After the afternoon she had spent with Vieira she had headed back into the city to do some more exploring. At first she had found the place a bit dull, but once she had cracked its exterior she had found that there were all sorts of interesting things to find within its crumbling walls. They had used up most of her dye and so she had wanted to come and find some more to stock up on it. As the freeze really settled in on the land she wouldn’t really be able to keep up that hobby, but she could be ready to start it up again once the weather warmed. Rikka had also found another comforter to bring back to her cave. Winter wasn’t her favorite season, but she had to admit being wrapped up in all those soft blankets like a cocoon was a very nice feeling. Plus it was better to be over prepared than under and she didn’t know how many more of these trips she’d be able to make once winter hit in full force. The hybrid collected a few eclectic little trinkets that caught her eye and then decided that she better head back home before it got too dark.

She trotted back into the clan’s lands without notice and made a beeline for her cave, wanting to store away her new findings. Crawling inside she stuck the dyes in the back of the cave to store until the weather warmed and then laid out her new comforter alongside the previous one. She plopped herself down in her cozy little nest and looked out the mouth of the cave, taking in the sunset. Comfortable as she was, the open was calling to her strongly and it seemed her spirit was not yet prepared to rest. Deciding to leave her satchel behind she once again exited her dwelling and started to walk to the southwest with no particular destination in mind, she just wanted to talk a leisurely stroll before calling it a night.

Her feet carried her past the borders of Inferni and into the unclaimed lands. Rikka had cut through the edges of this forest on her trips to the city, but she really hadn’t taken the time to look at it closely. It was a little creepy, spider webs hanging almost every place you looked. She wasn’t bothered by arachnids; it just gave the place that Halloweeny feel. Vaguely she recalled that the pack that could be hostile, Dahlia de Mai, was in this direction but she wasn’t concerned. As long as she gave their borders a wide berth she figured that things would be perfectly fine.

The coyotes had taken their first step and things were finally moving now. Haku stalked the borders endlessly, though Gabriel de le Poer and his witty minions had yet to come back. A member of Dahlia has already been injured and made completely useless. It truly bothered him, because it was his own sister and he had been forced to assign both Conor and Alexey to keep and eye on her and take care of her children. That meant that three members were currently tied down and unable to fight, and he was displeased. Truly, the best choice would be to let the children starve and wither and Mew Sadira slowly die from her injuries, but the pack was not likely to go along with such orders. It was bullshit that he would still have to follow some rules, but there was no open sign of complaint on the male’s features, for his hands were free to fuck up with Dahlia de Mai and Inferni once more, and Lillith was positive that Slay and his coward of a mate had run for it and would not return. He had wondered if they would seek refuge in a pack. It could have worked and they could have brought further conflict to him, but nothing had happened and she truly had failed and left her Dahlian members in the hands of a crazed murderer. Again, no complaints from the male, because this was purely good for him and what he wanted to do.

With swift movements his form left the heavily marked borders and followed a route northeast. He broke into the forest crept through the darkness lit dimly by the brilliant snow crystals. It did not occur to the male that the beauty and strangeness of Mother Nature was apparent all around him in this unique area. In summertime the arachnids were many and bothersome, but the cold and the snow transformed the forest into something magical. The webs had gathered a thousand glittering snow motes that reflected in the light reflected once again in the snow covering the ground. Haku did not see this; he only gritted his teeth in resentment for the white matter as it made silent approach very difficult. He stopped in his tracks and wondered why he was here. A dark shadow moved lazily past him. As he turned his head to investigate the dark ghoul, he saw fangs and rotten flesh smile hideously as it moved without a sound. A soul was close by and ready to be devoured.

His eyes stayed with the dark creature as it wandered away without leaving footprints behind in the soft snow. This did not trouble the crazed male, for he knew that the being was real. They crept up to the surface between cracks and muddled liquid, up to feed on the conflict that was to come. Their numbers were increasing every day. Soon he would wander a land overtaken by darkness. He waited patiently and was rewarded with the sound of careless footsteps crunching so delicately in the chocolate coated ears of his. Somewhat hidden away behind a naked bush, he waited. Though he would not be able to see her until she also saw him, he knew that he was meant to break her bones and eat her heart. There was a whisper in his left ear speaking foreign words that he thought he should be able to understand. His gaze did not shift to take in the teethed form of decay next to him. He could smell the sulphur and knew where the abomination had come from. There was no disgust in his thoughts, for these were his allies; his minions and they led him to bloods platter.

