Halcyon Mountain. My apologies for the delay. :/

The silver-furred hybrid crept beyond the borders of Inferni, heading for the surrounding woods. A thick blanket of white coated the ground, much to the hybrid's delight. She showed a toothy grin as she padded through the Dampwoods, twisting her head this way and that. It was late afternoon, but a gray fog had settled over the sky, clouds promising more snow for this afternoon. The air was crisp and sharp, and Kae inhaled in deeply, tilting her silver-furred head back and breathing deep the cleansing cold. There wasn't much snow on the ground, but perhaps if they got an overnight storm, it would remain. The last few days had interspersed rain with the snow, and it hadn't stuck well in some places. The hybrid hoped if it came tonight it would be pure, and the morning would bring a truly wintery world. It would seem cold enough, but Kaena did not know things like the freezing temperature of water, Fahrenheit and Celsius, and even if she did, she did not have a thermometer to measure these things. Still, it seemed the proper temperature.

The coyote hadn't experienced a truly cold winter since the last one she'd spent in old Inferni. The southern lands simply weren't the same, though her time with the Malai Ratree had certainly brought the cold and chill, it simply didn't seem to be the absolute cold of this place. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that 'Souls was situated on what was essentially an island, surrounded on all sides by water. The mountains offered little shelter from the breeze off of the ocean. She was anxious for total winter to settle over this area, and she was confident Inferni was prepared for the season. Vieira had gone and fetched extra blankets for the cave, and the hybrid herself was quite set as far as that went. They even had an extra for anyone else who might be lacking, though Kae had yet to find a recipient for that spare.

The hybrid headed up the mountain, trotting toward the area where she and hybrid had taken down the loner. The silver furred hybrid breathed, but there was no faint tinge of death on the air. The snow had blanketed it all, and perhaps in the spring when the world thawed, the body would continue to decompose, leaving the bones for Kaena to collect. The hybrid settled to her haunches on a rocky overlook, her ears pricked upwards, straining to catch the sounds of the surrounding wild. The snow deadened much of the sound and obscured smell to some degree, but with the cover on the ground, creatures of all sorts left tracks. The hybrid was not absolutely certain why she was venturing away from Inferni; she was in a particularly good mood thanks to the snow. She was not fearful on this end of the world; it was far from the reach of the chocolate-furred devil and his tricks. This was safe space, and the hybrid felt comfortable enough to perch here, merely admiring the new wintery mask of the world.

-waves- hi!

Anu was so very far from home, and yet her nose did not turn to point westward. There was something that kept her moving farther and farther eastward. Her stomach growled as if protesting her direction, but this was why she was here. Silently she scolded it’s unhappiness, but as she remembered why it spoke so loudly she felt the faint tinges of anger touch her mind. Anu was not a competitive creature, but as any predator she never enjoyed seeing the victory dance of prey as they run beyond her grasp. The hare, as freshly white as the newborn snowfall, had leaped with unbidden joy as it sensed her defeat the moment Anu had slowed and halted her pursuit. The chase had left her in woods she could not recognize and scents did not bring her a comforting familiarly. Beyond all the territories she had explored, Anu found that there was very little that called her home. Though the reasons for her to remain within the borders held weight and filled her with guilt and sadness Anu found their call faint so far from their origin. They spoke to her, but their voices only whispers.

Up the mountain she went.

Prey would litter these lands, for the scent of her own kind was light or nonexistent. A lone wolf’s mark was rare, and old if she found it. Her mind cleared the further she climbed and Anu began to feel the light and simple calm that radiated from the silence of the treed landscape. The sky above shadowed her, covering the Sun. It was winter’s way, and Anu did not feel unease without the guidance of her round god. Instead she imagined him seated behind the veil, promising more of the light power that had rained upon the land the night before. Her coat had thickened with the change of season, but she looked lean and fragile as always. The light silver wolfess moved with silence through the sparse forest, mainly dry soil born evergreens.

The Dreamer was lost in the world around her, finding security in her solitude and not noticing that she was far from alone until it was too late to avoid. The scent was all around, and she slowed to a stop with tension in her form. She smelled of Gabriel, but that was no consoling. The blue eyed fey chose to face the beast whom she had come across, instead of fleeing, and in a moments time the gray beast was in her sight. Rather then speak the wolf waited to be noticed, if she hadn’t been found already.

