Home at last. It had been so long since Ehno stepped foot onto Crimson Dreams soil. The Italian male quietly slipped out of the lands what seemed like ages ago, determined to spend time in another pack where his children would be born. The time spent with those four little ones in the Valley seemed to go by so quickly, but he knew he could not remain there forever. The Marino journeyed almost non-stop from the eastern pack to get here and the weariness from his travels only now seemed to be catching up with him. He was excited to be on familiar soil once more, but anxious at the same time. He hadn’t spoken with his siblings in so long, part of him was almost afraid to encounter them. But this was home, and the familiar sights and smells comforted him somewhat. Yet he couldn’t help but feel a bit out of place with how strongly the scent of the Valley pack clung to his fur.

The sun had fallen past the horizon shortly before Ehno arrived, darkness covering the land with the caress of a soft blanket. The land drifted into an eerie silence, as if all had hushed to witness his return to the pack of Dreamers. The male hated the silence, hated how it seemed to amplify each of his footsteps to echo far into the night. He simply wanted to slip in, wraith-like, just as he had left. He only wanted to steal up to his room, close his eyes and rest his weary mind and body. Despite how the night seemed determined to trumpet his arrival to the pack, Ehno slipped into the manor unnoticed. As he stepped into his room and dropped his worn travel bag to the floor, he noted that it remained unchanged. Only a thin layer of dust coated the room to reveal that time had continued to pass here without him.

He collapsed onto his bed, muscles tired and nerves abuzz with worry and anticipation. The Marino did his best to dismiss the worrisome thoughts that once again assuaged his mind. He closed his eyes and willed himself to drift into a peaceful sleep. It didn’t come. Instead he tossed about on his mattress, wide awake and no closer to sleep than he had been while he journeyed back home. The silence was deafening and the room was too empty. There was no Naniko in the room, or the four little puppies he had grown to love so much. He could not fall asleep without the gentle sounds of their breathing. He suddenly realized how very alone he was. But he shouldn’t have felt that way, not here in Crimson Dreams. Not here in his home.

Before he knew exactly what he was doing, he had already rolled out of bed and stole out into the hallway. His feet picked a familiar path to tread in the dark, gold eyes glinting in the dimmest lighting. Ehno reached his destination effortlessly, pausing in front of the closed door to the room his sister shared with her family. He raised his hand to knock on the door, but he suddenly froze, and after a moment his hand dropped back to his side. What the hell was he doing?

Ghita's pups had been born and the two of them were alive and well. It had done the Marino woman well to see that sight, to know that finally her sister had been gifted with the lives that had been taken from her those years ago. It had been one less thing to constantly worry over, which was a blessing. Yet at the same time it gave her all the more time to think about her brother and that whole hornet's nest. He still hadn't come back and each day that passed brought with it more more anxiety, more apprehension, and more fear. Would they ever be able to fix things? Would he ever come home? Would things ever be the same? Well, of course things would never be exactly the same, not after something as large as this. But she hoped that at least part of their bond could be salvaged. That it wasn't all lost.

Savina had gone to bed that evening with the rest of her family, their sleeping forms scattered around her, but as much as she needed it sleep would not come to her. She woke with the slightest noise. Her ears flicked back and forth constantly drawn to every creaking floorboard and movement. It had been a long while since she had had a truly peaceful night of sleep or a morning where she felt rested. The cloud of all her worries hung around her like a cloak, and despite how they tortured her she couldn't let them go. If she did, she feared it would be letting go of him and that was something she couldn't do.

So with her mind so strained and her body so lacking in the things it needed, when she thought she heard someone enter the house and come upstairs to a room she thought she must surely be imagining it. Wishful thinking. The Italian fey tried to push herself into sleep, but it still wouldn't take her. Then she heard more movement. Was someone moving down the hall? Had someone stopped in front of her room. She looked at the crack beneath the door, but of course all was dark and so no shadow of feet could be seen. Still, she had to go look. Even if nothing was there, which she was convinced there wasn't anything, she wouldn't even be able to try to sleep until she looked.

