Ich tu dir weh
Tut mir nicht leid, Das tut dir gut

The dark hybrid padded over the crooked asphalt. He was as unused to the large grey buildings as he was to flat terrain and warm days. Nevertheless he wandered through the concrete maze quietly, maroon eyes scanning the bland horizon. They glanced at the signs, translating quickly. Bookshops, restaurants, electronics stores. The majority of them were useless. Even the book stores. They'd been gutted long ago, and anything left over was likely left for a reason. After an hours worth of wandering, he found something useful. It was a home ware store, and as he stepped over the broken door he saw that the majority of the place was ruined by fire. There was an oddly comforting smell of fire inside the shop, and despite the fact there was nothing of use to him inside, he remained by the door. Watching through the last pane of shattered glass.

It was overcast, the sun filtered in and out, tiredly peeking out behind the clouds. But it was both warm and cool. Dieter was content with the climate. But it did nothing to make the city look any more visually stimulating.

Thanks for starting!

Before his journeys of late, Judas knew Halifax only to be a deserted metropolis of sorts — a haven for tinkerers and scavengers, which the red-eyed male was not. He carried few possessions on his person, and no satchel to carry what little had; chalk, pocketknives and a peculiar black book were stuffed into one of his many pockets, and that was that.

But he needed a place to lie his head. Better yet, he needed a private place, one difficult to find, one easy to navigate with his poor vision. The male had resorted to Halifax and quested on to hunt through its streets for something that would suffice. A leftover apartment, most likely. Something difficult to enter, with open space. He would settle on something, surely, once his tendencies to sightsee finally subsided, but that time was not quite yet.

Rats wandered the streets in his wake and a cat whined as he passed, but Judas found no friendly faces worth dialogue. Did he desire interaction? Not particularly. The male did well enough on his own, possessed by his own thoughts and by those spawned in admiration of what the humans left behind. These buildings, these petty contraptions, they were nothing compared to the establishments he'd found in Europe. They did not compare to the cathedrals or lighthouses or... Or that one seaside manor he had visited in Germany. His typical smile only widened in pleasant memory as he wandered on, hands in pockets, a hum on his tongue.

The manor. What a lovely manor it had been. Briefly, just briefly, he wondered if anyone had found that poor girl after he'd left.

I'm so glad you're back and that post is a perfect example of why *chills*

Dieter watched with maroon eyes, the dark boy moving through the city also. The coyote hybrid waited for a moment, he didn't have any reason to seek the stranger out. The Austrian was comfortable alone, he needed nothing that could be given to him by something else. Nor did he need any company, as mentioned before he was pleased without it. Yet, perhaps out of curiosity, he stood and stepped over the collapsed door. 'Hey!' he shouted, striding confidently across the crooked street.

He said nothing else, but watched the other dark canine as he moved closer to him. His own mind drifted to Europe, and more specifically, alike Judas, Germany itself. But where the boy thought of the north, Dieter considered the south. And while Judas smiled, Dieter kept his good memories hidden.

EVERY NIGHT WE THROW THIS LITTLE SOIREE
gonna turn her head until she's mine, all mine

Though Judas picked up on a scent he thought nothing of it; these parts were for scavengers and the occasional maniac, both of which wanted little to do with one red-eyed wolf and likewise. Judas visited for the buildings, the sights, not the remnants of a lost society. He had little need for trinkets. He did not wish to learn how to treat leather or sew. He needed no weapons; Judas hadn't the training to defend himself. He needed very little at all. Food in his belly, water for his burning eyes. A pocketknife. A piece of chalk.

But the stranger hadn't the same disinterest as he, and so a voice called out for him. A greeting, simple and uncommitted. Judas could have simply dismissed it, could have walked away, but instead he turned and lingered, intrigued by what resembled the beginnings of an accent on that one, simple word. The male considered replying in German, then decided he could not be bothered to make the effort.

"Oh," he said, feigning surprise, "hello, friend. My apologies. I did not see you there."

Despite smile and hands in pockets the male remained on edge, not yet certain for this stranger's purposes. The Aika's eyes were enough to scare most out of casual greetings. "I am Judas. Was there something you needed, foreigner?"

