Quote:back dated to Febuary 8th, the day of the earthquake, this is after her daughter disappeared.
Carya was irritated already, it wasn't as if her daughter did anything this time, but it wasn't unlike the two of them to constantly be fighting. At least before her daughter disappeared, they were always fighting. Where had she gone anways? She was constantly rolling the thoughts around in her head. Carya wasn't used to the distance her daughter had been putting between them lately, her only living child was an asshole, to say the least. She should be safe, right? It hadn't come to her attention that it may as well be a kidnapping. After all, why would anyone want to kidnap that child of hers who was a total jerk?
Twice now, Carya felt like a bad mom. At least around her daughter. It didn't really matter what happened between the two of them, Carya was always going to be her mother. Wandering for what felt like days, now, Carya stopped by a stream to lap at the melting water. The blizzard that settled onto the lands wasn't as bad as Carya would have expected it to be, but the lack of animals, did take a toll on the elderly female. At only 8 years old, she continued to age remarkably.
Not paying any attention, she felt the ground shake beneath her feet, and lost her balance. Reaching out towards the tree she was near, she didn't have any sort of information on what to do when the ground beneath your very own two feet was quivering and shaking. What the hell? She thought gripping at the trees bark, before losing her balance again. Blue orbs searched everywhere for somewhere to run and hide. Because that was a great idea during an earthquake, right?
White and tan feet his the earth hard, claws digging into the dirt as she spied the nearest cave beside her, ears flickered listening for Aani. Aani? she desperately called out, looking for her daughter. Instead of waiting, she tumbled forwards when the ground beneath her feet cracked and she lunged to her left, towards the cave. Before the Aston female could make it into the cave, it crumbled sending debris and rocks crashing down onto her. With a loud yelp, Carya shielded her head and jerked backwards. Right at the entrance of the cave, the Aston female was trapped beneath a boulder that broke under the cracking earth.
On the ground, she shoved at the rock, yelping as her wrist hurt. It was likely sprained. Aani! She cried out, eyes filling up with tears. What on earth was going on? And the ground continued to quake, causing the Aston female to reach out and brace herself against the large boulder that had her pinned. It continued to shake, more debris and rocks falling around her. If she didn't move the large boulder that was pinning her knee, she might die. She couldn't even feel the pain in her knee, and gripped the rock with her hands. Shoving it to the side, she rolled it off her knee, and erupted with another yelp, straining her muscles in her neck, as it landed onto her ankle.
Fuck. She gritted her teeth and growled out. If someone didn't come soon, she would be stranded and stuck here forever.

With the cold snap brought a recent famine Raven had not experienced in quite some time. Prey was scarce, especially since the recent blizzard that blanketed most of the land in the past month and had yet to truly melt away. Where it did melt, it left rivers of water sending a mass deluge in the lowlands that seemed to drive most of their prey away from the territory and ate at the shores of the lands around them. It was frustrating, to say the least as the coydog pressed further and further out into the surrounding lands outside of Del Cenere to find decent hunting.
It started as a soft rumble, barely perceptible beneath her feet, but as she took a few more steps there was no denying the shaking and she wondered what the hell was going on. A small growl escaped her lips as she dove for the nearest tree, her eyes wide and frightened when she thought a herd of horses may have been threatening to run her down. It would serve her right as she had been so far away from Del Cenere and decided not to mention anything to her brother before she left about where she was going exactly.
Ducking down near the base of the tree she rode out the quaking earth around her feeling the vibration slowly bring on a pounding headache in the back of her head. A moment later it felt like it was settling, but before she could even take a step away from her spot the golden-eyed coyote-woman heard a loud, pained shriek coming from nearby. Ears pressed forward as she tried to trace the source of it and she went into action fast, leaping from her spot and jogging quickly towards it.
Through the dense treeline she made out the shape of another luperci who appeared to be trapped by fallen boulders. Picking up her step she bounded towards the woman, announcing her presence with a small yip. Her lips twitched in annoyance not really caring for the fact that this woman was a heavy wolf-hybrid. She considered for a moment disappearing back into the woods before the woman actually caught sight of her, but something told the woman she needed to help the older woman.
"Get ready, pull your foot out when I push against the boulder. On my count..." she paused, quickly moving into position as she squatted down in front of the woman, facing her, with her back pressed against the rock and arms braced around it to push back against it. "One... Two... THREE!" she bellowed, straining to push against the rock and lift it up just enough for the woman to pull her leg free.
