Creating a Merc Gang?
#1
I figured I would ask before fully plotting this out and gathering could be members.

Aro is leaving Casa and with some thought I've decided, if possible, to have him start a merc gang. Seems to be something very up the Aro Alley.

If I gather enough recruits is it possible to do this? Not really have a set in stone place for them, unless that is something I should have done. Which I have thought on, and have an idea where they can keep their 'camp'.

Being a gang, I wouldnt expect to have five or so members, but something I figured I'd ask and find out about before following through.

The leader handbook had a section on groups of loners that you might find helpful. :) I'm on my phone so quoting the section here is difficult. >_<

I have a few follow up questions to this:

Quote:No more than seven played characters and seven canine NPCs (of any type) are cohabiting at a given time.

Is this number combined? Like can there be a maximum of 7 played characters + 7 NPCs totaling 14 "members" of this loner gang?

Also quoting from the guidelines:

Quote:Loner groups are not afforded any benefits, such as those of packs.

What does this mean? What kind of "benefits"?

Also can a Wiki sub-area page be made of the "den" in which the gang claims?

From an OOC perspective the benefits of packs, I think, would be stuff like pNPCs and aNPCs?

Based on how the guideline is phrased, I would assume that the number is not combined, so you could have 4cNPC's and 3tNPC's and then seven played characters, or any combination therein so long as it does not exceed the maximum amount of seven played characters and seven NPC's.

One of the OOC benefits of being a member of a pack is accruing game points that may be collected and submitted for baubles like custom user titles and icons.

From an IC perspective (and I may be wrong, a member of the SA would know more), I'd imagine it's something along the lines of how the group of loners will be perceived.

They cannot officially claim a territory on the game map and expect it to be respected by members of a pack, who realistically have more members to back them up.

So, while they may have a place that they frequent and call theirs, the group would have to consider their proximity to other packs and how interactions with them might affect them. A group of wolves near Inferni, for example, probably wouldn't go over well.

I guessed it was something along the lines of this, yeah :) The first thing that came to mind was game points - but then, not every pack had the pack game at one point, so I wasn't sure if it could have meant something else. Thanks for your input!

bumping ~ this question was still not answered:

Quick note: SA is discussing Wiki den claims for Loner groups and will have an official answer shortly.

Also just wanted to agree with Lorraine on both questions she answered regarding number of cohabitating characters and "pack benefits." Both are answered well and correctly! We'll probably revise the wording on the Loner group guidelines so that's less confusing.

Aside from pack games, other pack benefits include: having a forum + mod powers for leaders, being recognised officially around the board, no numerical restrictions on membership, various OOC resources being provided (hosting for pack websites, etc) or recognised (Twitter), ability to use the Pack News and Pack Maintenance forums, and other stuff like that.

Sorry for the long delay on this!!

Loner groups can be noted on the Wiki under Characters, so for example, a group called Secret Mercs could be under Wiki>Characters>Secret Mercs and den claims may be listed on that page. This is similar to how single Loners may list den claims on their individual Wiki page or forum profile.

While Loner groups may be mentioned on specific territory or subterritory Wiki pages, we want to avoid marking den claims on those pages, as that might cause confusion regarding trespassing procedures and the status of the Loner group VS packs.

Ok, so just to clarify I can note on say the Thornhill District page that there is a group in the area and travelers may want to be wary ~ but I can't specify which factory/warehouse they're held up in. Correct?