Quietly she rose up and moved to the door, delicately opening it, and there he was. Savina blinked, not believing her eyes, but there he stood. Her heart caught in her throat and she felt frozen. The bags under her eyes were evident and if she hadn't been currently hidden behind the door he would be able to see her slightly emaciated figure, the dullness of her coat. For now all she could do was stare though. Her lips tried to move, but no sound came forth. She had been waiting for this moment and now that it was here she felt horribly exposed and under prepared.

Silly boy just wants a hug. 300+

Ehno finally scrounged up enough common sense to reprimand himself for his impulsive actions and stood staring at the door, thinking himself a fool. Just as he managed to pull himself out of his stupor enough to turn and leave, the door opened. It was such a simple, everyday action, but still his heart raced in his chest and he froze in place for an instant, amber eyes locked onto the doorway. Miraculously, as if she had heard his crazy thoughts calling out to her, Savina stood there, staring back at him with as much shock as he was feeling. Silence hung over them with the suddenness of the moment, and it stripped him of his ability to move. He had convinced himself so thoroughly that this little middle-of-the-night venture of his was pointless, that now that he was proved wrong, he couldn’t seem to remember what it was he should do.

After a moment passed and the initial shock began to wear off, those old feelings of loneliness and longing came rushing back to him in a sudden, unforgiving wave. His shocked limbs found the ability to move once again and they took advantage of it without haste. Before he knew it, he had taken two quick steps past the open doorway, arms reaching out to embrace his sister in a hug. “Savina,” he muttered, barely above a whisper but so full of emotion. The pair of siblings had left things off on a sour note before he departed for Phoenix Valley and he hated it. Ehno did not know how heavily those feelings of betrayal still hung in her heart or whether she would pull away from his touch in disgust. But he didn’t care. He needed to feel her there in his arms, to know that she was real. Because only then could he allow himself to hope that they could try to fix things. Only then would he feel like he was truly at home.

     yay hugs! 300+

It felt like all the blood from her body had relocated to her chest and head, her heart pounding it almost painfully inside of her. She felt numb, she couldn't feel her extremities and almost worried that her legs would give out and she'd crumple into a sorry mass on the floor. Eyes continued to look at him, still almost convinced that this wasn't real and she was hallucinating. It reminded her of that day they had been reunited on the beach of Twilight Vale, and yet this was so very different. So many emotions bounced around inside of her and they all combined into one indiscernible thing that she couldn't say what it was she felt. He appeared to be just as lost and confused as she was and neither of them could find the words to say or anything to do. They just stood there, the silence and distance separating them seeming so immense.

Suddenly he moved and bridged that gap that had seemed insurmountable only seconds before. Savina almost moved back from the abruptness of the approach but then she felt his arms encircle her and instantly she dissolved into the embrace. Her arms wrapped around him as well and slender fingers grabbed his fur and clung to it, afraid she might disappear into nothing if she didn't hold onto him. Tears had begun to pour from her eyes as soon as that contact was made. Until this moment she hadn't known how he felt about her anymore. She hadn't known if there was anything left of their relationship to salvage. She hadn't even known if he would ever come back. It was all that uncertainty that had been suffocating her, starving her. "Ehno," she softly choked out, unable to do anything more but cry and cling to him.

Um, so, there's some pp in here. Let me know if you don't like it or if ya want anything changed, k? 300+

Relief seemed to wash over him as soon as she slipped into his arms and wrapped her own round him. The desperate way in which she clung to him made him suddenly aware of just how long he had been gone, and how it had been even longer since the pair of siblings could find comfort in the arms of one another. He hugged her tighter in response, burying his face in her curly mane as he tried to steady the swirl of emotions stirred up within him. As he became aware of her tears, something within his chest seemed to tighten, making it harder to breathe. He had made her cry again. He hoped that these tears were different from the last ones he had caused her to shed. "Sono spiacente... L'ho mancata," he whispered, afraid to speak any louder lest he wake the sleeping family nearby or betray the tears that threatened to form in his own eyes.

