<h3>The Last Word</h3>
<p>It is with heavy, but certain, hearts that we announce the imminent disbanding of Cour des Miracles. After nearly ten (!!!) years of activity, we have agreed that it is time for both of us to step down from leadership to focus on other aspects of ‘Souls. We know that this may seem sudden considering the now-bustling activity in the Court, and we apologize for the shock, but reality moves on in the background and we sometimes have to stop fighting against the riptide.

<p>We hope that you guys enjoy our disbandment event and will also consider any lovely post-disbandment loner group(s) that crop up! A group of former Courtiers will continue to reside in the area after all things are said and done, but there's no reason why other groups can't form, too.

<p>And finally, we apologize for the sheer size of this newspost. It's a lot of information, but we had to! An old pack like Cour des Miracles deserves a long-winded and bloody sendoff.

<dl><dt><b>March 4th</b></dt>
<dd>A number of people start to get ill, without real cause or reason. Violent retching, vomiting, and runny bowels occur with dangerously low fluid levels for those who are not taken care of promptly. </dd>
<dt><b>March 5th</b></dt>
<dd>Early in the morning, a dead body is found in the source for the village’s water, having floated down. Chaska is discovered to be this body by a very shaken Callista. Water is no longer taken from this source to prevent more sickness. </dd>
<dt><b>March 6th</b></dt>
<dd>More attempts to poison various water sources are found with many dead animal carcusses thrown into various points, though the faster flowing rivers (despite the winter’s sluggishness) seem less affected due to the speed they flow. The Eau Chaude and Anguille lakes however, have been noticeably tainted as they do not recirculate.</dd>
<dt><b>March 8-10th</b></dt>
<dd>Mottle dies of tainted water in the interim. No new illness reported, but those that are ill are noticeably weakened. Bodies are quietly burned by the coast. </dd>
<dt><b>March 13th</b></dt>
<dd>Things have been tense but quiet. Unfamiliar scents are noted on the borders. Sometime in the middle of the night, a low creaking can be heard by those nearby. The roof of the Hotel has collapse even further, despite no one living there permanently any longer. </dd>
<dt><b>March 14th</b></dt>
<dd>Inspecting the place, Myrtle is nearly trapped inside when the rest of the building collapses. Upon closer inspection, it seems as though there was deliberate damage done to the building, and the unfamiliar scents are found again near the Hotel. </dd>
<dt><b>March 17th</b></dt>
<dd>Ascher is attacked in the late evening as they take care of the various animals. He is knocked unconscious but remembers the assailants speaking rapid-fire Spanish. </dd>
<dt><b>March 18th</b></dt>
<dd>The assault is discovered early in the morning and while Ascher is taken home, it seems as though the horses have been set loose, as well as the various farm animals that the Court has accumulated.</dd>
<dt><b>March 19th</b></dt>
<dd>A small group of canines is sent out to scout out these enemies. They come across multiple camps that are abandoned or old. They return to discover that the group infiltrated the weakened Court and kidnapped Athalie, Eulalie, and Cidro, as well as badly injured Alessan.

<dt><b>March 20th</b></dt>
<dd>One of the belligerents confronts the Queen, threatening her with her kidnapped children. The children are hurt before the Queen, and she is warned before being expelled from their new camp. Already feeling guilt over all that has happened to her kingdom, this is the final warning before the end is nigh. Ascher succumbs to his injuries and dies.

<dt><b>March 21st</b></dt>
<dd>Groups of canines are quietly told to pack and leave for the outpost, where they will be safer. The others who are no longer interested in remaining under Court authority also quietly leave in the night.</dd>
<dt><b>March 25th</b></dt>
<dd>A severely lower in number pack remains as most disperse to the outpost or the ether. The villains attempt to raid the Court, are defeated, but those remaining are greatly weakened if not dead themselves.

<dt><b>March 27th</b></dt>
<dd>The full extent of the damage done is discovered. Several previously productive fields have been been salted. The vineyard is destroyed, the corrals broken, and the new community center has been gutted by fire, losing many books in the process. </dd>
<dt><b>March 31st</b></dt>
<dd>Cour des Miracles is officially disbanded as the remainder of the Hotel is symbolically lit on fire by the remaining Courtiers. </dd>

<h3>La Marea</h3>
<p>Sometimes, people leave a wake of destruction and pain that ripples around them. The repercussions may not be seen for a long time, but, with patience, plots can be hatched and executed after what may seem to be long enough to have forgotten and let go the troubles of the past. Unfortunately, time and distance do not seem to have been enough for a handful of people who joined together to create as much mayhem as possible all thanks to a select number of Courtiers and their own rashness in the past.</p>

