Tonight she was a morose figure against the blue streaked backdrop of the sky. Her pale visage was sullen and melancholic and her normally smiling face was bereft of its upwards curve. The fight a few days ago had weighed on her mind along with Ulilohi's returning to the Great tribe and her brother leaving with her Gemma was feeling the loss of those two keenly. She missed her friend and although she still had several withing the tribe it was like losing part of herself. She had grown close to Duyugodv and even closer to Ulilohi. The two of them had taken their relationship to a carnal level not a day or so before she'd left. It had left her heart aching with hurt, to be so close and then have her partner leave. So she nursed her injured feelings and continued to frown but she was not lax in her duties, of course that wouldn't do at all.

She fed the Great Fire from the pile of chopped logs that she had collected earlier in the day. There was always wood for the Great Fire and for any who sought to use it. Gemma's body had been shaped into what was needed, the coywolf carrying subtle muscles that aided her in the heavy lifting and chopping. There were different kinds of wood that she had chopped and branches that she had collected. The female had traveled outsides of the pack although away from Anathema towards Halifax. She was still wary of her former pack and their darkness, Alaki and Naniko were gone but the fear still remained.

The fire reflected in her eyes as it flared, consuming the fuel that she fed it, keeping it strong and alive. Gemma would sooner slice her remaining ear off than allow it to wither and die. It was unthinkable to her, she had taken part of herself and put it into the fire as well as pulling some of the flames to put inside of herself. There was the spark inside of her, she was truly connected to it.

The flames of the Great Fire flickered and waved trying to follow the shower of sparks that flew up into the air every time the lone figure placed another stick of wood into the hot coals while Ibycus watched from a distance. He was not all that happy himself because his friend was not her usual happy self. He did not know why Gemma had recently lost the sparkle in her eyes. He wondered if it was the leaving of some that she had gotten close to. He had noticed the despondency coming from her

He had noticed the despondency coming from her and was at a loss of what to do. Whenever he felt down, he would just loose himself in a book or his work and generally stay away so that he would not infect others with the blues. He was not one for having someone try to cheer him up, mainly because he had been alone for a good portion of his life and he sought out solitude when he had his melancholy moments so as not to disturb others.

It was his own personal preferences of solitude during those times coupled with his inexperience of interacting and helping others when they were feeling blue that had kept him from talking to Gemma to find out what was wrong and to try and help. He was afraid that he would make things worse for her and loose her as a friend and had waited in hopes that she would come out of it on her own. But as the days passed she had not which precipitated the war within himself of whether or not to help. Concern for his friend won out and Ibycus quietly padded across the compound and settled down on the bench next to Gemma. Hello Signora he greeted her, his voice almost a whisper as he stared into the flames.

The normally bubbly woman had drawn into herself in the past few days, she let go of the extraneous obligations she usually indulged herself with such as helping Ibycus with the horses and visiting Simcha to get lessons on carving or sitting with Aranck and discussing the current news and updates of the tribe. She was not herself and for that she mourned yet she couldn't bring herself out of her funk. So she sat, alone by the light of the fire slowly feeding the special logs into the Great Fire, stoking up the honored entity as she did so, but with less enthusiasm for her life than she'd had before.

As thought in sync with her thoughts the Great Fire tonight did not seem all that keen to gain in flame and heat what she fed to it, it stayed low burning as they kept it throughout the day and Gemma found concern within herself for the sacred light. The frowned, and leaned forwards to concentrate on the embers, being careful in her placement of logs lest she smother the delicate small flamed that licked at its edges. She missed Ibycus' arrival and therefore started a little when he sat down next to her,

"Oh.. hello Ibycus." She was silent after her greeting whereas she would normally ask him about his day and generally sit and chat with him. Her silence weighed heavily on her, she felt like she was punishing her friend for her own bad spirits.

He sat quiet for a few minutes as thoughts wound their way through the dark recesses of his mind. The fire did not seem to blaze with the intensity that it usually did nor did it seem to warm his bones like it had in the past when he was in it's vicinity. Ibycus pondered over how that the flames did not seem to flare with the intensity that the blaze would normally flare when there was wood added to the base of them. The flames seemed to reflect the mood of whom was currently feeding new fuel to the fire.

Ibycus remained quiet as he watched the flames flicker and dance over the wood. He wondered what could be wrong with his friend and how to get her to be happy once again. He did not know what to say that would help Gemma. He was more afraid that he would actually make things worse by saying the wrong thing. But the silence began to weigh down on him and he thought maybe he should say something but not sure what. Finally he decided to ask What is wrong? He had no idea what could be wrong nor what he could do to help.
