Here comes a thought, that might alarm you.
What someone said, and how it harmed me.

Delphinium hadn't been back home for very long. The news about the attack on the members returning back to the kingdom from the Outpost did not take long to come back to the place where the rest of the members resided. She wasn't the only one returning home either. There were a few that also remained at the Outpost who made the journey from Portland back to their true home. If they were going to push this force back, or with any luck, intimidate them enough to back off, then Salsola was going to need all the members it could get.

Aquiring a horse from the outpost was easy enough as well as gathering the things she would need for her return home. It was going to take some time getting from her current location back to the kingdom, so leaving as early as she could was key. Given the current situation, there was no need for farewells. She would be back soon enough, but for now, there were more pressing matters at hand.

As the horse traveled beneath her, she could see the path before her becoming familiar. The scents that filled the air became just as equally so. Drawing closer and closer to the kingdom, she slowed down the horse's speed, but not just because of this. Anyone could be lurking in the nearby woods, or perhaps just lingering to the side of the mountains, waiting for the opportunity to strike. She was not so easily fooled by these tricks, and would not allow herself to be.

Having tied the horse somewhere nearby, her light feet carried her through the snow. Her light pelted fur helped to keep her hidden among the leave-less trees. Daggers rested gently at her sides as she moved, careful on the amount of noise she made. She would be home soon enough, but there was no harm in doing some work right now. Spying and scouting in many ways went hand in hand. One could easily spy on the enemy once they had been scouted out. Since there was no prior information, she would be searching blind. Having moved behind one of the thicken trees nearby, she waited. Her ears turned to even the minorest sounds around her. She had to bide her time if she was going to get anything out of this.

Boreas Conflict II.

The attacks on either pack had been largely unsuccessful in her opinion. Neither raid had done much more than let it be known that there was a group of individuals out in the wilds to be on the lookout for. Thankfully, it seemed those that had participated in either party hadn’t made it obvious that Boreas was in the area. It had put the packs on alert though, giving away the true element of surprise. But, perhaps, that was just Ragna’s way of doing things.

She’d made her way south, though, instead of skulking around the clan’s borders, she’d diverted to taking surveillance of the misguided sheep that called themselves “wolves.” During the last Conflict, the individuals of Salsola had risen to the defense of the coyotes of the East. The idea was not something the next-generation Boreas woman could understand. Why had they thrown in their lot with Inferni? The heathens put wolf skulls on their borders for decoration for God’s sake. What did they have to gain from having an ally who hated their species?

Ragna tried not to think about it too much, focusing instead on gathering what details she could about the Thistle Kingdom’s outer lying areas. It would have been too risky to venture too close to the borders with the sun still out. With the land barren in the winter months, it meant most of the group’s sneaking and lurking would have to be during the darker hours. It didn’t mean she couldn’t move about during the day, however. It just meant she couldn’t be too brazen with her scouting.

The scout picked her way about the forested landscape, appearing more of a random, wandering loner than someone actually scouring the area for notable landmarks, obstacles, and hideaway places for the splinter cell. Her scent had been properly disguised so that she wouldn’t have any affiliation to the group that had attacked the Salsolans days before as well. She’d donned a cloak make out of deer hide to help hide her knives from an onlooker and to dissuade the idea of her looking like someone worth stealing from. A small, leather pack had been strung over one shoulder while her bow rested against the other.

Her took her notes mentally, as it would be too obvious to jot them down on paper so close to a pack’s borders. The last thing she wanted to do was call suspicion on her lonely person. Ragna had paced quite a ways, eventually spying a lone horse in the distance. Strange.

Who randomly tied a horse out in the middle of nowhere?

She didn’t recognize it as one of Boreas’. Her glacier gaze moved about the barren landscape, searching. Eventually, she diverted her course towards the horse, her stride slow and easy. The whole thing screamed that it was a trap, but, if someone had placed it, they likely had eyes on the area and were watching for someone to try to steal the horse. And if she’d been able to see the horse, whoever lay in wait had probably spotted her too.

Ragna had time to spare.