Her ears flattened on her skull. She was trapped. What was mere seconds felt like hours. Hours that she was trapped underneath a boulder trapped, because of the earth opening up and shaking like some sort of tremor. Dear Odin, Thor, Freya. Whoever is listening, please let someone come help me. Send me one of your best Valkyries. Send me anyone. Someones. I need to get to my baby. She said a silent prayer, closing her eyes and lifting her head up to the skies.
She smelt the coyote before she even saw her. Her blue orbs popped open and she felt her stomach flutter with joy, was this Aani? Did she come back? Aani? Oh thank the- her words trailed off as she blinked and then realized that this wasn't her daughter. But she had to know where she was right? Surely someone anyone knew where Aani was. She couldn't be too far, she was just playing her games again. It was a depressing and obscure thought and her lips pressed together in a tight line her ears pricking, then flattening. The other female spoke to her, saying they would move the boulder on the count of three. It was a good idea. Great, in fact. But the shock was beginning to set in, so was the onset of depression.
O-Okay... she said idly, her mind not entirely here to say the least. With a fluid motion, the female pushed the boulder up enough for Carya to roll her ankle out of the way of the crushing weight. Aani? She asked again, silently tears welled up and spilled out from her eyes. Aani wasn't coming back, and Carya was at fault for this.
Where is Aani? she asked, cradling her left leg that was injured in a hand, as blood spilled from several cuts on her shin and ankle.

The boulder shifted beneath the adrenaline surging through the woman's veins from the quake that had all of a sudden shook the lands around them. The tremor had left her on edge, but her thoughts were still straight at least and she was able to at least aid this woman with the fall of debris. Yet, as Raven looked at her, ignoring for a moment the incorrect name of another she had been called, she could not help but wonder what was going on. She was a little bewildered herself, but Raven was not one to pry into other's business. If it had been any other day, perhaps she would have just continued on and ignored the pleas for help.
Dropping the boulder once she was sure the woman was free, the dark coyote panted lightly, dropping down onto her haunches and leaning against the rock for support as her muscles twitched with the sudden burst of energy it took to move it. Once again the same name spilled forth from the lighter female's voice and Raven's brow raised with confusion and she shook her head.
"I'm Raven Sinclaire, not entirely sure who Aani is?" she stammered, oh great, had she hit her head in the process as well? "Did you hit your head by any chance during the earth shake?" she asked, hopping up from her position on the ground to close the distance between them and look her over. The satchel she dropped just before she moved the rock was quickly grabbed and Raven came to sit next to the woman as her attention turned to the ankle. "Can you move your toes? If it's broken, I might need to set it, but maybe you just need to be bandaged," she commented before her golden orbs turned up to meet the pale blue of the she-wolf.
Here she was, stuck in the middle of this god-forsaken country, with a stranger. And while, yes, this stranger did help her out and got her leg unstuck, she couldn’t help but wonder if this female knew her daughter? Of course she didn’t but in Carya’s mind anyone and everyone might have seen her. How could they not?
She’s my daughter. Mono-tone voice, she looked at the other, her form in shock. After-all, the earthquake and her entire being was screwed.
The female hopped up and closed the distance between them, and Carya slightly withdrew, but then settled. She was uncomfortable at this point, but it didn’t matter. N-no. She stammered and licked her lips, wincing as her right hand trailed over the wound on her leg. I…don’t think I hit my…my head. Her voice was quiet and she looked around them. Aani couldn’t be far, could she?
It was a distance that she was unwilling to approach. Yes, Aani was far, and yes Carya was too late to rescue her before anything bad had happened to her. Unknowing to her, however; Carya was convinced that her daughter just had to be around here somewhere.
Her toes? Oh right, she was injured because of what ever had happened to the earth, that caused it to break open and create a calamity. Wiggling her toes, she grimaced. Not…not broke. M-maybe…. She paused and thought of the words. Damn, had she hit her head? No, it was just from her heart-break of loosing her daughter. Maybe it’s just deeply bruised… Words were forming now, and she took a deep breath, eyes glancing around, her voice quicker now. Aani, they took her. He took her. I am looking for her. I…I don’t know where they are. More tears formed in her eyes, and she let some fall off her face. Whether it was from the sadness of losing her daughter or the fact that the female tied something on her leg, she wasn’t sure.

The woman began to explain that Aani was apparently her daughter, thankfully she also knew the distinction between her and her daughter now too. Perhaps she had not hit her head, and the woman reassured her that there was no damage to her brain. Yet, her grief was highly apparent which made Raven a little more than uncomfortable with the whole situation, not really sure how to deal with that aspect of this situation.
