Such new limbs were fascinating, gangly, and proving difficult to master. However, the new perspective had bred a new sense of adventure, a new drive to figure out the goings-on in the world, to search and learn and run and explore! Lungs were working hard to draw frigid breath, heart pounding, as the young Butler had been practicing how to implement her new bipedal legs, still stumbling forward every so often and galloping on all fours through the snow before righting herself back upwards again. Her form was gaunt, all sharp with the angles of youth, though it seemed at least vaguely suited for the powder-covered landscape.

Her outbursts of energy had always been something so hidden, so subdued, but with this discovery of a two-legged world, she couldn't help but feel the spontaneous rush of joy, wild with youth. She was a step closer to being 'successful' like her brother, Basil, having gained the bipedal stance, though she lacked everything else he possessed. Yes, she still needed to collect clothes, to claim at least some space for herself, but for now? The two-legs were enough to appease her.

It was that one, specific tree that had suddenly gained her attention, it's thickened trunk stalwart and bark coarse, though in its sprawling form, Silvia saw potential. Slim hands gripped onto the bark for a moment, fingers flexing to grasp with claws, testing their dexterity as limbs pulled, clawed feet scrambling to gain purchase on the trunk as she attempted to leap, ankles buckling when grip would fail. It was with great effort she clambered up onto a low branch, leg flinging over one side to straddle the branch, back resting against the wood as she tried to regain lost energy. Void-eyes peered about, showing glimmers of excitement in her usually vacant expression.

He wondered what to do with himself. It was not that he lacked in things to do, but lacked the desire to really put his nose down to the grindstone. So, he did the one thing that came to him so easily; walk around listlessly. The King knew it was pointless to do nothing so idly and turned his nose from heading to the coast to the inland border. Might as well stroll around that and do a lazy sweep to give him a reason to wander.

Silvano had always been a grim guy, and that was probably why he always felt like a shadow hung over him. A dark cloud, even, but he had his moments of good bliss when the sun shone through. He missed those moments, but his personality did not really allow him to have fun like others seemed to. Serious to a fault, it was his making that seemed to unmake him at every turn. Some times, though, he pretended he was actually a completely fun loving guy, but it never seemed to happen here.

The King's memories shifted to some of these happier moments, letting the warm thoughts feed him and turn his lips to a smile. He strolled, fairly absentminded, until he came up to some rustling noises. Snow piled awkwardly in small clumps around a wide tree, causing the King to pause and stare at them. They were fresh fallen. He gazed up and saw a gangly, very lanky youth up in it. His brows furrowed. Which kid was this? Not either of his, but he could hardly say he knew most of the others'.

"What are you doing up in that tree. You'll hurt yourself," he called up, good thoughts still muffling the strict tones in his voice. It even sounded lighthearted for once.

The voice startled her.

Icy voids peered down to the male below, mentally making notes of his appearance in reference to a stranger she had met prior, of whom she had found romping through snow. However, the memory of the younger male did not make her take him any less seriously, her vaguely cheery expression suddenly vacant again as she shuffled on her branch, gaze trying to judge a safe way down from the tree. Brow furrowed in slight, narrow features taking on a look of concentration before she swung her leg back over her perch, before hopping down, a tiny 'hup' issuing from her vocals.

The landing could have perhaps been a little more graceful, as she had shuffled forward, arms spread out for balance, dark tresses tossed forward into her face for a moment, though the fact that she had remained standing caused lips to part into a toothy smile, suddenly amused by the moment of coordination. There was a tiny giggle of amusement before she straightened up, claws losing grip on the packed snow and ice, and she slipped back onto her rump, causing a quick startled sound in response. Her grin was wiped clean off of her face for a moment, and a snowy hand came up to pull that wavy hair away from one of her eyes, attention returning to the stranger. Those void-eyes were almost nervous for a moment as she cleared her throat.

"S-sorry, tha' was clumsy," came English-accented tones, as her hands were brought to fold into her lap, legs sprawling out before her, eyes gazing to those toes, which wiggled in the snow. "Please don't tell my mum."

