What had Lillith gotten herself into? It was not that she regretted her decision, it was just that now she was faced with the enormity of it. Her life so far had been simple, she had worked hard for herself and her pack and nothing more. Now however, there was another individual she had worry about, and soon, even more. And even to get to the point of being able to have children, she would have to make some changes in herself. She was far too skinny to give birth, and could not even conceive unless she was to gain more weight. The red lady was not a fan of eating, so she had to force herself.

She had gone out to the ocean early morning to gather seafood. Already she had a basket full of crabs and clams, and even shucked several as she went along to suck out their salty insides. How much would she have to eat before her heat came? She hoped it wouldn’t be that long, she’d make herself sick if she had to continue this for an extended amount of time.

She would make a gumbo of sorts tonight, and fill it to the brim with seafood, salt and fat. Eventually she’d have to go to the Outpost again to see if she could purchase some flour or even bread; carbohydrates were needed if she was going to gain any real girth.

The tall lady sighed as she slurped another crustacean into her maw before she looked out over the ocean, sparkling like a diamond in the sunlight. She had to do this, she had to have children.

As usual, the tenebrous one had lingered at the boarders since dawn. The day had been relatively uneventful, but the milite had done her duty. Regardless of whether she had encounters or not, there was always the possibility of missing something. The shattered mind was fixated upon being the best fighter; now that she had been promoted and officially given the title by Salvia, her mind had accepted that to be the best fighter, she would also have to be the best at protecting the pack from intruders. TaeKyung did her job well, but she was not a perfect creature, by far. As mechanical as she was, her lack of understanding for social behviour was detrimental in some respects. The girl—Artemisia—had been lingering with a loner. The Milite did not know the story at all. She had not asked, and she had not been told. But the male had become violent—that was all she knew. Perhaps if she had been more familiar with the members of Salsola, she would have noticed that something was not right or that something would happen. But the shattered mind could not understand this. She was a simple fighter. And she defended the boarders. That was, perhaps, the greatest flaw to her success.

As the golden orb descended to the west, the Jindo-wolf felt compelled to hunt. Hunger was beginning to set it. In the dry season, prey were scarce. Her activity level required that she eat often, and she did. Any movement in the grass and she was on it. Mice, voles, hares…anything. Often it was the small prey, tiny morsels that at least provided some nutrients and energy. The fighter, practically pure muscle and bone, had managed to lose some mass during the dry season. What had saved her from losing strength, however, was her habit of devouring the livers of males—and only of males—that she killed at the boarders. Perhaps it was cannibalistic, but in a minimal sense. And the wolf did what she had to to survive and to perform for Salvia and Salsola. And so, turning away from the South Eastern borders of the pack, the feral fae loped along the shoreline, searching for a meal.

She did not wish to be away from the borders for too long, for she did not want to miss the opportunity to fight should it appear. But nutrition was important as well. Perhaps, because the land yielded nothing to the Korean, she would make time to hunt in the sea. Fish were a common staple in her home country…. Suddenly, the shattered mind remembered her homeland and felt the longing for her culture. And yet, she would never return. Her place, now, was at Salvia’s side. Lunar orbs looked out across the ocean. Taking a deep breath, the wolf shed her natural form for a shape that was better suited for the sea. A subtle sigh passed between her strong jaws as her joints popped into their final place. The feral woman was about to jump in when she heard a sound—she turned.

It was a strangely pattered woman. TaeKyung breathed in deeply, her hackles rising. But the scent she caught was heavily marked by Salsola. The hackles fell. The fighter was not really interested in conversing with the Salsolan stranger, but the stranger was carrying food. Instinct brought her attention to the shellfish that were being carried. The Korean was prideful, though, and would never ask for she felt that it was beneath her to accept anything from anyone—save for Salvia. The Korean, her English poor, did not know what to say to the packmate. She would have been content to simply acknowledge the ruddy woman and dive into the sea.

Thanks again for starting! Also, just as a reference, these are the basic components of the female dress hanbok, and she’d be fine with the typical ‘ghost’/death white hanbok. For Dobok and belt, just simple two piece like this.

Finding crabs was relatively easy, they scuttled about with no real intelligence and were easily scooped up. Clams were more difficult, they dug quickly away from Lillith’s talon like claws. But the tall woman was smart, and knew how to get information on how to gather correctly, but sometimes, knowledge would come to her just out of chance. It had been complete accident that had led her to find that salt of all things could lure clams to the surface. All that needed to be done was to pour salt into the hole of the clam and the strange creature would nearly fly into ones hands. It did not work all the time, but judging from Lillith’s basket, today had been fruitful.