It would seem most of the loner canines of the world had smartened up and moved south or joined up with a pack in time for winter. Those that remained were either weathered to the cold by seasons spent in a Canadian winter, or just idiots seeking a deathwish. The wintertime in this part of the world was no joke, and even a strong, young canine could easily find him or herself starving and frozen half to death in the blink of an eye. The silver-furred hybrid had scraped by some of the winters in this area, and though she welcomed it, she also knew she faced quite the worthy adversary, especially for a creature as old as she was.

The ash-furred coyote remained still for a moment, and just as she was to move, a grayish blur in the distance caught her attention. The movement drew her single golden eye and she squinted, strained to make out the advancing sight of another canine. Wolf or coyote, the silver-furred hybrid did not know, and she did not consider that it might have been a dog, as many were hybrids of the canis familiaris variety in today's world. The cloud-furred female moved without an apparent purpose to Kaena, so she remained where she was, uncertain whether to simply dart away or wait and see what happened.

Her coal nose twitched several times, inhaling to scent the wolf's coat for signs of Haku or Dahlia de Mai, anything similar to that. The hybrid almost wished she were white-coated to better blend in with the snow; as the other canine approached the silver-furred coyote realized she had been spotted without a doubt, though the gray-furred canine seemed to want to wait for Kaena to acknowledge her. The hybrid hesitated at this, calculating. If this was an enemy, she would not have paused, she would have kept charging while she had the best element of surprise. That was absolutely ruined now, and the canine did not look particularly malicious. Putting on her stoic face, the hybrid tried to quell the feverish fear that knotted in her core at all times now, speaking to the wolf. "Enjoying the snow?" she queried, trying to sound tough and as if she hadn't been doing the very same a moment before. The hybrid had no idea how successful that attempt was.

short... & i think i made up; Infernian.. but i kind of like to do that xD

Gabriel had said the words, the less wolves roaming around his pack, the better. Anu wondered as she looked at the hybrid creature before her if there was a distaste for her kind by all members. The Dreaming female had not met many of the clan, and so her knowledge was minimal and skewed by the trust she held for their alpha male. She would surely be accepted by this Infernian. Still the lean and fragile wolf stood with the idea that fleeing would be her best option. Yet the female acknowledged her presence beyond her snowy seat and for a moment the two creatures simply looked at each other. With little by way of a look on her face or emotion in her tone the other beast spoke. And what came was a question that Anu had not expected. It broke through the tension that the Crimson fey was feeling, and with a soft voice she responded.

“Very much” The snow was refreshing, deafening the world to the clatter that wildlife made. Even the chatter of birds was softened. Without letting eyes drift away from the gray coy-woman the blue eyed wolfess explained, “I didn’t mean to interrupt.”, her tone slightly more submissive then before. Disrupting the other’s thoughts and reflection had not been her intention, and if she wished it Anu would leave.

I like it! XD

The coyote was confident in her position; she was uphill from the wolf, she was well-aware of the other canid's presence, she could move very, very quickly when she wanted to. At the first sign of trouble Kaena could have bolted for Inferni, but some of that old fighting edge had returned to the Lykoi woman, calling her cowardly for even considering departing from a brawl. The silver-furred coyote did not seek to start one here, but if the other canine decided to, it was Kaena's right to defend herself, was it not? She shouldn't go running home to Gabriel every time someone decided to pick on her.

Still, the other canine didn't seem particularly aggressive, and so Kaena kept her demeanor cooled, her golden-yellow eye peering at the other canine in something akin to interest, still studying her and trying to weed out underlying motives that the other canine might have carried somewhere. The silvery hybrid was not extremely perceptive, but she had been in enough fights to recognize aggressive body language when she saw it. None of that lurked in this pale-coated female, and her responses were neutral—apologetic, even!

