Alaric Ivanov is almost pure wolf. He has a lean build, but it doesn't diminish from how large he is. Standing at almost 7 feet in his Optime form, he towers over many. He has the characteristic large hands and feet of his kind, with small triangular ears that sometimes hide in his blonde waves. Though his face is primarily wolfish, his snout tapers into a narrow point reminiscent of a coyote's from his mother's Indian wolf heritage.
Alaric's fur is thick and plush most of the time, but it thins out in the height of summer. He is primarily dark chocolate brown and reddish gold that fades into a champagne color he inherited from his mother. His eyes are heterochromatic: one vivid blue and one silvery gray.
Despite his wildish appearance, Alaric is far from intimidating. His eyes are warm with mirth and his demeanor is always open. Alaric displays minor preference for his optime form due to its dexterous fingers for art, but is also often found switching between his two four legged forms. He rarely wears clothing but wears his father's necklace with him always.
The Ivanov man smells of many familiar things: grass, dirt, horses, but also of things indicative of his hobbies such as wax, berries, and paper.

Beyond his initially shallow facade, Alaric is a shockingly deep man. His loyalties run strong for his family. He was born into a very tight knit family unit that over time has disassembled due to various deaths and travels. Now all that remains of his initial nuclear family is his aging older brother, though he does have more siblings that he has grown close to, he still feels a longing for what he once had.
Alaric longs to form a family unit of his own. He has fathered children who he never got a chance to raise and it leaves a hole in his heart, but after a bad experience, he has devoted himself to finding true love -whatever that means. Alaric doesn't care to pick and choose based on sex or physical attributes. He instead is drawn to personalities and the idea of love amongst adults, even multiples.
He also chooses to take everything at face value rather than probe deeper. It is easier to trust than to fall into paranoia regardless of past experiences. He allows himself to live in the moment and 'forget' the past.

History:
- Alaric was born to Veri Secanti and Rurik Ivanov alongside a stillborn sister.
- Shortly after his birth, his mother adopted two orphaned children: Rumpa and Mercy Nightshade. The twins were standoffish and anti-authoritarian initially, but eventually formed a sibling-like relationship with the younger Alaric.
- For his apprenticeship, Alaric was granted the mentor of Honrin Wolfe-Denahlii who was a formative influence in his young life.
- During his youth, Alaric was visited often with a "Sun Man" - the ghost of Lorenzo Knight.

- After his failed First Blood against Nora Knight, Alaric was granted the rank of Recruit and later Cadet, where he stayed for many years.

- January 2020, Alaric's father, Rurik Ivanov was found drawn, quartered, and beheaded.
- February 2020, Alaric's brother, Rumpa Nightshade, dies.
- Alaric's brother Damon leaves for the outpost with his husband, Arlen Stryder, who feels guilty about Rumpa's death.
- March 2020, Rumpa's son, Alaric's nephew, is born.
- August 2020, Luca Knight is killed by an unknown assailant.
- September 2020, assailants are caught and Veri Secanti gives birth to Alaric's younger half-brothers.

- In spring of 2021, Aldora Knight, Sola of Casa di Cavalieri, requests that Alaric provide the genetic material so that she may have pups with her wife, Minerva Griffith.
- June 2021, Zanthe Damaichu and Veyron Knight are born but Alaric realizes that he can never be their father.
- June 12, 2021 Alaric convinces Starlight Hushhowl to try alcohol for the first time which ends in consensual sex that Star doesn't remember the next morning.
- August 2021, Starlight gives birth to a single pup who she names Ursa Hushhowl. Alaric hunts for her but she doesn't ever indicate when he can be a part of their life.
- September 2021, Alaric's mother, Veri dies after a fall. Alaric plucks up the courage to confront Starlight about Ursa's parentage and is granted access to his daughter for the first time. A week later, Ursa eats a plant that makes her sick and dies after improper treatment from Morty.
- October 2021, Starlight asks Alaric to impregnate her again as a "do over" and he calls quits on whatever their relationship was, instead choosing to seek out someone with whom he can have a loving, meaningful relationship.
