Arachnea's Revenge. 300+

He'd told her to meet him at the edge of Arachnea's revenge, just before the forest began to thicken. He was so thrilled that he could not stay still, his fingers entangling in the horse's coarse, wavy main and his foot swinging against the animal's flank. He was so giddy with excitement, so happy that he was about to do something wonderful for her. Kansas had always imagined whisking her away from what so drained her, just for a little while. In his mind, he didn't refer to this as the pack, because he and every other Dreamer knew she loved it with all her heart. He meant the other things; the trouble with her siblings, the worry he saw in her eyes that he wasn't even able to explain adequately. She deserved to leave it all behind, and he was proud to be the one who could do that for her.

His bag held many things and strained heavily against his shoulder. He took it off and let it rest between himself and the horse's neck. Inside the black bag were items that he'd never carried before, but that might hopefully help them enjoy themselves to the umpteenth degree. Indeed, the boy was nervous, but only to see his raven's reaction to the surprises he had for her. And it went without saying that the horse on whose back he was mounted was the greatest of these. Strange though riding a large beast felt, Kansas was extremely enthralled to own one. He couldn't wait to sweep her off her feet and ride into the forest with her sitting behind him like the princess she was. There was more; he'd save it for when they'd reached the destination he'd carefully selected for them.

He was not completely certain of how long they'd be gone; not too long before life beckoned them home. The only important thing to him was that they would be there together, if only for a little while.

Eeeeee! Excitement! Big Grin Gonna go ahead and mark it as mature ;3 423

When he had asked her to meet him at the edge of the forest a strong curiosity had been sparked in her. It had taken a great deal of restraint to keep herself from pestering him, questioning as to what it was he had in store. It was clear though that he wanted it to be a surprise and she wanted it to be one too. A smile was plastered on her face as her four paws carried her out of Crimson Dreams' territory and out into the neutral lands. For the moment, the shadow the war had cast over everyone was gone. Not even the cold temperatures or the slight flurries that danced through the air could dampen her mood. She was going to meet her love and see what it was that he had prepared for them. The further she went the more the excitement stirred in her chest and her legs picked up the pace, unable to wait any longer than she had to. The faster she moved the sooner she would find out. Within seconds she had progressed into a full out run, her tongue hanging out of her mouth.

At the pace she had jumped in to it did not take her long until the faintness of Kansas' scent reached her nose. Savina slowed, panting, her breath making small clouds in the air before her face. When she came to a stop she let her body slip into the change that would take her into her bipedal form. Reopening her jeweled eyes she stood up on two feet and returned to her quick pace to reach her mate, her heart beating quickly both from her exertion and from the excitement that was bubbling inside. The forest began and the Dreamer dodged through the trees, her gaze peeled for the sight of her beloved, her nose leading the way. There was another scent that was close to his, but it was unlike anything she had smelled before. It didn't take long for her to see what it belonged to though. She caught a glimpse of his pristine fur, though it was much higher than she had expected.

Her white knight truly looked the part now, seated so majestically on the back of a massive steed. Savina gaped at him, her eyes sparkling with wonder. "Kansas!" she exclaimed, her voice ringing. Slowly she walked closer, her eyes scanning over the large hoofed beast. "This is amazing!" The Italian looked up to his blue eyes, his goal of surprise completely accomplished.

I'm super excited! also, horse! 300+

Oddly, Kansas had been successful in keeping his own word. He had managed not to leak anything to her even though he saw in her eyes that she wanted him to. This adventure had to be a complete surprise to her. Anu had given him the idea, but he'd decided to adjust it to add the excitement of the unknown. Every time he'd been at the edge of telling her what he had in store, he'd pictured her face when she saw him and Lexington, the blue roan stallion he now perched rather awkwardly upon. Ever since she'd called him her White Knight, he'd held this image of himself within mind, and that he was living it in its entirety was almost too wonderful for him to handle. And there was more, of course, than simply his own glorification in greeting her with the stallion. It was the time they would spend together when they had reached their destination.

The tall brute leaned forward on the horse, who was standing very obediently still, tolerating the fidgeting rider perched upon his back. The pale blue eyes of the werewolf darted to and fro as his hands continued to pester Lexington's blue-gray mane. After what seemed like weeks, her slender form rose to meet his eager gaze. As she drew closer and began to make sense of what lay before her, the resulting surprise sent his heart aflutter. He was warm from his toes to his face although the temperature lingered around freezing. Her emerald eyes positively sparkled, radiant in their wonder and happiness. Kansas beamed. Her reaction was everything and more that he'd wanted it to be.

For a moment he really couldn't speak. He felt abashed with his pride. "I'm glad," he finally said, and slipped smoothly off the horse's sturdy back. He had many more things he wanted to say, but doing so would erase the magic of the moment. Kansas wrapped his arms around her waist and looked down at her, giving her a kiss. Then, with a mischievous laugh, the boy swept her up into his arms and held her like a princess. He swung her around and placed her on the horse's back. Fortunately, Lexington didn't seem to mind the sudden motion. Savina was so slight that the beast probably barely felt anything. "Sorry about that; I had to," he informed her, still grinning. Kansas grasped the horse's mane and pulled himself up to sit in front of her. "Are you ready, beautiful Signora?" he queried as he turned the horse to face the forest.