He finally managed to bring himself to pull away, though not fully. He was too afraid to put any distance between them after how far they had been separated. The major offered his sister a weak smile, barely discernible in the night's darkness. All he wanted to do was simply sit and enjoy the presence of his sibling, tossing idle chit-chat back and forth. Just like they used to do. Though after their bout of separation, their chatter would be filled with more substantial topics. "Venire con me. Lasciamo non sveglia la sua famiglia." Ehno slowly pulled himself further from their embrace and reached to clasp her hand in his, still reluctant to break their contact. The chocolate-hued male slipped back out into the hallway with Savina in tow, following the familiar path to his own room. He wanted to selfishly steal her away for one night. He wouldn't be able to calmly sit alone within the manor until he knew that everything, and everyone, was fine.

     s'all good with me! :] 300+

She hadn't been able to guess how things would go when they finally saw each other again. Each time she had tried to picture it she couldn't make out any details, it had been like looking through a distorted pane of glass. That had never been the case with him. Even when they had been separated for a year she had been able to picture their reunion perfectly. There would be tears, and embraces, and an overwhelming sense of joy and completeness. This time, nothing had been certain. She hadn't been able to see ahead and it had terrified her. The one relationship she had always known would be solid, the one that would be her rock and her anchor, had been her relationship with her brother. When that had been put into question her world had been turned upside down and nothing had felt right. She had been tossed around in an angry sea of doubts and pain and sorrow. He held her tighter and if it were even possible she did as well, clinging to him like a drowning woman. Savina heard his words, but it was difficult for her to even process them at the moment. "Ehno..." was all she managed to say in response.

As he gentled pulled away her body immediately closed the distance again, irrationally fearing that he was pulling away to leave again. She couldn't let that happen, she just couldn't. Then he spoke softly again and she looked up to his face and now understanding what he was trying to do. Slowly and silently the girl nodded her head and allowed the space to come between them but was glad that he took her hand. Her finger's grasp was tight, letting him know that at the moment, this was all the distance she could possibly handle. Her heart would break all over again if there were more. Obediently and almost wraith-like she followed him down the hall and into his room. Once they were inside she closed the door behind her and instantly threw herself at him, hugging him again. Tears still brimmed in her emerald orbs. "Sono stato così perso senza lei..." she said shakily, the emotion welling in her words.

No sooner had the door to his room been shut when Savina reached out and clung to him again. Ehno returned her embrace, just as reluctant as his sibling to keep any sort of distance between them for very long. Her shaky words stung at him, causing guilt to well up within his chest. Yet another reminder of how foolishly he had behaved. What was worse, no matter how many times he replayed everything over in his head, he could find no alternative way to handle things. "Sono spiacente," he whispered, too choked up with emotion to manage anything else for a moment. "Sono così spiacente che l'ho causata così molto crepacuore." He had never intended to bring such a trying situation to come crashing down around them, but he could do nothing to change the past, and dwelling too heavily on it would not do either of them any good. Of course, having such an outlook on the situation did nothing to ease their pain and distress, either.

"È stato così lungo," he commented, a hint of that guilt in his voice. Well over two months had passed before he returned. He had hardly noticed the time pass him by most days, too wrapped up in raising the four lively little bundles to even realize it. Then there were some nights where he would lie awake and it would suddenly hit him that he was so far from home. It scared him, how uncertain he had been whether everything back home would be alright when he returned. Thoughts of his family here had been the worst when he was away; he longed to see them, to make things right, yet at the same time he was afraid to face them after leaving as he had. He would be lying if he said that uncertainty of his had nothing to do with how long he remained in Phoenix Valley. But he was glad that he finally made the trip back home and that everything seemed like it would work out, however emotional the pair of siblings may be. Already Ehno felt relieved, like a weight had been lifted off him and he could breathe again.

Any and all anger she had felt towards him was gone, disappeared as if it had never existed. The hurt was still there, and stung like salt in fresh wound, but right now she tried to not focus on that. He had come back. He was here now. She could touch him, see him, smell him. Whether it was good or not, her brother made her the person that she was. When they were apart she never felt fully herself. There was a part of her that Ehno carried with him, and whenever he was absent she felt like an unfinished puzzle. In moments like these she felt like a child again: unsure, afraid, and completely unable to rein in any of her emotions. They all poured out for him to see, just like the tears that cascaded down her face. Savina's fingers dug into him as he apologized. There was nothing that could completely erase the damage that had been done, but it was a cool balm that helped to soothe the ache. "L'amo tuttavia." And I always will. No matter how much he hurt her, she knew that that love would never go away. "Desidero solo che le cose non fossero successi questa maniera. Quel non erano questa maniera." She had never wanted what should have only been a happy occasion to become to complicated and convoluted.