Unfortunately, Lillith was already out of salt, so it was back to digging for her. She had a small shovel, but she was beginning to become bored and tired, so more time was spent shucking then it was spent digging. A gull passed overhead, crying, and it was this that caused Lillith to turn her head to see the black wolfess staring at her.

The red lady became still and stared at the she-wolf; she recognized her, it was Salvia’s ward, a Korean born wolf or so she had been told. Lillith, ever the scholar, knew some of Korean culture but not very much; it was a very foreign concept to her, but now that she was mated to a wolf that hailed from Japan, the idea of Asian countries did not seem so dreamlike.

Slowly, she raised her long arm into the air, 안녕하세요. she said carefully, smoothly. It was the only Korean thing she knew, and the only Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese thing she knew. She figured it was worthwhile to at least know how to say hello.

The red-pelted female took notice of her, and ceased her search for the small shelled animals in the damp sand. The Korean was only silent in return, and for a while the two simply watched each other. What looked to be recognition flickered over the red lady’s face, but the Korean did not share the same recognition—at least not for appearances, as unique as the other Salsolan’s pelt was. The Milite did recognize the scent of the woman. She had smelled her before, perhaps at the pack dinners that Salvia had once often called, or perhaps at the borders. The feral one breathed in deeply, sniffing the air. Her black, leathery nose twitched slightly as she tasted the salty, maritime air. There was another faint scent that mingled with the red lady’s fur…. She also recognized it. A distant memory of a pale wolf-dog at her flank—a merchant’s cart and blood. 여기서 뭐하고있냐, 이 자식…. The shattered mind did not know whether to be cautious of the red lady, or content. Because of what spilled forth from the red lady’s maw, the Jindo-wolf chose to be content—for now.

Black auricles flickered, catching the sound of her native language. Slightly, the shattered crania tilted—perhaps her own little gesture of surprise. “안녕하세요…” she replied, bowing slightly and casually. Immediately, the Korean woman dropped formalities, speaking casually to the other. She did not feel that the red lady was so above her that she was required to maintain formality. In fact, the Jindo-wolf viewed herself almost superior to any wolf she encountered. Reminiscent of her time as slave, however, she did not openly display dominance over her packmates. Loners, however, received her full posturing of dominance.

“한국말 할수있어?” The alto voice was cool, her tongue flowing naturally over her native language. The Korean wondered if the red-pelted one knew of her culture. The prospect brought a mild spark of excitement within the fighter. But hope never truly was in her heart. Korea was far away. “Speak and the Korea?” the alto voice repeated, her tongue heavily laden with the foreign sounds. She was almost cautious now, approaching slowly. And as she grew nearer to the Salsolan stranger, her posture became crouched. Tenebrous and deadly hands were placed carefully in the wet sand as she paused a fair distance away. For now, the desire for food and the promise of the sea were forgotten. Pride of her culture and the Korean greeting that had spilled from the red-lady’s maw had caught the fighter’s attention.

Hunger began to claw a reminder in her gut. The sinewed woman was practically as undernourished as the other. Indeed, the warrior ate enough to sustain speed, power, and precision. But she would likely not be able to bear children. Slowly, lunar orbs flickered over the red-lady’s bounty. But she did not ask, nor would she ever. Shell fish were never her favorite—the fish of the sea would be waiting once she was finished with the red-pelted Salsolan.

Lillith felt a spark of satisfaction alight in her stomach when the ward decided to come near her, replying the greeting. She had hoped she wouldn’t turn away; Lillith would always steal a chance to speak with a Blessed One.

The Asian wolf came closer, speaking more Korean, to which Lillith just gave a smile to and then shook her head when she was asked if she could speak it, No, only hello. She said, unapologetically. She felt no shame in not knowing, it was an exotic and rare gift to be able to speak those languages; she was lucky enough to know German and Italian as well as she did.

When Yi TaeKyung came near, she crouched into the sand, both a cautious and submissive gesture, and Lillith immediately grabbed the edge of her heavily laden basket and slid it towards the black she-wolf, You may have some. She said, the strength in her voice making it clear that it was more a request than an invitation. Though Lillith herself was cautious as well; she was not quite sure of the standing of this creature in the pack, and the knowledge that it was most likely below her, or had once been, conflicted with her own spiritual beliefs.

Whether the ebony femme took the food or not was none of Lillith’s concern, I prepare myself for children. She said dryly, both pride and shame in her voice as she plucked a wriggling crab from the bounty which quickly disappeared into her maw, I am thin, it’s not good for pups. She smiled wryly.

Then, with a paw to add a soft flourish to her speech, I am Lillith; you are Salvia’s charge, yes? She was interested to know just what exactly the relationship was between Yi TaeKyung and their esteemed leader, but she knew better than to ask outright.

