Word Count → 415 :: Just outside the borders. :) Joining at night because why not? Need a warm place to sleep. :D

His personality had never really been that cruel. Originally, back in New Dawn, the only thought that had ever made him angry was knowing that he couldn't stay there forever. His first intention had been to come back, to join back up with his old pack, even though he'd left without word in the middle of the night. When he'd found out that they were gone, scattered by Anathema, a pack, in his opinion, that was made of treacherous and unmistakably cruel coyotes, the anger he'd felt deep down had been unfathomable. He thought of Lucia, how he'd left her and his home and the guilt of that conscious decision of his curled against his tongue, giving him a taste that would never go away. He knew nothing of her fate or even that of the members of the pack he'd called family, even if just for a short while.

The soft crunch of snow against the evenly spread position of his paws was the only sound for what felt like miles. He could no longer hear the sound of moving paws away from him, nor the sound of the birds that he'd heard off in the distance. The only thing that he could hear was the distant call of the ocean, smell the scent of sea salt and marsh, hear the gregarious sound of skittering animals within the white spread of the land around him.

The moon hung low in the sky, gently casting its hazy luminescence against the clothed back of the dark furred Caspian that stood before one of the only packs in the area that he'd ever considered aside from New Dawn, back when New Dawn had been a fond memory in his path. His scarred companion had walked away several miles back, leaving Caspian to his work, though admittedly, Caspian hadn't even really noticed her the entire time. His mind, made up for the most part, offered little in the way of other ideas. The best disguise was one an enemy wouldn't expect.

He'd heard stories about the war between the Courtiers and Inferni. The idea of his hatred against those coyotes would very likely go unnoticed here since it was likely that some of the canines here held the same ideas and philosophies that the Boreas wolves, his recruiters, did. He stepped back, leaving ample space between him and the borders themselves before his head lifted and a call rose through the dark, cold air toward Cour des' lands.

We’re the only ones who know

Night was not one of his favorite times for these things, and he had always preferred that others take nighttime patrols. It was not that he was afraid of the dark, far from it, but his night vision was not the best it could be. Still, he did whenever he had to, especially when it seemed that no one else was around to do it for him. So the King shuffled along his nightly stroll, happy that at least the moon was out to light his way a little better.

He strolled along with even stances, ignoring the sensation of things beneath the snow, below his feet. He could feel things crunch and the mud was frozen solid, likely the cold air freezing air melted by the slightly warmer day's air. That he did not slide about was a miracle, but he knew the layout of his borders fairly well by that point, after patrolling it for over half of his life. He did not even recall the borders of his birthplace with ease, not that he had ever really done much to patrol there. Here he had been an adult, rather than spent his time as a juvenile playing for fun.

The call came and he suppressed a groan. Who joined in the middle of the night, when everything was so much riskier? Who was this ridiculous? He sighed, huffing, and turned himself toward the sound. On two legs, it was a little slower going and not quite as nimbly done, but he made it in due time, standing tall.

A wolf stood before him, dark but unmistakably not a dog. Not that he minded, but the Court often attracted dogs and the like, rather than full-blooded anything else. Silvano made no comment, even to the strange accessory on his ankle, figuring it would come up in conversation.

"It's a little bit late to be making calls, stranger," he said lightly, though his tone did suggest that it was likely a very stupid idea. "What do you want from the Court and her King?" he added, respectfully and not at all demanding, while making a statement on his rank and the importance of the moment before the two of them.

Word Count → 375 :: ooc goes here

He found himself idly thinking to himself while he waited. The last time he had called someone at the borders of any place had been at the borders of New Dawn. He'd been approached by Altair, a wolf that was so feral in nature that even Caspian had had to take a second look just to ensure that it was not a monster who had found him to end what had been his suffering back then, starvation and undernourishment. Only shortly after had he met Raeka, the first leader he'd ever set his mind to. None of that mattered now, not really. Blue eyes, as bright as the sky during a cloudless day peered before his path, observant and keen to the smallest of movements.

To him, night was the perfect time for anything for wolves were predators and there was no better time to find one's prey than at when vision was skewed and the path to escape unlit. The stoic figure, Caspian, only had to wait for a short while before another approached.

The figure, not one he recognized, was certainly taller than most he'd ever dealt with, even, he was sure, than Altair had been when he'd first approached, though his memories were not as well as they should have been in this time of toil and trouble. In response, his head lightly fell so that his gaze did settle on the other figure's eyes. Respectful, at least, in the way that a subordinate might be. "I come seeking refuge from the winter, a possibility at a meal and a place within your pack.. King," he managed, tagging on the title at the end despite how awkward it tasted, and sounded within his mouth.

"I know it's late," he responded in earnest, "and I could have made camp and slept a distance from your borders till tomorrow but I figure it's better to sleep within warmth rather than in the cold." To some, that wasn't so far-fetched. He was, after all, already here. Why settle outside when he could be in? It made more sense. He lifted his head to momentarily peer at the other man. "I've no gifts to offer but I do have my own strengths and weaknesses to share."
