bound and gagged, shot and stabbed

His mind was simplistic in nature, bred of disease and death, inhaling the scent of decaying flesh and maggots. Writhing white worms crawled in the backs of his eyes, threatening to burst forth, spilling his brains out onto the soil. Once, a long time ago he would have been a normal child. But someone--unknown, as his thoughts dared not dwell on past events--had snatched away his innocence, tearing into him with silver scalpel and medical instruments, piecing together a new creature from the remains of others. Even his true age was lost--an adult, of course--but his exact years were gone with most of his memories. He was a mindless beast, desiring bloodshed and murder despite his simple fixation on insignificant things. The bleached wolf skull Kaena had allowed him to keep remained his prize, kept at his side at all times. The bone had been placed over his face now, too large for his narrow coyote’s frame, but positioned just right that he could see from the hollowed out sockets of the eyes.

Only one eye of his could actually see, the other milked over with cataract, and so as long as this side was held at the back of a hole, he was fine. Claws dug into his flesh, scratching at the insects that crawled through his mangled coat. He couldn’t stand them. He wished to destroy them. But for the time being he could only settle for dragging his nails into his skin, itching and itching and itching until his skin became raw and red. An old, rotted out quilt lay across his form, keeping him warm where his ratty coat could not, and he lay beneath the sun attempting to soak up any warmth between the showers of flurries that spilled from the heavens. It was cold. He despised the cold. Narrow bones held close for comfort, holding in any warmth his shallow heart provided, pumping blood through his extremities with soft, irregular thumps.