(( ;-; You are too sweet. Thank you. ))

The eyes were the first thing Dieter noticed. His own were maroon. But, this male's weren't natural. There was something wrong with them, Dieter wasn't a power on medical knowledge, but he knew this was an issue. They were blood red. Nevertheless, the hybrid wasn't surprised, or at least he didn't let it show aside from the slight pause to focus on the boy's eyes.

'There's nothing I need, personally. he said, 'I'm more curious'. His tail flickered, Dieter had always been curious after all. So this creature with bloody eyes strolling past was enough to provoke his thirst for knowledge. 'What is a boy like you doing here?' While he wasn't a boy to himself, Dieter saw him as one. And in all reality it was merely an observation upon the fact he was far younger than Dieter. The boy, Judas, introduced, and so did he, Dieter.

Ah, and there it was, the predictable pause that first time a stranger befell the Aika's eyes. Some looks he received might have convinced him he belonged in a sideshow. This one did not linger long, however, and for that Judas supposed he should have been grateful. He wasn't. He wasn't anything.

He was queried for his presence, at which time the male breathed in surrounding scents and twisted his ears. He certainly hadn't trespassed a pack here, nor the settlement of someone similar. Nothing marked the area as significant, but Judas wouldn't show a lack of clarity on his face. "Walking," he said. Truth. "Seeing. Passing through."

Boy. The term stuck with him. He had certainly never felt like a child, and neither did he now. Odd questions and odd terminology. Not quite threatening; not quite peaceful. "I might ask you the same, Dieter," he said, intrigued, "unless it is that you have no purpose here other than to question ignorant bystanders, but you seem a much more intelligent sort to me."

A charming smile and a nod of the head. That was all.

His own eyes settled on Judas' as they would with any other. The curiosity was there, but it festered in his mind and their was no further reason to stare intently into the red. He'd seen what their was to be seen, and now he conversed as usual.

'I don't have a reason, no. Not in this particular area' he replied, with a gentle shrug. 'There's nothing of use here, to me at least'. Human artefacts, requiring electricity. They were the only items left around this section. While some would find them interesting, they were not practical, therefore Dieter regarded them with little more than a glance before moving on. The foreigner was not ignorant about humans, but he cared little for the things he could not use. Electricity, automobiles, firearms. 'But, no', he said, ignoring the compliment, 'I'm not here to question bystanders'. He wasn't easily distracted, and he'd never been.

He felt as if this was a game of chess, and himself and Judas were forged as pieces, one white and one black. The game would meet it's fate as checkmate.

EVERY NIGHT WE THROW THIS LITTLE SOIREE
gonna turn her head until she's mine, all mine

It occurred to the Aika that this man might be no more than some wayward straggler, idling out in the wilderness and pestering the passersby out of sheer boredom. Unfortunately for Judas this type of individual was often some of the most dangerous he had seen, driven to strange extents by their inactivity and warped social contact. Judas did not detect the signs to confirm such things in this Dieter, but scents carried on the wind claimed a connection to the wily coyote bunch by the sea, and that was enough to put the nearly full-blooded wolf on edge.

How irritating to be stopped for no purpose! Judas answered the man's simple question, but received none for his own. And yet it intrigued the red-eyed male further, predicting that perhaps Dieter ticked like a backwards clock. Judas admitted to himself his slight soft spot for the Inferni people. Such strange, interesting intellects they had.

For now Judas would maintain himself and put on airs, if only to ensure his own safety. "Neither is there anything for me," he said, shrugging. "I am no scavenger. But the buildings are a treasure, in and out. I have seen the architecture that fails, and much of this around us will not last."

He strayed to what had once been a front window of a shop and glanced within at the broken glass, splintered wood and coating of dust. "It would be a shame not to witness these things while they still stand, wouldn't you say? Come, walk with me. Appreciate the sights."

'It's better it doesn't last' he said simply, tilting his head as he looked towards the buildings. 'There are better buildings to preserve'. Dieter frowned, there wasn't much outside of Europe he'd list preservation worthy. He was silent for a moment, but he continued, 'This is a market place constructed of grey squares, hardly Neuschwanstein castle...' The latter part was mused quietly. The structure was in disrepair, as would be expected, but it was doing better than most he'd seen thanks to skilled care.

