Fresh Start and Lonely Heart

Darkness was fast approaching, and with an exhausted sigh, the young four month-old orphaned pup continued on his walk, with all the energy she still had in her tiny little body she jumped over dead tree trunks, climbed over gray rocks and sniffing every print she saw on the earthy surface, prints left behind by other Wolves that were long-gone. How she wanted to meet somebody new, she hadn't seen anybody, heard any howls in so long! She was so hungry, so tired, and a so lonely. She wanted to play with somebody other than herself, cuddle up against a Wolf that was all warm and soft.

She wanted to make friends, and go on amazing adventures! To be honest, Talamar was a scared to be alone one more night. She had only been on her own for a week now, left to fend for herself. She didn't know where her Family was, she had simply gone for a walk about a hundred feet south, when she'd returned, another Pack had taken the place of her own Pack, leaving behind nothing but the still body of her Uncle. Why had her Uncle been lying there anyway? She still couldn't understand it, she couldn't understand many things, but she had known back there that she couldn't go see her Uncle, her instinct told her she had to run.

So for six days that's what she'd done. Sure, she was only four months, but she was capable of running, she was getting bigger. She would probably die if she didn't find a Pack soon, but she didn't even consider that possibility. She was too tired to think straight actually, too tired and too hungry. Cold was also beginning to be an issue. In late September, the weather was chillier. She wasn’t used to this kind of Weather. She continued to walk along until she found a small, icy cold stream. She was thirsty; it was only now that she realized it.

As the liquid soothed her dry throat, she continued to imagine the next time she would meet a Wolf. It was going to be great; she would get to sleep without having to look behind her shoulder at every crack. She would have a meal in her belly; she would maybe have friends so that she wouldn’t be alone. Who knows, she would maybe find her Family somewhere safe, away from the mean Pack that had stolen all their food and territory.

After drinking for a minute or two, Talamar continued on her way, it felt as if she’d walked 1000 miles these past six days, but honestly it had only been five. She was slowly losing speed too, she would probably never find a clearing; never find a new, permanent home. She was about to collapse, she felt her paws ready to give in, giving up sounded good, but that’s when she smelled it. It was a strong smell, Wolves only a good fifty feet away from her frail, shaking body. Her ears perked up as a howl – the first howl in six days – echoed in the distance.

The corners of her furry mouth twitched into somewhat of a smile, and then the Pup howled back, though it wasn’t strong enough for anyone to hear really, no one that wasn’t at least ten feet away. Someone had to save her, but what if no one did? Talamar forced her little legs to walk a little more. She was closer now; the scent was strong, very, very strong! Sure, it wasn’t a scent she recognized, and if she was in her right mind, she would know it wasn’t very smart of her to come here without permission…

But she wasn’t in her right mind, now was she? Close to where the Wolves actually lived, Talamar decided that they would find her when they passed by, she only had to hope it was in the next hour, or else she might not make it. The young wolf collapsed on the ground, shutting her golden eyes to rest a little. If no one was to find her, she would walk closer, maybe find someone herself. That was how she was, independent and could easily adapt to anything life threw at her.

OOC:Can you add "Leader needed" to your title Big Grin

Boring. That was the best way to describe boarder patrol. He didn't really enjoy the activity itself, the pacing around the boarder in a massive circle only to fine what, maybe that a new squirrel passed through? It was not the most exciting work to say the least but it had to be done by someone. If a strange aggressive wolf would pass through every week or so to make his life a little more exciting he really wouldn't mind. As he thought about the one time a wolf had entered the territory with an ill will he mentally flinched. The last time had been exciting yes, but terrifying. If he hadn't been around that day god knows where poor Mati would have ended up, in the beasts stomach no doubt. Perhaps the boring routine life was good enough for now. Though he wouldn't mind if he had someone to talk to.

He hummed a simple melody as he trotted along on four paws, his Secui form being most comfortable for a boarder patrol. Sure, it was all nice and easy to run around on two legs with weapons on hand if their was an attack but if he was going to run around in circles for a few hours he was going to travel the faster way, the natural way, with nothing on him to bring his speed down when he decided to make a sprint for the heck of it. He missed walking around like this sometimes, it was the way he had grown up, close to eh ground where the sounds seemed clearer. A new scent distracted him from his thoughts, someone was in the territory. A growl escaped his lips as he sent a howl into the air calling for Savina or Anu's aid as he started with a sprint in the direction of the smell.

His anger grew inside of him like a small ember bursting into a fire as a low rumble rang inside of him. Wolves knew better then to enter someone's territory. His anger faded quickly as a tiny howl barley reached his ears. He stopped in his tracks at the tiny sound. A pup? Why would a pup be alone. He slowly walked forward, nose pointing low to the ground in a gentle curiosity. A sense of horror filled him as a tiny gray pup appeared before him, obviously struggling to stay conscious. He raised his muzzle into the air instantly letting out a howl for help, not for him, but for their visitor. Worry coated his golden eyes as he began to panic, what could he do? Instinct taking over his emotions he lay down beside the tiny figure and wrapped a tail around her, “Are you okay?” It was a stupid question but he was at a loss for words, the situation reminding him too much of his own arrival, alone, to Jaded Shadows. His heart stung hoping the little pup would talk back, even make a sound so he knew she was alive enough to get the food and water she desperately needed.