The female could not help but feel mild disappointment. It had been a long time—too long, perhaps, since she had spoken with another wolf in her native language. Indeed, she did converse with the darker shadows in the corners of the cabin at night, where the shade of the Crow Wolf lurked and lingered with his heavy, suffocating presence. But… conversing with a ghost was not the same. The disappointment flickered into a form of resentment for the red lady, but the resentment was hidden deep within the depths of those fathomless orbs. Somehow, the Korean felt as if the greeting spoken in her language had been a mockery of…. The shattered mind didn’t know. She only knew that feeling in her gut—something that she experienced often during battled. The fighter didn’t know how to respond to those words save for with silence, for violence was not the correct response. That much, the shattered mind could conclude.

At the offer of food, the tenebrous fae shallowly dipped her maw in acceptance. “고맙다,” the cool, alto voice offered, speaking in her own language despite the red lady’s insistence that she knew nothing beyond the simple greeting. The Jindo-wolf took several steps forward, using all four limbs in a way that seemed both natural and unnatural—feral. The distance between the two Salsolan women closed, and the Milite found herself in closer proximity than she would normally place herself. She was in attacking distance, that was for sure. But, she also was not keen to becoming too familiar with others of Salsola. The shattered mind was content with her familiarity and respect for Salvia. Beyond that, companionship seemed pointless. Packship, however, was necessary. It was instinct. Wolves were meant to live in such a way, offering their own strengths to the pack.

Slowly—or so she perceived the movement to be slow—TaeKyung reached her maw forward, snatching up four shelled morsels and depositing at her feet. Sitting comfortably, she used her teeth and claws to find the meat inside. Her tongue cupped the meat, drawing it into her mouth. As she sated her hunger, black auricles flickered to catch the words of the red-furred woman. “Why thin no good for pups,” the feral one asked. The Korean was unaware of such things—her instinct to reproduce had diminished, and so she was unaware that her training had pushed her body to a place where she, too, was too lacking of fat to bear pups. A pink tongue flickered out as she licked her maw of salty brine and continued on to the second shelled creature. “Salvia….” Charge was a word with which she was not familiar. The red female said her name was Lillith, but she accepted the name with a mere swivel of those horn-like ears. “TaeKyung live with the Salvia, yes.” The Korean felt that her response was sufficient.

Lunar orbs flickered over the other’s form. Lillith’s body was covered by fabric, by clothes. The feral Korean decided that Lillith may have been the only wolf in Salsola who dressed so…keenly…or uniquely. Briefly, TaeKyung wondered how those clothes would respond to the swell of a child-bearing belly. But the shattered mind quickly moved on, mulling on the prospect of clothing. Suddenly, she was acutely aware of the smell of the ocean and was reminded of the vastness of the world that stood between herself and Korea. The Koreans—her mother included—had their own special clothing. The fighter wondered where she could find some so far from her homeland, if she even could. Perhaps Lillith would hold that knowledge, since she dressed herself with fabrics. “Where find…clothes?” As her tongue flickered and folded into the parted shell to draw out the meat, she gestured casually to Lillith’s outfit.

Sorry for the wait! I don’t know why I’m so tired—my hours aren’t even crazy! I’m trying to keep things moving… >u<;; Thanks for being patient! I’m enjoying this thread! I also assumed that Lillith was being fashionable and wearing clothes—hope that’s cool. ^u^;

Lillith watched with subdued pleasure as her offer of food was accepted; she wondered if this might grant her some favor in the shadow realm. The female confirmed that she lived with Salvia, and that was all that was needed as far as Lillith was concerned; a black wolfess who lived with the leader? This was an individual with whom Lillith would seek to gain favor.

TaeKyung, as the female said her name was, asked why skinniness was not good for pups, One’s body must be able to sustain itself first before it can sustain the lives of others. If I were to get pregnant now, my body would surely abort the pups. The dark lady said this matter of factly and with no shame; she had had pride in her body, the way she had maintained her near emaciated state, and it would be just as easy to become obese if that was what was needed.

Then, TaeKyung asked something that cause Lillith raised a white dotted brow, I make my own clothes, or forage what I can from what has been left behind by humans. She clasped together her long clawed fingers and rested them on her legs, Do you not have any clothes? They have their uses. Lillith said. Especially for her, who could not maintain her heat at times, clothes came in handy, and it was a way to show off her craftsmanship. Unfortunately, she had not had many patrons come asking for her services.