Ooooo! Lexington is very pretty! :o And I have to tell you your reply was fantabulous <3 484

She knew that it must have been hard to keep his plans a secret. It was always hard to keep things to yourself when you were so excited to give or show them to the person you wanted to surprise. When she had found that Shakespeare book in the city for him it was a good thing that she had given it to him right when she arrived home because she wouldn't have been able to keep it a secret any longer. Making him happy was one of her primary joys in life and she knew that the same could be said of him, so she was impressed with the self control he had exercised in this situation. Kansas didn't think himself to be a strong individual, and yet over and over he proved the exact opposite to her. Perhaps not a physical strength, but a mental and emotional strength and those, to her, were to be much more highly valued and praised.

Even Savina couldn't say what she might have expected to see when she got here, but it certainly wasn't the stunning sight that her eyes drank in so eagerly. The beast was huge and so magnificent in his gray and black body and long mane. It seemed like something that had ridden out of the very mists of legend. And there, sitting on top in stark contrast was her mate. Now, whenever she called him her White Knight this would be the picture that flashed before her eyes. She could almost see the bright armor adorning his body, her imagination taking the sight to new heights. Now she was just as glad that he had kept this all secret. It would not have been nearly as amazing if she had had any hints of knowledge to try and figure it out.

A large, wondrous smile was plastered on her features and she knew that nothing would be making it go away anytime soon. Her love dismounted his steed so gracefully and approached her. Savina was glad that neither of them felt the need to spoil the magic of the moment with words. This was a thing to simply be felt and appreciated. As she felt his arms around her she melted into him, her own arms draping around his neck. She beamed up at him and the kiss made little fireworks explode inside her. There was no moment more perfect than this. As Kansas suddenly swept her up she couldn't help but laugh merrily herself. Then, just as quickly, she was astride the large horse. It was a little disorienting, but she was far too excited to care. "There is nothing for you to apologize for, my love." He hopped back up in front of her and her arms encircled his torso, holding herself close. "I'd follow you anywhere, handsome Signore." She couldn't wait to go on this adventure with him.

aw, thank you! <3 that totally made my day. 300+

Savina made him happy in so many ways; more, perhaps, than he told her. Every day she surprised him with her beauty, with her strength and courage in being the leader of a large pack of wolves. She surprised him as a mother; the way she so deftly cared for their children was something he'd never expected, but that he appreciated with all his heart. Foremost, she surprised him with her undying loyalty to a goof such as he was. Kansas could have written novels of the things she did for him; it would forever surprise him how near to perfect she had brought his life. He could put aside the concern and insecurity that plagued him only when she was close to him. When he could see her breathing, and look into the stunning mystery of her eyes.

So, he felt he owed her this. Rather theatrical, it was, but that was the point. He wanted her to see that he, too, could pull tricks from his sleeve; and for once, he was confident. She'd made him that way merely by her reaction. He only wished he could see exactly what was going on in her sharp mind; what thoughts she was having about him. It had been a challenge just to push her from his arms onto Lexington's back, because she felt so right there, cradled against him. They had time for that, though. He just needed to take her to where they'd share their getaway, and then the magic would truly begin. Her laughter lit a fire inside him, and his grin was concealed by his body in front of her.

Her arms so warm around his waist sent another rush through his body, brought on by the reality of what they were doing. She held him, trusted him, atop the steed, to take her to a beautiful place. "Really now?" he asked in his soft way. His voice held a teasing tone, but what she she'd spoken made the fire burn brighter. She never seemed to say anything wrong; there was a sweet music about her words. He softly tapped the horse's ribs with his heels and the beast started steadily into the snowy forest. His hooves stirred snow and dead leaves, adding the sound of whispered movement as they rode deeper into Arachnea's Revenge. In front of him, resting against the horse's neck, Kansas' old satchel jangled with its questionable contents. He readjusted it so that it would not make so much noise. "His name is Lexington. I hope you don't mind that he'll be joining us," Kansas rested one hand on her arm, the other grasping the dark mane. He sped their pace just a tad. "Are you doing all right, baby? We're getting close."

you're welcome ^^ <3 553

Savina had never imagined to find someone that would adore her, and someone who she could adore in return. Back in Monti Sabini she had been ignored. An outcast of the pack in all but the fact that she was actually allowed to live within their lands. No men there had ever looked at her, for she would not have made an acceptable choice of mate. She had been below them. Even if they had taken an interest in her though it was doubtful that she could have reciprocated their attraction. They were all too much like Serge, completely absorbed with their status and their own personal gain. They did things only for themselves, not for others. Sadly, she had figured that most males were like that and had resigned herself to the idea of being on her own, no matter how much her heart yearned for love. When she had met Kansas though, it seemed as if immediately she had recognized him as her counterpart. There had been no questions, no concerns, only the knowledge that they were meant to be together.

