ooc: She's right on the border

What was war? She understood that there was distaste in the wolves words when they spoke of the coyotes, but why? Night didn't understand the hatred they expressed. Although she hadn't understand their reasoning she could use it to make sense of her run into the crazed coyote women. That women had been so histarical and tense that even Night couldn't just dismiss it.

It was the lack of understanding that drove her to uncover it. She didn't know that she could be getting into a whole shit load of trouble. Night Thames had never been shown the repercautions of her disease, didn't even know she had one. She was inable to feel pain. That was the only reason she didn't understand fear. The only time she had heard of the word had been when Kaena had spewed it out to her.

The sable girl was large for her age, but she was still just a pup. There was no hesitation as she embarked further onto the land. Alexy would be infuriated if she found her wondering farther and farther from Dahlia. The women wanted to take them north away from the pack lands that had caused warmth to spark in the childs chest. It was a kind that made her mouth taste like metal as she bit down on her tounge. Leaving the pack lands wasn't something Night wanted to do, and if she had it her way she would avoid leaving.

The young, simple-minded coyote had only been there for a day, if that, when he had smelled a strange scent nearby. Nala had been standing in front of one of the skulls that lined the borders, staring at it intently as he tried to determine what, exactly, they meant. It seemed that they meant that the wolves had been eaten, causing him to wonder if they had any real food here. He had not gone out looking for anything to eat, as he was not sure where he was allowed to go, but he was not very pleased with the idea that they only ate wolves here. That was gross! It would probably be a good idea for him to ask someone, just incase, because he would need to learn how one actually ate a wolf, if that was the case. It idea was disgusting, but if that was the way that the coyotes lived here, then he would need to learn that trick. He was bound to get hungry sooner or later, and it would probably be sooner, rather than later! He was just that kind of boy.

The smell had caught his attention, surprisingly, and Nala was off at once to find the source of it. It was a foreign smell, something he was not used to at all, and he did not think that was a very good thing. This was a place meant for coyotes, and this smell did not seem like it belonged to a coyote or a member of Inferni. When he found the source, his golden eyes narrowed as he studied the small black canine. “You don’t belong here,” he said excitedly, tail wagging behind him. Thinking of what Anselm had told him upon his acceptance, Nala yapped excitedly, yipping for the hybrid to come to the borders. He could prove that he could do something, and then they could figure out what to do about this young girl! “I’m Nala, who’re you? How come you’re here?” There was a war going on, and even though he did not really understand the concept, it did not seem smart for her to be here, even outside of the borders. The leaders probably would not like it much.

@&#&$Enthusiastic as always, Nala's voice found its way across the territory, down to his ear drums, and into his brain. Anselm paused where he was mid-step, his dark-tipped ears pushing forward and then falling back. His path diverted at once and he set off in a diligent lope. There was no decipherable message behind the yips, though he understood the call to be for him. He couldn't really imagine what might be going on; the call hardly seemed very perturbed or frantic.
@&#&$As he rounded the top of a hill, the wind shifted and he caught their scents just before he could see them. One made him nearly nauseated. Dahlia. Female. Young. Visions and memories of Talitha and Firefly danced before his eyes. He remembered how broken they looked. He hadn't paid it much mind back then, but that was before he'd known Ryan--and Valkyrie. The battlefield was no place for a child.

@&#&$He barrelled on down the hill toward them, temporarily ignoring Nala as his thick, golden fur pricked toward the sky. His tail pointed up to the clouds and he glowered down at the girl, barely caring what (if any) conversation he might have interrupted. "You dumbass fucking kid, you need to get the hell out of here right now!" he exclaimed; it was questionable whether worry or fury drove him more.
@&#&$"You know if anyone else might've found you the vultures would be picking the eyes out of your skull on these sticks?" he added with a snap, advancing pointedly several steps toward her. He had more wolf blood than the rest of them--right now those instincts would make his message to the pup perfectly clear. It was something hard-wired into all of their systems, just as surely as knowing how to breathe.

OOC:bloop bloop

She was a young girl with little understanding of this war, or what it could do to her future. Night had no idea there were repercussions to what she was doing. Her cerulean gaze was indifferent to the terrain she was looking upon. Nothing made any emotions rise in her gut, only this detached sense of being. Unfeeling to so many things, was dangerous to herself and potentially other wolves.

The sound of an animal made the fleece on her spine rise like a tingling of the neck. She’d not heard the sound of a coyote yet in her life, and the resonance made a delicious feeling of excitement lick her young body. Fear was instinctual, something we felt knew and understood. Night didn’t know that there was anything to run from, having never had that learned natural lesson when a pup hurts itself for the first time. So now in this situation of fear, the sable girl only embraced the warmth that this natural reaction caused.

When she saw Nala her tiny body showed little to no reaction other than the hair rising along her spine. His yips and yelled words only made cold azure eyes watch closer with growing interest. His questions were streams of nonsense to her. It was the sound of another animal, this one more wolf looking then the other one.