"As far as I know, Inferni's borders don't extend up here, so I wouldn't say you're interrupting," the coyote said, pausing before she continued. "So long as we're just enjoying the first snow of winter, and that's all." The words were friendly enough, but it was the rather plain, directed tone the hybrid spoke it in. It was an inquiry of sorts, or a reminder to play friendly to the wolf—Kaena advertised that she did not seek to cause trouble, but she would not hesitate to keep it from harming her if it came running towards her. She hadn't moved from the spot nor introduced herself; she had received a rather brutal reminder of what kind of a world the wolves lived in, and it was better to ascertain their intentions before giving them anything.

you post so early in the morning... its slightly mind boggling xD

The kind wolfess smiled. No longer wondering what the other’s intensions might be now that she had appeared. It was a strange land to come upon another wolf, or hybrid in the case of the female before Anu. They were seemingly lifeless, now that they were covered in inches of snow. To hunt along the slope would be a challenge and thus survival was slim among the evergreens. The Dreamer concluded that the smoky hued beast was looking for the solitude, and here was Anu to inadvertently ruined her search. With the clan member’s words Anu perked slightly, and her smile grew lighter with what she took as an invitation to approach. It may have been solitude that the coy-femme was hoping for but it would Anu that she received.

The light toned creature moved upwards, slowly and still in a stance that wept neutrality. It was her normal posture, even among the wolves that she led. It was not her way to announce the stature that her rank gave. She would rather bring an energy of tranquility then that of assertiveness. Anu let her blue eyes wander the beasts face briefly. It was true, there was only one eyes placed along her heavily lined features. For in her approach she had been unsure. Her smile never faded, and instead of staring she looked out to the view that she almost felt like she stole from the other female as she looked beyond the mountain’s face.

“I’m Anu, of Crimson Dreams.” She gladly introduced herself to the Inferni beast. It was then that she took in the woman’s face fully. It was battle ridden, hardened by years and told more stories then Anu was sure she could hear. Yet she saw a beauty among the marks, as if she could see beyond and unmask the elder canine pull away the layers of life written along it.

Though the hybrid hadn't been feeling particularly sociable when she'd sought the seclusion of the mountain; this much was true. Since Vieira had moved into her cave, she had found it was more and more difficult to have her much-needed isolation time. Even then, once the coyote was away from the rest of the world and alone once more, she found no peace. Being alone meant she had no one other than herself to turn to, it meant her thoughts raged inward and she merely remembered Haku and what he'd done to her, so she was almost glad for this stranger, this distraction from her problems.

The pale gray wolf did not smell of Haku or his pack; indeed, her scent was one mostly unfamiliar to Kaena. She had heard of Crimson Dreams prior to this, but the number of canines she had actually met from the pack hovered around one or none. Naniko had mentioned the pack, but when Kaena had spoken to her, the pale white wolf had already been removed from that particular place, and though she'd spoken of it fondly, Kaena got the distinct feeling her friend my be better off somewhere else. If a home caused too much stress, it was simply better to walk away from it. Thankfully, Inferni had never been that way to Kaena, though lately she doubted her own ability to perform her rank's duties. She was a piss-poor Centurion, just like she was a terrible Aquila. Kaena Lykoi was not the steady rock that her son was; she did not lead Inferni for more than a year either time she'd held the reigns, where as Gabriel had been the clan's Aquila for the last three years and counting.

The wolf introduced herself, and Kaena nodded, doing the same in kind: "Kaena Lykoi," she simply stated. She'd already made it abundantly clear where she had come from; Anu had seemed to recognize that upon first inhaling Kaena's particular scent. The grizzled coyote's threat (or reminder, whichever seemed more appropriate) went without comment from the other canine, but her body language spoke words of neutrality and kindness, something Kaena could certainly appreciate. It was not within Kaena to extend the other canine a "good to meet you" or something similar; it was enough for the Centurion to simply remain where she was, sizing the other canine up in a manner indistinct from that of a predator sizing up prey. Perhaps that was just the hardened look the scars inflicted on Kaena's visage; it was incredibly difficult for one so scarred and beaten as the Lykoi woman to look kind and fluffy.

"Anything or anyone in particular you were looking for up here in this corner of the world?" the hybrid inquired amiably, more out of politeness than any direct interest, though she always kept her coal-dipped ears open. The grapevine provided an incredible amount of information, and the hybrid woman was eager to hear of anything that could be used against Haku, more eager still to hear of anything that caused trouble or hardship for the chocolatey wolf. He was her primary focus now; the hybrid was too cowardly and yellow to seek him out for direct revenge, so she contemplated other methods of sniping him from his post. The hybrid was yet unaware he'd ascended to the top rank in his pack, a fact that might have chilled her to the very bone.