Even if she did not see him in this light, she knew that he did not see himself as confident or worthy, and so she worked every day to make him see that he was worthy and that she thought that he was exactly that. Kansas was so much more than he gave himself credit for. He was a wonderful, gentle soul. He was a kind and loving father. He was smart and knowledgeable. The Sadira had one of the biggest hearts that she had ever seen. No matter what, he would always be a hero in her eyes and that was exactly what she saw now. Her knight in shining armor come to whisk her away on some grand adventure. Excitement pulsed through her at the thought of them being completely alone together. Not in the pack lands, but out in unclaimed territory with no responsibilities and no duties to perform. Just the two of them and their love.

Savina rubbed her cheek against his back, breathing in deeply the scent she knew by heart. "Yes, really," she teased right back at him. Then the horse began to move and her arms squeezed him tighter out of surprise. It was an odd sensation to be moving without actually doing any of the movement yourself and it served to heighten her sense of wonder. Sable ears picked up the clinking noises, but she didn't bother to ask, not wanting to ruin any other surprises he might have in store. "No, I don't mind at all. This is nice." Sometime she would ask him where he had acquired Lexington, but not right now. It wasn't important for this moment. His hand on her arm filled her with warmth and she grinned against his back. "I'm more than alright." Curious as to the destination her eyes began to search the woods for something interesting. Within seconds she had spotted it. A blue gem was settled in the darkness of the woods, a lake, the water unlike anything she had ever seen. Savina craned her neck to brush her nose against the back of his neck. "You really have taken me away into a fairy tale, haven't you?" she said softly to him.

He knew only what she'd told him of her past, but it was enough to unsettle him. Kansas was just a little disturbed by it because he was aware that she thought men had never looked at her with hunger in their eyes, and though he had not been in Italy with her, he knew otherwise. She was too strikingly beautiful for the eyes of lonely werewolves to simply pass by. There was something exotic and innately alluring about Savina, not just in her outward beauty (blinding enough as it was), but in the air around her. Several times throughout their time as mates, Kansas could have sworn he saw the sky brighten as soon as she entered his line of sight. That she didn't realize this, or, to give credit to her now, hadn't realized it during her time in Italy, worried him. Someone could have so easily taken advantage of her.

But the pale boy didn't wish to waste time thinking about something so terrible. She was with him now; he'd spent his first two years in a void that lacked meaning. All of it lead up to her. That was all he needed. And when he considered his own progress since they had been together, he was nearly incredulous. During his childhood and adolescence, the boy had positively hated everything about himself. And then she came along. Now he'd moved past hatred and saw reason and value in himself and in his life. He rarely stuttered anymore. It was all the best gift anyone had or would ever give him.

Her tightened grip around his lean waist warmed him in that way her hands always managed to do, because she was counting on him for something: to keep her steady on the horse's back. Odd, how riding Lexington seemed so much better with Savina right behind him, holding on. He felt his confidence in his riding skill swell; he had more purpose in being on the immense slate beast. "Good," he returned happily. He'd been concerned that she wouldn't feel comfortable riding Lexington. He felt no need to explain to her how he'd acquired the stallion just now, either; that could be saved for later. He actually liked leaving her in the mystery.

As they neared the lake, he sensed her eyes searching, and she spoke as the blue jewel came into sight. Again he was enthralled by her ability to always say the perfect thing. He grinned with pleasure and brought the horse past the line of trees, to the secluded shore of the lake. It sparkled, cold and majestic, a crystal ring of ice encircling it up to the bank. "Only for you." Kansas took his satchel and swung deftly off the horse, placing it on the ground a few feet away. He rested one hand against the horse's nape, the other reaching open for Savina to take. "Just sit sideways, and I'll help you down." His smile was now of happiness and excitement for what was in store.

She didn't know much about his past, and perhaps that was a little odd for mates of over a year, but it seemed the past was somewhat irrelevant to them. Not that it didn't matter, for the past shaped who one was, but the present did that as well and they had both grown tremendously since being together. Both had gained confidence and the knowledge that if all else fell apart, they would always have at least one other soul that they could count on being there for them. If it hadn't been for Kansas and their children, Savina wasn't sure if she could have made it through what had happened with her brother recently. It was the thought of them that had brought her back from the brink of self destruction. It had been a selfish moment for her, thinking that her pain was too great to bear. How could she have even entertained the idea of tearing herself away from him? It seemed so foolish to her now, that she could have even temporarily been so blinded. Their souls were bound together and she would never do anything to undo that stitching.

There was a marvelous feeling of weightlessness that descended over her as they road through the snowy forest. There was no roughness to the horse's gait. It was like he was simply floating over the ground like a dark smoke, carrying the duo-toned lovers with him. If it weren't for the excitement coursing through her veins Savina could have easily fallen asleep like this, arms clasped around her mate's waist. It truly felt like she had wondered into some dream world where all the worry and concern had been sucked out of her life. It felt, aside from their mount, that they were the only two beings in the world. Her friends and her pack meant the world to her, but to be in such communion with her man was pure bliss for now and she was content to let everything else slip from her mind. As far as she were concerned, they were the only two beings for now. Until they returned home, the world was theirs and theirs alone.