When he spoke next she realized with a stab of pain that he smelt nothing like Crimson Dreams anymore, but like a member of Phoenix Valley. It shouldn't have surprised her yet it still did. Though she heard the guilt in his words. She knew that time must have passed much more quickly for him than it had for her. He had had newborns to occupy his time. Here the days had passed in an agonizingly slow manner. The woman heaved a sigh and let the silence envelope them for a few moments, content just to listen to the beating of his heart. Slowly and carefully she collected her minuscule strength and pulled back slightly so that she could look up at him. "Come...come i suoi bambini sono?" Savina hoped that he would recognize that while she did want to know about his pups, that the woman who had born them was a particular subject to be avoided. She wanted to know about the new additions to their family but talking about their mother would only add insult to injury.

He knew his apologies could never fully redeem him from that act of betrayal. His actions could not be undone, and those emotional wounds inflicted upon his sibling could not be healed so easily. Ehno feared that the only way he would be able to fully make things up to his sister would be to shun the D’Angelo woman from his life completely, and that was not something he could do. He had chosen to live with being pulled from two sides, two loyalties calling for his full attention and he would have to live with it. For the moment he had come to accept this decision, and he could only hope that both women would at the very least be content with it. Savina spoke up and it relieved him greatly to hear those simple words from his sibling. He had been so worried that she would never forgive him, but hearing those words out loud alleviated those fears. "Io… sono così contento," he spoke, needing to convey his relief in words. "L'amerò sempre, Savina."

He could only nod at first when Savina voiced her desire for this situation to have occurred differently. The Dreamer male longed for life to be simple, for events to have played out in a completely different manner. At times his thoughts would drift to another reality where his entire family was together, a place where Naniko had never toyed with drugs and accidently gotten Cambria hurt. He felt like so a foolishly hopeful child when he thought of such a scenario. It was so pathetic of him to wish for such a paradise after all that had happened. Still, such a paradise would not be without its faults, as Ehno was still completely oblivious to how far back his sibling’s mistrust of Naniko went. "Desidero che potrei riparare delle cose. Tutto," he said after a moment. Such a foolish thing to say, but it was the truth. If the Marino man could reach through time to change things, he would do so in a heartbeat.

Ehno felt a bit of relief soothe him when Savina asked of his children. He was glad to know she was still interested in them, despite how she felt about their mother. The Italian man was smart enough to avoid any mention of the snowy lady, knowing that it would only turn this situation in a horrible direction. He had the chance now to patch things up with his sibling a bit and he would loathe ruining this moment. Slowly, a smile came to his maw as he thought of the children. It felt so out of place on his features while he still battled with his swirling tempest of emotions. It was so strange for him to be able to smile while feeling so guilty, but he couldn’t help it. Those little puppies always made him feel so joyous. "Fanno meraviglioso." His words were hesitant at first, but he gained confidence as he continued, unable to keep an excited edge from creeping into his voice. "Ci sono tre belle ragazze, ed un bel ragazzo. Caprica, Lucia, Rio, and Harlowe."

Of course she was still upset over everything that had transpired. There was still a part of her that couldn't believe he had actually done what he had done. She had always thought him more responsible than that. Now was not to be a time of chastisement though, she didn't have it in her to even think of doing such a thing. For the past two months she had feared that things had been irrevocably broken. That the two of them had been pushed so far apart that they couldn't be brought together again. She hadn't had the strength or humility to go and try to see him in the other pack and she had a feeling that even if she had she wouldn't have been welcomed. Even if Ehno was there she knew that he would be the only one who would have wanted her presence, and there had been times where Savina hadn't been sure if he would have even wanted her there. So now that he was back, and appeared to have made the choice that she had so dearly hoped that he would she couldn't find it in her to be anything but relieved. The woman felt similar relief when he also said that he still loved her and she squeezed him tighter momentarily. "Lei anche, Ehno."

