Her eyes were wide. What was she thinking? She didn't know....

Walking with her head low she couldn't sleep well at night, sounds filled her ears that she couldn't see. With the Gypsies she realized that they offered sanctuary but she was scared to let anyone close. Fear gripped her and she always felt she couldn't turn her back on anyone or anything. With this fear, she slept against objects eyes always able to see what was going on and her ears picking up anything and everything. Sleep was very little for the mostly white bearish wolf.

As she felt herself drift into sleep she felt the warmth of the sun on her. It felt like just a moment ago it was very dark, and now the sun beat onto her dark spotting warming her. The nights were becoming overwhelmingly cold and it was moments like that that she missed her thick tail, but it was gone...and for some obvious reasons.

Pushing herself to get up she stretched, ears and eyes still cautiously alert. Taking in a deep breath of the crisp morning air she continued her journey...a journey with no decided destination.....

*time lapse*

There was the strong smell of salt in the air, along with moisture that tickled her nose. The adolescent felt a surge of giddiness that made her run toward the sweet salty source. Her stub high in the air with a brief moment of courage and puppy abandonment!

As he paws hit the sand she stopped to sniff and investigate this new feeling. As he nose touched the cold wet surface she noticed the gradual rough feeling and she snorted and sneezed at the feeling before shaking her head. Her head lifted, her two toned eyes taking in the sights and sounds of this very new place. It overwhelmed her in a way she couldn't comprehend making her laugh and jump, bucking in the air, before taking off along the coast like the young wild pup she was!

Curiosity

One ear- seeming too large for the little face it sprouted from- twitched tepidly at a dragonfly that buzzed near, while the other followed the progression of the snowy mongrel from her perch on the rocky rise. After her departure from the Outpost Helena had beelined away from the mass of untrustworthies and toward the beach, and her Lupus form had been a welcome return.

She had caught sight of the other canid after cresting a cliff in her journey along the coast and had stood for the last few minutes, transfixed by the sight of her... playing? Red eyes locked on the cavorting white mark, her brow furrowed in puzzlement, she stood in rigid immobility and watched as the other spurred into motion on the distant sands and ran.

As the sound of the other's wet sneeze travelled to Helena's keen ears on the salty breeze, she felt one corner of her mouth crook up. Unconsciously, her shoulders- previously stiff with anxiety and pent energy- relaxed, and her eyes softened. The silly thing didn't seem hostile- not in the slightest. She gave her shoulders a gentle shake to shuck her bow, bent to pick it up in her jaws, and lowered it in to a rocky orifice on the rise where it would be safe. Then, one sand-colored paw in front of the other, vision lowered to the treacherous ground but occasionally checking the location of the other, the little coyote began to slowly pick her way down the rubble-strewn cliff face.

On reaching the plush sand, watching the white beast warily from the corner of her eye, she strode delicately to within the ocean's reach. Head and tail lowered in a relaxed fashion, posture non-threatening, she squished her toes in to the soupy sand and waggled them in the icy water, enjoying the pleasantly chill sensation on her sun-baked pads. Nose down to the ocean, she glanced sideways at the other inquisitively, copper tail wagging slowly- to and fro.

Bear found herself kicking up sand as she tore through the sand. Pouncing at the waves as they came for her paws. Giggles filled the air!

Oh how she felt so free, so liberated!

It was during this excitement that she turned to see a golden toned canine. Her ears went back and she froze her stubble of a tail fell. She thought about running away, but that was just for a mere second before her eyes took in her body posture. Instincts kicked in. This canine didn't show threatening behavior. Still, she was nervous and unsure of herself. All 50 pounds of her shrunk into herself, back arching as her head turned away, ears back as she held a low stance. A low frustrated whimper came from her and she laid down in the muddy sand.

Her laying right where she was was a mistake, and she soon realized that as a large wave crashed over her knocking her suddenly making her stand sneezing and shaking her head. ..damn it..

Bear shook off her body and trotted more inland her sky eye watching the other cautiously as she trotted in her wolfish fashion. She stopped at an appropriate distance before fully facing the other rounded ears perking to watch and see what the other does.

((OOC: I realized on her profile I have her adult height and weight in there, sorry about that x.x))

Curiosity

Slender legs strode lighty across the foamy tide as she trotted slightly inland, evading the wave with little notice, her focus still on the pup. A soft chortle crept from her muzzle in breathy whuffs- though not with cruel intent but merely admiring the cub's gentle manner- and her bronzed ears flicked back against her nape momentarily in amusement. She halted near the other with much space still between them, sensitive to wolf's withdrawn and cautious antics.

The benevolent red gaze flitted to the broken stub that was the pup's tail and she resisted the urge to ask about it's demise, though she felt the taint of her own ever-lingering despondency rise a little higher in her chest. The golden countenance lowered a bit closer to the ocean's cool trails as she studied the strange cub, curious but hesitant to push her with questions.

"Have you lost your way, little wolf?"

Bear swallowed her fear some as the other came near, but kept a respective distance. The smallish canine seemed to be observing her just as Bear was doing the same. Finally after a moment or two, she asked her a question. Her rounded ears fell back and she thought for a moment, ....was I lost? It was a simple, yet very profound question. Her head dropped no longer looking to the other while her eyes glazed in thought. Really she was not, but being lost could mean so much...she was without family...and she was lost without family...she had no home, and really...that could be considered lost...

Finally Bear decided on an answer, "...no...not really...". It was a lie, but this stranger didn't need to know she was alone, and without family or home. That could be dangerous, couldn't it? "Are you lost?" She asked in return.