A golden form was revealed and he did not waste a moment as the creature from hell let air whistle through its hollow and ruined throat. He knew how this creature had died because he had been the one to kill it back when it had still been a travelling soul on earth. Blue eyes locked on the female and his dark intention could not possibly be any more obvious than it currently was. Haku Soul intended to take a life tonight.

The further she traveled into the forest the more she saw the beauty of this place. The way the light particles of snow and ice clung to the webs and bare branches made the place seem like some enchanted ice kingdom. Rikka had always loved fairy tales and planned to share the stories with any future offspring that she may give birth to. Unlike many in Inferni she wanted to free children’s minds up to the possibilities of the world and life, not constrict them and form them into little soldiers whose only duty was to fight and survive. That was no way to life in her opinion. Apparently it worked for some, but it did not work for her. There was so much more to life and why you would want to limit your scope so was something she would never understand. After all, she had survived hadn’t she? And she didn’t bear the many scars that so many of her kin did.

Though there were things about some fairy tales that Rikka was forgetting, though unintentionally. Not all fairy tales were nice with happy endings. Some were horribly dark and she had come across those tales on one of her travels. They had been written by a pair of brothers and they were terrifying stories. She had found them intriguing nonetheless, perhaps the words pleasing the darker side of her heritage that was often out of sight and out of mind. Still, the Gimm stories were far from the pale golden hybrid’s mind and she had no idea that if this were a fairy tale, it was one of theirs that she was waltzing into and not one of the more pleasant ones.

Arms were wrapped about her in effort to keep her warm in the chill of the evening. She should have brought a blanket to keep herself warm, but it wasn’t so much of a bother as to make her want to turn back this instant. Her footfalls were light, though stealth was never a consideration of her’s and so she was making no effort to conceal her presence. Another beast could easily find her and little to her knowledge one had. A small, serene smile was upon her lips as she looked about the glistening canopy above her. It was a beautiful sight. Though as her eyes swung back down to the ground they caught two cold gems that had their sights locked upon her. From there she saw the wolf and even to her his intentions were clear. All the warmth suddenly drained from her form and the smile melted away. Rikka stood as still as a frightened deer, a vain hope that he hadn’t seen her. But of course he had. Even now she felt those blue eyes digging into her skin.

Swallowing hard, her heart fluttering, she took a step backwards. Then another. A voice screamed in her head. RUN! Rikka obeyed it as her body was flung into full flight mode. She needed to get out of here and away from that beast. Pure instinctual survival guided her now.

Oh, but her smile had been so very pretty and now it was fleeing from her face faster than she could ever hope to flee from him. Had his face not already been twisted into a silent snarl it would have offered a horrible smile in return for the pretty one that so quickly had faded when she realized his intentions. Stepping backwards would not help her and when she turned to run it was too late and she would not be able to pick up her speed properly before it was too late. Optime was not for fleeing mode, and Secui was optimal for best possible speed. He followed, mind almost playful as a claw lashed out for the woman’s hip. They were so adorable when they started to hurt. He recognized her scent and though it was only fair play to rip a Lykoi relative away from Gabriel when Mew Sadira had been ripped away from Dahlia. This was not retaliation though; it was war and it was in war you were free to kill everything and everyone without guilt.

She was running as fast as she could and her heart was pumping faster in the process, but true fear had yet to grip her. Still Rikka held out hope that she could escape whatever horrible situation she had inadvertently stumbled into. Maybe since she had turned to flee he would let her go, or after a few minutes pursuit would not think her worth the effort and would turn back. Maybe it was all a misunderstanding. He could have been a loner and maybe she had just walked too near to his den and that was why she had been met with such hostility. Her nose hadn't picked up on his scent and even if it had she had no idea what a Dahlian smelt like. She had no idea that while she had been in the city war had been declared because the monster behind her had raped her mother. Rikka had no idea that it was the infamous Haku Soul chasing her heels and that he would not stop. That he would catch her and make her suffer. Hope still reigned in the woman's heart. Or it had, until she felt a claw lash against her back.

