her cowboy hat back upon her head, shifting it around so it shadowed her face. As she gave a smile with a sigh. ”No worries! It’s my fault for being gone for so long.”

Short Big Grin

I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in too deep.
But you, I can't believe you're gone.
You were the first; you'll be the last.

Geneva did not feel on edge, necessarily. But she was feeling very protective of her friend. The time of her birthing would come in a very short time, only a handful of weeks. She did not want Naniko to exert herself or to become upset. But at the same time, she did not want to bring a stranger deeper into Phoenix Valley, especially because it would put Naniko at a further risk within her own home. Geneva had been torn, and she could have simply sent Pontiac away. But she gave Naniko more credit than that. Although Geneva wanted to treat her like glass and lock her away, she knew that that was far from the truth. Despite any exhaustion or weakness she might feel now, she knew that Nani had a core of steel.

The Savant stood with her hands hanging loosely at her sides, letting her shoulders drop to mask her tenseness. Naniko seemed fine, although she was visibly worn around the edges. She would make certain to escort her back to wherever she wanted to go before she continued her patrolling. She knew for certain that she would not leave her friend alone. In fact, she would probably take to sleeping on the porch outside of her cabin, just in case. The puppies could come at any time.

She did not spare a word for the conversation. It wasn't her place to. She had no usual information to give Naniko and so she merely looked side long at the woman, letting her know that she had her support if hse needed it. There wasn't much else for the sub-leader to do, except make it clear that she was protecting this wolfess and supporting her in any decision she made.

ooc:

She spent her days mostly in the fields now, watching over the sheep and protecting them from predators. Even a lone fox or small bear were considered threats to her, and she took joy in chasing them off in her large optime form. The woman had the pelt of her mother, but the body size and eyes of her father. She had to admit...the size was useful some days. Other days it just made things awkward.

This wolf was her sister? She examined Pontiac further, brows knitting together. She did remember Pontiac, but the memories were vague. She had only been a few months old when she'd fallen, and then she hadn't seen her around the Bleeding Souls territory at all after that. Where had she been all this time? With Roman and Kaelyn? "I do know you...sister...but the memories are fuzzy. I lost my memories after that fall that you mentioned, and even today I still don't have all of them back. I just barely remember our parents, the big black guy and the white woman. I remember our other dad Physe better...he was here longer. You were looking for them? I thought about it...but I figured that they knew where I was and if they wanted to see me they would come back. You look great! You're so big now--I guess I'm big now, too...but wow! I didn't think you were coming back, Ponti! What are you doing here?" She didn't know if the other wolf had just come here to see if Naniko was here or if she had come here for another reason.

Short post rock Gwen. James, reading about Nani's prego suffering is making me cry. LOL I have a hard enough time trying to get up out of some chairs already!

bumpIt was nice to hear that there was something inside of Naniko that allowed her to remember her. It must have been truly a work of a god like force letting her keep bits and parts of her memory of her past. Pontiac gave a nod as her sister went on, there was a shimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. The tan tipped tail flicked up and Pontiac grabbed it with her hand as she played with the furry tail. She couldn’t help but to laugh at her pudgy sister. Pontiac knew they were going to have to spend a lot of time trying to catch up on the past, and what they each had been doing for the last 3 years. ”You’ve lost your patchwork markings...You use to look like a Calico Cat, with all that brown that was tossed all over you. Well you’ve gotten bigger, and well fatter…But I’m sure that will change as soon as them kiddo’s pop out.” Dropping her tail out of her hands, Pontiac point towards her sister’s stomach as she talked.
bump”Believe it or not…I came looking to live in the same pack as you. It’s high time I grew up and settled down, like how you did with Conri. I’m guess that happily ever after didn’t work out since there isn’t even a slight bit of a smell of him on you. Never the less, I know I need to grow up, no more casing wild horses. No more feeding just me, and wondering how you are, and how mom and dad are. Peat’s sakes…I’m three now, I’m a full fledged adult. “

ooc: I figured I would reply again to give Gwen something to reply to! :3 <33

This news brought entirely new emotions to her. She had thought that she was forgotten, that the others had left her behind in search of a better place, a better life. It would have been different if they would have come back every once in a while to visit her or tell her the news...or if she even knew where they were. Her first litter would know where she was, as she had told Ehno where she was planning on joining and where he could find her. Her family would be welcomed here, even if she was having a disagreement with Crimson Dreams' leadership. They had been born there, after all.