The place he head found was wonderful and she hadn't any idea that it existed at all. She had never seen waters so blue and glowing, not even in her beloved ocean. The woman also know, no matter how much she loved spring and summer, the picture of this place outside of winter would not nearly be as breathtaking as it was now. In the muted world of winter the lake beamed all the brighter and even seemed to cast it's hue on the whole area around it. It reminded her of his eyes, those bright pools shining out from his pale face. At his response her lips kissed his neck before he swung down off of Lexington with his pack. For a moment Savina felt exposed up there on the stallion, but soon he returned to help her down and her eyes glittered at him lovingly. Her slender hand took his and she carefully moved her other leg over the horse's back so she was facing Kansas and began to slide her weight towards the ground.

Kansas saw it as a good thing that they didn't know each and every detail of one anothers' lives prior to their mate ship. Though it warranted only a small element of relationships, needless pity never formed false affection between them. He felt as if their love was so pure, never spurious. They knew only the most important things about their pasts: his mistake with Lucifer and Naniko, her problem with her anger. And they accepted those things without using them against each other. He'd never brought up the screwed-up parts of his history for the sake of getting pity and forced comfort from her, and he was certain she'd never done that to him, either. They weren't without fault; nevertheless, they loved each other. Kansas never thought he'd have something so wonderful in his life.

He too felt the calm of the atmosphere around them. Her arms warm around his waist were perfect there, and despite the cold he was entirely comfortable. He was proud to be carrying her on horseback into their own wonderland. He sensed that she was just as content as he was, that the worries and trials of her rampant life were slipping away for the time being. And that had been his purpose. He didn't know how he was going to thank Anu upon their return. He only wished that the happiness he sensed in Savina could carry on within her when they returned to the real world. It seemed too much to desire.

Her lips against his neck sent a warm fluttering of butterfly wings through his entire body, so that he was almost clumsy as he helped her down from the horse. But he didn't dare allow her to fall; she slipped easily to the ground, and he couldn't keep himself from wrapping his arms around her in a gentle embrace. He pulled away and kissed her cheek, a bright smile on his pale face. She always replaced his twisted anxiety with happiness. She was his breath of air. "I'll get a fire going." Kansas reluctantly stepped away from her and pulled a few blankets from his bag to get at his matches. He also took out some old paper and dried sticks as starters, then set to gathering dry wood. He didn't have to go far to find some; there was surprisingly plenty within a reasonable distance of where Lexington stood. He arranged the wood and kindling, deftly flicking and lighting a match, and in no time there was a blazing fire. Kansas stood and got the blankets unfolded, making a soft place for her to sit down. The pale werewolf strode toward her, feeling that much better now that their time could start. The golden flames were bright in the dark of the coming evening, casting her eyes and swarthy fur in their glow. "You are so beautiful," it was something he repeated very often, but always his voice held an intonation of awe when he said it. He took her hand to lead her to the fire.

There were times where she thought about how her life would have been different if her mother hadn't died in that tragic accident. That had been one of the most horrific events of her life and had set everything after it into motion. She had loved her mother with all of her being and to lose her so shockingly and suddenly had rent the girl asunder. By that time Ehno had left Monti Sabini and Ghita had fled after her miscarriage so she had had no family to turn to for comfort. Her pathetic excuse for a father had tried, but it had only made things worse. Savina had wanted nothing from him and for him to try and come into her life at that moment had been a horrible mistake on his part. Still, if none of that had happened, she probably would still be living back in Italy. She would have never left her place of birth, would have never gotten on that ship and would have never ended up here and met Kansas. The Marino could never be happy or thankful for her mother's fate, but it almost felt that Amata had not only sacrificed herself to save her daughter's physical being but her entire future. She felt that her mother was still watching over her from the heavens and she hoped that she was proud of her girl.

Savina too wished that this sense of serenity would follow them back home, but she wasn't sure if that could be. If not for the war it might be possible, but until that conflict was over and buried then she would always be concerned about that dark shadow looming on the horizon. Thankfully Crimson Dreams was pretty well removed from the conflict but until Haku was deposed from his ill bought throne they would have cause for concern. The woman would do everything in her power to keep her home and family safe, but they were not warriors. Of course they could all fight to a degree, and would to protect their home and friends, but compared to the battle-hardened Dahlians she didn't know if their determination and solidarity would be enough. She prayed they were never tested in such a way.