The fire and pain from that single stroke made a choked cry come from her throat and now she began to understand. He wasn't going to let her go. He wasn't going to turn away. He was faster on four legs than she could ever hope to be on two, and what she had just felt was only a fraction of the pain that was to come. Then real, true fear gripped her like it does any animal of prey and in a last ditch effort she pushed her body to move faster, to run as quick as she possibly could in this form. Hope was gone from Rikka now though, for deep down she knew that he would catch her despite this effort. She knew she was doomed.

Oh, lookie, he hit! A pleased snarl escaped between jagged fangs that wished they could have been close enough to rip into her and taste, taste that beautiful flesh of hers. While he easily gave into his feral ways, there was more consciousness within the beast now. It was important to make them suffer this time. Gabriel had though he could end it all simple like that, but he was so wrong it was hilarious. Haku would show him; would tear into this woman and hope it was a beloved relative that could give crimson to the Aquila’s golden eyes. Yes, yes, this was what the demon wanted. Horrors reached for him from all directions now – or perhaps they too trailed her and the new scented trail of fresh blood that she left behind as she still continued to run. No, this was not right. She had to crawl and plead for her insignificant life.

It would not take much additional power to truly catch her, but he did not want this to become that easy. He wanted to get more entertainment out of this. She would simply have to do better than this. Again a set of claws slashed out after her. Of course he aimed for the very same spot; hoping to further fill her with pain and perhaps even damage her muscle tissue if it was his day. She would fall and she would plead. They all would. Eventually.

Feel free to have him jump on top of her or whatever to keep her from getting away

The snarl from behind made her chest feel tight and suddenly it was as if she could not breathe right. The oxygen wouldn't reach her lungs. That strong, potent fear, unlike any she had felt before, was suffocating her. She didn't understand why he was doing this. What had she done? She had never seen this wolf before so it was impossible for her to have offended him in any way. Really the whys didn't matter, for he was chasing and attacking her regardless of the reason, but Rikka couldn't help but ask that question. She was a gentle creature, never wanting to do anyone wrong. Her conscience was clean, her karma good, what had caused this to happen? Why did this man want to hurt her? None of it made any sense, and that only increased her panic. He had no reason to attack her but he was doing it anyway, and that was terrifying.

Claws ripped through her skin once again, in the same place, but there were more this time and the pain seared through her. The strike caused her to stumble and while she continued to move forward for a little longer eventually she fell hard to the ground. The taste of her own blood filled her mouth for her lip had split from the impact. Her hip throbbed, blood pouring freely from the large gashes he had inflicted upon her. Pushing herself up her golden eyes shot back, wide with fear, to see him barreling down on top of her. Rikka couldn't find the strength to return to her feet, but her limbs scrambled against the forest floor, claws digging into the earth to pull herself away, still trying to escape the inevitable.

Ugh, couldn't remember where else he was supposed to scar her, so feel free to place his attack wheeeereverrr it was supposed to be :o

He watched her body gracelessly trip and fall towards the hard forest floor. Red danced into the edges of his spectrum as he watched the red liquid pouring freely out from her hip. Soundless laughter shook him gently and he was over her in an instant – pushed her down again and pressed his weight against her gold and silver back. He was not ultimately satisfied, for she had not been the hardest prey he had caught. The large beast resisted the urge to dive into her hip and rip her fresh off her body. She was far from defenseless still and he had all the time in the world to pick her bones free of meat. In a quick move he let his raspy tongue stroke a golden ear and chuckled softly and thought of how to make this worse for her. He could always slowly tear her up. Nothing wrong with some old fashioned slaughter. ”Mmm, you taste just like your mother,” he purred out as he inhaled the scent that held enough of Gabriel and the one eyed woman to make him certain. A Lykoi should not be walking alone these dark times and he would show this lovely woman just why this was. His voice had been like a soft caress in the most delicate of tones, but now his lips withdrew from his worn canines and he struck out again to taste her flesh and rip through fur and skin.

Her attempts to scramble away were soon extinguished as he mercilessly pressed her body to the forest floor, pressing his weight into her and driving the air out of her lungs. Tears stung at her eyes as she clamped the golden orbs shut. She was going to die at the hands of this beast, she knew it. To call out for help didn't even cross her mind. The clan was too far away for anyone to hear, and even if they did, would they care to expend the effort? Rikka wasn't really one of them, a dead weight in the war machine. Death wasn't something that she really feared for she knew that eventually everyone died, but she hadn't expected her end to come in such a violent and horrible manner, filled with fear and pain. The de le Poer didn't give him the satisfaction of sobbing or begging though, her blood was too proud to allow her to indulge in either. Her tears fell silently onto the frozen ground.

