for baby savina!

Kansas was in love with spring. He'd made it through wintertime, a season he'd also loved; but it was time for a change. He today was the warmest day of the season thus far, and he'd spent the entire morning exploring. Phoenix had allowed him to leave home and go wherever he wished because of the beauty the day offered. But he didn't wish to wander far. He was too afraid of getting lost. The young boy was terrified of losing his way, because of the stories he'd heard about lost children and the awful things that happened to them.

So, he opted to only cross the borders of Storm. He made his way through the forest, with the idea of finding the creek he'd "skated" upon only a short while ago with Moon and seeing how it looked now. But instead of coming across the creek, the trees thinned, and he found himself in a very small, very pretty little meadow. The pale child grinned as he cautiously trotted into the soft grass. His unease faded significantly, his tail rising from its position between his legs and wagging just the smallest of wags. A flower rose from the earth a few feet ahead, its pink petals swaying innocently in the soft, calm breeze. Kansas approached it curiously, making a small circle around it. He brought his nose to its face, wanting to give it a little kiss like he did with Firefly that made her scream. Maybe the flower wouldn't scream in horror as his twin sister did.

But as his muzzle came in contact with the yellow "nose" of the flower, his own nostrils were suddenly filled with a strange yellow, itchy powder. His face screwed up, and he let out a huge, Eh-EHCHOO! But he wasn't done. No, Kansas stepped a few inches back, his face lifting into the air; he sniffed a few times, then sneezed again. And again. He couldn't stop. And as he sneezed, his tummy began to hurt, because he just wasn't sure what was wrong with him, or why the flower had done this mean thing to him.

omgomgomg! Big Grin

Savina had never experienced the cold, but one thing she did know is that she liked warm and sunny weather. Yup! She liked that very, very much. Even if the sun did make her a little too warm sometimes. It was okay, she thought of it as the sun just being happy to see her and giving her a hug! She had gotten up before her brother and sister had so mama had said that she could start out on her own as long as she was careful. Usually she didn't go out without Ehno, but the day had been so bright she couldn't help but run out to greet it. Her brother would surely come and find her once he was awake. He was better with his nose than she was and so he would have no problem track her down. Then maybe they could chase some rabbits or mice. That would be fun!

The sable pup pranced through the trees happily, stopping every so often to look at a flower or listen to a bird sing high in the branches of a tree. Sometimes she wished the birds would come down closer to the ground so that she could sing with them. One time she had tried, unsuccessfully, to climb up to meet the birds but her mama had told her that wolves weren't meant to climb just like birds weren't meant to walk around on the ground. Still, the girl wished they would make an exception, even just once, and come play with her. It didn't seem they would today either though, so she continued on her way, hoping to find someone or something to play with.

She noticed that the trees were starting to thin and then suddenly in front of her was this pretty meadow! The pup stopped, eyes wide at the beauty of the sight before her. "Wooooows!" she breathed out. It was the most prettiest meadow she had ever sawed. After a moment of staring at it she noticed that this meadow wasn't only a meadow, but a meadow with another puppy in it! With a happy yip she bounded towards the light colored puppy, happy to have someone to play with finally. Though when she got closer she saw that he was sneezing. Not just like, a couple sneezes, but a bunch of sneezes. "'ous okaysies?" The heavily accented words were laced with concern.

He continued sneezing uncontrollably, the force of the sneezes rocking his skinny little body back and forth. He did not hear the approach of the young wolf. Her presence became apparent to him only after she'd spoken. And that scared him! It scared him so badly that he didn't sneeze for several seconds. He had noticed that her voice was different, much different than his, and that was part of the surprise. He gazed curiously at her, noting how she looked almost exactly like Ember. But it wasn't Ember. This girl smelled differently and certainly talked differently.

Stifling another sneeze, Kansas eyed her cautiously. He liked that she'd come to him and spoken, rather than him having to approach her. Greeting others on his own terms was challenging. I, eh—HIC—I tink so ACHOO. He sniffled pitifully, his eyes watering from all the sneezes. He felt like he'd regurgitated through every orifice. Nasty. And now the little girl probably thought he was crying! Wh-who e'you? An' why... why you talk diff'rent from me? He almost said, Why do you talk so funny? but Daddy would say that was not polite.

Savi hadn't meant to scare the other pup, it hadn't even occurred to her that with all his sneezing he wouldn't have been able to tell that someone was coming up to him. As he silently looked at her her ears folded back a little and her tail waved friendlily behind her. A sheepish smile was offered to the lightly colored boy, a silent apology for startling him. The girl was pretty outgoing and so she never thought about if others were shy or not so good around strangers. All she wanted to do was have fun and make a new friend and this boy had pretty blue eyes and a pretty creamy pelt that was almost the exact opposite to her own dark coloring. It was neat!

Finally he spoke in between a couple sneezes and her smile widened. She also noted that he spoke much differently than her, but she didn't pay much notice to it, much more interested in just making friends. "Goods! Wha mades you sneezies so much, huh?" Something must have caused such a sneeze attack, things like that didn't just happen for no reason, not in her experience anyway. Emerald eyes saw the moisture in his pretty blue eyes, but she figured it was just all the sneezes. If she had sneezed like that she would have weepy eyes too! "I'm Savina! Yous can jus calls me Savi tho, if you wants ta. Who is yous? I dunnos why we talks diff'rent..." Savina really didn't have any clue why their voices sounded so different. Maybe just one of those strange things that happens?
