come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops

He'd called them to the Town Hall this time, eager to show it off. It stood right by their usual meeting place, the ceremonial ground, and so it would be easy to find. Eyes traced the inside of the building and his face wore half a smile where he stood at the very end, furthest from the entrance door. It was a sturdy building, and it looked it. In truth, though he had built the stable completely by himself, he was more proud of this building. The stable still needed a lot of fixing, and if his carpenter bloodline had ever put their eyes on it they probably would have laughed, and not in the good way, either. It was shelter, and it remained standing without being unsafe, and this in itself made it an accomplishment for Dawali. The horses seemed content enough, but there were always bad things happening to the roof, or a piece of wood would be missing, creating a hole in the wall where the wind would seep right through. But this building was not like that, and he reckoned it would remain intact for a much longer time than the stable. The Chief had never paid attention when his father had been trying to teach him how to do these things. Dawali had been more interested in the "magic" of herbs and herbal healing, and eventually his father had given up trying to make sure that this son, too, stayed within the Amara profession path. In no way had he looked down on Dawali's chosen profession, but the now grown male supposed his father had always hoped he would go back and return to become a carpenter like his father. Most of his brothers had done so, and now that he was a father himself, he could easily understand why his father might have wished that he picked up the carpenting path. But he had not been satisfied with building things, not until now, anyways.

As the Chief waited for the others' arrival, he turned his message this way and that in his head. He felt like a hypocrit, really. He would urge — no, order — them to remain cool about it, to be true to their wisdom and not their feelings on the matter, but what had he done, only two days ago? Truly, it made him shameful. But, what they didn't know wouldn't harm them, and it seemed to him that the meeting had been successful enough. After all, he could not simply sit down here in the south where everything was much safer and be expected to do nothing to aid his friend in need. He didn't even have to ask himself if he thought she would fight; he knew she would. Her scars told a story, and it also told of a female who was not afraid of confrontation, unlike her red AniWayan friend. Knowing this and assuming that she would fight, only made his urge to aid her stronger, and so, in secret, that was what he had done. In a way, at least. And now he would tell his members not to do what he had just done. It did not feel good, but it was necessary both for him, and for them. After all, what kind of leader would he be if he did not address this issue? If any of them had friends or family in either the pack or the clan, they had to be told to think first, or it could be the end of their social network altogether, and for a long time to come.

It had been drizzling consistently that day, and the rain had seemingly made it much colder than it really was temperature wise. Any moment now the cold liquid that fell from the heavens would begin to form into more solid flakes, and an oncoming, silent fall of flurries should be kissing the earth at any moment. Even though the young Ayastigi had liked rain, she didn't particularly enjoy the rain in the winter. Winter overall was only enjoyed by the fact that one could conjure snowballs, make snow creations and snow angels, but that was about it. Asha didn't particularly enjoy the frigid temperaments of this winter, and was only counting down the days until the official Vernal Equinox was to arrive again. It seemed so close, yet so far away at the same time.

Upon returning her father had explained about a new Town Hall that himself and Hemming had built for the tribe. It had been situated close to the ceremonial grounds, so it was quite easy to find. She was excited to see the new structure of the village, and once coming upon it, took a moment in the cold rain to inspect the outside of it. Not too bad, not bad at all. It looked decent, at least crafted with some carpentry skill, although there had been some tiles and odd places from the roof to where some things were missing, and could only imagine with this drizzling that water had already began leaking in. Still, the building that was proclaimed a new Town Hall had made her chuckle softly to herself, proud and amused that her father had helped build such a thing. Wasting no more time to admire it from the cold, wet outside, Asha hurried in the front entrance; shaking off the excess moisture that collected upon her russet fur.

Once inside, it was seemingly just as cold as outside, unfortunately. At least it was much more dry, and the leakage wasn't as bad as first assumed. It seemed as if she had been the first to arrive, and was quite giddy to see the rest of the tribe come. There had been faces to which she had not seen in awhile, and was excited to see once again. This had been a meeting of concern, and since Asha only knew the most minor details of the war brewing in the North, figured the topic of the meeting might have been along the lines of just that. Seeing as how Dawali had been patiently waiting alone in the Town Hall, his eldest daughter had walked up to him and gave a little bow of acknowledgement to Dawali. "Agidoda." Asha said in greeting, with a smile. She then casted her amber gaze around, and then focused back upon him. "Not so bad, I'm actually impressed with all of this. You did a great job, 'Doda." Her hand then gestured to the Town Hall structure that was situated around them. At least now they could have meetings in a professional style, without getting drowned out by the rain and snow outside.

we should have a barn fixing thread ;3

The white male made his way through the territory, on his way to the meeting. Town hall… town hall… He repeated the simple phrase in his head, trying to locate the building. He hadn’t been in the territory long enough for him to know every place in the tribe’s lands, and he was finding it a bit difficult to find the building. He knew that once he found it, he would feel silly for not find

ing it sooner. But he would figure that out sooner.