The feel of his tongue on her ears was wholly unexpected and wholly unwanted. When he had first held her down her body had gone still, but now it rebelled, shivering against the unnerving lick and trying to squirm free from underneath him. The words made her insides go cold though and once again she froze. Mother? What had he done to Kaena? Whatever it was, it had to have been awful and he was going to do the same or worse to her. That deceivingly soft voice was like poison in her ears. Rikka began to struggle again and just as she did a new wave of pain was crashed down upon her as his teeth sunk into her upper arm. A scream ripped from her throat, full of pain and terror. Her body had never been subjected to such abuse before and every second hurt worse than the last.

alalal, let me know if you want anything changed.

He could almost feel the cold wave that hit the woman and he knew his words hit just where he hoped they would. He grinned triumphantly and dug into the lower part of the woman’s biceps. He would gnaw it clean, but decided to push things still further. All the time in the world – he had to remind himself of this fact. He recalled his night with Svara Thames and shivered in ecstasy. Once again he could ruin a body – only he was persistent on improving. Blood danced into his mouth and made the world sparkle with crimson around him and he twisted his jaws and pulled the arm slowly backwards and heard the loud crack when he abruptly twisted his head and brought the arm with him despite that the bone could not bend. The only solution for the bone was to crack in two and the man let go then, knowing well that he would have to be patient or else shock would get the best of his victim. It was important for the pretty to experience the pain before he went on. Crimson tongue stained his pink muzzle further as he licked his lips greedily. A paw with one fourth of his entire bodyweight crushed down on the broken spot of the woman’s arm that still was bended in its unnatural position. Oh, she would scream.

s'all good! Well, not good, but you know what I mean XD

After her initial scream her mouth clamped shut, her teeth grinding in a feeble attempt to distract her mind from the teeth that were sinking into her flesh and muscle. She didn't know what to expect, except for continued pain. Rikka had no idea really what he would do to her, she only knew that none of it would be pleasant and chances were that she would be dead by the end of it. How long would he drag it out though? The man seemed like a complete sadist so it was doubtful her suffering would end anytime soon. He would probably draw it out until death would seem a release compared to the prolonged agony and suffering. Still, the woman did her best to keep her mind elsewhere, but all those efforts were shattered once the bone of her arm snapped like a twig. Her vision went white and she screamed again. The pain was unbearable now and there was no way to run away from it anymore. Her head slumped against the ground, her breathing quick and shallow and her eyes unfocused.

It seemed impossible to hurt any more, but once again the cruel beast proved her wrong. Strong pressure was applied to her mutilated limb and she cried out, fresh tears springing to her eyes. It was too much. She just wanted to die. Death was the only way to escape the pain.

OMNOMNOM

Haku was a dark shadow no longer able to understand emotion. Usually. He knew he had evolved into a true monster by the sensation that drugged him when terrible things were done. She screamed, filling the air with a thousand weeping echoes revealing her despair. He felt joy and excitement when a normal individual would have found only disgust and terror. He had barely begun the process that eventually would involve tearing her apart alive, and already she screamed so beautifully. They all did eventually, but he had not been forced to make an effort to hear her pain. It was good to be reassured that he did his job well. Right now he loved this woman just as much as he had loved his beautiful, scarred Kaena Lykoi and he struck out for her arm again; aiming for the elbow to prove to the world that it could bend multiple ways.

Word Count: 500+ Halo to the rescue pewpew!

In Character

The rodents had distracted her, though she had finally started off after her wolfish aunt. Her heart felt lighter despite the confrontation with the ones that had wronged her, each in a different way, and now the girl was taking on a new perspective of life. She knew herself well enough by now to know that she could not drastically change into a different position, but that it was very possible to manipulate herself to walk brighter paths by pulling her own strings. Rikka de le Poer and Halo Lykoi had not become immediate friends in any way, but Halo accepted the fact that she had treated the blonde woman wrongly. Despite personality and beliefs Rikka was a member of Inferni and it was required that the Hydra treated her better than she had done. The clan was her family, and this woman was family both by blood and faction.