Hark folded back submissively as she got to her feet again, staggering slightly as she dusted herself off, eyes looking back to the stranger who had scolded her tree-climbing attempts. Her feeling of foolishness only grew once she had, in fact, realized that this was quite an authority figure, someone that her father had actually looked up to greatly, and she cleared her throat, bending at the waste in a slight, unsteady bow.

"Oh! I'm... I'm sorry! Eh, I... I don' really know your name, but..." Mottled youth's voice was highly apologetic, soft and quiet. Vacant blues looked to the stranger again, puzzled and embarrassed all the same.

Silvano watched as the girl scrambled her way down. A hand reached up to a thicker lower branch, grasping it firmly between his fingers. Her descent began as something potentially graceful, but the youth was truly too young to be considered elegant or graceful or anything else. Female, young, the King saw that much was true and her scent placed her the two he vaguely remembered allowing into the Court not too terribly long ago.

The girl landed, awkwardly, and giggled like the kid she was. Silvano smiled at the thought. Children always made him feel younger, and at least act more like a pleasant canine. But as soon as she slipped, the King reached out to try to stop her fall, but gravity had other plans and he watched her tumble onto her rear. She looked almost guilty at climbing a tree, that the King felt a good pang of sympathy in her. He remembered his own tree climbing endeavors as a kid, and then remember his encounter with a young Shiloh. His smile flickered and guilt reentered his heart.

"I was not really asking you to climb down, but I suppose that's fine, too." The youth rose and the King watched. Then he laughed, wondering if he was that hard to forget or to mistaken for another. He looked lighthearted again, marveling at her stuttering. No one really ever gave him this response and it amused him, clearly. "Please, you don't need to worry. I won't tell your mother. I used to do the same thing. Except I wandered past our borders into the unclaimed and then climbed a tree."

He rubbed at his scarred chest, looking down at Silvia. "You don't kn- Well, I'm Silvano, your King, princessa." He smiled pleasantly at her, trying to look kindly.

King?

Internally, she scolded herself, and perhaps screamed, at least momentarily. Her anguish, however, was only a slight glimmer on the surface. Hands tangled a little into the hair at the nape of her neck, void eyes staring to this King rather awkwardly. She paused, gawking for a moment.

"O-oh, King...! I..." Silvia was unsure of how to properly respond, suddenly flustered as her vacant features looked to the snow out of submission and some form of shyness, hark still lowered. She paused and cleared her throat for a moment, new skinny hands running over her muzzle for a moment before she held them together in a contemplative manner before her charcoal nose. Hesitantly, eyes returned to the newly deemed Silvano, before his words of tree-climbing adventures sank in.

Hark perked again, remaining silent for a second longer.

"... You climbed trees, too?" she asked, curiosity piqued. "King Silvano, would you mind giving me some pointers?"

Her voice had remained soft, polite, quiet throughout the interaction, with soft inflections on the breath of apology. However, there was still adventure to be had, and the King most certainly knew a thing or two (or perhaps three?) that he could share. Hands were removed from before her muzzle, large eyes suddenly pinned to the stranger with a sense of fascination.

"Can you teach me things? Like how to climb? Or, or, or how to fence? Do you know how to fence? It looks like such fun--" she paused a moment and cleared her throat, embarrassed again for rambling. "S-sorry, getting ahead of myself."

The girl suddenly seemed excited, for all that her eyes seemed blank to him. He wondered if she was blind, but understood his folly instantly. She was clearly seeing, just perhaps unfocused. Maybe she had met his younger son, and maybe they could be like birds of a feather. But there was nothing to show that she was like his own son, who had a different kind of air about him that went beyond unfocused.

"Climbed, I did. Last time I climbed, I caused a lot of trouble. And I also broke a branch." He looked down at himself, a tall bulky male with muscles that showed his active lifestyle. Unfortunately for him, and fortunate for the trees, he did not much climb them anymore. "But I when I was younger, smaller, shorter, you know, I did climb a few myself." Silvano almost sounded proud of himself at the thought, remembering so fondly climbing trees and just enjoying himself. Life seemed less enjoyable the more he lived.