Her slight form slipped easily from the back of the stallion and within moments she was in his arms again. Warm contentment filled her to the brim and she nuzzled into that embrace before he stepped back. He kissed her and her tail wagged happily as she also felt those fluttering butterflies inside of her. It reminded her of the first time they met and leaned against one another on the porch of the mansion. "Okay," she said as he quickly moved to complete his task. As he dug through his pack and rounded up the wood she looked over Lexington, her hand gently running over his strong neck. What a magnificent beast, she couldn't help but think. Soon she could hear the crackling flames and she looked back over just in time for him to come over and take her hand. His words made her ears dip back demurely, her cheeks reddening beneath midnight fur. No matter how many times he told her that it always sounded wonderful. Savina followed her knight to the nice fire he had build for them and seated herself on the blankets he had arranged. Looking up at him her heart beat with all the love she held for him. "Thank you so much, il mio amore. This is so...perfect." There was no other way to describe it.

was be bringing booze and pot? or just booze? Tongue 500+

He knew he could not hope to make her forget the sorrow of her past; again, he was aware of only areas of her life before Nova Scotia. As it was, however, they were enough to make him wish he could erase them, or at least whatever sadness that lingered within her. But he couldn't do so, just as Savina, in all her wonder and beauty, could never make him forget the death of Icarus, the abandonment of his mother and Phoenix. All they could do was attempt to complete each others' lives as much as they possibly could. And he thought they both did this well. He wanted to be available for whatever she asked of him, especially now when the wolves of the region were in the midst of war. Perhaps she would want to lean a bit of her weight against him, and he would gladly let her, for as long as she wanted. When they returned, he wanted to maintain the strength he felt tonight, for her. He didn't want to fall back into his passive ways.

He beamed when he felt her soft face in his chest, and he would have loved to hold her there forever. But they had all night, and he didn't plan to let her leave his arms for long. He was aware of her standing quietly beside Lexington while he worked. He was so glad she liked the beast, that it didn't frighten her. Kansas was so shocked by how well everything was falling into place.

Pulling the strap of his satchel toward him, he sat down beside her, pale face aglow in the dancing color of the fire. He draped an arm around her narrow shoulders, leaning his face toward her as she spoke her thanks. He didn't know why, but her gratitude had sparked a shyness in him. In his mind, the Sadira had never done something this big for his mate. He didn't quite know how to handle the ease and smoothness with which this night had fallen into place. "You don't need to thank me, love. You deserve this," he returned quietly, nuzzling into the crook of her neck with his nose. He pulled away and looked into those startling eyes, the eyes that sent his mind spinning. There was one more hurdle, the one he was most anxious about. He turned and pulled his bag closer to them, baby blue eyes flickering back to meet her gaze once more. "I brought some... things... for us. I thought they might... relax us more," he explained carefully. He lost eye contact with her, abashed, but restored it quickly. "I know how you feel about substances," here he thought of Cambria and inwardly cringed, "And I feel the same. I brought them because it's just you and me, but we don't have to, if it would make you uncomfortable. " He was entirely sincere. He didn't need booze to have fun with her; he just thought it might help get their minds off reality.

Hmmm, maybe just booze. With the current mood of the thread I think both would be too much, but some wine would be just perfect! Big Grin 598

There was nothing that either of them could do to undo the wrongs and tragedies that had already befallen them. Nothing could erase the pain of her mother's tragic death or the actions of Serge (or rather, his lack of actions). She could do nothing to make all of the bad things that had happened to him disappear, no matter how badly she might wish she could. Some things would come and knock them both down on occasion, but as long as she had him she would do her best not to dwell on what was wrong. The woman had slipped in that with the advent of everything that had been going on with her siblings, but she made a promise to herself and to him that she would do all in her power to avoid falling so deep into depression again. Kansas loved her with all his heart, she knew, and she was so lucky to have him. Not only that, but they had three beautiful children together. Savina was blessed but with all the drama she had lost track of that fact. She wouldn't let herself forget it again.

Savina would be content to never leave his arms, to always be cradled against his body and to share their warmth. Before him she had always been a fairly independent wolf and she still was to a degree, but she didn't mind being dependent on him. She would never wish for them to lose their own identities, but there was nothing wrong with wanting to be as close as they possibly could be. The time they were able to spend with one another meant so much to her and their current removal from their home made that feeling more acute. There would be no interruptions out here. It was just them, for as long as they wished to stay. The thought of them taking some time away for themselves had crossed her mind before, but she had felt a certain amount of guilt at leaving Crimson Dreams even for a time. The Italian fey didn't feel that now though. Perhaps it was because it had been at Kansas' inclination and not her own, or maybe it was because this was too wonderful to think about not doing now. Either way, she was elated to be out here with him.

As he sat beside her and wrapped his arm about her shoulders she instinctively leaned into him, resting some of her weight on his frame. The feel of his nose against her neck made her eyes close in heavenly contentment. It had been a long time since she had felt so completely and utterly at peace. It wasn't like when she had smoked that herb with Anselm. That had been nice too, but the presence and close proximity of her mate had a profound effect upon her. He was the only drug that she needed and she was gladly addicted to him. Savina nearly whined in complaint when he pulled away, but it seemed that his surprises where not over with yet and so she listened attentively, staring into his crystalline blue eyes. At the mention of substances she became mildly uneasy, immediately thinking of the powder that had caused their daughter so much harm. This was Kansas though, and he wouldn't have brought anything dangerous along. She knew that his words were completely sincere and the thought behind him bringing whatever it was along with him had been pure. "Maybe...what did you bring?" She trusted him, but she wanted to know what it was before she decided.