But he would worry about that later. For now, he needed to find the damn place. His nose lifted into the air then, drawing in a slow breath. He could smell the scents of the leader, and Asha, ahead of him a little ways. He had found it. His tail wagging slowly, he jogged quickly to the meeting place.

“Am I late?” He asked breathlessly when he had reached the place. He slowed and stopped, looking around. The building was well built, and it looked pretty sturdy to the white male. He walked over to a boulder and sank down onto the smooth surface, settling his elbows on his knees as he waited for more members to show up.

The call rang loud and clear through the AniWayan lands, though it was a little hindered by the stuffiness and constancy of the rain. Tayui had been planning on coaxing Claudius out of the den that day to go hunting, but the rain had given the pale boy good enough reason to stay cooped up in their cave. Tayui had not wanted to stay in a stuffy, muggy cave all day, so she had decided to brave the weather and go out for a walk. She quickly discovered it was not the best of days for a walk, and soon enough, she had taken shelter beneath a grove of pine trees. Their needles kept her fairly dry at the base, and only every so often did rain penetrate the needles.

It was here beneath this tree that Tayui heard the call and set off. She sent out a howl of her own, answering Dawali's. As an afterthought, she sent out another one beckoning Claudius to come as well. Now that he was over a year old, he was a member of the tribe, and on the craftsman path, too. He had every right and responsibility to come out to the meeting.

Tayui arrived in the village soon enough; she had been quite close from her walk, and only had to jog a short distance before she arrived. She saw the newly constructed town hall and took a moment to admire the work. Tayui had not yet heard about the construction of this building, and she wondered if they would discuss it today. She doubted it; she suspected they would be discussing the Dahlian War today, which she was a little apprehensive about. Taking a deep breath, Tayui entered the town hall to see Dawali, Asha, and a new fellow already there. She offered the members a smile, and to Dawali, a greeting.

“Dawali,” she said with a respectful dip of her head. “I hope the winter has been treating you well,” she added. She took a seat beside Asha, waiting for the other members to arrive.

The young she-wolf strode nervously through the impressive village, her tail low between her legs and her eyes flitting about with fear. As soon as she heard the howl that beckoned her to her chief, Yumiko had ventured forth from her explorations of the packlands into the main village. She had avoided the area until then, afraid to meet her new pack members. Unusually for her she walked in her Optime form, giving her a higher vantage point on the area. The huts were impressive and numerous; she vowed to get one for herself one day. Maybe she would build one when the meeting concluded. Speaking of the meeting, what was it possibly about? That... war she had heard talk of? She shuddered as she strolled along and picked up her pace in the unfamiliar streets. A war... if she was called to fight she didn't think she could stomach the violance. She might have to leave her newfound tribe. She just couldn't harm another, not unless one she loved was in danger. Not after seeing everthing she'd seen.

Despite the unfamiliar area, the layout of the village was simple and straightforward and she soon found her way to the cerimonial grounds. Following her ears more than her sight, she heard talking and the sound of the one voice she had heard in these lands; her Chief Dawali's. She liked the male, and appreciated all her had done for her by accepting her and giving her another chance. Yumiko's eyes widened as something of importance surfaced in her mind; she was going to ask for another position within the tribe. She knew it was rushed and perhaps uncalled for, but she felt useless just wandering and with little purpose. She wanted to become some sort of healer, to put her talents to use. With her mother's teachings under her belt, she would prove herself and maybe even charm a mate with her skill.

The town hall loomed ahead, visible despite the mild fog and horrific drizzle. She shook her fur and brushed a droplet from her snout, just as it reached her nose. How annoying. I really hate Winter. She thought miserably. As Yumiko's nose caught whiff of Dawali, she noticed that she was not the first to arrive. Two females and a male surrounded the Chief, awaiting the start of the meeting. Was that all of the pack? Was this why she was accepted so readily? Breaking into a quick trot, Yumiko ran up to the others with her heart fluttering. New wolves; she was nervous. Slowing to an easy stop, she looked up at the tall, rather imposing Chief a few feet away. "Hello, I hope I haven't missed anything." She said softly, her eyes smiling. Feeling no need to ask how he had been, as she had seen him not long before, she turned gracefully and sat beside the white male on another boulder. Out of the corner of her eye she peeked at the others and found them all waiting paitiently for their Chief to speak.