<dt><b>Andalusia de Cubana</b> <a href="https://wiki.soulsrpg.com/index.php?n=Characters.AndalusiaDeCubana">[wiki]</a></dt>
<dd>A Spanish-speaking dog from the from the island of Cuba. Harboring hard, angry hatred for Kalypso for murdering Santiago (and somewhat for the fact her lover chose to sleep with the girl to get a false wealth), she longs to destroy what the woman holds dear, too. She spent the intervening years accumulating connections and skills for the purpose of avenging her brutally murdered love.
<dl><dd><u>Matias de Cubana</u> (cNPC) <a href="https://wiki.soulsrpg.com/index.php?n=NPCs.MatiasDeCubana">[wiki]</a></dd>
<dd>Andalusia’s younger brother, he was shanghaied into helping out his sister with her plot. He’s fully on board with everything and seems to share his sister’s sadistic streaks. Willing to invoke whatever violence is necessary, he’s a smooth talker which makes him a dangerous man to vex.</dd></dl></dd>
<dt><b>Barracuda </b> <a href="https://wiki.soulsrpg.com/index.php?n=Characters.Barracuda">[wiki]</a></dt>
<dd>A bilingual coydog who was a member of Captain Ochoa's crew, and lost his beloved parakeet, Guppy, amongst the flames of the ship. Out for revenge as well, Barracuda wants to hurt the assumed culprit as much as they did him, and he wants to pay it back tenfold. All guts, feisty, rash, and as much of a troublemaker as they come, Barracuda is a bit if a loose canon. Despite how he may do things on his own, he’s loyal to his captain. He wears a spiked collar and his most noticeable scar is a gnarly cut on his lip.
<dl><dd><u>Driftwood</u> (cNPC) <a href="https://wiki.soulsrpg.com/index.php?n=NPCs.Driftwood">[wiki]</a></dd>
<dd>A bilingual mutt that is a man known more for his actions than his words. He’s a capable brawler, and is a lot stronger than he looks. He often appears to be rather simple, but, he understands and notices more than he lets on. Often, he follows Barracuda’s lead, and acts as the muscle of the two. He has a lazy eye and is built like a brickhouse.</dd></dl></dd>
<dt><b>Charles “Chip” Houlihan</b> <a href="https://wiki.soulsrpg.com/index.php?n=Characters.CharlesHoulihan">[wiki]</a></dt>
<dd>A cocky, troubled youth from Freetown with a broken moral compass and a penchant for violence. Raised by a tough and mean-spirited mother, whose own morals left something to be desired, Charles was encouraged at a young age to toughen up and fight for what he wanted. When his older half-sister, Vic Houlihan, joined the ranks of a local gang, it became a point of pride for their mother and a burning desire to do the same for Charles.

<dd>Chip’s older half-sister who takes after their mother in ways that are both awful and oddly welcome to him. Crude, unsympathetic, and rowdy, Vic can just as easily be heard laughing at a wholesome joke as she can screaming obscenities at a terrified child. She is wild, boisterous, and just as over-confident as her younger brother.</dd></dl></dd>
<dt><b>Brîska Hesso</b> <a href="https://wiki.soulsrpg.com/index.php?n=NPCs.Br%C3%AEskaHesso">[wiki]</a></dt>
<dd>Jackal-heavy hybrid, daughter of Kurdish immigrants who operates as a mercenary. Polite, quiet, and focused, Brîska does not seem to have a personal stake in this conflict...but her “client” does. She has decided that joining up with the others will grant her the best chance to complete her contract.</dd>

<p>These characters may be used during the event. However, please keep in mind the timeline when using them, especially as the nature of the event is secrecy and these are not openly hostile characters until a certain point. </p>
<dl><dt><b>Ruiseñor Ochoa</b></dt>
<dd>a (former) ship’s captain from Barcelona via the Pine Islands (aka Eivissa). Ruiseñor’s ship was set ablaze amidst suspicious circumstances some months ago. Believing that one of the two potential culprits made their way towards ‘Souls, Ruiseñor is out for revenge…</dd>
<dt><b>Canaria Ochoa</b></dt>
<dd>Ruiseñor’s vindictive sister, she never liked a certain Rovira woman (particularly after she was married to the man Canaria had her eye on…) and has been wanting an excuse to pounce on her for some time. While the Ochoa siblings weren’t originally close, Canaria is more than happy to use the sabotage of her brother’s ship as an excuse to track Paloma down…</dd>
<dt><b>Hendrick the Red</b></dt>
<dd> A mercenary known to Chaska in his past. Unbeknownst to the Court and leadership, he was turned away from the borders by the old merc. Hendrick has a foul temper, a horrible attitude, and an even worse tendency to extreme violence. Relatively large, he’s terribly ferocious and easily succumbs to bloodrage. </dd>
<dt><b>Crusa van Halen</b></dt>
<dd>A coyjackel mercenary who frequently ran with Hendrick. Oftentimes, she would be offered a joint job and often just agreed to pass the time. Relatively quiet, small, and sneaky, she is the one who infiltrates and causes the most subtle destruction possible. </dd>
<dt><b>Barry Nash</b></dt>
<dd>A scarred up dog with a penchant for fiery mischief, he tags along with Chip and Vic as a bruiser. He’s not one to mess around and his bulky size means that half of the time, his intimidation tactics work better than actual violence. </dd>

<h3>Guidelines</h3>
<p>Current members of Cour des Miracles are allowed to make the first claims on a per-character basis. However, characters must be actively played. Claims are first-come, first-served. Please limit horse claims to one per character and consider realism when claiming other animals. The deadline for claims is <b>March 10th</b>.

<p>After that date, we will then announce when leadership from Casa di Cavalieri may begin claiming animals. The deadline for CdC claims is <b>March 17th</b>.

<p>If there is anything left, Mistfell Vale will have an opportunity to claim what is left.