The screams had merely caused her ears to flicker gently at first as the girl automatically shrugged it off as a prey being devoured by a predator. Their food often screamed before the moment of death, so it was not unusual to hear such sounds. However, as Halo was directly tracing her aunt’s scent and footprints and the screams only increased in strength, the girl realized that this was not a pray’s cry as it sought life. She recognized the twisted version of her aunt’s voice and felt an unreal and until now not experienced coldness seep into her muscles and locking her down. The war was a fact, but Halo had not yet seen its true, ugly face. She had shot her own half-sister in cold blood and it had been difficult enough.

Suddenly the young Lykoi hybrid was running and she did not even realize at first that she was moving swiftly towards the screams of an agonized canine. Her sword was already drawn and followed in her secure hand. Then she saw her aunt and she saw the beast. There was no time for thinking straight thoughts. The sword fell from her hand and dived into the snow blade first and her hands shot to the side where she – thank god- for once had her gun. Her usually lithe fingers felt overly clumsy as she struggled with taking the firearm out of its holster. Her breathing was shallow and the adrenaline was properly kicking in as she finally managed to get the weapon out. Her brain moved slowly, but her hands and fingers knew the weapon well and pushed back the external safety.

She had hit moving targets with ease in the past, but unable to think or force her trembling hands still, she fires three shots from distance at the large beast on top of her father’s sister. Her flattened ears exploded with the loud blasts and she was left with a ringing sound in her ears together with her sped up heartbeat. Her fingers continued to press the trigger, but those three bullets were all she had brought.

pewpewpew!

Rikka had been trapped inside her own body. She felt nothing of the outside world. Heard nothing. Smelled nothing. The only feeling was the pain the brute inflicted upon her prone form. The only thing she heard was the movements of his body and the giving way of her flesh and bones. The only smell that existed was that of her own blood, mingled sickeningly with the beast's own scent. It would be a scent she would never forget, if she somehow survived this ordeal. It would haunt her in the night and she would see those ice cold eyes coming after her again and again. Her throat was raw from her screams and so when she felt him strike at her elbow she did not have the strength to cry out, only a muffled sound of pain came from the wounded woman.

Her senses being as shut down as they were, she didn't hear the approach of another and she did not smell her niece. Rikka hadn't thought that anyone would come for her. She hadn't told anyone where she was going. For all anyone knew she was back in the city, not being subjected to the merciless whims of the madman the whole clan hated. The only thing that finally alerted her to the presence of another were the three resounding bangs that echoed through the forest. The sound made her bleeding body flinch and her heart beat even faster. What had that been? What was happening now? Her eyes were clamped shut, afraid that what she would see would be another horror instead of her savior.

NO OMNOMNOM? D:

Sound exploded – different from the hybrid’s delicious screams. Knives dug into his left shoulder and upper arm and the large secui gave out a surprised roar and turned abruptly to gaze at a hybrid standing at a distance – too far away to have hurt him. Ears flattened against fluffed up chocolate and cream pelt and he understood what had happened. The sensation of liquid dancing down to the earth could easily enchant him, but it was his own and the way the holes in his arm had been inflicted was worrying and he now recognized the object in the girl’s hands. The bullets had dug into skin and flesh and he could feel his body pound together with his heart; pushing nerves over the edge where metal now rested in the flesh. Lips pulled back and he sneered at the newcomer, though stepping off the weak Inferni hybrid. The beast within roared together with the outer, but he backed away now; knowing that metal bullets could do more than merely inflict pain. He could detect a small limp and realized that he actually was hurt. The coppery hybrid with the strange clothing let the gun drop and suddenly had a long blade in her hands – now storming towards him. Deadly flames danced in the Dahlian alpha’s eyes, because this was foul play and unacceptable. He turned and darted in the opposite direction, not at all curious of how it would be to feel the sharp metal dig into his skin. He was not finished, not at all. He would come back.