Yumiko put her hands in her lap and tucked her tail around her thigh, content for the time being. The rain had peetered off, becoming the slightest of snowfalls, and her fur was slowly drying out. She would wait until the meeting was over, and then talk with her newfound Chief about a more meaningful position. What then?... Perhaps find a nice place, near the village and close to the river, that was calm enough for her to build a hut and start a new life. She would find peace here, at last.

OOC: sorry for being late and for the suck in this post...just couldn't think of anything to put really...

Aria's ear's twitched when she heard the howl from the pack leader, which got a sigh from the white and gray wolf. Raising herself from her den, she walked in her lupus form, going at a regular pace so that she doesn't end up becoming lost and missing the meeting altogether. The female traveled for several minutes before coming up to a large wooden structure, and held back for a few seconds, being intimidated by the size, having not seen such a large building of that kind before. It took her a few seconds to remember her reason for coming and she forced herself to walk into the seemingly monolithic creation.

Looking around and observing the way the wooden building was crafted. She took in the way each piece fitted while keeping her other senses aware of the other wolves in the hall. After sating her curiosity she turns and walks to the leader, albeit slightly nervously, and looks up to him "May I ask what the meeting is about?" she states respectfully and keeps her body language submissive, being relatively new to the pack.

Sorry this took me so long >< James asked me to bring Ember in too, so here she is.

It was a little surprising that the stuff falling from the sky was so, well, wet. The last few days had been chilly, but apparently it was now warm enough to melt the snow on its way down. Hemming had eschewed his hat, as it was better serving its purpose as a sponge before the sun had even cleared the horizon, and was now sporting his rather charming spirit guide. She sang as the wolf headed towards the Town Hall, apparently pleased to be able to grip his head without hindrance. It had been a while since there had been a tribe meeting - not since the previous ceremony - and the Gatlvska wondered what it was about. Whatever it was, it was the first time the Town Hall was being put to a formal use. Though it wasn't perfect yet, the sight of the building made a warm feeling surge in the male's chest, part pride and part fondness for the memories it raised.

As he was making a brisk pace towards the meeting, Hemming spotted Ember, and lifting a hand he waved and called before hustling towards her. Her pace was naturally quicker than his, though that wasn't saying much; he liked to walk slowly. Comments about the rain and laughter were exchanged, and before they knew it the two wolves had reached the handsome building. They stepped in, brushed the water from their fur and moved toward the gathering. There were faces that were familiar and faces that weren't, but Hemming smiled briefly at them all before sitting.

come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops

They arrived; some in pairs or groups, some alone. Mostly, they arrived one by one, and most greeted him in one form or the other. He grinned broadly at his daughter when she complimented him on the quality of the building, and he quickly mentioned to her that she should not forget Hemming's hand in this. But that point would soon be pointed out to everyone, for he intended to speak highly of it as soon as everyone had come. Levi appeared with a face that was worried for being late, and Tayui greeted him politely, as she often did. He nodded and smiled to them both, offering them polite greetings and responses that matched theirs. Levi was far from late; Dawali had not yet begun the meeting. To Tayui he professed that the winter was treating him well, though he kept to himself how the spring would treat him better, once it arrived. He mirrored her request; the usual dance of social convention, and exchange of polite phrases. But, it was a dance he did not mind, and it kept his bonds with his friends fresh and updated. Yumiko arrived and expressed the same worry as Levi, but he offered her a sentence or two of reassurance as well, and as Aria and Hemming and Ember finally arrived, Dawali could see none but one face missing. He answered Aria's question briefly, stressing that she would know the meeting's topic soon enough. Louis was probably just around the corner, the Chief concluded, and he took a step up on the slightly elevated part of the room at the end of it, standing but a foot's length higher than the rest, clearing his throat in an attempt to capture their attention.

