It could be a delicate procedure, that was certain. The bottle trembled in Everett’s hands as he braced himself to pour it. Too much wine would overpower the dish, too little, and its inclusion at all would be pointless. His chest tightened as the liquid slid from the bottle slowly and into the waiting stew below. The male exhaled as he stirred the contents together. Chunks of smoked meat mixed with vegetables and a sauce he hoped was both sweet and tangy.

A beat later, and a woman’s voice startled him. “Everett, whatcha doing in there?” Blue eyes followed the descent of the ladle he had been holding, as it disappeared into the pot. Well, bugger. It circled a few times, as if to taunt the scholar. He took a steadying breath, surveyed the kitchen for something useful. The search was fruitless. There was one thing for it; Everett sucked in air as he plunged his fingers into the steaming pot and retrieved it.

He yelped, one hand covered in sauce and throbbing with pain. Josephine must have been overheard, as Darius appeared from the front of the pub. The scholar nodded and waved the coyote away as he doused his burnt limb in water. With order resumed, Everett finished his preparations and plated it. With a rag to prevent further any further incidents, he carried the food into the bar area and laid it on the counter.

Darius and Josephine turned curious eyes upon him at once, noses twitching at the smell of cooked food. Other packmates lifted their heads in appreciation, and Everett froze. Who could he turn to test his latest experiment? So many of his peers whilst well-meaning and bound by the laws of Casa were well, intimidating. His gaze settled on a petite female as he gestured toward her. “Minerva! Would you care to try this?” Please let her say yes.

Hope this is ok! <3 NPCs used: Josephine and Darius. +300

It hadn’t been very long since her last visit the tavern, when she had met with Aldora and learned a little more about the atmosphere. This time when she entered she felt a little less out of place, though her heart still pounded concerned that eyes may be watching her. The chocolate female had said she liked to come here to relax by the fire. So Minerva had decided to give it a go, and bring her leather bound notebook to the tavern in an attempt to study what her teachers had already told her. There was a lot to process, and although Minnie was an obedient student it would take time for her to recognize the plants on sight and remember the differences in uses.

Quietly taking a spot by the fireplace she wiggled into the chair, trying to get comfortable. Around her a few Cavaliers were enjoying a drink and chatting, while Josephine and Darius egged them on with jokes and stern looks. As she opened her book a shriek from behind the bar caused all the Cavaliers to look on in concern as Darius hurried into the back. He returned quickly to reassure everyone that everything was fine, causing a round of cheers from those with drinks. Ears flicking back she tried to refocus on her book, but her mind wondered exactly what had happened.

The Griffith was not left alone to her studies very long, as someone suddenly called her name. Surprised by the call she jumped in her chair, her eyes widening and ears perking as she located the source. Seeing the man called Everette approach her she resumed her usual shy presence, this time with a soft smile. “Of course.” She said simply, not wanting to seem unkind to the higher ranked male. “Wh-What is it?”

His mistake had not gone unnoticed, as cheers erupted from the bar. Everett smiled sheepishly his packmates while he waited. He couldn’t help chuckling as the girl started at the sound of her name. He had been like that once. It was charming to recognise aspects of his younger self in another. Minerva graced him with a smile, and his short-lived embarrassment was forgotten.

She agreed without hesitation and asked questions, which further supplemented her character. Manners and curiosity were good traits to recognise in another in Everett’s book. His good-natured smile widened. “It is a stew I have been working on. Isaac inspired me to try adding cuts of smoked meat and cooking it slowly in its own juices.” The very thought of it caused his mouth to water, which he tried to hide from Minerva.

“The sauce is a little experiment on my part,” Everett admitted. “I hope it will be to your liking.” The Griffith daughter spent much time with Jace, he mused. Considering the matriarch preferred raw meats, the experience of cooked food might have been a novelty to the youngster. Best he prepare himself first. “Hmm. I do not wish to pry, Minerva. Have you eaten a cooked meal before?”