Her sister's description of her was entirely accurate; when she had been younger her pelt had been a myriad of colors. It had lightened over the months, turning slowly into the pristine white coat that she currently had. "You're right! I turned out to look a lot like mom, though, huh! You do too, except for the tan. At least, what I remember of her. I remember digging holes with one of them, either her or dad...and playing hide-and-seek. So much has happened since then...and yes, you're right. Conri's not here any more. He's not welcomed anywhere around here, in fact--I've heard rumors that he's a murderer..that he killed somebody. But that was after he ran off for the second time..so I don't know if it's my fault or not. He wasn't right in the head."

If Pontiac wanted to stay here, then she wanted her to stay. She had been looking for something to fill in that void for the longest time, but it had remained empty all these years. Her new family, her puppies, had filled it in a little bit...but this would help. A blast from the past. Meeting Kaena had been good, too, hearing stories about the old lands and talking about how it used to be. She looked to Geneva. As the leader, the silver wolf would decide. Did they need to ask Pontiac what her skills were? She was a family member! Would that be enough, though?

The gray-colored sub-leader almost felt as if she was eavesdropping on this conversation. The tension eased out of her muscles as the two white women continued to speak. Naniko's recognition made Geneva feel better about calling the woman out here. She did not want her friend to be put under any amount of strain, no matter how miniscule. The woman worried that her friend might need to put her duties as Tenens on hiatus for a while, at least until the pups were born. There were plenty of other pack members to pick up the slack, and Geneva knew that Naniko would be back to performing her duties as soon as she was better capable. She made a mental note to discuss this with Naniko very soon.

Her lime colored eyes traveled from each sister. There were subtle similarities that she could pick up between them, at least in terms of physicality. Geneva was interested in Naniko's parentage and story, but she was not one to pry. She would have liked to melt into the background and let the two get reacquainted without her. It was obvious to her that Pontiac did not harbor an ulterior motive, and that Naniko would be safe for now.

Nani cast jewel-toned eyes in her direction, and she met her gaze evenly. She saw the expectation on her friend's face. Of course, she trusted Naniko, but she had not known Pontiac for any longer than the space of a few minutes, and it was obvious that the two sisters had not been around one another for a great amount of years. Her brows furrowed, and the gray lady switched her gaze to Pontiac. She regarded her thoughtfully before she finally spoke, "You are welcome to stay," she said. "But please know that being part of this pack is not something to be taken lightly. From what I've gathered, you have traveled for a long while. If you would like to rest, then you are welcome to stay as a guest. But if you would like to stay here with a greater degree of permanence, know that this pack functions very much like a large family. We depend on one another, and everyone is expected to contribute to the overall well-being of the pack." Her words and tone were not unkind, but she thought it would only be fair to give Pontiac a look at the bigger picture. The sub-leader shot Naniko a close-mouthed smile and waited for Pontiac's decision.

ooc: sorry so short. I wanted to get this up before I had to go to work

She smiled seeing her sister happy was worth any extra stress that she was going to go though trying to live the pack life, but for her sister and for the family she would do it. The white and brown female looked over to the grey lady, she was a loner for the biggest part of her life, and however whatever it took she was willing to go through it. She gave a nod, pushing the brim of her hat up she wanted to let the lady know that she meant everything that she said about joining a pack.”I’m aware it’s going to be hard for me at first, but whatever it will take I will do.” She pulled a flea off her coat, crushing it in her nail till she heard the pop from cracking the hard shell. ”After all isn’t that what a family dose? Give everything they got to make sure everything is fine and running smooth?”
