Why does your character have their titles + icons?

I will babble because I totally did not start this thread to talk about myself nope. >__>

Myri's titles: "The Gunslinger's Lament" is a song from Red Dead Redemption's soundtrack. HOWEVER I alsooo like it because "gunslinger" from The Dark Tower series -- where her second title is kinda from. "Wheel of life" and all of that.

Her icons: Chaos star for obv reasons <3, then the bull skull because it just looks.. kind of vaguely Old West like and that was the idea. The hover for her bull skull is the last line from The Dark Tower.

I only have one character that has a title and that is Ayasha. Her title fits her well as being a really good scout.

I don't have him yet officially but Sie and I have talked about his title and it'll be something having to do with his general grumpiness :D EDIT: I forgot to say that it is Miqui >.>

I am doing Kae now because I only just redid her titles a few days ago with a transfer token. They are nerdy as shit omg: Lady Lykoi because Ser/Lady etc. >_> Then "rotten with rust" because it was a phrase somewhere in ASOIAF and I thought it was a neat sounding little phrase and it fit Kae for being old and ©rusty.

Then chaos star and a skull with a crown and "death queen" in bad Latin as the hover because I was superawesome in 2009. 8D

I was around during Bleeding Souls and had no clue how to get a title. It seemed like a pretty unobtainable thing (though that was probably just my naivety and internet know-nothing).

Since the pack games and all that, I've not really felt the need to put icons or titles on my character, especially not in SK because of the point system also being used as a large part of ranking up. Plus I can't think of anything to put on my characters because I'm generally uncreative like that. Every once in awhile I see someone else's and go "Oh, I wish I'd thought of that first" though.

I decided I'm gonna put "Que sera, sera" for Rosario which is a saying in Spanish that means "What happens, happens." I heard it a lot growing up and it pertains really well to her past, too! Not sure about the color scheme yet, though. Maybe the colors of the Mexican flag or something since that's her homeland. XD TBD!

Paragon Soul - because he is seriously the biggest goody two-shoes eeeeeever
N7 icon - Mass Effect, and because that is something that I feel Silv would try to be if he was a human in that universe. And because Mass Effect.
I plan to get him a paragon icon as well <3

I have one on her, just mistress of sins >> I want to put a renegade icon on her at some point.

Gale:
He has NOTHNG but I plan to give him two titles. One is "liberi fatali" which is a FF8 song title and it also means something like Fated or Children of Fate I assume. His second is. gah I don't know, latin for something along the lines of come to the garden of truth. Which is fun yay :B

Whee, this is a fun topic!

Skye has lots of titles :O Most of them just pertain to me or I chose them because they were fun - but I chose the Crown of Clay one for various reasons! CdA has a lot of clay in their territory, and they use clay in their crafts, so it's a bit iconic; she's also the alpha, so there's that. As a less literal meaning, though, there's a saying "feet of clay" - meaning that someone with 'feet of clay' is not who they say they are, or that they are hiding something. Skye often hides her emotions, so there's that too :O

Element has a title 'Ex Libris' which means 'from the books'! He loves books, and was created partially in inspiration from some characters I have read in books. :)

I don't have mine yet, but for Whispers, if I had to choose right now, it would be Nessun dorma which translates into None Shall Sleep in english. It is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, and is one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. It is sung by Calaf, il principe ignoto (the unknown prince), who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. However, any man who wishes to wed Turandot must first answer her three riddles; if he fails, he will be beheaded. As a death dealer, or someone who will eventually try and start his own death cult, Whispers is most fit for this! :D Color wise, it'd probably be a mixture between red, black and maybe smokey grey.

As for Leviothan, it's gotta be The Heartbreak Kid, slight reference to the Wrestling Heartbreak Kid, but eh. x) Only because he has the worst kind of troubles with intimate relationships. Or will.

And for Cody.. ._. I dunno. I just don't even really know.

The title Dear Dionysian Dreams is a shout out to Dionysus, who was the Roman god of wine. Well, of grapes, wine making, and ecstasy. In general, people thanked him and/or prayed to him for a good party. He is mentioned frequently by the playwright, Sophocles, so I thought he could use a little praise from me, too.