His vicious features did not intimidate her in the least. Neither her ears nor her facial expression changed position. This male expressed great anger towards her as he shouted profane words Night had used and heard before. Her face staid blank and an urge to back up a step sprang into her paws, she didn’t move. Logically it was fear and natural instincts that drove us to run at this point, but night was missing one of those key points and thus could ignore its call on her.

Her ears were flat as the blank expression on her face remanded stable. His anger had little effect on her, and probably wouldn’t change her position. She had come for a reason and had every intention of fulfilling that task. Looking at the male with the tempter she listened to his last statement and took the time to see the bodies on those fences. It didn’t cause any rise of warmth to see them or intensify the cold in her chest. Night was indifferent to the images of death around her. It had little meaning on a puppy that lacked understand or physical comprehension of what she was viewing.

With her azure eyes still on those fences she spoke up. ”Why do you deserve to die?” That was her simple question, the same one she had asked her pack. Why did they deserve to die? What purpose did it have? Night Thames looked back at the enraged coyote hybrid with that expressionless face. She had come seeking the answer from what her pack had claimed was now her enemy.

It was terribly rude of her not to answer his questions, something that resulted in Nala staring at her blankly, unsure of what to do now that she had rejected any of his attempts at finding out why she was there. He had called for Anselm, of course, and the golden male would surely know what to do about the young wolf at their borders. In the uncomfortable silence that followed his call for Anselm and his own questions to the young girl, the coyote allowed his eyes to settle on the skulls, still finding them to be very discomforting. He was not able to think of why the clan would want to decorate their borders with skulls. . . He couldn't be the only one they creeped out! That was highly unlikely, he was sure.

When Anselm finally arrived, Nala wagged his tail happily, yipping in greeting while the leader went off at the girl, very loudly. His ears flattened against his skull, as he had not anticipated Anselm's reaction and he had not heard anyone yell like that since his brothers. His sisters had been just as cruel, but they were less apt to yell in such a way. Generally, they were the ones who came up with the schemes to do things to him, while his brothers had been the ones to actually implement the actions, cruel laughter ringing in his ears and taunting smiles on their faces. Nala did not like thinking about his siblings, especially when someone else was yelling. It was too much for his simple mind to handle, but at least he was able to distinguish the difference between Anselm and his absent siblings. That was a good thing, anyway, very useful.

Luckily, something pulled his attention away from the awful thoughts of his siblings. Golden eyes glared at the ebony pup as he whined, unhappy with such an accusation. "We do not! Right, Anselm, right?" He turned, as if waiting for an actual confirmation that they did not, in fact, deserve to die. "You aren't supposed to be here!" he repeated, mild distress entering his tone. Nala did not like the girl's way of coming where she wasn't supposed to be and accusing his leader of having the need to die. It did not register in his mind that this could be related to the surrounding war, and he probably would have been more unhappy, in that case.

Powerplay, but I'm not really sure what else would've made sense. Anselm is no fun with trespassers |:

In Character

She barely batted an eye. All of that, and there was no discernible reaction whatsoever. What the fuck? His yelling stopped at once and now he simply glowered. He instantly decided that she was autistic or suffered from some other form of mental retardation--obviously he had no way of knowing about her inability to feel physical pain, but even if he did he'd barely think anything of it. The dance of dominance and submission was preprogrammed into their brains and had nothing to do with fear; it had to do with respect and social perception far more. She was at least one can short of a six pack and for a moment he faltered, unsure of what to do. He then exhaled in a rough snort through his nose, hackles pricking as she had the audacity to ask him a question. His blood red eyes trailed back over his shoulder to peer at Nala in the background then back to the girl.

Here he advanced several steps and reached out with his teeth for the thick fur on the back of her neck. Though he applied nowhere near enough pressure to break the skin or draw blood, he used enough force to pull her down, using his own weight to bowl her over. Regardless of what her deal was, she should have still been able to comprehend his message. He placed one large, clawed paw over her chest and glared at her in the eye. Where before he'd exclaimed in fiery passion, here the words were delivered ice cold. It seems you're a little confused. If anyone here is asking questions, it's me, he stated evenly before continuing. That said, I don't care if you're stupid or suicidal, you will be leaving now. And you know how I know that? he queried, barely pausing long enough for her to consider. Because when I let you up, you're either going to march your ass right on out of here or I'm going to drag you back to Dahlia myself.

Only now did he release the pressure from her belly and take a step back, but only one. He made a point of staying all up in her personal space, hoping it would make her uncomfortable and wish to leave. There was an easy way and a hard way to everything and presently he had a strong hunch which way this would go. Her ignorance and disrespect for any sort of authority was as clear and as transparent as day, and he had a feeling her attitude would prove largely predictable. Even if it went that route, though, she wasn't old enough to shift yet and it'd be trivial for him to haul her off away from the border. He certainly wasn't intending to take her the whole way of course--though he had half a mind to call for Kol or Lolita supposing he got there. They really had to keep better track of this shit.
