Everything felt wrong and out of place. Odalis couldn’t remember the last time that she had shifted down onto all fours – none the less run about – but she had promised Galilee that they would hunt together. The Onuban had put the tomboy into a ribboned frock and teased her hair – something that she had done with other ladies of the court back in her homeland.

Odalis glanced down at her stubby toes, the long claws flexing against the earth as she waited for the strawberry blonde.

In this form her ears were slightly longer, her tail a silky flag of fur that was fully exposed and not hidden beneath her skirts. Her chest was smooth and flat, bowed just so as it connected with her hips and rolled her doggishly forward. Like this she felt completely exposed and small, her thin legs protruding at abnormal angles and leaving her with a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach.

Odalis sat on her haunches (Ugh! Haunches!) and fidgeted impatiently – stilling the wandering foot that ached to scratch in an unlady-like manner behind one of her ears.

”Galilee!” She shouted for the woman, stamping her front feet with a frown, ”Hurry up!” Her shoulders twitched, ”This is… I feel weird!”

For Galileeeeeeee

Galilee appeared in a flash like a falling star.

More accurately, she came bounding through the field, leaped a stream, misjudged her landing, and took a tumble. She was on her feet just as quickly, streaked now with dirt, and stifled a curse as she loped toward the spaniel. Her tongue spilled from her jaws, lolling off to the side of one curved fang. Then her teeth clicked shut, gleaming at Odalis; she inched forward to sniff the girl, as if she were meeting a new dog. Her bushy tail wagged.

How the heck can you feel weird? Lee asked, laughing. She didn't understood those that acted hoity-toity about what form they took; everyone was born on four legs, after all, and it was equally natural to standing on two! Did Odalis forget her entire childhood? How could one's own body suddenly feel strange? It wasn't the same as being stuffed in a dress.

Maybe Odalis felt weird without the dress, and that was the trouble – but Galilee quite liked seeing more of her. Her gaze was curious and appreciative, not sexual; she hadn't seen how silky and pretty her tail was before, or seen quite so many streaks of color through her coat. She smiled encouragingly, jerking her head toward the meadow.

You look cute and ready to run! Allons-y!

She trotted a few feet, stopped, and then rubbed her face on the ground to relieve an itch. Springing up again, she yipped at Odalis and ran back into the field.

If Galilee was a shooting star Odalis felt that she was a boulder.

The Haskel girl was a flurry of movement, jumping barking and laughing as she tore of the earth beneath her doggish feet. Odalis sat perfectly still, her long ears dolefully uncomfortable. Galilee was perfect, a woman built for hunting and running... and suddenly Odalis felt completely inadequate. Akantha had never once asked her children to hunt or scout the woodland that surrounded their Estate - and in moments like these Odalis almost wished that she had.

She wagged her silky tail, standing to greet the boisterous girl with a licked cheek and a bob of her head.

"Galilee - you don't-" She couldn't help but get caught up in the woman's exuberance, "Are you like this all the time!?" She laughed, tossing her head and finally allowing herself to chase after the golden girl, who without a care in the world began rolling about face-first in the dirt. "Dios, what are you doing?"

She nipped at Galilees shoulders, barking softly as she raised her head to gaze out into the trees. "Have I ever told you I have a terrible sense of smell?"

Odalis laughed, and Galilee glanced over her shoulder, winking to imply that, yes, she was like this all the time. Life was too short to be any other way, after all! She had to devote all her passion to every aspect of her soul – from training to hunting and playing. She had never understood those that bottled up and hid away pieces of themselves. Skoll had encouraged her to be open and true to her heart, and given her a place where she could express herself without any worry. She was certainly no fish out of water.

The spaniel was more tentative, but she ran giggling alongside the bigger wolfdog, even jumping to nip at her shoulders. Galilee wagged her tail, baring her teeth in a grin, and jumped around for a little until they reached the meadow. It was then that Odalis confessed that one of her sense was poor, and Lee thrust her lip out thoughtfully.

Well, I'll track, and spook up some bunnies. We'll chase them together. I promise, your body will know what you're doing even if you don't.