Time to ask Mel to quickly pop in before we end? :3

In Character

She could feel the black rage burn in her chest. She barely noticed that she had let go of the empty gun and had the sword again in her hand. She watched the large creature turn and stare at her with glowing blue embers in a dead face. She knew who this was – bared her brilliantly white teeth and watched fangs infested with decay return the primitive visual hostility. Her older half brother was every bit of the monster they said he was. Fresh, cool air whistled down into her eager lungs and her mind lost its ability to reason. Haku Soul had to die and she had promised herself that she would punish him for what he had done to her beloved Kaena. A feral snarl pressed out between shut jaws and she charged. Eyes were locked on her target that turned around and ran away with a light limp. The girl cursed herself for not taking the time to aim at the beast properly – though knew better than to linger by her mistakes and looked forward to the final kill instead.

The girl barely stopped by her aunt’s feet to let out the mixture of a coyote’s cry and a wolf’s howl to attract Inferni's members before she stepped over Rikka’s defeated form and continued her pursuit of the chocolate coated secui with the blue embers. There was no way he would get away. She felt blood thirst tease her adrenaline spiked system. Ruby eyes were locked on the brown creature ahead, long limbs pushed harder in the name of speed.

Gabe r here. :] Maybe Rikka can pass out and we can have our follow-up thread Erin?

Even if Gabriel had been much further away, he would have heard Halo’s very wolfish cry as it reached long and far over the dark forests. His ears swiveled to a crown atop his head and recognizing the summon as one desperate and needing, his skin tightened, drawing the fur along his neck and shoulders high, turning his body into a mass of black tipped flame. The Aquila hesitated only long enough to return the call, and then began running. His paws thundered against cold snow and solid ground, barreling the massive coy-wolf towards his niece’s summons. The closer he got, the more doubt rose in his chest. When blood came to his nose, his lips pulled back and his head lowered, turning Gabriel into a charging monster.

Rikka’s scent made iron sink in his stomach, and he saw her body not long after. On the ground, covered in blood, crumpled in a heap. Something in his chest tightened and he found his heart fluttering like a bird. Haku’s scent. Oh if that bastard had…the thought was pushed aside and he came to her, protectively stepping one leg over her body as if to shield her further. He could barely see—his eyes were burning embers and his field of vision had narrowed to two pinpricks. Were he not aware of his sister’s body below him, he might have followed after Halo’s war cry and chased Haku down then and there.

Yay! That sounds perfect! Could you start it when you get the chance? :] 300+

Her attacker let out an angry roar after the three explosions of sound and Rikka's broken body shivered beneath his cruel weight. Something had clearly enraged him and she felt an odd mixture of hope and fear. If he were angry maybe he would just finish her off and not extend her suffering to the lengths he had initially intended. At the current time, such a thing was a welcome prospect. But then, unexpectedly, he stepped off and away from her. Her form tensed, certain that within mere seconds she would feel another strike and more pain, but it didn't come. In fact, she thought she heard sounds of him retreating from the area. Could it be? Was he going to let her live? Too afraid to hold onto such a foolish hope she didn't raise her head until she heard the call beside her. With much effort she raised her eyes just in time to see who she thought was her niece running off. But, why was she leaving? Rikka was hurt, she needed help. The woman was too weak to speak though and so she just slumped back to the ground, defeated.

Pain throbbed through her with every beat of her heart, whose pace was still abnormal. She couldn't move her arm, she knew that much. To try would only bring on another searing agony. Her mind was becoming hazier by the second and she could feel her conscious slipping away. Along with the pain she felt cold, yet she welcomed the other sensation. It was numbing. The hybrid had thought she might live when the beast left, but with no one to care for her she wouldn't survive. Her lifeblood would slowly leak out of her to too great of a degree and she would pass. At least this death would not be so violent as the one she had been facing moments before. She could take solace in that fact.

Faintly, as if through a fog, she heard someone quickly approaching. Her ears twitching and her head rolled to one side, dulled golden eyes looking for the figure. It was dark, and large, and suddenly fear gripped her again. It was him. He was coming back to finish what he had started. She had no strength to move nor any to scream, so she just waited for the pain to be rained down upon her again. The figure approached and her body shook, tail curling up between her legs. The shadow covered her, but it did not attack. Confused, Rikka looked up. It wasn't the wolf standing over her, it was her brother. He had come for her? "G-Gabriel...?" her voice weakly croaked. The use of her voice seemed to expend the last of her power and her eyes rolled back up into her head as her mind finally fell from the waking world and into darkness.