"Welcome to the Town Hall!" He felt rather pompous speaking like that, but he could not honestly say that he did not like a bit of drama every now and then. His arms moved out from his sides slightly, and he stood tall, voice deep and strong; the voice of a leader. "I want to just introduce this meeting by thanking my good friend Hemming for helping me with this project. It has taken me almost a full year to build this structure, so that we can meet in a more hospitable place than in the midst of the winter elements during the cold season. Had it not been for his brilliant ideas, I certainly would not have finished it by now." He paused, allowing the attention to land fully on the other male, his own gaze landing firmly on him. Smiling, he was truly grateful for his efforts in helping the Chief piece together his dream of building this thing, and it had turned out so well, too. The Chief let the moment linger, but then continued to the subject at hand; a subject which was far less pleasurable, but all the more necessary, to speak about. He hesitated for a moment, but collected himself, and pushed the knowledge of his hypocrisy out of his mind. It would gain no one to let the thought linger. "The reason I have called you, however, is of a more sensitive character," he said, pausing a moment to let his gaze wander as he spoke. "As I'm certain a lot of you already know, war is upon the packs in the north; Dahlia de Mai and Inferni. Though this is far away from us, there are still certain things to consider. I understand that some of you perhaps have friends or family in either pack; do not let this conflict break the bonds you have there, and more importantly; here. Even more so, do not let these bonds carry you towards participation in this war. It is not AniWayan business, and I will not have a tribesmember make it AniWayan business." They did not have the strength to withstand any sort of conflict right now, and till Dawali drew his last breath he would always work the hardest he possibly could to prevent such things from ever happening to them. "We have no alliance with either of these two sides, and we have no enemies either. I beg you to work to keep it this way." He allowed for some time to pass now, to let the members express themselves on the matter, to ask questions, or whatever might please them. Still, they would find that in this matter, he was quite firm. He had seen enough of war to know that it gained no one. In reality, no one won wars; everyone lost.

Extremely sorry for the delay. O_x;; 397

Slowly the newly proclaimed Town Hall of AniWaya was becoming lively and filled with warm conversation and the presence of the Tribe members. Asha eagerly watched as each membered filtered in the entrance, taking notice of the structure and some having their own comments to be had. There were a good deal of familiar faces the warrior recognized, and for those she did know, she would give a cheerful wave and a smile to them. For those that were new to her, she would still grant them acknowledgement with offering a fleeting smile and a cant of her muzzle to welcome them. It was great to see new faces, and how the Tribe was evolving over time. Asha only hoped there would be more new faces to come within the Spring.

Once her father cleared his throat, Asha turned her focus upon him as he boasted a welcoming that was a little louder than usual, which made her snicker. Dawali noted to her once before that Hemming had a hand within the structure of the Town Hall, so once his name was acknowledged her amber gaze flew over to Hemming and gave him a smile. They certainly did a good job, and would look forward to many more gatherings under this roof. It was then the meeting would move on to more serious issues, concerning the war between Dahlia de Mai and Inferni. Asha only heard brief snippets about the confrontation, but her ears pivoted forward and listened to what Dawali knew about the situation, and how it would effect the Tribe and anyone else.

AniWaya was supposed to strictly remain on neutral terms. Nodding silently to her father's command, even though the prospect of war was interesting to investigate, herself as a warrior for the Tribe couldn't get too far in the middle of it. She would do anything to not give her father a bad name, and also put the Tribe in the middle of it all. What Dawali said seemed sensible enough as a request, since Asha didn't have too many friends at all from both territories, but a good amount of acquaintances to which she held good terms with. Asha was about to go without a word, but remembered a conversation she had with a fellow from Phoenix Valley. "And, apparently those in Inferni are wolf haters, or so a male from Phoenix Valley told me one day. They are primarily all coyotes if some didn't know, so just be cautious if you happen to have a run in with them at anytime." Asha wasn't sure how useful that was in general, but it was good to keep the rest of the Tribe in the know about it.

Tayui smiled in reply to Dawali, nodding quietly as he spoke. Although she wanted to ask him more -- about how he was doing, and catch herself up with the news of AniWaya -- she knew that this was not the appropriate time. And she was sure Dawali would include the recent goings-on when he spoke, so she knew she did not have long to wait. Soon enough, three more wolves entered the building, all of which Tayui did not recall meeting before. She wondered just how much she had missed when she had been keeping to herself and with her children. Certainly, it appeared as though quite a bit had been going on.

