Merry Christmas!!
300+

When she woke the woman found the light that flooded the windowed room was muted, still dark with a lazy Sun’s late rise. She has sat at her table of papers and pencils, thinking over another project. For a month she had been working with the anatomy of her species, again and again looking in a large mirror that she had dragged into her room and drawing her figure, yet the woman could not master certain parts. With sleep in her eyes Mati dangled a pencil above a fresh piece of paper and yawed.

She let it fall with a small tap, and then moved to the windows. Purple eyes looked out to the a world new. Snow had fallen that night, and with it the flakes had brought a new palette of colors. With the sun’s rise the ground had erupted into a fierily blaze of yellow and tinges of red. She had to squint against the gleam, and felt awake and inspired as she looked at the icy layers of her backyard. Mati walked through the room, heading for the door and picking a stripped scarf from a hook along the way.

The tall wolfess stood in the calf deep fluff and stared out into the white wonderland that nature had created. Her home was so suddenly changed, and she was finally old enough to appreciate every small snowflake and every new hue that been lost until now. The snow brought blue to the world where brown of Fall had dominated. In the shadows of a snow drift she noticed the purples where the last green grasses had lived. The scarf fluttered in a light wind, though the warmth of the newborn Sun had settled sweetly on her back while purple eyes wandered as she imagined such a scene on a fresh piece of canvas.

It had been a morning of rude awakenings for Jazper. He had been having quite a pleasant dream. One of victory and glory. Definitely a dream he would have enjoyed continuing however screams, be it of fear or excitement he would not tell, but yes, screams sent the once asleep Knight up onto his feet and looking around for the source of cries. His golden eyes landed on the comfy chairs set in front of one of his bay windows. Upon these chairs where his son and daughter, Staring outside, jumping, and barking in worried tones. Finally Sophia's soft voice floated into his ears ,”Daddy whats all that white stuff?!” She asked in a hushed, yet excitable, whisper. Aro turned momentary from his growling to add onto the conversation, “It's a whole fleet of tiny spies aren't they?!” Smiling Jazper just shook his head as he walked over and put a hand on each of the pups. Pups and their imaginations.

Sure enough though, winter was upon them and tiny flakes fell from the sky to join the snow which already lined the ground untouched. His smile grew as he looked down, “No, no. Aro, Sophia,” He addressed each as he looked form one to the other, “This is snow! Its a sign that winter is here to play.” He had been reading them bed time stories since before they could talk, stories of humans, of dragons and princesses and knights! But for the past week he had been warning him that winter was coming. Explaining that it would look different outside but it was a good thing. At the announcement both pups started barking in excitement begging to go out and play in the snow. Quickly he wrapped matching red scarves around each of their necks and started down the stairs. The sound of yips and barks most likely waking up any remaining sleepers. As soon as he opened the door both of his offspring ran as fast as their little legs could carry them, and ran, and ran, into the snow. As for himself he stepped outside and began wrapping his own red scarf around his neck as he turned with a smile as he approached the brown hued wolfess. “Good Morning Mati.”

She had been aware that inspiration did not just flow from her finger tips for some time now, really ever since she began trying to create pictures upon canvas and paper. It felt like years ago that she had put a pencil in her paw, and yet she remembered it like yesterday. The Church girl had begun as a way to express herself through small sketches, and then she had found the paints and colors. It hadn’t stopped since. And just as she found that inspiration didn’t just come whenever she wished it, Mati saw that it would come in any shape. Large paws wrapped the scarf around her neck as the wind pushed it away from her collar, though it did little to keep her warmer then her thick Earthen hued fur. Moments passed as she did little more then gaze at the fresh snow and the crystals of colors caught in the glistening ice.

The peace was quickly broken. And she turned her head to find that it were the pups of Jazper and Ghita that bounded forward. Mati smiled, her grin wide and excited to see the pups. She had not been able to interact with them much since their birth, but she accounted her new found wandering ways for the reason she had not. It was only recently that she came to venturing out of her home’s borders, and it had taken its told on the time she spent with her extended family. They were adorable, wrapped in reds scarves that matched their fathers. Violet eyes gleamed as she looked from the youths to their father who greeted her warmly. “Good morning.” she responded with the same warmth.

Knowing that it was the first snowfall for the small pups Mati watched them eagerly, and found that they both seemed to enjoy it. Small sharp sounds came from the duo, excited about the sudden change in their small worlds. Giving the father a last glance Mati ran after the two pups and gathered snow in her hands as she chased after them. “Wait for me!” She called, bounding on two legs towards a large snowdrift, snow balls in her hands. The Nanny found that she no longer felt the same low energy that she once felt moments before. She rounded the drift, and sat behind it to take up the proper position for attack. “Over here.” She called to the pups, hoping that they would hide from the tall raven-hued father.

There was something about the first snow fall for pups. It was exciting for them, a new experience ten even the days before had brought. The last winter he had spent in Crimson Dreams the pack had a feast and exchanged presents. He often played the music Savina had brought for him. A small smile played on his lips as he recalled that evening. The large hall, his grand piano and the feast he had been cooking up n fires all day. The different meats spread out ever so nicely and the excitement on the pups faces. This winter they had not celebrated together however, He had made a few trips to Halifax finding odds and ends for Aro and Sophia. A few days ago he had relieved to the pups his pile of goods: stuffed animals, blankets, balls, and random accessories including hats, scarves, ties and necklaces for their entertainment. He had watched his two pups play all afternoon and well into the evening to his pleasure and satisfaction. Sophia had taken claim to a tie, she hadn't stopped wearing it yet, except when he demanded she take it off while sleeping. Best to prevent hazards. However, all in all it seemed that the winter just made Aro and Sophia quite happy.