For a few minutes – mind you, it felt like hours for the lonely pup – she laid there, her golden yellow eyes barely open. The smell of a wolf coming was evident, but as she tried to look around in the direction of it, everything was too blurry. She decided that doing nothing was going to be the best, if she could gather her strength just for a little while… and so she fell asleep, her furry lips twitching into a smile. Even with her tiny body cold as the icy water she’d consumed earlier, her stomach completely empty of food and her heart lonely and aching for a new beginning with a new Pack, she was happy in her sleep.

It wasn’t a very deep sleep though, and before she knew it, she was startled awake. Now she could smell him very, very clearly. Without even looking up, she knew he was a large wolf, maybe bigger than her Father or Uncle had been. She knew that he was coming closer, that he would soon see her. No! He had already seen her, that was why he was making his way here, wasn’t it? Talamar shut her eyes as tight as she could; trying to emit a little growl. She really wanted to show him she wasn’t scared, that she would fight him to the death. Both were never going to happen.

She was very scared and she could never defeat him, not unless she got years of training by the best and grew a few more feet so that she could match his height. She heard him howling, he was too close. Was he calling for help? Why would he do that though, to defeat her? Was there a slim chance he could take her in as his own? Maybe he didn’t like Pups though; maybe he wouldn’t necessarily take her in… Maybe whoever he was calling would, but what if she didn’t like Pups either? No, they were going to kill her and eat her for dinner later.

All those thoughts washed away when the larger Wolf came closer and then actually decided to lie beside the small, fragile little thing. All of the young wolf’s fears vanished, and although she would normally be more careful, right now she didn’t care that a stranger was so close, that at any point, he could eat her whole. Are you okay? His voice made her tail twitch a little bit, and the smile on her lips returned a little. She cuddled up further inside him, enjoying all the body warmth her Mother would have given her if she hadn’t gone for that walk on her own that day.

Was she alright though? To be honest, Talamar thought that was a funny question, “Cold…eat…sad.” She was still quite young, it was a given she hadn’t developed proper speech yet. It was a little strange how she’d managed to walk five miles south in six days, all on her own too. Maybe she had her Father’s bravery and strength in her, who knows. If the Wolves didn’t eat her, maybe she could find out if she was like her Father or not. If she was, then she would make a very good Wolf in the future, a perfect wolf to join a Pack.

She would make a Pack proud one day. She would make her parents proud of her as well, she promised herself that.

No capable member, no matter how big or small, was excused from securing the borders. And she didn't mind. Anu found that she met many interesting creatures on her time along their imaginary line. Once if had been and Inferni leader, another the young woman that had captured her heart, another a new member that called a bird her companion. It could be exciting, or it could simply be a moment to reflect. A quiet time that allowed her to think over everything, any moment of her life that she wished to remember. Her time had been uneventful, and the woman had taken to two paws to wander idly through the large trees that guarded her home. Blue eyes looked up, watching the turning leaves and the bare branches, an arm wrapped across her chest against the coming cold and a hand dancing over the rough bark.

The day had ended, and she felt it time to retreat back to the warmth of the Manor, and the fire that she hoped someone had started. A voice, distant and weak spoke. Anu paused, no scent coming to her nose and nothing in sight. Perhaps it was only her imagination, but Anu moved through the wood in the direction in which she thought it might have come from. Then, Jazper spoke to her. A call that was desperate and so distinctively the giant midnight male. Anu took to a sprint in a single thought, her light body fast no matter her shape.

The Lt. General arrived to find her friend and long time packmate on the ground beside the small form of a pup. Breath ripped from her by shock Anu spoke his name in question, "Jaz?" The blue eyed woman looked down at the pup, sadness instantly taking over her. Eyes then went to the large wolf, wondering what it was that happened and where this young wolf came from.

OOC:Sorry I was hoping Katie would have replied by now..Sad

His heart ached for the small wolf pup, not because of the siuation alone, but because he understood the feeling. He remembered the sence of loss as he ran from his home, the cold air freezing him slowly one hair at a time, the need to find shelter. Food and shelter where very basic needs for a pup, and yet the two shared a common loss in this sense. He nuzzled the little grey wolf, trying his best to keep his thick coat surronding her, keeping her away from the chill of the wind. “Theres no need to be any of those things anymore sweetie. I'm going to make sure you get everything you need and so will everyone else in this pack.” He spoke softly, trying to reassure the little wolfess.

He had always wanted a pup or two of his own, It was part of his birth right as the eldest and only son of his parents to carry on the family name of Knight. It was even more important for him to have a family he could love and be there for, unlike his own fathers. His golden eyes looked down at the pup, a mixture of pain, guilt, and caring reflecting in his eyes. A pup should be loved and savoured, they where gifts. He silently cursed himself for not finding this poor thing earlier. His nose flew up to the air as a familiar scent surronded him. Anu. Reasurance flooded into the male, here was a female who knew about kids! “I think we should get her to the mansion. I don't think anyone's coming after her...” No parent would let their child wander off this far. The thought was revalting to the warrior. Once more he brought his muzzle down to the pups view, “I'm Jazper Rhiannon-Knight, what's your name sweetheart?” He spoke with an awkward edge, unsure of how to talk to the pup.