Dawali quickly introduced one of the newcomers, gesturing to the male. Hemming, Dawali iterated, had assisted him in building -- and more importantly, theorizing the town hall. Tayui let her gaze slide over to the mottled male. She then noticed that Ember, too, had joined their group. Tayui realized she must have missed the other girl's arrival since she had been focusing on Dawali the whole time! She offered the girl a familiar smile, again wishing she had time to catch up with the Phoenix lady. However, Dawali continued onward, explaining the war between Inferni and Dahlia de Mai. For a moment, Tayui frowned, trying to piece together what she knew about the two packs. Gabriel led Inferni now, and from what Tayui had heard, Kaena had returned to the clan as well. So this must have been Gabriel's doing, for he had been the Aquila for a long enough time that even the return of his mother, previous leader, could not dislodge him from his post.

Tayui did not know what to think. On one hand, Haku was from Dahlia, and there was a part of her that wanted her children to know their father. But the man was a beast, and she had known this when she'd slept with him. But what was Inferni doing with Dahlia de Mai? What was the purpose of this newfound war? Tayui could still remember the war between Aremys and Inferni, and how she had once stood before her packmembers and addressed them as Dawali had. What could it mean now, for all of them?

Tayui was pulled from her thoughts when she heard Asha speak, and she instantly frowned. Perhaps some of them were wolf-haters, but not all of them were. Kaena had not outright attacked her when they had spoken, and the only reason Tayui had to suspect any hostility on Kaena's part was if Salvaged Eternity had still been in Jaded Shadows. But by the time the two leaders had met, Salvaged had left Jaded Shadows, and Inferni was at war with Aremys. Although this had frightened Tayui, and she had wondered if her pack would have been next, Kaena had assured her there was no conflict between them, and Kaena had kept her word. Even when Tayui had met Gabriel, on his own lands, and established Shadowed Sun's neutrality in the first Dahlian War. Haku had raped someone (and still, Tayui slept with him), and then attacked again. But the one thing that had stood out from that meeting was Gabriel's insistence that it was a war with Haku, not Dahlia de Mai. Tayui wondered how much of that was true again for this case.

“As long as you don't provoke them, I doubt you have much to worry about,” she retorted, surprised that there were still wolves who believed it was all wolf-hating and coyote-hating. It wasn't all so black and white. “I'd be wary in case they mistake you for a Dahlian wolf, but if you don't go picking fights, they've no reason to attack you.” She wanted to add: They just want to live their lives as they see fit, but given the context, she doubted it would be appropriate. Nonetheless, both Gabriel and Kaena's words had boiled down to the same essential principle: don't bother us and we won't bother you.

As a few more people arrived and took up positions around their Chief, Yumiko began to relax in the rather peacful atmosphere. Sure, everyone was tense about why the meeting had been called, but despite her deep-rooted hatred for the stuff she found the snow calming her down with its large, fluffy flakes passing by the open door to the hall. All at once the gathering quieted, and Dawali began to address them. He started off lightly enough, pointing out the newly built (so that was why everyone was so in awe) Town Hall they rested in, pride clear in his voice despite his words saying he had plenty of help.

Then a cloud seemed to loom overhead, as he took a deep breath as if to steady himself. What could he possibly have to say that had him so worried? He immediately told them, and she realised he was not worried about his words so much as the crowd's reaction to his statment. A few gasped, but most were not surprised and quickly agreed and disagreed as a debate slowly began. With no relatives or real friends in the area, Yumiko didn't really know where she stood and decided to follow her leader's will. It seemed logical enough.

One female seemed to disagree with his points entirely, going as far to say she clearly took the side of... coyotes? There's a pack of coyotes? I didn't know they did that. Yumiko thought blatently, a frown creasing her forhead. Deciding to give herself a voice even if it didn't have much to say, she spoke up timidly. "I know most of you don't know me, and that I don't really have much say in this decision, but... I think our Chief has chosen the right path. We aren't exactly the largest pack out there, and we can't really afford to have any enemies." In regards to Tayui's comment about coyotes not being that much of a threat, she added, after a short gap in her words, span <style="color:#4B3F55;font-weight:bold;">"I mean of any kind. Wolf or coyote, Luperci or not. We should stay neutral."

With that, Yumiko realised she had stood up when she began to speak and hastily sat back on her rock. Hunching over in case she had just made a fool of herself, her ears lowered in embaressment at speaking up in front of a crowd of mostly complete strangers, she waited to see what would happen next. As she did so she vowed to wait until she could take Dawali aside, and ask for the healing position she hadn't been able to stop thinking about the entire meeting, drama or no.

