[P] Take a little time

OOC: Dated Nov. 1. i did the best i could since from what i read the chilluns were kept from the welcoming ceremony. >.<

WC: 345

Myra was excited. She had never seen so many wolves and dogs from another pack before. In fact it was her first encounter with anyone outside the pack, and there were many of them. Myra couldn’t wait for the tournament. She was going to cheer on her pack of course. It was the best one out there after all. From what she learned Casa were friends with another pack. They were coming here to start a tournament. One with swords and bows and arrows and stuff like that. She was quite interested in it. She was now really diving into learning what was going on around her, though she was still oblivious to any innuendos or other things her developing brain couldn’t quite adjust to quite yet.

She missed the welcoming ceremony, mostly because her mom stayed home. She really wished she could have joined in, but once it was over they were allowed out. There was supervision all over of course. So many wolves all over the place. Her tiny frame moved to keep from getting stepped on. It wasn’t as easy as it seemed and now she knew why she wasn’t allowed when everyone was around. She wouldn’t get hurt though. She was invincible after all. She found a clear spot that would not be likely for her to get stepped on and sat down just taking in the sights sounds and smells. Oh the smells. Her short tail wagged with happiness as she watched others hoping to get someone’s attention. It certainly wasn’t easy being this small. She barked a little at someone but they passed by. Frowning she jumped up and barked at someone else. Everyone was just too busy. Frowning, she jumped right in front of someone and landed on her front elbows with her back end up she looked up and barked again. Still nothing, well they would be missing out on a lot of fun, she thought as she plopped her bottom down, laying her head on her front paws, right in the middle of the walk way.

Nostalgia made Skoll quiet and thoughtful as he padded through the Fort, though he smiled at those he passed and greeted the ones he knew. After learning about Alistair and reuniting with Atalanta, he felt subdued, contemplative, and this distracted him as he wandered. It felt like his head was in a raincloud, though he snorted when he was aware of these thoughts.

Preparations for the melee would begin soon, and he would have to get out of this strange headspace or risk losing; he didn’t know how many would participate in the free-for-all brawl, but damned if the Seneschal of the Court would let himself get taken out by a kid.

Ironically, this almost happened.

The pale puppy was stretched out in the middle of the path, and Skoll tripped. He stumbled a few steps to save himself from falling or stepping on the puppy, and he spun to look at her with his single eye wide before he barked out a laugh.

“What are you doing, girl?”

In her self pity she thought little of where her little body was and it was lucky for her then next person that came along was able to see her… at least last minute. She jumped up when she saw the man tripping and gaining his balance over top of her. She was scared he would hurt himself until he heard his laughter. It was a good thing too because she thought she would get into some big trouble if she was doing something wrong and for some reason it felt like that now even though she didn’t think of it before.

She smiled rather than cringed back and ran away, her tail started to wag too because it was the attention she was hoping for. Perhaps she should lay herself down more often? She wasn’t sure she should try it on purpose. “I’m sorry sir,” She said looking at his face for the first time. He was old! And he was missing and eye! She stopped short but the smile on his face made her continue “I just wanted to say hi, and see if anyone wanted to play” She continued wondering now if he might want to play. "but i'm too little." She said, stating they hadn't seen her because she was so small.

OOC: First of all, sorry for the wait!! Secondly, I think that Myra's speech is a little advanced for a puppy her age, which would be like a ~5 year old? :O (But I also do not interact w/ children often lol)

IC:

To his surprise, the puppy smiled and wagged her tail at him once she'd scrambled to her paws. Oftentimes Skoll's height and missing eye frightened others -- but perhaps the child was, as Shiloh's girls were, too innocent to be afraid. They didn't have the same experience of pain and fright that their aged, scarred counterparts had; of course she wouldn't see him as a threat, except perhaps on an instinctual level -- a stranger wolf with big teeth at the mouth of a den.

He was pleased to see her smile, though, and he wagged his tail too as he approached. "You are little," he conceded, and crouched to her level, hands braced on thighs. "Maybe nobody hear you since you're so close to the ground. What's your name? My name's Skoll." He grinned and canted his head, shaggy hair falling into his face.

dream beneath the golden sun

She was a little wary of his eye, but it fascinated her more than it scared her. It was different from what she was used to but his demeanor made her more curious to not want to run away. His wagging tail made her feel even braver, and she knew with all her pack mates around, even if they couldn’t see her, wouldn’t let a strange scary wolf hurt her. It was possibly the only reason she was even talking to him.

She drooped a little when he stated how little she was. She liked reassurances but he wasn’t going to give it to her. She would not sulk though, she had to keep that in her head as he continued on. She had to agree with his logic, her voice was tiny from all the way down on the ground. “My name is Myra. You came for the big games? They sound like fun, but my mom said i am too young to play them.” She said, stating the fact as though puppies were not too young for any games. It seemed she was barred from them, however, but she wasn’t too sad. She couldn’t be in the shape all the grown ups could be in. So she wasn’t complaining TOO loud.

OOC: Her vocabulary is about right. 5 year olds can talk fairly well, in many sentences. :)

197 words. Whoops, sorry that I let this get archived. :( And this post is rubbish.

“Myra’s a lovely name,” Skoll said, flashing his yellowing teeth at her. “And yeah, I came for the big games. I’m gonna fight in one of them.” He stated this with pride, hopeful that she would know the difference between a real battle and the faux one that was arranged for the alliances’ warriors. “I’m gonna win,” he added conspiratorially, and let his tongue loll in an arrogant smile.

“Who’s your mom?” he added, wondering who the little knight belonged to. She smelled familiar to him, but that could have merely been due to her allegiance; of course she would smell like pack mates that Skoll was familiar with. “What does she do? Is she a warrior?”

Then he paused thoughtfully. “We could play a little game if you want,” he offered, and urged her out of the way of the path—mostly so that he could settle in the space between a couple shop buildings, giving himself room to shift. He did so quickly, only a few minutes passing before he was standing on all four legs, a little closer to her level. Shaking his coat out, he grinned at her again.

Myra only knew games, so fighting to her was just a game and she wagged her tail, though she knew she should cheer for the others she liked this man already. He wasn’t as tall as her uncle but somehow he reminded her of him. Maybe it was the eye. Or something else. In any case she was happy to know about new people and the chance made the tiny little puppy excited. “My mommy is Lyris, she is…” She frowned not sure what her mother was. Yes she sure was a strict woman so maybe that made her a warrior; “Yeah She is a warrior.” She said. She didn’t tell him how she was, but she was the warrior of the home. She kept things strict. It was lucky Myra had been able to leave her home for this.

She perked right up at the comment of playing a game; “Yes! A game, a game!” She bounced around him. “Can you teach me a game? Me and my brothers, play lots, but they always want to wrestle.” She frowned thinking about just that morning when her brother Remus had pinned her down just because he could. She being smaller could only yelp and he got off quick enough. She was embarrassed by that so that wouldn’t be told to this stranger either, but the look on her face made it quite clear how she thought about wrestling.
