The siren calls you to run with the wolf
Word Count → 395 :: OOC Moon is in LUPUS. Has her mare Kebira with her but not riding her. Early morning, snowy but not actively snowing. Generic date around this time!

The icy morning air filled the wolf’s nostrils and made her breath come out in two little puffs that swirled before her eyes; endlessly entertaining. Moon was well equipped against the winter, though, and sensed little of the cold through her thickened pelt and double-layered undercoat. The whole winter look made her appear quite husky, almost a round ball of fur with stick legs in her lupus form. But in Optime the whole effect served to hide the tiny tummy pooch she hadn’t quite managed to lose after giving birth to two litters in under a year. Her boys had just passed their first birthday and were the young-adult knuckleheads one might expect from Moon’s children – though markedly smarter – but her baby girls were still that; babies. At four months, her daughters were still a lot of work, so Moon was still finding every opportunity she could to run away from them.

Of course, the mother always returned eventually and took care of her pups as much as instinct would demand, and she absolutely loved play-time, but other than that she wasn’t much of a fan of the puppy stage… luckily, she had a village of men to help. Though their primary caretaker? Mads. The father of at least one of the girls, but who treated them both like his natural daughters.

With the reins clasped between her teeth, Moon Moon padded along the worn country road. Kebira's heavy steps clopped behind her. The mare was in a bit of a foul mood because there was little brush and bramble to graze on, and Moon never had the wherewithal to stop her when she did. These little outings with the weird wolf were usually a banquet for the mare. But now that winter had arrived, they were just exercise and that’s all…

Moon Moon still hadn’t gotten the knack of horseback riding, but was still proud of her mare that she had scored during the fall of Sapient, and doted on her. So that morning she hooked up her bridle and reins, blanketed her, and then shifted to Lupus… a dog taking her horse for a walk…

The sun was low in the sky but rising, and Moon Moon paused at the crest of a hill to watch the last candy colored streaks of orange and pink as the sky transitioned to its cotton-candy blue.

When he had arisen that morning, he saw that, predictably, Moon wasn't there. Looking down to the gap in between where the Seigneur himself slept and his companion had been the previous night, he saw the two girls still sleeping soundly. While it was a surprise, it was a welcome one and Mads was almost tempted to leave them sleeping soundly.

He didn't though. Curiosity killed the cat and the Dane wanted to see where Moon has spirited herself away to. Lest she find herself in a dangerous situation. Again.

'Come on then you two.' he yawned, his mother tongue still well-practised thanks to the malleable mind of children. Slowly, the two earthen girls unfurled themselves from around each other and yawned their own greetings back to him. A few teeth littered the scruffy furs beneath them, further proof that his daughters were growing rapidly by the day. In truth, their gangly, mismatched features, long legs and chubby faces. already gave this fact away.

Without much delay, they were on the move, Mads using the hunt for their matriarch as a lesson in tracking for his energetic daughters.

The siren calls you to run with the wolf
Word Count → 200+ :: OOC

For a brief time, Moon did little but peer at the sunburst in the sky as dawn bloomed, her tail swaying lazily to and fro with the rare, calm happiness that the sunrise tended to afford mortals. It was Kebira who noticed the approaching family first, and even then Moon almost wasn’t tipped off because the mare was so comfortable with the family. Still, with natural predators approaching from behind (or the flanks, or wherever), the mare couldn’t deny her instincts, and began to become concerned. The chestnut horse peered around cautiously, flicked an ear, clopped a hoof, and finally Moon Moon noticed the horse’s sudden fidgetiness.

Giving Kebira a glance with perfectly rounded eyes, she knew what was up at once. Oop! she piped the noise as she promptly dropped Kebira’s reins from her jaws and leaped off the path and into some brush. It seemed like a playful act but, yes, Moon Moon was actually trying to hide from her responsibilities.