SSWM - 612

The Inferni clan was a place Anu kept away from, though such an idea was not her own. The lands were protected heavily and the leader, though friendly towards her, had spoken of their dislike towards wolves along their border. Even when she had stated that she was no threat, he had been certain that she would turn to tooth and claw if the moment arose. His thoughts were true, but Anu herself had a difficult time believing them. As the female spoke her name, simply, Anu came to find that it was the first of the Lykoi family she had ever met. Unbeknown to her the family was large and it might just be a rare thing to find a beast who had never met of the coyote’s kin. The Dreamer gave a smile, glad that the female was friendly and pleased that she did not find her presence here in ill will. Her features did not change, still slightly stone in appearance even after Anu had grown warm in her words and demeanor. It must be the new snow, the cold wind that so willingly ripped across the face of the mountain that kept the other canine at an almost icy distance. However, the two females did not sit in silence for very long. Her question had not been what Anu was expecting, though what she had expected was unknown as well and may have only been the sound of the wind passing between pine needles. The view that was bestowed beyond their perch and the silent peace that the mountain, broken only by the periodic drifts of snow, would have satisfied the Crimsinan. But her voice was welcomed, and Anu let her tail wave against the soft snow as she let her voice rise in its gentle way to respond.

“I have never explored these lands before.” The wolfess spoke with honesty, finding that lies deserved no place between she and the other female. The mountain was new to her, and she was so very far from home she doubted that she would have met anyone at the eastern most reaches of the region.
“I am afraid my wandering has taken we away from home too often, lately.” she commented, thinking of the wolves that she had left behind in her few days of exploration. Anu was no novice when it came to roaming, though in the last few years that trait had been tamed. Still, Anu took to the city for supplies, she patrolled to secure the border and visited allies to reform those ties. But a piece of her wished to just be, without the pressures that had settled onto her shoulders. Anu thought of Colibri, the wolfess that needed her so, and at this time was to weak to shelter her as Anu had the ex-Dahlian. It was not easy simply watching over her, when her heart yearned for such deeper things.

Blue eyes looked away from the winter scene, and let her gaze fall to the other female. It was easy for Anu to connect with many souls, and she found it natural to become at ease in the presence of a non threatening beast. Kaena did not give the smile that Anu hoped to exchange, and had not even extended her clan’s name in hope of showing the peace between the two packs. Still the Dreamer could not help but find the female intriguing and one she hoped to know. The two second in commands just might have more in common they first believed possible.
“You?” Anu wondered as she watched the Inferni female, her smile still curved her lips upwards slightly and gently.

*SPARKLESPARKLE* I am now going to watch you in your sleep! Word Count: 768

The hybrid woman was no stranger to the perceptions wolves had of Inferni, and she certainly could not blame them in many cases. It was true, the clan had perpetrated violence against wolves for no reason other than that they were wolves in the past—even so, Gabriel had worked very hard to reverse that myth and make the world see the coyote clan for what it truly was. They were simply defending themselves, their lives, and a way of life that was distinctly different from that of the wolves, and though certainly both sides had perpetrated crimes against the other in the past, the coyotes had suffered more losses in Kaena's mind. The coyotes were the victims, picked on by their larger cousins for no reason other than that they were larger and potential competition. Perhaps the wolves were afraid that the coyotes would sully their blood, creating monstrous, dirty coyote hybrids with their wolf women. Suc a thought was worthy of a sneer, for Kaena was greater than any of her thirds. She had the strength of a wolf, the cunning of a coyote, and the energetic, unfading optimism of a dog. All together combined, this made Kaena Lykoi a very arrogant creature, indeed.