Lunar orbs watched the red lady as she spoke, answering the question regarding why being thin was not ideal for bearing pups. Bearing pups, however, was not something that the fighter was interested in. She felt no desire to reproduce, and she disliked the noisiness and immaturity of young canines. And so, her question was not in concern for the actual process of pup-bearing, but merely wondering why a different state of body would matter. Her expression was stoic as usual. The answer that the red lady provided was not captivating to the black furred fae. Sustain. Black auricles flickered. Thinner females could sustain themselves….TaeKyung felt that she was very sufficient. She did not understand that answer and so she did not agree with it. Abort. An unfamiliar word. The word sounded round and strange, like biting an over-ripe tomato. Overall, the Korean did not understand what the red lady had said to her. But, all at once, she did not care. “Oh, really?” was her only response and then she looked away to the sea, distracted by the prospect of hunting for a more substantial meal, such as fish.

When Lilith spoke again, responding once more to TaeKyung’s inquiry of clothing, the black maw turned to point at her. The clothed woman claimed that she made her clothes. TaeKyung’s head tilted slightly as the white orbs—imperceptibly perhaps—looked over Lilith’s craftsmanship. “Clothes look good,” the Korean replied, and straightened slightly. Her hard gaze returned to Lilith’s, the only indication being the slight lifting of her maw. The sound of the sea compelled the fighters thoughts with memories of her homeland. When she was young, she remembered her mother putting collars and head pieces on her that were unique to her culture. Her mother wore the traditional clothing—she could remember that. But TaeKyung herself had always been too young for such a thing. She remembered also the martial artists that she would watch for hours—some that more uniforms and were wore worn and tattered black belts. These things… She did not have a need for them. It was not quite a want either. It was simply.... Nostalgia.

“No, no,” the alto voice responded, and she sat back a little, her maw pointing sky-ward as she thought. “TaeKyung not wear clothes,” she declared. Black hands ran along her thighs and arms. “Clothes hot… stop moving.” The Milite was accustom to strenuous activities, and did not need anything to make her work difficult or to compromise herself. Clothing could get caught in things, could slow down her technique, could make noise while on the prowl. No, she did not need clothes—not even in the winter months. Her dense coat was ideal for temperature regulation. “TaeKyung not need clothes.” There was a slight pause. The Jindo-wolf remembered that she was ranked above the red lady, and so she took advantage of her position. She straightened slightly, black, horn-like auricles pressing forward. “But missing the home town, in sometimes. Maybe clothes.” There was a slight nod.

“Lilith make TaeKyung Korea 한복 and 도복 also.” The sound of a command flowed easily on her heavily accented tongue. There was a slight pause, as if she expected to be reputed. But then she continued. “I show.” Reaching for the damp sand between them, the black claw of her index finger was used to draw crude but understandable images of the clothing. She drew only the jacket with the ribon and the skirt of the HanBok, ignoring the piece beneath the skirt that would make the skirt be full. And TaeKyung drew the top and bottom of the dobok, and included a sinuous line for the belt. “This.” Her voice was neither excited or dull. Her voice was, however, sharp. “Maybe you find picture,” came the suggestion as she remembered the ruins of Halifax and other towns nearby, although she doubted there would be much to find of her culture. “Also, white colour O.K.” white fabric would be tolerable for the dress—like a ghost—but the martial arts uniform was required to be white. “Belt black.” Finally TaeKyung looked up from her sand drawing. “Lillith and the make for TaeKyung.”

Sorry for the wait! School has been crazy busy with shittons of reading…. Trying to move things along super fast—Hope you don’t mind!

Lillith was not one to stand up against the face of authority, even if it was attached to a foreign tongue. Yi TaeKyung was obviously above her, and in the next few moments she made this known. The red lady was more than happy to shrink in the face of this authority, folding her ears and cupping her hands in her lap as she listened to the beautiful black creatures requests.

It appeared as if Yi was home-sick, and to help placate the sickness she requested Lillith make for her local Korean clothes. Lillith’s sharp eyes watched as the Warden drew in the sand before her, and spoke the names of the garments she wanted. The Trombetta woman was sharp, so she made sure to mouth the words to herself to remember them more easily. She nodded, Yes, I will look for books. Perhaps they will give me more pictures. She wasn’t sure if this was possible, but perhaps in dictionaries or encyclopedias she would have some luck. She would try to make glorious clothes for Yi TaeKyung, and cane her favor it was possible; plus it gave her a challenge to make garments that she would have never thought to make herself.

She glanced up at Yi, but did not make eye contact, and raised her hands together and bowed slightly, I would be honored to make these for you. If you could, come to my cottage so I may measure you. She stood then, basket in hand, and gestured so that Yi TaeKyung might follow her.

we can close this out here though. I'd like to have another thread with you sometime where she presents the garments :)