"I don't know, miss. How long ago did you lose her?" she asked, quirking a brow before she settled down beside the woman and began to examine the ankle. She wiggled her toes, albeit painful, they were moving and did not seem to be jutting out at any awkward angles at least. That was good because a loner with a broken leg was definitely the worst case scenario at this point, she would be unable to hunt and also unable to feed herself or fend herself from any passerby that may take advantage of the situation.
"Yeah, it looks like you might have a little cut there too," she said, carefully running her fingers over the woman's ankle. "I can clean it up at least for ya, and wrap it?" she said with a raise of her brow. She did not wait for the woman to respond as she seemed to be going on about her daughter still and Raven was a little worried for the mind of the woman even if she shouldn't. Reaching into her bag, she brought out a clean, linen wrap and a small canister that held fresh water that she used to drink from, but cleaning the wound was a little more important right now. Pouring the liquid over the wound, she patted it dry with some clean linen that she pulled out of her bag, and then tearing a strip off the other end she began to deftly wrap the ankle, hoping she was not causing the woman any extra pain, but with her rambling about her daughter, she was not sure if the woman even took notice.
"Who do you think took your daughter?" she asked curiously, wondering if she could set the woman's mind at ease by going out and searching the area for her.
She took a moment to let the other’s words sink into her brain, and she paused before she answered. She was…we were hunting. Not even about five or ten miles from here. Yesterday. This made sense to Carya, so surely it would to this other female. It was five or ten miles? Right? She blinked to herself and felt a horrible headache coming on, but stifled the pained cry, and bit her tongue instead. Perhaps she did hit her head after all. If she did it wasn’t very likely she was bleeding on the brain, was it?
This female was kind to her, and if she weren’t fretting about her daughter, she may have taken a moment to actually say “thank you”. Instead, she made a little face as the dark coyote female knelt down and wrapped her leg that was bleeding. Wincing with pain, it at least was letting her know she was still alive. She wouldn’t complain, what was the point anyways? Carya flickered a blonde ear to one side of her head, and her ocean eyes viewed the other female with a small hesitation in her vision, vision blurring in and out. Then, it was gone.
Shaking her head once, she answered Raven’s next question. About who took Aani. Biting back the sourness she felt in the back of her throat, and having to stop herself from rolling her eyes. If I knew who took her, I wouldn’t be asking where the fuck she was. Instead she said; I don’t know, when I found their trail it smelled like her and one other. Her horse wasn’t with her. I really, have no idea. She almost couldn’t hide the irritability that was within her words, but she hid it well.
Flickering a tail, and then placing a hand onto Raven’s shoulders, she spoke out to her, ears falling flat. I thank you for your kindness. I’m Carya. I think I better had go search for her. I believe I should be fine. Because why else would the Aston female sit here and let another patch her up? Even if she was injured and wouldn’t be able to move very fast, her pride wouldn’t let her accept much more help. This was her fault after-all, and Carya wasn’t about to let this other female get in the way of it.
If this other female wanted to help her find a trail, then that was fine. But otherwise, Carya would rise to her shaky legs, and give the other female a small smile. She made a fool out of herself in front of this other girl, how tragic.

Five or ten miles? Well, that was quite a lot of ground to cover from here and Raven questioned whether the woman was completely with it or if the pain was getting to her that bad that she could not think straight. Either way, Raven felt a little useless in that regard to helping the woman find her daughter and with her ankle as bad as it was she was not sure if the woman would make it very far on her own. It was one thing for a pack animal to become hurt like this, but a whole other thing entirely for a loner to be left on her own with such an injury. Either way, the woman helped as best as she could.
Her irritated tone, even if she was trying to hide it, made Raven take a step back and her brows knitted together as she looked over the woman. If her help was not going to be appreciated then why the fuck was she here? Half of her felt like saying fuck it, leaving the woman here to her own devices and getting back to Del Cenere to see how everyone was doing after the earth shake that had surely rattled a few of them as it was not entirely common in these parts from what she knew to have such a thing. Yet, she did not know much about the area to be certain.
"Well, Carya, I probably would not go around hobbling on that leg for too long, you will do worse damage to it and be out for a lot longer. If you'd like my help though, take me back to where you last seen your daughter and perhaps I can pick up the scent trail?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest and ready to leave if this woman declined her help. Unsure of what else to do, Raven stood back and waited for her response.