The scars had made it difficult for Kaena to make expressions for some time now, and when she did emote, her facial features were usually twisted in some strange way, compensating for the hard and old scar tissue criss-crossing her face, knotting her muscles and tightening them up. From the amount and varying age of her scars, Kaena's face might as well have been etched into granite, for emotion practically needed to be forced on her stiff facial muscles. Still, the other wolf had offered her a smile, and the hybrid's coal lips turned upwards in one in return. There was quite enough drama in the silver-furred Centurion's life at the moment. With Haku's memory bearing down on her every day, bringing her closer to the random explosion of what had really happened to her, the elder hybrid wished to enjoy every moment of serenity and quiet she had left, even if it was time spent with the enemy. This was infinitely better than being pressed to the floor beneath Haku; this was heaven compared to that hellish nightmare.

It was curious to Kaena that the other canine would not have explored this land, but she vaguely recalled where Crimson Dreams was located. This familiar space to her was like an alien land to the Dreams wolf, perhaps as much as the Trenches would be familiar to Anu. That particular space was one Kaena had never seen, perhaps because it would have required delicately walking betwixt Crimson Dreams and AniWayan territory. Then again, Kae had nothing to fear from the Aniwayans; Dawali was a genuine sweetheart with whom she shared many ideals and similarities, and Susquehanna was her friend. The Crimson Dreams pack she did not know so well. The silver-furred Centurion had only heard what Naniko told her, and while that impression did not leave the grizzled hybrid with a particularly good feeling in her stomach, she could not take the word of a wolf—even one she considered her friend—as reason enough to shun an entire group. "There's a neat beach somewhat to the south of here," the coyote commented, figuring the Serene Sands wouldn't be frequented by this canine too often. She wanted to keep "her" "private" beach private and relatively isolated just the way it was. That was one place where she had gone to seek solitude often, finding it easier to walk by Phoenix Valley territory than Dahlian territory. "Good prey on the mountain in summer, not so much now," she offered. It was nice to share information, right?

With a bitter smile, the hybrid looked away from Anu for a moment, peering out over Halcyon Mountain as if she was seeing it for the first time now. It had been too long since she'd ventured out of Inferni comfortably. "I've been keeping at home myself lately. Better to have the protection of the clan," she mused aloud, unable to keep the spare thought from drifting out of her mouth. Now perhaps she was offering too much, and at the pallid wolf's question the coyote turned back to look, shrugging and considering her answer carefully. "Sometimes even I can get tired of Inferni, I suppose," she said, a fearsome grin showing on her scarred muzzle at long last. There was the old pride, there was the old Kaena back again for a split second before disappearing again, retreating back into the shell she'd erected around herself for more protection. One could never have enough.

ooh, something to look forward to tonight!
SSWM - 790

The Lt. General was unsure where the war began or what had been the catalyst. But it was obvious, as from what the leader of Inferni had told her, that wolves and coyotes just did not get along. Enemies, for some unknown (to Anu) reason. Reasons that had not been explained to her, and reasons Anu would likely never understand. It was odd to her that two species so similar could not live in peace. Her own son had blood of a coyote, and yet Haven was immune to the hatred that so thickly ran between the two kinds? Anu didn’t understand, and so had found it hard to recognize it. But in each member of the coyote clan she saw that distain, and Anu was beginning to find it hard to ignore it any longer. She wondered if all the hybrids that ever lived had been the product of the same vile hate and anger, or if there could be love between them. The Dreamer wondered if this coy-woman would always hate her simply because she was a wolf, because her parents had been of a pure wolf pack and had been loving mates, producing a litter that held no blood of a coyote. Why was she unwelcome simply because she was of one kind? Did her blue eyed bore holes into those she looked at, did she attack those that passed by too close, and did she make coyote pups cry? She wished to know what had begun the war of hate, and maybe if she had only know, that there were wolves beyond her door that sought to destroy the clan she would understand. But she felt as if their history was only theirs and if she was too ask for it she would be searching for something that no one would want to reflect upon. It left the tawny female confused and conflicted.

She was so very far from home, and this was place beyond the cities reaches and Anu hardly went that far. Dahlia was about as far as she had ever wished to go in the past, and now that those borders were out of bounds Anu had roamed more south then she was used to. She doubted she would go back to the flower pack, Colibri having been the reason that she ever visited. Now that Haku had her scent on his twisted brain she was sure the moment she stepped a toe within his kingdom he would have her throat. It was a sickening feeling, since it had once been a place where Anu had known many friends. There was slowly disappearing, dwindling one by one. Luckily she had been able to save her lover from his clutches, though not unscathed. Her tail had been severed at the center, and the once beautiful sweeping appendage was a fluffy stump. Her life was worth her tail, and Anu was not ungrateful that they both survived, but it only showed that she was far from whole.

