Time of day: Early morning
Location: Ethereal Eclipse; Esper Hollow
Weather: Foggy, cool, 50 Degrees
Synopsis: Kane is going on a hunt for a deer she is tracking, using the bow and arrows she made from her home pack. Afterward, she will be performing a blessing to her Norse Gods.
Kane barely breathed as she slowly tracked the deer through the tree line, trying to get a good shot. Her bow remained tight in her hand, and an arrow was notched loosely. It had been a few days since she had gotten something good to eat, so the Icelandic Shieldmaiden hoped that Odin would grant her a meal on this day. Since leaving her home village, Kane had been by herself and was self sufficient. When she reached the Ethereal Eclipse, she had been quite hungry. Kane didn't want to let her hunger mess this up, so she put all of her focus on taking this deer down even if it took more than one shot. The large oak and ash trees were scattered across the entire landscape while ferns and other forest floor plants covered the ground. The smell of oak and rotting wood filled the early morning air, a pleasant smell that reminded Kane of home. The only thing that was missing was the smell of the sea.
As the deer breached the clearing into Esper Hollow, it lifted its antlered head to look around before he joined the others who were also grazing on the grass. Kane remained hidden behind the pine tree as she pressed her face against the pitch tainted bark, not caring that some of it got in the fur on her face and neck. Kane didn't want to be detected. Thankfully, the breeze blew toward her and hid her presence. The fog filled the space between the trees, as well as the entire meadow so Kane would have to make this shot count to track her kill down quickly. She wasn't sure who else would be out here. Kane could count five other deer, both buck and doe, of various ages eating. It told her that the prey was plentiful here so life wouldn't be so hard to live should she choose to remain self sufficient and a loner. Being a loner weighed heavy on her mind because she had been so used to being part of a pack before.

She walked absently, her ears flickering on her skull and her hands adjusting the lead of her stallion. Ever since her daughter and her had gotten into a fight, it was the worst thing that happened to Carya. She couldn't help but want to travel. Ever since Bete Noire was there, and she was accepted into them, there wasn't really anything the Aston female found herself wanting to to do anymore. Aani left her brokenhearted, and it showed and weighed heavy in the air like a thick fog. Blue eyes, soft as usual seperated what was and wasn't in front of her. Usually she wasn't as mopey, but today. Today she thought about all the family she had lost and about her daughter finally leaving her. Her heart was empty, aside from Nyx and Lukos, what did the Aston female really have?
Nothing.
And that was the cold hard truth that the Aston female finally came to truth with. Her mothers' were no where to be found, and her siblings weren't anywhere either. She had no memory of any time before a pack, and yet, she stayed with the group in the same territories she grew up in, and still, something was missing from her life. A swallow took her blue gaze to look at the ground, her ears flickering atop her cranium. What was her purpose of life anymore? Was there a purpose? Her thoughts were interrupted by a peculiar smell. It was that of a wolf, and perhaps of other wild-life. It was barely audible to her nostrils, as they flared and she took the scent in. She was walking up the edges of the trees, when she stopped her horse. There was a hunt going on, her blue eyes sought out the other wolf as she glanced at her through branches. A gentle breeze told her that the wolf was the one she smelled earlier. She was hunting, perhaps she could use some help?
Taking her horse, and turning him towards the other direction, she left him on the furthest side. Reaching into her saddle bag, she retreived her utility belt that concealed her hunting knife. Producing it once, she made sure it was sharpened. A look up twoards the sky she said a silent pray to Odin. Placing the belt on her hips, she made a little noise sure it wouldn't scare the prey but also alert the other dog that she was there, as to not scare her. Creeping towards her, she gently nodded her head at her, in silent asking if she could join her to hunt. A small smile played at her lips.
Perhaps, this was the purpose to her now, lonely life.