Judas strayed to the side. Dieter stepped a few paces closer, but didn't follow him. The hybrid nodded in agreement, 'I'll walk, and admire what I can...'

EVERY NIGHT WE THROW THIS LITTLE SOIREE

Judas would not hide his laughter at the Austrian's words, for no disagreement prevailed. A similar mindset out of a seemingly simple man, how thrilling! No, the Aika male would have complained to no one should these shoddy buildings collapse into heaps more picturesque than their intended structure, but Judas appreciated them nonetheless. He had to while he still could. When his vision finally failed at last, he would only have these memories to entertain him until the end of his days. He had to soak in all he could while he still had the ability.

"No," he laughed, eyes stinging. "No, nothing compares to the Neuschwanstein. No structure in this land holds a torch to the Florence Cathedral or even the Odeon, but those that built these sorry buildings took pride in them once, did they not? Surely they must be good for something." Judas climbed carefully through the open window to the store within, returning his hands to his pockets, blinking away the watering of his bitter eyes. "This land boasts few excessives like those. Perhaps we are too refined, or perhaps we simply cannot appreciate the simple and straightforward as they did, hmm?"

'You know Germany?' was his immediate question, he tilted his head, and allowed a small smile to creep onto his lips. He was not German, no. But he'd lived there and felt afifinity for the place. And most times it was simply easier to say he was German, rather than explaining he was actually from the next country south. They were similar enough for him to to get offended by such a mistake. Dieter payed little attention to his comments about the cathedral and the Odeon. Neither Greece nor Italy was specifically important to him. 'You're well travelled...' he commented.

'I admire such buildings for their practicality, not for their deisgn', he shrugeged, 'It was built to house goods for purchase, it suits that purpose. But aside from that, nothing'. Rolling his eyes at the dust, and other assorted rubble, he followed Judas over the window.

"I will not boast, but yes," Judas replied. In comparison to most he was well-traveled, if only for his age. The Aika had spent the least amount of time in Germany, and while his intellect had enabled him a decent capacity for the tongue, Judas was much more equipped in French and Italian. It seemed to him that Dieter would take little interest in the latter.

Streaking his finger through a line of dust, the wolf shrugged. "When one knows their sight will soon be robbed of them, perhaps they see differently with what left they have of it." Practicality made sense; a building built beautifully but without purpose followed no logic to a society like their own. He wondered what reason those that came before possibly had for some of the structures he'd seen, yet was nonetheless thankful for witnessing them.

What had this shop been? A bakery, perhaps. How Judas hated dust, coating the shine and beauty beneath a sullen clog. From a shelf he produced a jar, still filled with a thick white powder of sorts. "This might have been practical once," he said. "It still might be."

But his fingers released it, and the glass erupted into a hundred shattered pieces on the creaking hardwood. Without considering it he finished, "Now it does not matter if it was. Now one can only appreciate what it might once have been and for what it has become. See how the sun still filters through?"

Was he trying to prove something? Nah, probably not. These types of lectures always tickled him, though.

'You speak German?' he questioned softly, his interest evident. 'What else do you speak?' Dieter was a linguist, therefore languages made his more attentive. While his English was flawless, give or take, as any foreigner would, he'd much prefer speaking his native language. It wasn't often that outside of his family group he got the chance.

Dieter nodded, 'Of course'. He acknowledged the risk Judas faced, loosing his sight, with a knowing agreement. 'However, given a choice, what would you seek out?' the European questioned, ''A cathedral or a shopping outlet?' His words were gentling teasing, though all in all he agreed. Everything was beautiful somehow, but some things were moreso than others.

It probably wasn't practical now that Judas had let it smash, but he nodded anyway. 'I still wouldn't call it a masterpiece' he smiled, 'But yes, it has some sort of...' he shrugged, 'Attractiveness...'

"Einige. Französisch und Italienisch auch." Clearly the language thrilled his strange companion, and Judas need not wonder why. It was the weakest of his tongues, unfortunately; enough to understand the basics. the Aika could make simple small talk, but little more. For how little time he spent in Germany, even a high intellect like his could not absorb a third language so quickly, even with his knowledge of English. Of German he knew the sentence structure, but not the terminology.