His gaze flew over the ones present, and while most stayed silent, some raised their voices to comment on his words. His daughter gave a message of racism, and Dawali very nearly frowned. Yes; he'd understood that this was a common misconception. Tayui's words mirrored his thoughts and course of action. While some of their members surely were racists (Kaena had said so herself), their leader was more wolf than coyote. If some of AniWaya's members were racists, did that make the whole tribe a racist tribe? Furthermore it had been made clear to him that the reasons for their hostility in general was simply survival; a small clan of coyotes amid large packs of wolves had no chance of surviving without a reputation for violence. This method for surviving puzzled Dawali, but there was no doubt in his mind that it was working. He'd figured the two packs to the north were simply too close for comfort, hence the conflicts. His knowledge did not stretch as far as to Dahlia's take on it, but he assumed it was something similar. He sent his daughter a small, fond smile before correcting her; he knew she was proud and she might not appreciate it. But, then, such was life, and he would not have his tribesmembers judge them before they met them. "I have spoken with several highly ranked members of Inferni on the topic of this war. While some of their members are racists, most are in essence sceptical and wary of wolves, due to many, many years of conflict between them and various wolf packs. But the clan as a whole does not appear racist, so please take this aspect out of the equation. They have difficulties trusting wolves because of their history, much as we all have grudges and flaws that lead us to do foolish things." He paused, and his gaze moved to Tayui. "Like Tayui said; leave them alone, and they won't bother us. I do not mind peaceful trips to seek friends there, but leave it until the conflict is over, else the wrong impression could be made." He smiled for a moment, and his gaze moved again to Yumiko, always glad for support. "Thank you, Yumiko," he said, before directing his words outwards to the rest of them. "That was all I wanted to say tonight. You are all welcome to speak up if you have opinions or questions; I will stay here a little while further." He sat down now, on one of the crooked chairs that lined the room, waiting for the situation to phase out and people to leave. There would perhaps be more questions; he hoped so. Better they came to him with them, than wondering on their own and perhaps doing the wrong thing.

She hadn't been up to Inferni for a good long while. Ember had once stalked Hybrid, trying to find him so that he might attack her and end her life, but those days were long in her past. She had no reason to go up to Inferni at all, not having any close bonds to any of its members...so she would stay in AniWaya as much as she could and stick to her own devices. There was enough to do around the tribe's lands already. The second-in-command was in agreement with Tayui and nodded her head when her friend spoke. It was Tayui who had gotten her away from Hybrid when she had eventually found him, the wolf who had saved her life and convinced her that AniWaya was the right place for her to live.

Ember's eyes went to Yumiko next then back to Dawali as he finished off the meeting. She wasn't asked to say anything and kept up her silence for a few more minutes. She would do nothing to endanger the tribe in a time like this, and she trusted that the members were smart enough to keep themselves out of trouble. The warrior looked out over the tribe, cleared her throat, then spoke. "If they come here and try to start any trouble, give me a howl. I'll help take care of 'em."

Although Tayui had been concerned her words were too strong — after all, she wasn't saying the coyotes would not attack unprovoked, since they had in the past — she felt it was necessary to address Asha's misconceptions. They weren't all bad, as Dawali mentioned, and as Yumiko mentioned, Dawali had chosen the correct path. They were a tribe, not a pack; there had to be a difference there. The entire AniWayan way of life was different from most, and they had journeyed to 'Souls to escape the prejudices of their past lives. Certainly, they were the ones who would understand the consequences of mistrust and fear. Fear could lead to hatred and bitterness, and Tayui knew none of them wanted that. Perhaps she would speak with Asha someday to see whether she believed what she said, or if she was simply repeating some other wolf's words. Until then, Tayui would not know.

Tayui saw Ember catch her eye for a moment, nodding slowly. Tayui tilted her head, giving her a slightly thoughtful look, wondering what Ember's glance could mean. Once Ember spoke, Tayui recalled her meeting with a male coyote, and how Ember had begged Tayui to leave her behind. How she had begged Tayui to return her to Storm — just like the last Ember had. Tayui felt the familiar feeling of regret wash over her at the thought of her adoptive daughter, but tried not to wallow in it. She offered Ember a small chuckle in reply, nodding her head slowly. Ember had made quite a name for herself as a warrior here. With Dawali, who had fought off Brennt, and Ember protecting the pack, they had a bit of a fighting chance should that wretched coyote choose to return. As long as they didn't try to attack Inferni or do anything to provoke them, however, Tayui suspected things would be fine. After all, she could only hope.