But as soon as Silvia's gaze shifted into something actually full of expression did the King really look at her. She seemed to expectant and excited. How could he possibly refuse her? If any of his own children ever came to him looking so excited, he probably would have caved just as easily. Weak for the young, at least in the parenting sense.

"Of course, if you want," he said, beaming at her. He was no fencer but he did know plenty of sword tricks and dagger tricks. Granted, he could not teach her to fence since he hardly bothered with artistic swordplay and more on functional battle technique. Thankfully it hadn't been needed it. "But you have to tell me your name first and then you're going to start to climb the tree. Do you want to get to the top?"

"Oh, yes! How rude of me," Silvia said sheepishly, giving a slight start once he had pointed out how she failed to introduce herself. "I am Silvia Butler-" she started, giving a tiny bow of introduction. "I've forgotten my manners, mum would be ashamed."

There was a slight tone of embarrassment to her words, but it was easily clouded by her excitement once he had agreed to teach her, silvery-blue sights widening for a second when she looked to him, and back to the tree, quickly trotting over and trying to find holes in the bark to grab onto again eagerly.

"Yes! I would very much like to reach the top!" A toothy smile was flashed the King's way, the expression rather shy beneath that layer of joy. Void-eyes looked back up through the branches, and while the top of the tree had seemed so far off, she thought it easy to obtain. Feet attempted to scrabble at the bark again, a few bits of bark peeling from that wide trunk. The young merle slid back down onto the snow after a moment more and gaze looked back to Silvano, seeking guidance.

"You got in trouble climbing trees?" she asked softly, as if trying to draw attention away from her clumsy scrambling and vague frustration, mind still going a million miles an hour with her excitement.

A Butler girl. The two of them had a fair few of children it seemed. He had not spent much time with either Aoves or Harvey, but he was happy to see their participation in his home. It was always nice to see those who were not born in the Court put in the effort to make it a better place. He himself had not been born here, but to the west. While he still missed his family and the pack he had come from, it was long gone and this was his home now.

Silvano bobbed his head at her introduction, smiling at her with more ease. She turned with excitement and started to scramble up the tree, which the King watched carefully and thoughtfully. He made sure to make an appropriate face when she turned back around and peered at him with such a pleading look. She looked like she really needed a boost, and at her size, he could see that.

The King rolled his eyes and approached her. With deft quick hands, he grabbed her buy the waist and hefted her up toward the first branch and past it. As soon as he heard her scrabbling for the next branch and then lighten slightly in his hands, he let go, letting her get off on her own. It was only a matter of time until she would be able to grab the branches herself and climb up on her own.

"I got in trouble once because a girl thought I was a dead body stuck. Then I scared the crap outta her. And just last year, I actually broke a branch we two were sitting on," he answered, his gaze turning deeply warm. It was Shiloh again, and he felt himself heat, and then laughed to ease it away again. He did not want to think about her now, not now, not here, even if it always happened. "But don't worry, if you fall, I'll catch you. I caught my mate falling out of an apple tree once before in Crimson Dreams."

Those thin arms worked to pull and hoist herself up onto new, higher branches once he had given her a boost, finding the climb to be much easier. Little clumps of snow that still clung to the tree's limbs were falling free from its grasp and she made a few soft sounds of effort as her feet scrambled at the bark again, draped awkward onto a branch.

"You did? I dunno if I would be able to catch... Well... Anyone. Or anything," she mused quietly as she worked to ascend, gaze turned higher. "I'm... Not really all that strong or anything special, like my brothers and sisters. They all have something that make them special, I just seem to make them all... Uncomfortable."

Slender hands reached higher onto another branch, a slight startled sound squeaking from her when her grip slipped for a second, before recovering and readjusting her grip, body coiling on itself as she caught herself, the branch shaking slightly from her light weight.