Mati's own warm welcome made him smile more. She had grown into a beautiful wolfess. He was proud of her in his own right. Jazper had watched her and her siblings grow up before his eyes, making him feel quite old though he was just under a year older then her. The thought made him begin to wonder if she had found a male of interest yet. His pondering did not last however as the brown hues lady ran from his side only to call to the pups and hide behind a snow bank leaving the male rather confused. The two pups were enjoying themselves, ignoring the two adults only to take in all of the white fluffy stuff. Aro was running circles around his rusty colored sister while Sophia was rather more concerned with why the wet stuff was so cold. Their play time was cut short as the wolfess they knew as Mati ran past them and behind a pile of the fluff calling to them. Sophia giggled with glee as she started with little hops behind the structure while Aro took the situation more seriously making large fast paced steps until he too was hidden. “Why are we hiding from daddy? Why is this stuff so cold and wet? Where does it come from?” The questions came stampeding out of Sophia's little muzzle. The black pup stared up at Mati, “Why you holding the white stuff?” His concern clear in his voice as he still was not convinced the little white specks where not spies of sorts. Jazper remained standing alone, tempted to follow after the pups but his amusement and curiosity got the best of him. The two needed to interact with others, to work as a team.

Mati had always seen Jazper as a constant and unmoving presence in the pack. Others had drifted to and fro, but not the tall raven hued male. Though his appearance changed, with the addition of a facial tattoo, he never truly had. He was always the eager protector, the one that she always thought of what there was danger threatening the pack. He was their courage, he was their muscle. The Knight that would protect the solders of the Dreaming pack. Not every beast was made for fighting, and many found other ways of helping the pack as her adoptive mother had. But then there were those like Jaz that were built for war. Though, as she watched him interact with his children, she figured he wished there to never be any sort of conflict crashing against the border of their homelands.

The three sat behind the snow bank, and Mati looked at their confused faces with a sly smile. They would learn in time the mischief that could ensue. She balled the snow up in her hands, “Shhhh....” She told the little female who questioned her, it was important to keep still when hunting. “Its snow,” She explained as her snow ball formed and began to numb her fingers. The two pups had a few features of both their parents, and Sophia’s coloring reminder Mati of Haven. “since it so cold, the rain last night had turned to snow.” Mati attempted to explain. Hopefully is they understood that it was as simple as rain then there would be nothing to worry about.

Aro spoke, his tone serious and seeming slightly concerned. Of course there was nothing to worry about, “You want to play a game?” Mati asked as she moved to gather more snow for a second snowball. Perhaps the pups would enjoy chasing their father around and jumping around in the fresh powder.

The coal warrior stood silent and rather awkwardly alone as he looked about awaiting what would come form the urgent whispers, and rather loud whispers, of his pups. The view was beautiful, as it was from every window of the mansion. The soft white of the snow reflecting the sun in a marvelous and bright combination of colors. Taking a deep breath the mix of smells filled his nasal passage. Trees, snow, prey, and the wolves of the pack all mixed together. As he waited patiently he reminisced over his own time spent running around the mansion on four paws that had been all but massive looking in comparison to his ever growing body. He has been quite the handful for the Crimson Dreams adults with being stubborn as a bull and having a temper to match. All he could hope was that his two children would share the same love of Crimson Dreams that he now had.

The snow bank seemed huge in comparison to Sophia , but she didn't care! It was just like having her own little castle to protect her. Her yellow eyes gleamed with curiosity as Mati explained what the white fluff was. Snow. However, she grew even more confused as she was told that the rain had turned into snow. Where they the same thing? They didn't look like the same thing. Maybe they just came form the same place. She twitched her nose in frustration, she would just ask dad later. Aro's mind was a little more simplistic at the moment as he was fully focused on the chocolate girl before him as the two were asked if they wanted to play a game. The dark male began shaking his head vibrantly and he exclaimed, “I'm good at games!” The smaller Knight however simply asked, “What kinda game?” Aro never asked the right questions.

Mati looked at both of the pups with a wide smile. Playing with them reminded her of playing with her own brothers and sister. How she missed those day, when everything was a new discovery and everything could be turned into a game. She and Haven would play for hours, making up the rules as they went along. These moments would not be forgotten by the small pups, and their parents would not forget them either.

Taking the snow ball in her hand she added a little more of the powdered flakes to it, she wanted it big and light rather then dense and hard. "Lets surprise your dad." She spoke with her smile growing, tossing the snow ball up and then catching it in her had. The game was coming together in her mind, and she looked to the more forthright of the two siblings. The little girl looked at her with a curious gaze, but she saw that there was a bit of suspicion there as well. Sophia, you need to distract him." She explained, looking back to the wolf that stood out beyond their snow bank. She was certain that Jaz would be expecting something, but Mati also knew that he would play right along with the rest of them.

"Aro?" She asked, "I need more snow like this." She held up a small pile of light snow and then let it fall from her palm. Mati had scrapped it away from the snow bank, and she knew that there was a perfect hiding place for the spry little girl to spring from. Mati wished to let the pups discover the different possibilities, and to allow them to choose how they would go about their missions. Discovery and imagination would bloom, and the Nanny was not one to do all the make-believing.