Red orbs fixed on the youngster’s face, her own face lowered in sync with the other’s in rapt attentiveness, watching the emotions cross her face as she thought. Helena thought she caught a minuscule waver in the pup’s voice that led her to believe she wasn’t being entirely honest, but she made no change to her person that would broadcast her beliefs. She smiled faintly at the other’s reciprocating question, though it didn’t reach her eyes.

”I don’t really have anywhere to be lost from, but I suppose you could say I've been lost for a while now."

Her coyote’s eyes travelled the pup’s scarred and pierced ears for a moment before returning to meet her gaze, finding one half of the two-toned view a match to her own red.

”I’m Helena Lykoi. Are you hungry?”

Then- in an uncharacteristically jovial manner- Helena leaped in, booped the pup lightly on the nose with her own, and sprang away to trot towards the surf. ”Any good at catching fish?”, she turned and called over her shoulder as she went. The young wolf did not seem to be looking for help, and Helena didn’t much like the idea of allowing her to continue on alone, but she could at least make sure the kid had her fill to eat today in an indirect way.

Any eerie form watched from a distance, under the cover of some bushes not too far from the beach.

Lubin had been watching the scene unfold from where she sat, it was a darling sight and it took her mind off of the hunger deep within her. Which she was happy to be distracted from that.

The healer was not proud of her cannabalism, though her ancestors were cannabals, they never stooped to killing each other, no, they simply waited for the weak to die.

Her ears perked from behind the bovine skull mask she wore when she noticed the sand colored canine went back to the strange moving water. It looked scary, she didn't understand how these two were so eager to allow if to lap at their paws.

Lubin had even jumped up onto her hind legs when she thought the ocean had eaten the young pup, but relaxed when she saw the pup had escaped from the watery jaws.

Soon, Lubin found herself nearing the twosome, curious of their behavior.

Bear's eyes watched and listened to the canine before her as she spoke of not being lost from anywhere...but yet she could be considered a lost canine. That was a lot like her in a way. A light smile wanted to nudge its way onto her muzzle, but she didn't want to give way to her emotions. It was almost warming to meet another that was potentially like her. The other quickly introduced herself, but before she could respond with her own name she was suddenly startled by the actions before her!

Bear's fur bristled quickly as she felt the cold nose of the other touch hers, and as that happened she went cross eyed for a second. She didn't know what to do as she watched the other trot off in a playful manner leaving Bear to try and process all this with a dumbfounded stance of confusion and bristled fur.

As her mind wheeled trying to cope with all this, she asked a question that Bear had to try and process. This proved too much and she finally replied with a "..uh..what?" She blinked then shook herself. Her fur fell in place and she began to trot over to the rusty sand coated female before she stopped looking over to see another canine, gray in coat but appeared to be wearing some sort of skull. Bear soon became overwhelmed with the site and her lips curled flashing her fangs while her fur bristled. She made no snarl or growl, she simply displayed her discomfort at the sight of the other.

ooc: Hello, Lublin!

ooc; heeeeey!!!!

Lubin smiled as she watched the pup turn to face her. Her ears flicked forward before she chuckled at the ferociousness of the child.

The black wolf slowly lifted her paw and waved at the aggressive pup. The Optime Coywolf kept a relaxed posture, not wanting to scare off the puppy and her friend.

She didn't approach them or move from where she stood, these two didn't smell like other canines, they smelled more like loners, like herself. It was a comfortable feeling, like she wouldn't be suddenly attacked by any packs.

She had waded knee-high in to the surf, aiming for a rocky alcove before realizing that she no longer heard the gritting of sand and gravel that signified that the young wolf was following behind her. She looked back over her shoulder, absorbed the pup's ruffled and aimed posture, and sent spatterings of seawater careening in all directions as she lunged hurriedly from the water to the rocky shore. She'd turned in time to catch the friendly wave that the stranger displayed, but still inspected her with untrust as she moved in measured strides to stand near and slightly in front of her first young acquaintance.

When the new canine made no more move to approach closer, merely stood and gazed at them both from afar in an amiable manner, Helena did the same. Though she had lived as a loner for much of her life, she was dominant in nature and could not quite keep all of the threat from her body language though her expression was unhostile, and it showed in her taut shoulders and widened stance.

"I am Helena."

After speaking she glanced briefly back at the pup, still uninformed of her name and unsure if she would want to disclose it, and left the decision to her.

"I've never seen anyone wear a mask quite like yours. Did you make it yourself?"

This last was directed at the newcomer, her wary focus once again on the dark stranger. Helena had spent a long span of time with no pack and no relations, and she wondered briefly at the change this had sparked in her when she remembered how a younger version of herself would have acted in this scenario. Apparently, being alone erodes the temper, she thought wryly.

She stayed tense and ruffled but her wrinkled lips smoothed as her expression was studious while she noticed her new friend's behavior. She came near Bear and stood slightly ahead of her, this made Bear's head rise and fur drop while she now studied her friend's behavior. The coywolf introduced herself, and Bear then took note that she looked back to her as if expecting her to speak her own name. Her rounded ears went back and her tail dropped a little. Her name... It took her a second, and she decided to call herself what the Gypsies and she dubbed herself. "..Bear.." She blurted finally.

The conversation then went to the stranger's mask. Helena..Bear studied her and suddenly found herself stepping closer to the woman feeling slightly protected. Her eyes still held a tense study of the stranger, yet she softened as she stayed slightly behind Helena and within inches of the coywolf. This was the first time in months that Bear felt comfort just by someone's presence.

Her eyes watched the dark stranger and she found herself taking in the mask and how it looked on her. It was scary, really...there was no other feeling or thought to how she felt about the mask. Her ears pressed forward as she stared.