SHITPOST and yes, just wine sounds way more reasonable. i'd be just wrong for him to whip out a baggy of MJ as well. 300+

Perhaps it was shallow of him, or something like it, but he felt important in this moment. He felt important, strong, and dependable, things he never would have felt if not for her. He had proven that he could be an important and dependable boy to her, and he knew for certain that she considered him both things. It didn't matter much what others thought; his main concern was what she thought, how she saw him. And her slight body against his taller, stronger one helped him feel pretty good too, admittedly. Kansas was proud, but he wasn't vain; the pride he felt came from his heart and hers, and such sacred things shouldn't be exploited. Her presence in his life kept him confident enough to function, but at the same time, it prevented him from becoming consumed by selfishness, greed and vanity. Loving her left no possibility of that.

Kansas definitely didn't like being completely inebriated. On that night with Naniko and Lucifer, he'd been fucked up beyond all recognition, the stupidest he'd ever seen himself or any other individual, for that matter. He never wished to behave like that again; which was why he'd watched himself carefully both times he'd smoked pot to ensure that his mind remained intact. And it was also why he hadn't brought much wine. He couldn't imagine acting like an idiot in front of Savina. Kansas was happy to hear the hesitation in her voice; it meant she was as careful as he was. He wouldn't have liked it if she'd lost herself to the idea of getting messed up as soon as he'd mentioned it.

He pulled out the bottle of wine. "This," he said, presenting it comically. "I think it should be pretty good," when honestly, he didn't know the first thing about wine. The label was neat and attractive, and the wine was well-aged: these were his only indicators. He reached in his bag for two glasses he'd wrapped carefully in some paper as well as his sweater. They were chipped and old, but they sparkled in the firelight. He blushed, cursing his pale fur as he felt his face warm. "I wanted to... to make this r-romantic for you. But again, we don't have to." He smiled a little, trying to illustrate his indifference one way or the other. Whatever she decided he would be completely fine with.

Psh, Killi posts are never shitposts. Lol yeah, fer sure XD they'll get a nice buzz and then ONTO THE BABYMAKING! 529

It would have filled her heart to the bursting point if she knew how much she did for him. It had been a constant thought of her's to make him see the good in him, because when they had met it hadn't seemed like he had seen any of it. It had boggled her mind, because she had seen it so easily. Then again though, she was prone to do the same thing with herself. It had been more isolated to her specific relations with males, but she also would greatly downplay her appearance and other attributes. She didn't think she was anything all that special or amazing. Humbleness was a virtue, but at times the Marino took it to an extreme, and Kansas did as well. However, as with so many other aspects of their lives, they balanced each other out. They were able to make the other one see in themselves what they couldn't see on their own. Alone they had both felt as if they were somehow worth less than they really were. Some may have thought it sad, that they hadn't been able to feel validated on their own, but to Savina it was just more evidence of how right for each other they were. They were both still their own individual person, being with one another just enhanced them, and why would anyone think that wrong?

The only time Savina had partaken of any kind of altering substance had been the marijuana with Anselm, and even then she had been hesitant. If it hadn't been for the stressful and trying time she had just been through chances were she wouldn't have tried it at all. Circumstances being what they were though she had taken the chance and she didn't feel she had done anything wrong. It had helped her to relax and she had just had some fun with her friend. It wasn't a habit though, and she didn't intend to make it one. Savina preferred to have all her wits about her but letting loose everyone once in a while wouldn't do any harm, especially not in the presence of people that she trusted.

Kansas pulled out a long necked bottle from his bag, displaying it to her. Ah, so it was alcohol. They had made a promise to one another to never drink, but this situation was special. It was just the two of them, alone in the woods. The promise had been made to keep them from making bad decisions while under the liquid's influence, but there weren't any bad decisions they could make with one another. Besides, a little bit couldn't possibly be harmful to either of them. Her beloved's blushing and stuttered words cinched the deal for her. Her smile returned in full force as she leaned close to kiss him on the cheek. "Ah, my Romeo," she said airily, remembering one of the plays from the book she had found for him. Emeralds looked back down to the bottle and glasses. "I don't see any harm in it. It's just us, and this is a special occasion." Tonight was about escaping, and a little wine would certainly help.

If he was to be honestly, he'd have to admit to himself that for a short while he'd considered his need for her pathetic. Why couldn't he just love himself on his own, like Firefly seemed to? But the question meant nothing to him now. He did love himself on his own, he just needed her help to get there. It was like learning to read. He needed someone to teach him, and now that he knew, he did it on his own all the time. He thought it must be the same for Savina, or else she would not have been able to get through the rough spots of the past year. Strength came from inside, not from someone else; others simply helped where they could.