Kaena spoke, and Anu tried to picture the sort of place she described. She thought of the beach that lined the southern most point of Crimson Dreams, perhaps it was as serine as Riunione Beach.
“Oh?” Anu asked as she listened to the woman’s other tour guiding tips. It was interesting information, and if Anu was trying to stick to the more southern parts of the region, and away from Dahilia de Mai it would be good to know.
“Its peaceful here, I’m sure I will be back.” She added, noting that it might be worth a hunting trip. Eyes of sky blue watched as the coyote looked away, obviously reflected upon deep thoughts. Her demeanor seemed spoiled by something, even if it was simply her normal character. But Anu found it hard to believe. Still she did not pry, hoping to be able to get to know the female, even if slowly. She let her eyes fall from the woman’s face, unsure if her staring made her uncomfortable, perhaps she did not like strangers to look at her scars. Anu gathered her response, opening up her own life as to show that she was whiling to take on what the Inferian held.
“Sometimes I just need to escape, though I like to call it scouting or exploring.” Anu admitted with a small bit of humor in her tone. What she needed to run from? Anu could hardly place her finger on it, finding it contorted and complicated. Though there were so much more, and more powerful things that called her home. She still needed to moment to simply breathe, thin as the elevated air might be. It was cold and clean and felt light in her lungs.

Wtf, how did I lag so hard on this thread. D: 469.

War had existed between their two species for far longer than the silvery Centurion had been on the earth. Wolves had torn coyotes to pieces and vice versa; they had killed one another's children for many centuries prior to the inception of Inferni. By classic ideas, coyotes were shifty loners, prone to living off of carrion and viewed by the humans as little more than pests. In the hybrid woman's eyes, though, her species had survived. Coyotes were not endemic to Europe; whatever of her species lived on that continent were immigrants, though the silvery coyote could not figure out why they would want to move to such a place and live amongst wolves.

Her own children had been slain by wolves, cut down in their youth with unnecessary brutality. They hadn't strayed far from Inferni territory at all; they were young, defenseless. The coyote woman could remember fewer good wolves than bad, but it was true that the worst tended to stick out in her mind, and both rogue wolves, Salvaged, her stepmother, Haku... all wolves, and all terrible. She was no saint, but the hybrid woman liked to think she had calmed quite a bit since her youth. There was no desire to court death; she had a family and a clan and a reason to live.

The hybrid agreed with the wolf's words—indeed, this place was quite peaceful. "Inferni's borders run along the mountain's beginnings," the hybrid said. Revealing information about the borders was not so dangerous; after all, one could simply follow the borders to determine where they ended and began. Her next statement was a little more cautious, though she did not feel there was imminent danger from this wolf. "I can understand the need to escape," she responded. "Closeness and quietness. It is a good retreat," she said.

The hybrid woman's added question was sudden, unexpected. "Do you often find pack life... requiring escape?" She knew next to nothing of Crimson Dreams; what she had gleaned off of Naniko was minimal and basically pertaining to the existence of the pack alone. She did not feel this way with Inferni; whether it was because the clan was filled with her family or because she had helped raise the clan like a child or some other unknown reason was not clear. It did not happen so often with Inferni; the silvery hybrid was generally comfortable within her clan's borders. Something told her, though, that these few weeks would be the last she'd be able to take respite from her clan. They would need her too much in the upcoming turmoil. The hybrid was not a psychic, however, and she no more knew Inferni was to enter a war with the coming of the new year than she did her own fate in the end.

Perhaps she would be forever untouched by the battles of the species, but as she grew closer to those that lived in Inferni she became more aware of their plight. Still, it upset her to think that she was untrustworthy, simply since she was a wolf. The types like Haku and Cwmfen’s father Corvus gave their kind a poor name, and the blue eyed woman was just now feeling the affects of their actions in a very different way. But the wolf could not linger on the idea, for her understanding of it was far too blurred and fragmented for her to dwell on it. The world was not split in two, the good and the evil. There were the grays that committed good and evil deeds with circumstances that could be preserved differently in every beast’s mind.

