Being a nearly even split between various wolf subspecies and a variety of dog breeds in the spitz family, Elkin shares many different qualities with both sides but the mixture is smooth and well-balanced. Perhaps taking after his Mackenzie Valley wolf roots, with help from the Akita blood from his mother, Elkin is a large wolfdog with a muscular neck and, although well-proportioned to his body, long legs that help him navigate deep snow and thick vegetation. With his deep chest and large paws, he is built much more readily for paced loping than for sprinting at high speeds.
Elkin's ears are slightly larger and his muzzle is a little heavier than a full-blooded wolf but the real indication of his mixed heritage is the way that his tail curls tightly over his back. His double-coated pelt is thick, but not especially long, and primarily dark in color with hues of brownish-black and splashes of dusky-mocha. The lightest shades are off-white fringes that touch his chest, toes, tail, ears, and face. His eyes are a pale shade of yellow that stand out almost eerily from his dark face.
While Elkin's size and personality is reminiscent of his paternal grandfather, it's possible that he owes his facial markings and dark color to his paternal grandmother.

In spite of the negative experience of being banished from his birth pack, Elkin is still quite a happy and playful young man. Boundless in energy, he is almost always on the move or telling a story or engaging in some sort of mischief or play. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and even in the darkest of times or the most serious of topics, you can count on Elkin to make light of the situation or find something to laugh about. Unfortunately, this can sometimes leave others annoyed with him, particularly if it's in poor taste or otherwise unwarranted.
That isn't to say, however, that Elkin is all fun and games. A deeply passionate and affectionate man, particularly towards his brother and those of his pack, Elkin often faces threats and insults boldly and without a whole lot of forethought, predisposing him to unnecessary fighting and negative consequences. Despite the risk of bodily harm, he will defend himself, his brother, and those to whom he is loyal with as much verve and intensity as he can muster.
Fiercely loyal and endlessly devoted, once you gain Elkin's trust and earn his respect, the bond that is formed is bound to last a lifetime.

History:
One of two children born to Torrin, a leader of Darkholt from Trillium Hollow, and his mate, Snježana Parhelion, Elkin was brought into a world of privilege and lofty aspirations.
The early months of his puphood were largely uneventful, filled with hunting lessons, societal teachings, cultural stories, and ample opportunity for mischief and play. Although inseparable from his brother, it was clear that Elkin had a different attitude and mindset from Vannin that their father thought highly of. For it seemed to him as though his darker son had the makings of a leader.
But, much to Torin's chagrin and ire, Elkin found himself more interested in fun and games (and poorly-received pranks). When he and his brother disrupted a pack hunt with their mischievous transgressions, bringing them to the precipice of conflict with the neighboring pack, Viburnum, it was the final straw for their father and other members of Darkholt.
As punishment for their actions, and in the hopes that a lesson would at last be learned and his sons might finally mature and grow from their foolish antics, Elkin and his brother were banished from Trillium Hollow and made to strike out on their own.