SoSuWriMo2011 BLING! is pretty self-explanatory. It was my first SoSu contest, and I couldn't think of much else. I wanted to celebrate that I had finished. Here's to a 2013! (Side thought... I did finish in 2012 too, but that title is on Titania's account.)

Credo quia absurdum is a Latin phrase that means "I believe because it is absurd". After all, truth is stranger than fiction.

aka Desdemona Moonsong was because, for a time, Orin went in disguise and under a false name, so I wanted to make that really obvious to avoid OOC confusion.

As for my icons... I have the comedy and tragedy masks with the roll-over that says Thalia and Melpomene (the actual names of the masks), made by Sunny herself. ;) Obviously, that's a shout out to my and Orin's love of writing/theatre. I have the voodoo doll luperci (OMG, also made by Sunny) because it was an award on Erzulie when I had her, and just had it transferred because it was cool. And then, last but most certainly not least, I have my wibbly wobbly, timey wimey machine, the TARDIS! Because I love the Doctor!

Elody has the "Troublemaker" title for a thread prompt I participated in, and it actually fits. She seems to get herself into a ton of trouble involuntarily. It's temporary, which is sadddd, but maybe someday I'll get my own. Don't know yet.
But something to do with her bad luck.
As for icons,
SHE'S A LUPERCI OKAAAY? IT'S BLING, KAY? but almost everyone has that.
I really, really, REALLY want the Lykoi chaos star icon, but I don't think I can afford it. I have $1.28 left on my PayPal (so poor omg)
and its going to be a while before my gamepoints add up eventually....SOMEDAY, most of the cool kids have it ;_;

One time, I got the scribble icon: it made me happy.

I love Machi's junk, too. @___@ Inverted Chaos star -- red on black, because I'm not a nerd making a reference to Targ and Blackfyre colors, nopeee. "The Prince of Discord" is his "title" like the Asta-Kaena babies before him, along with his siblings. c: Then Setnakhte is "set is strong" in Egyptian, I think, because his middle name is Sutekh/Set, as is his ~*godly representation*~ or something.

Tayui has "al niente" from musical notation that was in a piece I played once, which means "fade to nothing". I thought it was rather appropriate as an allegory for life in general ("This is the way the world ends / Not with a bang but a whimper" -- I really like "The Hollow Men" too) and for Tayui in general. She has never been one for huge dramatics, and even in what is probably her most dramatic moment (attacking Salsola), she really did fade away.

Halalala, I'm going to post here noaw.

Panda has only one icon, the pewter arrowhead with the roll over that reads "In possession of the key to the heart". It's a cheesy rollover icon that is a symbol of Panda's and Venom's eternal bond, which is better than just the rollover heart that everyone else has that tells that they are mates with another charrie(to me at least).

Her titles read, Resident Panda Bear, because she was the only Panda looking character in AT for awhile (until Lillith was born) and I really liked the title so I bought it permanently after the three months of having it was up. (since it was a temp at first) Her second title is "Under Pressure" and the roll over reads "This love's become a war" That was a 30stm song reference that I really liked and it didn't fit all that well with Mars, so I was like "yey here you go panda!"

btw, i have a whole list of icons and titles stored away for my charries. It's a pretty extensive list, and I don't even have half of them on all of my chars ;.;

occam's razor = I really feel like this theory applied to Salvia when I first started playing her. She's very simplistic and a "cut to the chase" sort of person. Additionally, I really really really like the 30StM song (J CAN BACK ME UP ON THIS). :|
know the tiger = This is actually a play on the Latin "tanquam ex ungue leonem", which translates to "We know the lion by its claw". This (according to Wikipedia) was "said in 1697 by Johann Bernoulli about Isaac Newton's anonymously submitted solution to Bernoulli's challenge regarding the Brachistochrone curve." I thought the combination of it's origin and translation suited her really well.
a tightening atrocity = Comes from the David Bowie song "The Voyeur Of Utter Destruction (As Beauty)" because it is one of my theme songs for her :|
wendigo = Used to be Ezekiel's! I transferred it over and thought it fit Salvia as is, so I didn't change it at all. :3

Sie gave me the chicken icon forever ago and I keep it on my primary character so people know which one I use. :D

MARSY HERE is the keeper of most of my titles and icons, because he was one of my original Souls' characters.