Savina couldn't fool herself in thinking this was easy for him. He was separated from his children now, and she couldn't imagine how hard that must be. That feeling of selfishness came back to her, but she knew that as hard as this was, things would have been worse if he hadn't made the decision that he had. If he had chose to leave then she knew that her hesitance of ever going to see him would have remained. She would have felt removed and alienated from his life and that would have killed her. She couldn't guess how he would have felt in such a situation, but she at least hoped that he wouldn't have wanted that. Their bond meant more to her than she could even begin to express and to lose it would have left the fey unrecognizable. So when he said he wished he could change things she knew he meant it with all his heart. They were all suffering in some way or another. She couldn't understand why things had happened this way, she didn't want any of them to have to go through this.

It didn't matter that their conception had been something that had caused her immeasurable heartache, she wouldn't hold the pups responsible for what had happened, she couldn't. Even if she would never consider their mother a part of her family didn't mean that she had no interest in the children that belonged to her brother. It would be impossible for her to not care about them. As her brother smiled she found her own lips turning upwards a bit. "Buono, sono contento," she responded sincerely. She was happy for her brother, she was, but she couldn't help but worry that she would not have anything to do with the lives of her nieces and nephew. Ehno would never wish such a thing, but there were other circumstances and she worried that they would be barred from her. "Io...Spero che potrò vederli...un giorno..." she added hesitantly, her gaze dropping from his face.

The adrenaline that had given her strength suddenly wore off and she was overcome with weakness. "Spiacente, devo sedersi..." Shakily she pulled from their embrace to sit on his bed and she rested her forehead on the heels of her hands. The Commander hadn't been taking good care of herself lately and it was beginning to take its toll.

His sibling’s hesitant request saddened him. Suddenly his separation from his children was more real and he missed them greatly. After spending so much time with them around, he knew it would take some adjusting to the quiet of his home in Crimson Dreams. Yet he had his family in this pack to take their place around him, and he knew he wouldn’t be completely alone. Savina’s eyes drifted from him, adding to the potency of her hesitant words. With this entire convoluted situation, he could understand why she would be so uncertain about meeting her nieces and nephew. Ehno certainly wanted his sister to be able to get to know his children. The situation was difficult enough as it was for him without imagining the possibility of the two sides of his family forever being separated. "Certo," he said gently, almost soothingly. "La voglio li incontrare." He smiled then, a little shakily at first.

Finding a way for his onyx-hued sibling to meet his puppies would be quite the task, he could sense it already. Bringing Savina to the Valley pack to meet them was absurdly out of the question; the two women would have no choice but to cross paths, and Naniko would never allow his sister into her home. The same could be said for a reverse situation. While Savina had never outright exiled the D’Angelo woman from the packlands, he knew she would still be quite unwelcome in her old home. Simply put, the only possible remedy for this situation would be for Naniko to remain at home while Ehno temporarily brought the little ones on a trip to Crimson Dreams. But to simply take them from their mother and their home, for even just a short trip… He would have to discuss it with Naniko whenever the time came for him to venture back to Phoenix Valley. It couldn’t be that hard to persuade her, right?

Ehno’s thoughts were quickly removed from trying to solve this predicament when his sibling suddenly pulled herself away to sit on his bed. The first thing he noticed was how shaky she had been, but he simply dismissed it as being from nervousness about the outcome of their little ‘reunion.’ Yet as she sat there and rested her head in her hands, be begun to notice that something was a little different about her. She looked ragged and worn down, so much thinner than she had been when he’d last seen her. The only explanation he could come up with for her appearance was the stress he had placed upon her with his two-month departure. Guilt began to dominate his thoughts again, and without another thought he moved to sit beside her. "Savina, tu..." he began, but when the words failed him he sighed and simply shook his head.