She offered a few coaxing nickers towards the hoofed beast as she moved closer towards it. She didn’t want to spook the thing. It looked plump, well-fed, indicating that the creature likely belonged to someone well-off and not a struggling loner. As she circled around, she spotted foot prints in the snow, but drew no attention to it. She wanted to see what game someone had in play.

“Hey, big fella,” Ragna greeted, adopting a southern accent. “Where’s yer handl’r at?”

Here comes a thought, that might alarm you.
What someone said, and how it harmed me.

Delphinium was no stranger to the manner in which Salsola worked when outside of their home. The Outpost tended to be a little different given the entire purpose was to trade with others. Still, when she was out doing what her skills taught her to, she adhered to all the normal measures in doing so. With all the snow laying around, it was a bit harder to cover her scent than it would have been with the lush green everywhere. Travel made this easier having distanced herself away from anything having to do with Salsola. The old scent had drifted of into the wind leaving something new behind. Green eyes focused on the path before her, scanning for anything she needed to draw her attention to.

Strangely, the attention she needed came from the direction she had left behind. Her ears turned to the sound of her horse in the distance. Had something caught its attention? This wasn't something that could just idly be ignored. That animals was the best means of her getting around, as she wouldn't have to walk to and from the outpost and home every time she was required to go back. Besides, it took her hard work to obtain that horse, she was not going to be giving it up so easily.

As the light woman returned to where she had started, her gaze focused on the cause of the horse's distress. There was another woman here, a dark one. It wasn't someone she recognized, but with news on the attack of the group making their way back home, she couldn't assume this wasn't someone she was to be looking out for. Crunching in the snow as she pressed forward, her arms moved up to the horse, working to calm it down before she turned her head over to the stranger, "My horse is not too fond of strangers. Is there perhaps some reason why you were getting so close to her?" Hand brushed across the animal's neck, her eyes peering to this other woman as she waited for her answer.

Boreas Conflict II.

Sorry for the wait! Was trying to catch up on my oldest posts first! Will prioritize Ragna! Also, assumed Delphinium was dressed in leathers like her wiki suggested? :O

Despite her best attempts to sooth the hoofed beast, it appeared either very well trained or was a fearful thing. Brimstone, she often boasted, was intelligent enough to know who his rider was and who were her companions. It made him a hard mount to steal, be it by a bold Boreas member or a complete stranger. At best, Salsola raised their animals in much of the same manner—to be loyal. At worst, the damn thing just didn’t like the thought of an unfamiliar Luperci near it when it was tethered and had no means of proper escape.

Either way, it was enough that the scout knew better than to actually attempt to steal the horse…not by her lonesome at least.

The crunch of snow alerted her to the presence of another approaching. She flicked one of her dark ears towards the direction, and her glacier gaze followed soon after. It was a tall woman of obvious wolf descent. She was a pretty thing—from an objective view, of course—pale fur with a light dusting of darker hues. She was dressed in darkly-dyed leathers, which put her leagues above most of the fragile women Ragna had seen outside of Zion.

The Eklund stepped back a few paces as the stranger moved to calm her steed, and when a pair of mint green eyes settled upon her, Ragna smiled a warm smiled. “Sorry ‘bout that miss.” She dipped her head in a polite bow, ever to play the part of a humble individual of the South. “Saw ‘er alone n’ tethered n’ no one around fer miles, figured it was some cruel way ah punishin’ tha poor thing or ‘er rider dead. Winter ain’t kind, y’know.” She shook her head, as if finding the whole idea unfortunate.

Ragna shuffled the weight of her pack on her shoulder, letting her icy gaze settle upon the woman once more. “Names Nana,” she introduced. “Ain’t from ‘round these parts if you can tell.” She gestured to her deerskin cloak pointedly. “Had tah bribe a fella to skin this thing fer me so tha snow wouldn’t soak m’clothes.” Eyeing the pale-furred woman, Ragna continued, “Ya look like yer better suited than I am.” She laughed softly. “Ya’ know of any place ‘round here who’ll take in a stray for tha winter months?”

She gestured towards the far off Salsola border. “I smelt a pack’s boundary lines that way, but got kinda spooked when I nearly walked into a nasty lookin’ trap.”