He would not allow their night together to turn out badly. So he wasn't worried about it. He didn't actually know what her response would be; he hoped she wouldn't be angry with him, and when he looked at her face he found no such emotion there. This relieved him; more so, even, than when she accepted his little proposal. Kansas grinned and planted a kiss on her pretty cheek. "It'll be fine," he assured her, and meant it. He wouldn't have said so if he didn't believe it himself, and surely there would have been an intonation of regret and hesitancy in his voice. But there was only relaxed gaiety.

The boy fished a knife from his bag (thank God he'd remembered to grab one), drove the tip of the blade into the cork, and pulled it awkwardly out with a nice pop. "Uh...Oh," grabbing one of the crystal glasses and giving to to her. "For you, miss Juliet," he teased softly. He poured first a glassful for her, then one for himself. Looking into her eyes as he drank, he noticed not the sickly sweet flavor and only the beauty of the sparkling jewels. He felt his head spin, and it wasn't the alcohol. He poured himself another glass. "How is it?"

Thoughts drifted momentarily to their three beautiful children. They had grown up so fast it seemed like. They were on the cusp of becoming full fledged adults and she would have been lying if she said it didn't make her a little sad. Of course she was proud of them, so very proud of the wolves they were growing up to be, but she was struggling a bit to keep up with the change. It seemed to the mother that they had shot up nearly overnight. There was still mental and emotional growing for them to do, but they now wore the bodies of grown wolves and yet she remembered the day they had been born as if yesterday. Their tiny, squirming bodies huddled against her belly for food and warmth. She hoped that each of them were able to find a love like she shared with their father. They deserved nothing less. The woman also hoped that they would be lucky enough to find it on their first try, for seeing her childrens' hearts broken would surely break her own. As any mother, she wanted only the best for them, and she knew Kansas did as well.

Even if she had decided not to indulge in the wine he had brought along she wouldn't have been mad at him for a second. If it had been anyone else suggesting it she might have possibly been a little miffed, but she knew that he was only trying to make this evening as special as he could. Savina wondered how long he had been planning and putting this together. In her mind she could almost see him searching the forest for this exact spot, painstakingly working to make everything as perfect as he could manage. Well, he had managed amazingly and the Italian fey had never been met with such a wonderful and heartfelt surprise. "I think it'll be more than fine," she said with a bright smile. She couldn't see any way that tonight could be diminished. She was on cloud nine thanks to him.

Savina watched with interest as he carefully uncorked the bottle and poured her a glass. "Mmmm, why thank you signore." Her eyes watched as she swirled the liquid in the glass before bringing it up to her lips. She had never partaken of wine, or any alcohol for that matter, but she noticed all the subtitles of the flavor. Perhaps, being Italian (even a wolf) lead to an innate appreciation of vino. After the initial taste she let the rest of it slide down her throat and felt as it almost instantly warmed her stomach. "It's good, you chose well." Savina extended her glass towards him so he could pour her some more, her emeralds locking into his sapphires. She felt that all too familiar fluttering of her heart as she looked into his eyes and a contented sigh escaped her lungs. "I don't think I'll ever be able to tell you how much I love you." It was a love too great for words, even for any one action, though there was one that came close. Her slender form leaned in closer to his, sable and cream fur interlocking where they touched.

Kansas was both shocked and made proud by his children, as well. None of them had disappointed him by the wolves they'd become; her cherished everything about all three of them. They weren't perfect, but to him, they may as well have been. It was given that they would take a few wrong turns; he only wished that they would not make the same sorts of mistakes he had as a young adult, and kept themselves in the company of wolves who would help guide them into a healthy adulthood. Kansas often had trouble thinking about letting them go in such a way, but he knew he'd have to. It would be exciting to see where Gotham, Amata, and Cambria took their lives; but it had also been fun, parenting little ones.

Kansas had thought deeply about where he would take Savina. Since Anu's suggestion, planning their getaway was fairly the only thing on his mind; it had in all honesty become an obsession. Hopefully, however, it would pay off. He wanted her to go home feeling refreshed and rested, and he planned on assisting her in more ways than one. Kansas had, on the way to the edge of the forest, wondered if Savina would find his efforts kind of contrived, but now he wasn't so worried about that anymore. If she began to think this way, he'd pick up on it, and he hadn't yet. Her cheerful response reinforced his worry-free attitude, in itself an extremely rare way for Kansas to be.

He couldn't stop smiling, like a teenage boy with a crush. He tipped the neck of the bottle, pouring her a hearty glass. The wine was warming him from the inside out, and whatever chill lingered around him vanished. It was the flawless combination of the wine, the fire, and Savina, though he wished she were closer. As they drank she leaned closer to him, and he felt the warmth close in on him. He was completely at ease. Her mere touch and the sincerity of her words caused him to set his glass down and wrap a pale arm around her dark shoulder. With his other hand, he tipped her chin up to face him. "Me neither." He touched his nose to her cheek and trailed kisses from there down to her neck, his fingers trickling down her arm. This felt so beautiful, so right.