Judas chuckled at the Austrian's little joke. "I have seen the wonders I wished to. Now I am only filling in the spaces between. There is not much to see in petty places like these, true, but I returned here for much more important purposes." And so too would Severus and Octavius in time. Soon, he hoped. He was beginning to run thin on patience for them.

Dieter admitted some agreement, albeit with a level of hesitance, and at that Judas put hands to pockets and leaned back against the counter. "Tell me then, neuen Freund von mir, what would greater spark your inspiration."

Posting on my iPad, anything in italics would be German >.<

Well enough... he comments softly, nodding. I'd run through the languages I know in varying fluency, but as a well travelled European with many years behind him the list is fairly long'. English, French, Italian, various Scandinavia tongues, Spanish, more and more. Dieter was a polyglot and had been since he was young. Languages were how he spent his free time. Judas spoke erode, and the hybrid was almost inclined to question what his reason was. But that was rude and Dieter was more curious than actually caring abut it.

Around here? he asked, gazing around, Hardly anything, there is a library further up town that I'd reccomneded. If not for the books then for the building itself, it's hardly a masterpiece, but it's one of the nicer things within the city. He shrugged, looking out the window.

He pictured immediately the library in France, where he had spent much of his time while sojourning in the country; built partially underground, a large majority of the books had been well-preserved. It was there among its small selection of English texts that the Aika finally learned to read, though with a level of assistance from one of his biligual Italian acquaintances from the ship. The sailors left him behind, in fact, when Judas could not be bothered to leave the library. It was not until he ventured himself to Italy that they were reunited some time later.

"Will you show me?" he asked, the beauty of the broken glass by his feet now forgotten, ignored. No longer as glamorous. Feelings were a petty thing, really, and Judas would not attribute what little he owned to what no longer offered anything for his sights and intellect.

(( So I'm trying a tester pair of contacts today and I can only kind of see... and I must have stared at the rainbow running wolf in your signature for a solid three minutes because of it. :I ))

It's fantastic :/ THE HOVER DOESN'T LIE! xD

The 'library' in Munich was amongst the largest he'd seen. Though it was heavily converted, the new library consisting of several former banks and beer halls, it was no less impressive. In a blind flash of power lust, the higher ups within the pack decided to take the majority of the books for themselves. Renting them out, but mainly restricting access to language books and ones that could be used to gain skills. It was perhaps one of the reasons they remained essential 'top dogs'. Power, control, restriction, order. Dieter felt almost ashamed that he thought it was a good way to live. He almost felt as if he regretted selling them out. Almost. At the end of the day he'd been hesitant to admit he was wrong, Pride was one of his downfalls.

'I don't see why not...' he replied with a quiet shrug. He moved out of the building, stepping over the glass and through the door. 'Follow me' he replied simply, wondering down the street, pacing with purpose.

And follow he did with a level of anticipation. Not like an excited, bounding child but like the collected man he had become. Dieter had a wonderful stride once in control, Judas noticed. Commanding. Subtly alert. A little difficult to keep up with. Judas liked to pace himself, after all, and see all that surrounded him. See, smell, taste. If he was not at constant alert, how else would a man like he watch his own back?

"I learned to read in a library," he said idly, tasting rust on the breeze. "Underground, not far from Nice. I might have mastered reading French before English because of those books."

Hadn't the sailor that taught him gone missing? Something like that. Terrible bother to recall.

awww shite man Judas is a shady little fuck <3 also, this is what i'm imagining the place would look like, slightly larger though

'I never got to Nice' Dieter said wistfully. But it passed quickly enough, he'd seen plenty of other cities. 'I stayed in Paris mostly...' he added simply, glancing back to make sure Judas was still following. 'I mastered French before English, but given the geography of Europe, it's not surprising, mh?' the hybrid questioned rhetorically.

Soon enough, they reached the library, tall white stone pillars, or what once must have been white, lined the doors. 'The library, as promised' Dieter said, turning to Judas.

(Mm, close this up pretty soon?)