"What's Crimson Dreams?" she asked quietly, straddling a branch as she glanced down to the King with curiosity. "It sounds like a lovely place. Were there lots of trees to climb there, too?"

She seemed hardly phased by her height in the tree, finding the new viewpoint fascinating. For a moment, she felt like some small sparrow, hiding away amongst the sanctity of the winter-clad branches, the world below so enigmatic and full of oddities.

The girl climbed up and spoke. Silvano felt a twinge of sympathy for the girl, who did not feel that she stood out from her siblings. He had been the eldest sibling but felt often like the middle child. Parker was quiet, reserved, silent even. Artemis had been the loud, obnoxious sister that seemed to dominate their parent's attention, though Silvano knew his parents loved all of his siblings, older too, the same.

"You'll find something to be good at. It took me a while. I'm the only one of my siblings to lead a pack, like our mother. But I was the eldest in a second litter so..," he tapered off, moving around the tree to watch the girl drape herself over a branch. It look a little uncomfortable to the man, but he did not call for her to move. "You are just as special as your siblings. Kinda like every snowflake. So, there by, you are a special snowflake all on your - oh don't put your hand there, it seems like a weak branch."

The branch quivered beneath her weight and the male carefully positioned himself to catch the girl if she fell. Yet, she steadied and he let out a breath he had not realized he had been holding. He smiled at her question, remembering his childhood home. "Yes, it was. It was actually not that far away, too. There's a lake to the west; that's where my family used to be." He watched her climb higher.

"Be careful and test branches. If they seem flimsy, try moving closer to the trunk, they're more stable there."

Head gave a slight nod as Silvia turned her gaze skyward once more, taking the advice to heart as she carefully reached forth to jostle another branch, putting its sturdiness to the test. Once it passed, she yanked herself upon it, and continued her journey upwards.

"Do you miss your home?" came her next question, finding his tales fascinating. She herself didn't think she would end up doing anything larger than life, like being royalty in a pack. Heavens no, that was more for her sister. Vivienne was the shaker, the mover, the one who could command mountains to shift, and they would. Vivienne had a silver tongue, a honeyed voice, the makings of one who got things done. But Silvia herself, oh no, she was the soft-spoken counterpart, the one who stuck to shadow, drew little attention. She had such few words, and even less confidence. There was some comfort in the King's words though. If she was indeed a snowflake, that made her peculiarities okay, it made her special. There was a quirk to her lips, a faint smile knowing that at least the King didn't find her totally odd.

"I've never been to a lake, before. I kind of want to adventure someday," she continued to muse, her voice somewhat pensive and distant. "But I don't wanna leave the Court, since this is my home! I don't think there could be any place better."

Did he miss it? Of course he did. There were days where he just dreamed of his youth with Savina and Kansas, and all the rest of his family. He missed the bliss of having little responsibility and nothing but time to do whatever he wanted. His sister's fall and the war with Aniwaya had changed all of that. When did the young Sadira grown into an adult, was it not before his time that he had to become strong for his mother, in case his younger sister did not awaken? Yes, he had, and it had cut his blissful youth fairly short.

" 'Course I do. I miss my family, but my mother and siblings all left for Italy. I stayed here because I had started my own family." And now here he was, in the midst of his family breaking apart, because he did not keep it in his pants. He almost whined at the thought of his mother, but bit it back. Silvia was just a child, no need to burden her. "But this is now my home, so what can I say?" That was enough of that.

"When you're old enough, you can go. Or if you want, any adult can take you to the lake." He had been meaning to go visit his old home, wondering if anyone was there now. He wondered how dusty his old room had gotten at the Manor and if the apple trees still thrived. "I could take you. I have not been back in..," he paused, counting quickly. "Too long. But you don't have to leave forever. It's barely a few hours away on horseback."

The girl was up high now, and he worried. If she fell, the blame would fall on him, if he failed to catch her. So he eyed her, wary of where she stood. At least the tree seemed sturdy.