Gawd, I always get so mixed up when it comes to the difference between "effect" and "affect" x_x; 508

Savina was certain she would be happy of whatever path in life they chose to pursue, but selfishly she hoped that those paths wouldn't lead them away from Crimson Dreams. Even if they did, she hoped that it would not take them outside of these lands. Family was the foundation that kept her strong and being separated from any member had always affected her greatly, and none would cause so great an effect as the departure of her babies. Luckily as far as she knew they all seemed to be happy in Crimson Dreams for the time being. If and when the day ever came for one of them to depart she hoped that it would be far from now when she could be more certain of their safety. She knew that whenever one of them left she would worry about them, her comfort though just depended on the degree of worry that she would have. She wondered how Kansas felt about the subject, but they could speak of it later. Now was a time to let their concerns go, not bring them to the surface.

The woman didn't think it possible for her to think any ill of something that he worked so hard on. The only time that she had ever disapproved of something he had done was when it came to Naniko, and she had forgiven him on both those accounts. She recognized that he wasn't perfect and he would make mistakes, just as she was far from perfect herself. Making mistakes and making the wrong choices were simply a part of life, the only problem came was when you did not learn from them and she did not believe this to be the case with her love. That catalyst was for the most part out of their lives now though and she thought they could both breathe easier.

She smiled gleefully back at him as he refilled her glass, feeling just as giddy as he was. They had been together for a long time now and yet never once had their love or passion for one another dulled. He could still excite her as easily as he had upon their first meeting, could still bring forth those tingly new love feelings. More of the wine flowed down her throat and continued to increase those warm feelings that filled her up. Though of course, it was far more than just the wine doing that. It was him, and being close to him, and having him all to herself out here. To know how hard he had worked to put this evening together for the two of them. As he tilted her face to his' her eyes glittered with the firelight, and indescribable look of contentment on her features. The light kisses made a purr rise in her throat. Her own glass was set aside as a hand went to rest gently on his chest, like a butterfly resting on the petals of a flower. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt so right.

Dude, that one gets me, too. Sorry my posts are so short! x( I feel like I'm giving you a giant middle finger with this. 300+

Kansas would never completely stop worrying that she'd become tired of being with him. She was so gorgeous that she could easily have any man she wanted; did she have that desire? Perhaps one day he'd cease to fulfill her need for excitement. He knew this would never happen to him, because she kept him together with an unimaginable strength. He would never seek something that would ruin their relationship, for they'd come so very far. But then, he'd experienced t he dullness of casual, sexual relationships, and the experience, little as it was, left him completely repelled. It seemed the only way to quell his anxiety around this was the cherish the time he had with her, be it limited or forever. His most prominent hope in life was that it was the latter.

He could feel in the warmth of her hand that she was happy. That was all he'd wanted. Making her happy and relaxed, giving her some kind of escape this night sent waves of contentment through his entire body, from the inside out. He had never felt so accomplished and proud before in his entire life.

Her love never dulled for him and he knew it never would; after so long a union he still felt butterflies in his stomach when he was in her presence, and they fluttered now as he tasted the satin sweetness of her skin. He wanted her closer to him; the space between them needed to close as completely as possible. The arm around her reached to trail down the center of her chest, brushing against her thin body down her belly and still further. As he nibbled on her neck, he moved his hand to the warmth between her legs, and sighed when he felt the soft flesh there. She felt perfect, from her weight against his own body to the perfect skin beneath his fingers. He trailed his fingers gently, caressing her there for a few minutes, always wanting her closer.

Noooo, it's fine! I just haven't been able to stop myself from writing so much XD My replies will probably start getting shorter 402

She would never stop loving him. It wasn't even the faintest of possibilities in her mind. Even when she had been hurt or mad at his actions her love hadn't ceased to exist. She was meant to be his, that was what the woman truly felt. Her coming to these lands were no accident, the fates had brought her here. They may have been separated by an ocean for the beginning of their lives, but then the world had brought her here. Brought her to him. No one else could even come close to occupying the space that the Sadira held in her mind and heart. No one could come close to being as attractive in her gaze. Kansas was everything she had ever wanted and everything she had ever needed. He was her partner; her other half, and she knew with all her being that that bond would surpass even death itself. Not even the void beyond this world would keep them apart.

The wine was in her blood now, intensifying every sensation and making it feel twice as good. Savina supposed she could understand why people would drink if it made them feel like this, but she would only drink around him. The buzz filling her mind may have been good, but it was only this good because he was there beside her and he had done this and planned this night for them. She knew that she wouldn't have been able to come up with something so wonderful. He had though, and here they were in their own private little corner of the world, enveloped by the heat from their bodies and the fire crackling near them and basking in the mystical glow of the blue lake.

Kansas' arm moved to grace his fingers down the length of her form and her skin prickled at his touch, the electricity shocking her nerves into hyper sensitivity. The beat of her heart sped up and her breathing also took on a quicker pace. As his fingers found their way between her legs her head laid back against his shoulder, her legs opening for him as a sigh of moan escaped her lips. Her hand fell from his chest to his thigh, her fingers pressing into his muscle before they began to massage slowly upward. Already the fey's arousal was clear, moisture coming to slick his fingers as he caressed her folds.