She hadn't meant to add to his guilt with her hesitance, for she knew that he would want her to know his pups. If that were to happen, it would be through no fault of his. No matter what lay between her and the D'Angelo woman, she was willing to put that aside for the sake of the children. They deserved to know the rest of their family. Not only her, but their other aunt and cousins as well. If Naniko kept the pups from knowing all of them it would only prove to show how petty she was. Those kids were as much Marino as they were D'Angelo and they shouldn't be punished simply because there was some bad blood between their mother and aunt. Ehno's words served their purpose in soothing some of her fears though, and she managed a small smile. "Buono. Ciò mi fa sente meglio." Emerald eyes turned back up to her brother's face. "Voglio incontrarli. Per saperli." She wanted to be there for them if they ever needed her. She was their aunt after all.

Savina hadn't meant for Ehno to see her like this. She really hadn't. The Commander didn't want anyone to see her this way. She hadn't really been able to help it though. The way her world had suddenly been all mixed up and the stress that had been piled on top of her had made food seem unappetizing. She couldn't sleep, not well anyway. For the most part she had been keeping to herself and away from others to try and hide her deteriorating state. If she had known Ehno was returning she would have tried to clean herself up a bit. She felt him sit down next to her and she tried to regather her thoughts. With a deep breath she held her head back up and a hand reached for one of his, her gaze on the sheets. "Non era giusto lei, e tutto questo." Yes, that had been a significant chunk of her worries, but it had not been only that.

"La destra dopo che lei ha lasciato Ghita ha scoperto era incinta." Part of her felt a little guilty for sharing their sister's news, but she didn't want him to think that he was the only cause of her depleted state. "Era spaventata che ciò che è successo ai suoi ultimi rifiuti succederebbe di nuovo. Era così I. Sono bei grazie al cielo, erano pochi giorni nati fa. Un ragazzo sani ed una ragazza. Per così lungo nonostante avevo paura...che intendevo perdere entrambi lei..." New tears threatened in her eyes and her free hand moved to wipe them away. If that had happened she really didn't think she could have gone on.

Woo, semester's over! Kinda rushed, though, sorry! wc: 405

There was that twinge of guilt fluttering within him again. This whole ordeal had been unimaginably tough on him, that could not be denied. But he wasn’t the only one being affected by this situation, and Ehno could only feel selfish thinking about his own pain. It was clear to him now just how much this had hurt his sister. He knew her well and because of this he knew it would worry her greatly. Yet seeing her like this now only emphasized the sorrow he knew she had faced. Savina found the words to explain that there was something more that had plagued her in his absence, and Ehno began to fear what that could be.

He held her hand gently, rubbing soothing circles on the back of her hand with his thumb. He listened carefully as she began to explain the situation their family had faced. Amber eyes widened in shock and a potent swirl of emotions stirred up within his chest. He could only imagine how tough it must have been for them. Ghita must have been deathly afraid of loosing that litter as well, and Savina would have been plagued with such worry for his sibling. He could see now why his onyx-hued sibling would have run herself ragged in his months away, with all of this weighing down on her. Ehno felt that guilt envelope him again. He should have been there for them. It was his job to protect his sisters, and he had not been here to do that. It felt like he had failed them. But what was he to do? He had a budding family of his own to protect now. It was impossible for him to be in two places at once, but this was the decision that he chose.

He closed his eyes in frustration, trying to gather his rapidly racing thoughts. "Non posso immaginare come duro questo deve essere stato su lei entrambi…" he began, slowly opening his eyes to look at her once more. "Sono così contento che sono bello, nonostante." It was quite a relief to hear that Ghita did not have to face the loss of another litter. "Somiglia alla nostra famiglia è anche più grande di ho pensato," he said with a slight laugh, making an attempt to lighten the somber atmosphere. Then another thought came to him. Ghita could not have gotten pregnant on her own. "Chi è il padre?"

     It's all good Smile 300+

Savina knew this couldn't possibly be easy for him either. Not being there for your children all the time was a great sacrifice and she understood that. She didn't take her brother's decision for granted, hence why him being here now was such a relief. All she really wanted to do was just to break down and cling to him; to show him how much she loved him and how much this meant to her. It didn't matter how old they got, she would always need him. He was her brother and the bond they shared was like no other. It was different than the bond she shared with her mate, though no less strong. It was the people she loved that made her who she was, and chief among them was Ehno. He always had been, and he always would be.