Running after small furry things was in the blood of every wolf and dog, and Galilee buzzed with excitement as she ventured out into the field, indicating with a flick of her tail that Odalis should follow at a small distance. Her nose to the ground, she snuffled along old tracks and trails, finally finding something fresh and exciting. She zeroed in on a sprawl of bushes, approaching with stiff-legged steps, and –

Barked, sending cottontails scattering into the field.

She was off like a shot after one bobbing white tail, shouting to Odalis: Get it get it get it!

Where Galilee had been encouraged to embrace her feelings and run with them, Odalis had been asked to keep herself carefully in control – not for the sake of herself, but for others. The Court in Onuba could be a dangerous place if you exposed too much and so Odalis had allowed herself to control every facet of herself that had made its way out into the world.

She bounced alongside Galilee and wondered how the girl had learned to be so free. She was beaming, a radiant beam of golden sunlight – her thick wolfish mane sticking up at all angles even in this form. ”Oh, really? You think that will work?” She gazed out at the grass as if something hidden inside would bite her, ”I trust you Galilee, but I… I really have no idea what I am doing.” She bobbed her head, and awaited further instruction – her nose twitching in the breeze as Galilee abandoned her for the hunt.

Dios, the hunt.

What was she doing?

Galilee walked stiff legged until-

The loud bark had Odalis straightening, her tongue slapping across her lips as she leapt after the bunnies that exploded out in front of the Courtier.

She lowered herself to the ground and ran quickly, so quickly that it surprised her and she had to correct when she went too far in one direction.

”Galilee!” She shouted, barking in between her words, ”I’m doing it!”

"It's okay if you don't know what you're doing," Galilee reassured the doggish girl, and leaned over to nudge her with her wet nose. You said you trust me, right? I won't make fun of you. Nothing bad will happen if you mess up. These were not lean times; their survival did not depend on the success of this hunt. Lee hoped that painting a silly picture of herself would keep Odalis from feeling too self-conscious about her own silliness, too.

And when the time came, the Onuban chased.

Some rabbits shot off into the foliage beyond, their straight-lined sprints taking them somewhere more difficult for the big canines to follow, but a couple were young, uncertain. Galilee was on the heels of one rabbit, jaws snapping between swipes of her tongue over her muzzle, until the rabbit zigged one way and Lee zagged the other, and she too floundered. She spun around to see the cottontail, blindly fleeing from her, run instead toward Odalis.

It's comin' at ya! the wolfdog howled.

She had no idea what she was doing - but it felt good.

Her silky fur streamed in the wind, the long fur along her tail acting like a streamer as she coursed after the bunnies. She used their cotton-tails as a lure, galloping gracelessly after them until she finally found her stride. When Galilee managed to turn one in her direction she spun toward it eagerly, her paws leaving sharp long marks in the grass.

"It's comin' at ya!"

Odalis slid, changing direction as the bunny dodged Galilee and headed straight towards her. Dios. Dios. Dios- The little thing was staring at her with beady eyes and she snapped at it, barking and exposing her teeth in a very unladylike fashion. She followed it for what felt like an eternity before instinct took over and she finally caught it proudly between her teeth.

She pranced, kicking up her doggy heels and wagging her tail gaily.

"Look! Look!"

She spat it at Galilees feet and sat proudly as if to present it to her. "I did it." She glanced around, "Can we catch another one?"

OOC: We can fade this out esp if you wanted a more recent one :>

IC:

She anticipated that Odalis might freeze up with the rabbit sprinting blindly her way -- but the spaniel was full of life and joy for the hunt, barking and snapping her jaws. She zeroed in on the rabbit and overtook it with a final lunge, ending its life between her white teeth. No ladylike mortification followed: only the self-satisifed trot of a hunting dog who'd done her best.

Panting, Galilee flopped her hind end down in the grass, sprawled awkwardly on her haunches. She licked her lips and smiled when Odalis brought her catch over. "I'm proud of you," she replied, and her voice was deep and earnest -- she meant every syllable. If she was closer, she might have nudged Odalis' face with her muzzle, but to expend the effort to lean forward would have been awkward.

She did guffaw at Odalis' eager question. "They've all scattered. If you can find one, though, feel free." She got up and bumped her head against Odalis' shoulder, tail wagging. "Why don't we share this one as a quick snack, then we can go running again. There are lots of trails and things I wanted to show you that are more fun on four legs."
