It had already snowed once, pressing into Terra's mind the need to be ready. Food would be scarce, and she wouldn't let her new pack starve because they wanted to stick together. Terra didn't quite understand how they would survive, but she'd been told that food would be brought in and stored. Eager to donate to the pile she'd set off hunting, looking for something preferably bigger than a rabbit. If she was lucky she might just catch a small deer, or come across a fresh kill she could steal.


Nose to the ground Terra tracked the herd she'd scented a while back. Normally she wouldn't think of approaching a herd on her own, but she'd smelled something worth hunting right away. The scent of blood was strong, driving her to track it. If she could locate the injured deer it'd be an easy matter for her to take it down. She'd finally come across the herd, drinking from a small stream. Sure enough there was the injured one, standing near the edge. Terra didn't know why the weaker deer were driven to the edge of the herd, but it benefited her, so she concentrated on creeping up.


Ever so carefully Terra drew herself closer and closer. Her lips were pulled back in a silent snarl. The deer looked up, seeming to sense the danger, but it's movement panicked Terra, causing her to leap. The herd scattered, running with the ferocity of those who had seen death. Terra knew the deer's hooves could kill her, so she concentrated on keeping on it's back.


Over and over again the deer tossed, threatening to break her grip. Instead Terra bit deeper into it's side, aggravating the previous wound. It had escaped from something once, it wouldn't be so lucky again. Tired the deer slammed into a tree, managing to at last dislodge Terra. Disgruntled she leaped for the creature's throat, only to be met with slashing hooves. It was too weak to run, but it wouldn't give in without a fight. Growling Terra bit a front leg, regretting choosing to hunt in her lupus form. The secui form would have made it easier with it's brute strength.


Dodging the hooves Terra pushed herself under the deer's belly, using the same trick she'd used on enemies with horses. Granted the horses were under their master's control, while the deer had no such rider to keep it from panicking and backing up. Her speed was quick enough though, and she tore into the creature's soft stomach. With too many wounds the deer finally collapsed. Pleased with her kill Terra circled around, nudging it softly.


At this point she'd normally dig into her prey, enjoying the taste of fresh kill. She couldn't afford to do that when she was planning on deliver the deer to her pack however. It was small, probably a little more over two years old, but would still be difficult to drag. It was her own offering for the pack though, and Terra wouldn't call for help. She changed into secui form and began the laborious drag to the cellar. She'd been there once before with Liam after their game, and knew that it was close. Sides heaving with exhaustion she dropped her deer a few feet away from the center of the village. She closed her eyes to rest, waiting to be strong enough to continue pulling her catch.


Time seemed to crawl as energy slowly seeped back into her tired muscles. Finally with her power restored Terra managed to drag the deer the rest of the way to the cellar. Opening the door Terra pushed it down, watching it fall. Her task complete, Terra headed back to the hotel, head held high. She had managed to provide food for her pack.