The soothing rubbing on her hand did much to calm her and she gently squeezed his fingers. He had known nothing of this, and she knew it would be quite the shock. He had left with everything being more or less as it had been and now he was back with a new niece and nephew that he hadn't even known had been conceived. There had been many times she had broken down over the past couple months. Tears came too easily and she had felt herself cracking all over. It would have all been hard enough to deal with on its own, but she was the Commander and she had to hold Crimson Dreams together as well. It was a task that had seemed impossible and insurmountable lately. How could a pack follow someone that could fall apart so easily? So for right or wrong she had kept her problems a secret, only confiding in Anu and Kansas the extent of her fears. Without them she wouldn't have been able to make it through.

Savina nodded in confirmation of his words. It had been one of the toughest ordeals she had ever faced. "Sono anche. Perdere loro...sarebbe stato troppo..." She didn't mean just for Ghita or herself, but for their whole family. The reverberations of such a tragedy in an already trying time would have been too great to consider. A small, weak smile cracked her face at Ehno's attempt to lighten the mood. A laugh was too much for her to muster though. It was just like him to do so though, and she could never begrudge him the effort. Then came one of the other clear complications that he wasn't aware of. "Jazper. Dopo che ho scoperto ho schioccato e ho urlato delle a lui, ma cose sono meglio ora. Sono dei compagni." Despite how irresponsibly the pregnancy had happened, it could have been with a much worse male.

I forgot what I was doing halfway through this post, so it’s a little weird and short. XD;; 311

So much had happened in his absence, he was almost overwhelmed with the news. It was as if their lives all stepped onto some crazy path filled with the most difficult and trying obstacles they could face. Bitterly, Ehno thought about how unfair all of these sudden dilemmas were. He once thought that fate was always on their side, guiding the kind Marino family to a peaceful and happy life. But all of these sudden happenings were too much to take, too painful to continue to face. He supposed that fate hadn’t completely abandoned them; if it had, they surely would not have been so fortunate in the end. They simply had to look past all of the recent hardships to see the good on the other side. The thought gave him hope that perhaps everything would begin to calm down for them now.

Ehno sat back in shock when Savina finally revealed the name of their new niece and nephew. “Jazper?” he repeated the name with a high tone of surprise. He certainly hadn’t expected Savina to name the giant warrior as the father to Ghita’s children, though he couldn’t say that he had any idea of who to expect. He hadn’t been aware that his timber-hued sibling had been seeing anyone within the pack, let alone Jazper. "Ciò è abbastanza una sorpresa…" He shook his head, stating the obvious for lack of anything else to say. Words seemed to escape him now in the wake of all this news. "E sono dei compagni? Neanche ho realizzato che vedevano l'un l'altro." Either Ehno had been too worried about his own predicament to notice what was right in front of him (though he couldn’t really fault himself for that) or there was something more going on here. He sincerely hoped that their recent troubles went no further than they already had.

Similar thoughts were now, and often had over the past couple months, running through her mind. The fates had been kind enough to bring them all together in this land that was so very far from the place where they had been born. Savina had always thought it was fate that had done that for it seemed so far fetched that the three of them could have come here on mere coincidence. But now they were showered with such hardships the likes of which were worse than any they had faced in Italy, and they had had their share of problems there as well. It was unfair for them to be set against one another, unfair for Ehno to have the two sides of his family separated in different packs, unfair for them to each have to miss important events in one another's lives. She had no idea what it was they had done to cause such events to be rained down upon their heads, but she hoped that the storm was over and soon they would see the sun again.

His surprised matched her own when she had found out, however her's had been more growled than high pitched. It had been unfortunate of the dark Knight to waltz upon the two sisters at the moment that he had and he had learned that quickly enough with Savina's sharp words. All she could do was to nod and confirm that indeed the words she had spoken were truth. "Era a me come bene." With Ehno's next statement she knew that her skepticism and judgment would not be the only ones Jazper would have to face. Although it would be a little bit more hypocritical coming from her brother, and that was something she never would have expected. "Non erano. Questi cuccioli erano altrettanto una sorpresa come suo proprio erano." It took a bit of effort to keep the bitterness out of her voice, but she managed it for the most part. The last thing she wanted was to start another argument, but there was really no other way to explain what had happened between their sister and Jazper. Another foolish decision that had ended with consequences the participants hadn't expected.