Her ascent was quick to give pause as he spoke of adventure, before she gazed down. A few hours? Wouldn't have to leave forever? Adventure?!

Her descent was much more agile than it had previously been, as she had remembered her route up the twisting branches, however, it was when she had gotten back down to the final branch that she fumbled again, and hopped down onto all fours, somewhat stumbled by the slight slip-up. Silvia straightened up again and shook the snow from her hands, trying to fix her hair which had yet again fallen forth into her face, hands pulling it to the sides and coming to a rest at the back of her neck. There was a huffing sigh of a breath, as if collecting herself, before she spun around to look at the King, those usually vacant eyes full of life for once, a vivacious glimmer that was awakened with the promise of adventure. The youth hopped up to the King happily, not paying much attention to briefly scuffed palms, more happy over the aspect of seeing the new and fascinating.

"Can we go? I'd very much like to go!" Thoughts strayed to potential treasures that may have hidden around those knew lands, more specifically bottles and she beamed, obviously giddy with the idea.

The girl nimbly climbed back down, somehow avoiding to slip and fall. He watched, carefully beneath her in case she did tumble down. But she seemed to be alright on the downward route. Granted, her return to the ground was not the most graceful, yet again, but she managed to come down without a single trouble. Maybe that was a secret skill Silvia did not know she had.

Silvano smiled encouragingly to her, pleased with what he saw. Unfortunately, his leader mentality took over and thought how to cultivate this. Nothing concise yet, but he wondered if she liked the heights and seeing all. "Good job, that was a great first climb." The tree was easy and not very challenging, but it was still a feat nonetheless.

That dull look in her eyes was gone and the King felt he was seeing who Silvia actually was beneath that dull, bored exterior he had seen before. But she was so excited for a trip he could not take her on yet. His smile faltered and slid into a slight frown, his brows furrowing as he looked apologetic. "I cannot take you now, if that was what you were thinking," he said softly. "You will need to ask your parents, I can't just take you out of the Court without them knowing about it."

The King's negative news did little to falter or snuff out that excitement, though Silvia did sit back slightly and clear her throat, still smiling, though realizing how out of hand she was letting her joy get. It was time to reel back in that emotion, which had been bridled and held tight through much of her youth, and she gave a sheepish life.

"Sorry! Gettin' ahead of myself," she agreed. "But I can do tha'! I'll ask my mum and dad."

She paused, hands balling up slightly as she brought them to her chest, paws shuffling in slight with a tiny, excited spasm of a jig, before arms were brought back down to her sides, the giddy giggle replaced with a calming sigh, working to rein in what could have well been the adrenaline of a day full of stimulation and excitement.

"But you will take me to this place, right?" she asked, voice still curious and incredibly hopeful. "Promise, King Silvano?"

Mind fabricated what could have lay just beyond the forest borders of Cour des Miracles, straying from cold swamps to open plains, high mountains, tall pines. Silvia wanted to see it all, wanted to see what this land had to offer, other cultures. This southern lake, this prior home to the King, was very well the beginning of a blossoming wander-lust.

"Please?"

He declined to take her, at least at that moment. Yet it did very little to dampen the girls spirits. It did so little that the King just looked at her blankly for a few moments and then smiled as she pleaded with him to take her. How could he really refuse? He doubted that Aoves or Harvey would say no to the trip, especially as he was their leader and hardly some stranger. He would be a guardian, too, with his own children as reference. Even though he was a hot mess with his own, to be frank.

"I will," acquiesced the King with a sigh, shaking his head at the girl's intense interest. "But only if your mother or father say it's okay. Like I said, I can't take someone else's child out of the pack." She understood, but he wanted to make sure to drill it into her head to ask. It was just the way things were done.

"We'll go after they say yes." He had no doubt that the two would approve. It was one less child to watch, unless they saddled him with the others. He doubted it, but it was a smaller burden for the two of them regardless. "I should go. Make sure you ask, and don't climb any more trees unattended. I can't be there to catch kids falling out of trees all the time."