[html]

"When I traveled," he began in reply, "I learned Italian first, the tongue of the sailors I accompanied, on the ship and in their home country. I did not stay long enough in Greece or Spain to learn a thing, but I picked up French and a share of German during my times there." A great boast, for so young a man. Of course, his intelligence went without saying, and he would gain nothing trying to impress a straggler like this one — even if he did reek of Inferni. "You should visit Nice, should you have the chance. Stunning place."

They reached the library before he cared to discuss anything else of his time abroad, and for a time the wolf became wholly absorbed first in the building itself, then in its surviving texts. A bible here, a children's book there. A typical library, charming even. "I gather you were not born in these parts," Judas would say eventually from between the catalogs, knowing the other could hear him regardless of where he'd wandered. "You're a man of culture. Why is it you've chosen to settle here?"

[html]'So' Dieter began, 'English, French, German and Italian? Those are the languages you know?' he questioned, 'Impressive for someone so young...' And it was. But naturally, Dieter spoke more. Though he assumed that if he wanted to Judas could learn as much as he wanted.

Dieter leafed through the books on the book shelf, though he was at the further end, away from Judas. He in the foreign section and Judas, where ever. His hand lingered over a copy of "Die Verwandlung" when Judas asked his origin. 'Ja, Wien' he answered with a faint smile. Though his expression passed. 'Betrayal. That's what relocated me from Munich to Halifax. I saw an opportunity to to stay alive and I took it.

"Betrayal," Judas repeated, feigning surprise though he could not have anticipated the answer. It made sense; Dieter was friendly enough, but maintained a certain gruffness that served as a shield. Something to ward away the opportunity to be hurt once again. The Aika had figured something along those lines early on, and nodded to himself in a quiet affirmation of his own ability.

He would not comment on his age or talent in language, but would question further on this snippet of knowledge in the foreigner. "Munich is a long way," he said, "yet it sounds to me you fear the incident to repeat. Why is that?"

"You've traveled? You've seen all sorts of personalities and quirks. Have you seen men that do not let things lie, who feel the need to incite revenge even though the original incident was years ago. Personally offended and so hurt by someone else's actions, something that makes them feel less of a man. Hell bent on proving that they are a man by getting that revenge. Unfortunately, I know such a man." Dieter sighed, 'And unfortunately he's making his way up north to find me. I wouldn't actually care if I didn't have a pack and a family to protect'. He shrugged to himself, 'C'est la vie'.

'Granted it's more frustrating than anything else...'

An obvious answer for an obvious question. Vengeance and fear. Always vengeance or fear for motivations. Yet what was the reason Judas traveled? Knowledge. Why was it he took a knife to souls young and old? Not madness. Knowledge. Never vengeance, never fear. He knew neither.

"Then you are running," Judas mused, a harmless loftiness in his voice across the aisles. "Surely you must have weapons andtraining. Some means to protect this pack and family as you say."

"Although," he continued, "would it not be safer to abandon this pack and these people until the threat has passed?" Safety by negating ties in exchange for neglect: a difficult choice. How one decided spoke wonders of their brainwork.

sorry this took me so long ^^

'I suppose' he shrugged idly. Leafing through the book in his hand. 'Of course I do,' the hybrid scoffed gently, 'I prefer to avoid unnecessary damage to myself. I wouldn't waste my blood on Max'. He put the book into his satchel and moved on, to a Brother's Grimm book. He had various other copies of this title. But this one in particular was in original script. Something he himself didn't own.

'I'm fairly fond of them', he answered simply, 'My family most specifically.' He wouldn't abandon them, he was jealous and possessive. He wouldn't risk someone else muscling in on his position within his family. 'I don't want to fight...' Dieter sighed, 'It's a waste of my intelligence '. There would be no strategy in Max's fight.

I don't want to fight, it's a waste of my intelligence. Judas considered it a moment, never considering the acquaintance a coward. He himself followed the same logic, at least partially: Judas did not fear physical conflict, if only because he possessed such confidence in his own wit and intelligence to know how to avoid it almost completely. There had been a few close calls in his short lifetime, but not one dire enough to shake his esteem. "But perhaps it would be better use of your intelligence to eradicate the problem prior to its festering," he said, and left it at that.

"I believe I will start my way home, then," he continued, drifting for the door. "My many thanks for showing this library. I have every intention to revisit."