Savina’s comment stung, though he knew she didn’t intend it to. His gaze shied away to one of the barren corners of the room as some of that familiar shame crept over him. Never would have intended for things to work out like this. He and Nani had certainly not been entirely clear-headed when they had gotten together and neither of them could have foreseen what would happen at the time. They had both been blinded by strong emotions that night, and as a result they walked down a path they would not have been so quick to take had they been able to think things through. Despite all this, Ehno could not say that he regretted his actions. That would be saying he regretted his children, and that was a thought that could never cross the Marino man’s mind. The time he spent with those four pups was already among the most precious in his life. He could never regret that.

While part of him (rather hypocritically) was not pleased with the fact that Ghita and Jazper had gotten into that situation, he felt certain that they must feel the same way that he did. Children were dear things, and while bringing them into the world was not something that should be taken lightly, he knew that no one in his family could ever regret the birth of the young ones, no matter how they came to be. So Ehno pushed away that awful feeling of shame, that he had perhaps let his family down, and instead focused on the fact that he was now blessed with another niece and nephew to love. "Vedo," he said simply, any words of possibly criticism for what had happened now lost to him. "Almeno tutto ha risolto per il migliore, nella fine." He garnished the comment with a slight sigh. Such sudden changes in life seemed inevitable to him now, and to wish otherwise seemed like a foolish and dream-like thing.

Ehno finally returned his gaze to his sister, feeling both exhausted and alert in the wake of all this shocking news. He leaned his head against her shoulder briefly, in an act to feel some small form of comfort. He lifted his head after only a brief moment, amber gaze seeking her familiar emeralds. "Mi dice per favore che quelli sono le sole sorprese che lei deve dividere con me?" he asked, another slight attempt at humor, though by now the humor had drained from even his own voice. He didn’t know if he could handle any more shocking news for the night. If there were any more odd twists of fate for the Marino’s to face, Ehno was certain he would have to seek fate itself out to find out why so much had befallen them within them last few months. All he wanted to do now was to sit there with his sibling and imagine that everything was alright. After all the twists and turns the Marinos were suddenly faced with in life, they deserved a reprieve.

Savina knew that her brother could never fully regret what had happened, for it had brought him children. She understood that and would do her best to put her hurt behind her though she knew that she could never accept the woman that he had conceived them with. Naniko had never apologized for what her choices had done to Cambria and as a mother that was inexcusable to Savina. As long as that incident caused pain to her child she would never be able to forgive or forget. Still, she wished to see her nieces and nephew more than anything. Their family had always been so close knit that it felt strange and wrong to have members of the family that she had not even met. She was their zia and she wanted to perform those duties for her brother's offspring.

It was odd the way she played the blame game in both of these situations. In her head of course both parties held the blame for what had happened and yet that was not how she had reacted to either situation. While she had been horribly upset and hurt by what her brother had done, the majority of the blame had fallen to the D'Angelo woman. Her somewhat promiscuous past had not helped her any and Savina had been convinced that she had seduced her brother in some manner. With Ghita and Jazper no blame had fallen on her sister and she had taken all her frustrations out on the large male. The Marino had always been a fervent defender of her family and so it really only made sense that she would pass the blame on to the other culprit as a means to protect her siblings. Still, there was no changing what had happened and so she had to cope, as they all did, with the consequences. Thankfully Ehno's words ran true. "Sì. Sono contento per ciò."

As her brother rested his head against her shoulder she rested her own head against his. They had endured and missed much over these moons and while Ehno had been more energetic at the start of their conversation she could now feel that even his exuberance had been drained by the news she had had to share. When he looked back up to her and asked if there was anything else it took her a few moments to think. Thankfully for the both of them she could not find any other news that was of great importance. "Ciò è tutto. Non penso che avrei potuto maneggiare molto più." It was now her turn to lean against him and she brought her legs and feet up onto the bed. Savina just wanted to spend some time with him to help mend what the last couple months had done to their bond.
