<div class="header">Introduction</div>
Believe it or not, winter is the absolute best time for wolves to hunt, but it's almost over! In celebration of Skadi and in order to feed all these hungry mouths — as well as to repay the favour to New Dawn for inviting VN to their party — Vinátta will be hosting a Hunting Festival for a whole month! “Why, what an awesome festival, thank you leaders, how do I get involved?” I hear you say? Well, read on and you will find out.

 
<div class="header">Participation</div>
 This fill-the-forum festival is very easy to get involved in, which is great for everyone in Vinátta and New Dawn! All you have to do is create and finish hunting threads during the event (which can be with your packmates or cooperating with the opposing pack, both count). This will earn you contest points (these are separate from normal game points). The second way to earn points is by playing the Preybot in another’s hunt thread! And that's it!
 
The character with the highest point total at the end of the festival will win the crown of Hunt Master and <s>rule for all eternity</s> be revered as the most awesome Luperci ever! Will it be a Vináttan Viking, or a true wolf of New Dawn? We shall soon see! 
 
<div class="header">Okay, but how does this work?</div>
Here is the <a href="http://www.soulsrpg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=12779">IC announcement</a> in Vinátta; New Dawn's invite is OOCly assumed. ;P Once the event begins, you start a thread! This can be within Vinátta or New Dawn or any of the surrounding neutral areas, tagged [VN/ND Hunt Fest] or something similar. You are welcome to leave it AW, or plan threads, either is acceptable. Look out for All Welcome Preybot threads, and feel free to make your own and request a player for a Preybot in this thread. Remember to link your threads here so we can track them. ;)
 
It is highly encouraged that you spree these threads to keep them fast paced. You will then play out the hunt scene (without actually killing) in the thread; if you reach 10 posts and 2,000 words (cumulative post count over all participants and posts within the thread), the hunt will be successful and the Preybot will post with hunters killing it. If the thread is unsuccessful, the Preybot will post an exit and the thread will be concluded.
 
Once archived, you can claim your points and it will be added to your tally below. The hunt includes all Fauna of 'Souls, so do not feel obligated to target only the biggest and strongest prey. Threads count for the same amount whether you fell a bull moose or a chipmunk, so characters of all sizes and abilities can participate. (Puppies can accompany adults and get credit!) There are a few rules to this festival to give everyone a fair chance of winning, so do look over those below before participating.
 
<div class="header">The Nitty-Gritty</div>
<ol>
<li>The event runs from Saturday, March 15th to Tuesday, April 15th. Only threads started and archived within that period are eligible. </li>
<li>Normally to play Preybot, you would have to make a formal <a href="http://www.soulsrpg.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7">request</a>. For the duration of this event only, VN/ND members have all been granted auto permission! :D <a href="http://www.soulsrpg.com/forum/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=211">PM the Vinatta account</a> for login info, and be sure to send us the thread link for proof!</li>
<li>Players may participate using the Preybot account in one thread at a time. Once that thread is complete, they may enter another. Multiple players can use the Preybot account concurrently.</li>
<li>There will be a maximum of three characters per thread (not counting NPCs/Preybot), in order to keep threads quick.</li>
<li>Threads must be over ten posts overall in order to be counted as successful. A thread containing five to nine posts is an unsuccessful hunt (but points may still be claimed). A thread containing less than five posts is unsuccessful with no points.</li>
<li>Threads that have had no reply for ten days will be defaulted and Preybot should post an ending with an escape or death (depending on thread length, see above).</li>
<li>Characters may participate in a maximum of two active hunting threads at one time. Once one is archived, they may enter another.</li>
<li>A player may not enter a thread using the Preybot account that contains (or will contain) their own character.</li>
<li>On a similar note, if you have two characters participating in this Festival, you may not thread with yourself. Multiple characters will tally their points separately and any points earned through playing the Preybot will need to be designated to one character when claiming.</li>
<li>We encourage participants to create a "postlog" in this thread - simply post once with the character and edit in thread links and point totals throughout the event. We will edit the running totals to reflect these!</li>

Bonus Example

<li>Bob plays Wolf (VN) and enters into the Vinátta and New Dawn Hunt Festival. </li> 
<li>Bob enters Wolf into an AW Preybot Thread with Coyote (VN) and Dog (VN). Each post three times, and Preybot posts twice (11 posts total): the hunt is successful (+3 points for trio, +1 point for packmates only)! </li> 
<li>Bob can play two contest threads actively at the same time, so he also enters a thread started by Wolfdog (ND), and they each post 2 times, Preybot posts twice (6 posts total), but nobody has posted in five days: this hunt is unsuccessful and their quarry escapes. They can still claim points (+2 for unsuccessful, +3 for VN/ND cooperation). </li> 
<li>Bob has time for one more thread but his character is already in two active ones. He starts one as the Preybot account and posts twice (+5 points regardless of completion). </li> 
<li>When these threads are archived, Bob will have earned 14 points in total. He gets a chibi drawing of Wolf for participating! :D</li></bl>

I have some questions >.> can I participate with my ND character and VN character. And I so do I count their points seperately? Also, is Preybot required to be in a thread for it to count? (sorry if these have obvious answers...)

And yes, this is a Preybot-centered challenge so someone will need to play it in each thread in order to count. We are hoping this will help everyone cooperate and have fun! :) Many of us have never written from the viewpoint of prey before, so it should be a breath of fresh air to write as the hunter and the hunted.

And if you're aiming to win the event, you can rack up a lot of points by playing the Preybot... ;)

"10 posts and 2,000 words" for completion means 200 words per post, obvs, which is the encouraged board-wide minimum (but not enforced). Naturally Preybot posts should be short for timely responses anyway. ;)

Tally updated, and a small policy tweak - rather than the original five days rule, we're extending it to ten (so that weekends are included). Threads must be replied to within ten days before they are automatically ended. :) Hope that helps you guys! There's still about three weeks left to rack up posts!

Bump! The event runs until Tuesday, April 15th, so we're in the final stretch! At that point any threads still ongoing will be judged based on number of posts completed before the deadline (midnight EST).

Also I just finished most of the participation prize art. ;D Everybody gets pictures, and it's not too late to join in the fun!