398 words.
There was something about the air in the forest. The way the fog moved, the way the wind barely kissed the trees. It was as if time stood still in an ageless moment, silent and unmoving. The colors were muted and faded, and no sign of the sun could be found. Granted it was still very early in the morning and most of the forest was still sleeping. Amongst the green, brown, and grey, hardly any other color was easily visible. Except for Kane and the deer of course. The tall sleeping giants of trees watched Kane from below, watching her every move.
Without thinking about the hunt, Kane tried to imagine the mysticism behind the forest. With the tall oaks and ash, there was quite some history here. The land had never been touched or developed, which allowed for some good exploration and discoveries within. Much like discovering herself within the forest of her soul. Kane could get lost in a place like this and enjoy every moment of it. It was like sitting in a soft lullaby, cradled by the environment which was left to run wild.
As Kane stood up to nock an arrow, a sound from behind nearly spooked her as an ear turned in the direction of it. Another had arrived, a woman, and she nodded in greeting. Was she wanting to participate in the hunt? It seemed that way, and it surprised Kane on how openly trusting this woman was of her. Normally, allowing others to hunt with Kane was reserved for friends and family, but this woman was a complete stranger. Kane knew nothing of her skills or her ability to hunt, though she wore a dagger on her hip with her leather belt.
Deciding to allow her, Kane returned the smile and stood up to nock an arrow. It was an unspoken warning that she was going to start whether or not the woman was ready. Kane wanted to eat. She was hungry, and would not tolerate a second failure. Kane glanced once at the woman before releasing the arrow. It was sent flying through the air and sunk deep into the chest cavity of the buck. Due to the noise and sudden surprise, the other deer went scattering into the forest, while the buck ran across the meadow. Blood trickled down its side as it disappeared into the fog.

Kane accepted Carya and let her hunt. Good, so Carya may be able to help out and make friends. More friends than she had already had, that is. Smiling gently, Kane returned her smile. Kane stood and turned away from Carya nocking her arrow on her bow. Admiring the bow, Carya simply watched and waited, her ears flickering on her skull. If all went as planned perhaps Carya could share this meal with her, she would not push it and would not step on toes, as she might have before.
Watching the other femme, she looked towards the deer who stood on his feet one minute, and the next, the arrow flew from her bow and landed in it’s chest cavity. The others took off, and the one whom was shot, disappeared into the fog. Before Carya could say anything, or Kane could, she leapt over a downed log, and was on her way to do her part, looking behind her once towards Kane. Ears flickered on her skull and she, too, disappeared into the fog.
White and cream hands gripped the knife, and her tongue flickered out of her mouth to lap at her lips. Her eyes and nose caught the scent and trail. Instinct took over, and she was propelling towards the deer that barely hung on, his form rising and falling on the ground, it’s mouth held a trail of blood, and a bleat was released. She bounded towards the creature, and said a silent prayer to Odin and Thor for their prosperity and their nourishments. Loud enough that Kane would hear her if she listened.
Carya’s knife slid against the throat of the animal, and her blade pierced it’s skin, blood poured over her hand, and she looked to her hopeful new friend, in hopes she might share her kill with her. Ears lowered on her head in a less threatening manner. Nice shot. She commented her eyes trained on the arrow, now.

(For some reason, I wasn't subscribed to this thread. Issue now corrected!)
The other was off once the arrow made its mark, following the deer into the fog. Kane followed close behind, listening to the thudding steps of the pair fading into the fog. Her hooded cloak whipped out behind her as Kane put away her bow. The grass between her toes left her feet slightly damp from the dew which she didn't mind. It was better than sharp rocks cutting your feet like her old home would. Kane listened closely as she stopped in the middle of the field wondering which direction the deer and other Luperci went. A bleat echoed from her right, and Kane was off running again.
Kane could see the pair of them up ahead now. The lighter colored woman had her dagger out, ready to strike. The strange woman spoke a prayer to Odin which caught her attention, just as she finished off the deer. The blood soaked the air, and Kane could feel her stomach growling. Once the deer died, Kane relaxed a bit knowing the hunt was over. Placing a hand on her hip, Kane watched as the woman tried to not look threatening and commented on her shot. Kane looked to the deer and nodded in agreement. "With the fog, I was not sure I would be able to land it right. Thank Odin it did." Kane would not eat all of this meat in one sitting, so why waste it? "Come to the camp I have. After a hunt like that, you must be hungry." Kane said as she looked back into the trees where they had come from.
"'Tis not far. Oh, the name is Kane Ardelean." she said, smiling. Kane was not usually trusting so quickly, but there was something about the woman that made her feel at ease. Probably because there were similarities to herself, and that this was the first of her kind she had seen in a while. While Kane didn't mind being isolated, she felt rather lonely, and it was nice to meet another after so long.