We'll start with the shiny 2010 icon. First year of SSWM, and I whipped butt, sooooo I kinda had that on Daisuke's account at some point but decided to move it to Mars since Daisuke was inactivated after awhile and I didn't have plans of picking him back up. I did have the option in 2011 to switch it out for the next icon that is next to his that is SSWM Champ! but i was like "This 2010 one is unique. I want to keep it, and I want the new one" so i asked for both, because i'm like that.

The next icon is a big 30stm reference (which is what the titles are too) and it is a super scaled down version of This trinity seal that is on the cover of I believe "A Beautiful Lie" deluxe edition and is also used for promotion. The roll over is just a run on words because I didn't really know what the trinity seal is supposed to mean, because the band never really told us what it's supposed to symbolize, yet I felt it was important enough to place it there. There will be other icons like this one that i'd be able to explain better though.

Provehito in Altum is another 30stm reference, and the roll over is what it means. It generally is saying to keep pursuing dreams even if you can't see a clear road ahead of you, which is generally Mars' attitude about life. He kind just keeps going, trying to live a normal life even though he really can't.

"The Quiet Man" is a personal reference, as well as a direct reference of Mars' human influence, Jared Leto. They both are very quiet people (i've met JL in RL and he is a very quiet individual when you are just talking to him) and I felt like since they are both like that, and several times when i first started playing Mars I would refer to him as "the quiet man" and that other people should know that. It's almost like a warning before you thread with him that there's a chance that he'd be shy and silent. The roll over "because silence is necessary" is my own quote, since i believe that sometimes silence is necessary, as does Mars.

That's it on Marsy. One more to go, and that's Cotl. *wants more shiny icons and titles with vague meanings* ;.;

Mel: I was so excited when you got Occam's razor on Sal, but then i was like "DAMNIT NOW I CAN'T GET IT FOR MARS" so i had to cross it off my list (Sal could use it better than Mars could anyways xD) and YUS, EVERYONE, OCCAM'S RAZOR IS A FLIPPING AMAZING SONG :DDDDD

not really, I just racked up a bunch of Inferni Points and never used them.

Anyways, his title is "Jeepers Creepers" because I mean come on, if someone looks at you with those bi-colored eyes? You'd be scared as shit dude. Cotl is like a little creepy clown midget that has razor sharp teeth and will bite your face off, and for some reason i was like "Yeah, Cotl is creepy, and so is the song jeepers creepers, as is the movie, so I think i'll put this here for him." The roll over is the next line in the song "Where'd you get those peepers?" I also think that Halo or someone had asked him where he got his eyes from, so that sorta influenced it as well.

I am a loser and I've never taken a SoSu icon, I think. Or -- I used to have one on Kaena, but I snipped it off when she had 82349023842 icons for some reason (I had the scribble and a bunch of other shit, hah). Since then I haven't taken/applied them? /weird.

Aaand Draugr's are my favorite ever, too. >__>

She has the raven banner, the symbol I picked for the witchy ladies of her homeland. Then the weird dumb snake I've had on Harlowe, Tlantli, and then Eris before her. It follows me everywhere and with the same hover. X3 Thennn she has a Salsola ring icon because Salsola forever. c:

Her titles are simpler -- picked Dreams & Dirges because it sounded nice, and I liked the duality sort of thing going on, which is also sort of going on with Dra herself. The Sing the Death Song because Marilyn Manson that's why.

Ithiel doesn't have anything anymore because I transferred it all off, but he used to have a chaos star (obvious reasons), Dies Irae for a title along with "we are dust" both in colors kinda-sorta matching his pelt because I am a losah.

Ohhh nooo eris is the last. She gets a Salsola ring in black (used to stand for the Auxiliary but not anymore, whee) and her funky green spiral because she <3 spirals. The "City of Salt" is from Bright Eyes lyrics, I think, and stands in for Salsola. Sanctus Spiralis is bad Latin for Holy Spiral, and everything = Salsola colors 5ev.

A long time ago there was a word filter game. Deuce's name was filtered to be Queen Emo. Or Emo Queen, I don;t remember the actual order. I assume it was Queen Emo because of the way I have the title. She also won Most Emo two years running. So when I won a contest and was given a title as a prize, it only made sense to title her thus.

The cupcake was won. And she was my only character at the time. :P
Err...I gues She doesn't have a cupcake. I swore she did ^_^;