She hadn’t committed to the job wholly, though, and not only left the mare standing in the road as a trail marker, but left several dainty paw marks imprinted on the snow in her wake. There was a large berm of disrupted powder where she suddenly stopped, changed course, and slipped behind a cluster of rocks and shrubbery.

'Where is she?! The foreign babble continued, the already scarcely intelligible language muddied further by childish mispronunciations. The girls made vain attempts to keep themselves entertained, rushing forwards until they were almost out of sight of their tired father and rushing back with as much gusto as they could muster, launching themselves at the glorified pillow that was their father's thick northern pelt.

'Why isn't she here though?' And to this, Mads had no answer, so he simply shrugged. Truth be told, he had a perfect explanation for it. But unfortunately, the uncomfortable truth was just that and the Dane didn't see it right to lumbered such young girl's with the hard truth that Mommy didn't really much like being a Mommy and would much rather go galavanting and talking to things that weren't there.

'I dunno. That's why we're looking.' He finally offered, after further complaints from the girls. 'Run ahead again and so see if you can't find her yourselves.' It was a cop out, allowing them to stray away from his direct line of sight in order to save his eardrums from the squawks and complaints of little girls.

'You come back when if I call you though, yeah?!' Though it seemed as if his parting words had been ignored because the girls had already disappeared behind the crest of a hill.

love like winter

Daddy! It’s mommy’s horsie! screeched the little earth-brown girl, the more adventurous and eloquent of the two. Riddle babbled something in turn, but then the pair broke down in a fit of yipping as they ran back to their father, urging him to hurry up. Kebira could be seen standing alone on the path, bemused.

Moon Moon’s ears twitched and swiveled at the sound of her daughters’ excitement, and despite her attempts to hide her instincts began to rise. The desire to play with her girls percolated, and soon her bottom and tail were waggling joyously, and sent little smatterings of snow to and fro like there was a little elf hiding behind the brush and shoveling.

The girls ran toward Moon’s hiding spot, upsetting Kebira enough to make the mare take a few lazy steps forward and then settle in again, peering at the strange family’s antics. Just as they were about to uncover her, the snowy wolf burst out of her hiding spot, barreled over her daughters, and unwittingly buried them in a crust of snow. She bounded away as though being pursued, and eventually arced around to prance up to Mads, her tail curled high and wagging. Ya found me! she blurted, in her ever-present ruse that this was just a game. Though, the truth of it was, by the time they found her each day, Moon had forgotten it wasn’t. Hey, she said, whipping around. Where’d tha girls go?

The girls soon appeared again over the hill, reporting a Kebira sighting excitedly and all at once. Unsteady teeth nipped and tore at this ankles and shins, occasionally one of the would jump up and catch the plush for of his chest and hang momentarily before letting go and rushing away and back again in excitement. How did they have so much energy? As he approached closer, he could indeed confirm that Moon's steed was lingering suspiciously on the trail in a rather suspiciously lonesome fashion. Rolling quicksilver eyes, the Dane padded forward, ready to smoke the Damaichu woman from her hiding place.

He was beaten to the punch, however, for all of a sudden there was a white flash and a previously rustling bush exploded to reveal Moon Moon. The Northman gave her a discomfited half smile as their daughters squealed under a blanket of white power they'd been showered in by their wayward mother. 'Wasn' tha' a fun game then?' Mads commented, just a tiny hint of annoyance in his voice, nothing that Moon or the girls would likely notice. A thick paw scooped at the wriggling snow pile, first pulling out a squirming Riddle and then an upside down Harley that fell over in a fit of giggles again as soon her father had put her upright again.

'What've y' been up t' then?' Mads asked, falling back onto his haunches and trying to ignore the force of two growing puppies barreling into his legs as he attempted to make conversation with his pseudo mate. Usually, he didn't mind this kind of foolishness, it was what had attracted him to her in the first place. But by God was she far from the responsible adult he assumed she'd temporarily learn to be when it came to being a parent.