Her ears took in the bit of geography that Kaena gave. Her mind envisioning the invisible lines that ran along the starting slopes of the mountains the two females had climbed this pleasant day. Anu was not sure if the gray woman wished to simply inform her of the boundaries that she should be avoiding, or if it was to simply say that this was her neighborhood. Anu wondered if she frequented this place often, as Anu did the garden and orchard. It was a simple place that brought her peace and tranquility, a familiar and yet slightly out of the way home for her to reflect. It was a question that could not go unasked,
“Do you come here often?” It was quite a climb for a little getaway, abut the view and the silence was so very worth it.

Anu smiled at her agreeing words, and took a breath as if to bring in the closeness and quietness that the stranger spoke of. Quickly her thoughts were banished by the question that was brought to her. Anu looked at the other’s face, ears forward at the surprise of the disturbance of silence.
“No.” Anu responded, with the same sudden feeling in her voice. She was not running away like it was what she always did. This was new for her, this was unlike anything she had ever experienced and in the past she had faced the hardship, for she had been the on to create it. This, it was all to much. A moment, it was all she asked for.
“No, I have never loved a place more.” Anu explained, if that was what the female was inquiring. So what was it that she was running from? Colibri? Her gentle voice and soft touch? No, such a thing was far from frightening.

The silver-furred canine did not understand the difficulty other canines might have had in understanding their world. After all, it was hard to fathom without having been in coyote fur. It might also be suggested that Kaena lived in an entirely different world than the present reality; she was from a harder time, when coyotes were far more actively persecuted for their species' differences. These days, it seemed less likely that wolves were disrespectful, and even rarer for them to be outright hateful of the coyotes. Sure, there were always the morons that crossed borders—but maybe they would cross those borders regardless of who set them. Wolf or coyote, maybe it didn't really matter, and those individuals were prone to stepping across clearly marked perimeters regardless. In any case, Kaena did not seek to change her ways; indeed she did not even realize that her perception of reality was certainly skewed, and she very likely would have viewed any attempts to change her views, regardless of the source, as worthless tarradiddle.

The coyote paused for a moment, considering the question. As of late, she had not traveled outside of Inferni's borders too often. This was the furthest she'd been in some time. A statement in that vein, however, would no doubt lead to more questions. "When I can get away," she allowed, rolling her shoulders in a tiny shrug. "The clan keeps me busy, of course," she said, a small smile of pride showing for a moment on her scarred features. "Though I do feel quite the same about it as you do regarding your homeland," the hybrid added, that same loving smile on her face. Since founding Inferni on the beach with Zarah, it had been home—there was no questioning that. Her birthlands were not home, and any other places she might have referred to as such were either burned to nothing or otherwise ravaged by time.

its alright, and btw... those resources are great!

As she spoke Anu could not help but let her mind wonder to the only Inferni member that she knew well, or felt she knew at all. Gabriel was as she was. Not in every way, but in a few that mattered greatly to both of them. Their meeting had been brief, filled with tension at first but that had passed and the two had spoken in depth. And then once more, it had been pleasant to see him that second time and Anu remembered him with fondness. There was always too sides to a story, and Anu had gotten bits and pieces form both. Inferni was a malice group that fought tooth and claw against any wolves, and then there was this; Sitting beside the coyote woman with a pleasant tone and only a slight bit of weariness at their first greetings. It was similar to Gabriel’s approach, and Anu easily moved past it with Kaena as she had him. Each speaking of family as the most important of all.

The blue-eyed wolfess gave a small smile, noticing that they held more in common then Anu had first thought. Her scared appearance was perhaps only skin deep,
“When I was young I never thought I would leave home. Never believed that there was something bigger beyond the small pack I grew up in.” Anu continued with her soft light tone. She had not spoken of her true homelands for what felt like years, the memories were nothing more then vague emotions and images skewed by her imagination. But Anu did not believe them to be horribly distorted.
“But Crimson Dreams had given me everything. Life, a family, love.” Her smile widened, her heart feeling sentimental and bleeding the emotion into her words that floated off to the female beside her. There were things that one just needed to venture off and collect themselves, things that those of her birth just could not provide. It had taken her years to find relative happiness, but here it was.
